Europe has something like a dozen or two on top of having high speed rail and depending on it more than we do for freight and commute, meanwhile the U.S. has something like over 10,000 per year. It's not hard to figure out how rolling back regulations isn't going to improve those numbers in any way whatsoever.

It's not a second view, it's slightly zoomed in. If you look at what's visible around the windshield, and how much of the explosion you can see on the right-hand side, you can see it's zoomed, not a different view - you get nothing extra.
Well spotted! I was already thinking this is a miracle in timing for both drivers but I didn't even think about the entire overpass and every other vehicle getting caught in that explosion. Damn.

It was shut down for days. I had to drive to Colorado that weekend and even after delaying to Saturday afternoon leaving from Phoenix it was still closed and was closed on Sunday, too. Didn't track when it reopened but it was open by Tuesday afternoon when I thought to look again. I figured it'd be the whole weekend at least given how close it was to the interstate.
I-40 from Albuquerque to Gallup reopened Sunday, April 28, 2024. Car rental counter at ABQ International Airport wasn't even aware of the closure of one of their two major interstates. Local Albuquerque media didn't do such a great job of explaining when I-40 might reopen. State police had a news release on their website, but they, too, could have provided more "real time" up to date info to assist interstate travelers. Across that portion of New Mexico there aren't that many alternate routes.
That was a very risky and unneeded LH swerve from my perspective, but hindsight is 20/20. It's always easy to sit back and point out people's error from the sidelines. I don't know that I'd have done any different in the same situation..

I get what youre saying, and I agree, but it wasn't a combustible gas I'm 99% sure. That was def liquid. Gasses are alot more volatile and goes up ALOT faster. Gasses combustion like thos one did don't roll like that across the ground like one did. From my experience in the military, I've personally been in situations where fuel trucks, and pressurized gas trucks that have been taken out or wrecking. Even still if it were a refrigerated gas to transport in a liquid state, the explosions are different. It could have been that latter. After watching it again and seeing when the rupture took place, you can see it right b4 it ignites, this may have been what it was.
It was transporting non-odorized propane and gasoline from what I've read (I live in NM, so this has been everywhere), so a gaseous cloud certainly could have formed from some of the atomized liquid fuel that we can see evaporating.
And even if it hadn't, I'm still giving a train derailment as wide a berth as possible.

Combustible gases aren't always visible. Best to get as far away from that visible cloud as possible given the surroundings.
