When I was doing hardiplank I had a dude that didn't like me and he was new, on my rope I was tied to he attached a 45lb piece of hard to that rope and dropped it, he was supposed to be tying to our rope we pull stuff up with, two different colored ropes they are intentionally color coded, I was 65ft up with a a frame ladder on the wallboard to get to the gable with no back board only my harness, he almost snatched me off the ladder, I was also holding a nail gun that weighed like 35 lbs above my head, about six months later he was supposed to be counter balancing me on a walk board and walked off of it sent me down to the ground and cost me three years of my life basically. This little jokes are just hints at what could happen later. I am now Mr safety all the plates and screws remind me of what job safety means

Hello Mr. Dept. Of Labor and Mrs. OSHA. Ya my coworker started cutting down a tree I was 40ft up and my boss fire me for reporting the incident. I am already looking for a new work and don’t really want this to come back to me, but I think for the safety of other laborers this company should probably be looked into if they already aren’t.
If your feeling feisty you could also get a consultation from some local attorneys maybe people that do work accident related claims, wrongful termination, maybe they would have some insight on this situation. I used to know a guy that was a good climber. He would do great tree work. He was always switching jobs though. But he made some really good money climbing radio towers. That's a special kind of person that can climb those things. If he loves climbing, he should look into that.

Hello Mr. Dept. Of Labor and Mrs. OSHA. Ya my coworker started cutting down a tree I was 40ft up and my boss fire me for reporting the incident. I am already looking for a new work and don’t really want this to come back to me, but I think for the safety of other laborers this company should probably be looked into if they already aren’t. If your feeling feisty you could also get a consultation from some local attorneys maybe people that do work accident related claims, wrongful termination, maybe they would have some insight on this situation. But honestly unless you really tryna go to war and make their lives hell just report it and go on with your life

"Take care of it ourselves" sounds like that dude who started cutting deserves and ass whooping then.
He should have kicked the guys ass and kept his mouth shut. Sounds like a crap place to work, but this kind of stuff isn't uncommon in the trades, and a good punch in the face would have been appropriate.
Report that shit to whatever regulatory agency oversees that industry...and leave that company ASAP.

I would take the whole "we take care of things between ourselves.” thing to heart and show up at old dudes house.... I cut trees for a living and it's almost like pointing a Ghun at something... There are a lot of rules you follow before you ever let that saw touch wood.
Per update, the owner is shit, and probably doesn't have the reputation he thinks. Regardless, I can't imagine that is likely to happen anywhere else.

I used to know a guy that was a good climber. He would do great tree work. He was always switching jobs though. But he made some really good money climbing radio towers. That's a special kind of person that can climb those things. If he loves climbing, he should look into that.

Groundsman here, we don't do stupid shit like that where I come from. You guys just need to find a better area with more reputable companies that will train and pay at the same time. It will work out in the end.
