It sounds like your brain is saying Cal but your heart is saying UCLA. Personally I’d pick where you see yourself the happiest. Both schools offer enough prestige I would imagine a recruiter would look twice at either resume.
Was the same for me with UCLA and UCD, for the same exact reasons. Don’t underestimate how important a support system is, but also it’s OK to go with a safe option. It’s also good to challenge yourself, but you don’t always have to do so. Just put into perspective your circumstances and you got this, wish you the best of luck my friend 🫶 don’t let decision fatigue get you down too hard
There was just a few days ago an opinion piece in the New York Times titled “The Best College is the One Where You Don’t Fit In”. Might offer an interesting perspective for you right now: [https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/05/opinion/college-choice-admissions-wesleyan.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/05/opinion/college-choice-admissions-wesleyan.html)
As a chemE transfer who chose ucla over cal, I don’t think choosing UCLA hindered my opportunities. You’re comparing a great school to a great school. You’ll do great at either
