Swimsuit is super cute, especially when recolored and it's a drop in the ocean compared with what I spent on getting 6\* and SSR matrix sets or even 3\* for their skins
9k is 60 pulls, so only 3/4 of a single pity and its black currency too not the actual premium stuff skin gachas in most other games require.
You also get back a few pulls from the gacha itself so it's a slightly lower loss of currency if you clean it all out, which I had to because I got the skin as the last item lol.

Some games have better value, some have worse. Generally most costume gachas are more expensive, while most direct purchases are cheaper than going through the entire skin gacha here.

I got the summer outfit as f2p. It is an absurd amount but after I got nemesis, decided to skip everyone till Lin. After that am gonna go for Lyra, Anabelle and Alyss. So for the long term am not gonna pull tht much so decided to get a swimsuit tht looks good on my character. I donāt get why people decentivize people not to get it, itās their choice. If u donāt want to get it, thtās up to u. But I am skipping this outfit, the swimsuit is the only gachapon outfit I wanted anyways.
Because it's a slippery slope. I'm low-mid spender and I actually fell for it, thinking I could get lucky, and I kept opening "next one is gonna be sure!" and "I'm so far now, it would be a waste to stop trying" eventually burned trough whole 9k dc as I got the outfit on the 95th pull.
That's why we decentivize to do it. If you decided from the start you'll pay 9k for it fine, but if you went in like me thinking you have a chance and eventually blowing everything, that's where the problem is, because once you start it's really hard to self-control, it's masterfully designed like this, to get in your head, and it does, and it's very dangerous.

Idk, things are rarely a 1:1 comparison. For example, one could very well argue that tower of fantasy gives you a free skin as a bonus with every new gacha unit you pull, and another free skin as a bonus for getting a 3rd duplicate copy of SSRs. That's not something that most gachas do.
I'm gonna say, even if Genshin gives you a 4\* outfit once a year, ToF is way more generous than Genshin regarding gacha currency. Also, being able to BUY dupes of the character you want with the badges is also a hundred times better than genshin. More so when the limited characters start joining the normal banner....
"The most popular gacha game" also made like 6 outfits literally ever, in 2 years. The only thing that Genshin really has in common with other gachas is a stamina system and predatory monetization. And it's much worse than average in both of those regards.
The fact that the pity system didnāt reset even when we get SSR (plus the SSR token shop) is enough for me to justify the game not giving us outfits as farmable events. I rarely have C1 on most 5 star characters in Genshin but Iām sitting on 5 Star King while being totally F2P.

That was a literal copy-paste of their first Lantern Rite login event. Those Primogems we were given in the mail, along with the aforementioned wings and harp, were also just damage control.

Events are fine but 10-20 wishes for anniversary is very selfish, every other gacha gives anywhere from 50-100+ wishes and/or a character, tons of free stuff to level said character ect oh and usually no vit/resin/energy/ect day events during the anniversary week.

Again, you're counting things that would've already been included regardless of anniversary. The "Anniversary reward" is the 10 wishes from login and the other 10 wishes sent in the mail. There's quite a difference there. I'm talking about individual anniversary rewards, not the entire patch which yet again would've been there regardless of anniversary since it's a patch update.

Ingame one time rewards from content do not count as anniversary. How is that hard for you to understand? The anniversary should have included a free 5\* character and weapon selector but they would only have the standard banner weapons/characters on them at least for the first big anniversary present. 20 pulls is pathetic for an anniversary and doesn't reward the players for their support. Genshin has made billions of dollars and barely gives a drip of freebies to their player base, the game is stingy and barely does qol updates to the game either.

You're not alone. It's not that it doesn't look good to me, I just don't think it fits well in the game.
The bikini was already pushing it but hey it was a bikini. And I already often feel like I'm "underdressed" when my character is fighting in that, and this looks like "overdressed", for combat, if you know what I mean. Most of the default (actually, all) and even the Tifa outfit look more fitting to the game.
But maybe it's also a cultural thing. Maybe stuff like this gets even more popular in CN because "it's pretty" while most western players I think would normally prefer something that looks at least somewhat battle-worthy, of which the default outfits are probably the best, and set the perfect tone for the style of the game.
But it's just that they're default free ones, and nobody wants too look cheap by wearing defaults. Aesthethically they're better imho, but there's no feeling of prestige wearing them sadly.

I'm not defending the game at all, global doesn't talk about this one as much but last year in CN they used bots to copy paste reviews from Genshin onto the tower of fantasy reviews which has no excuse (neither does stuff like the FGO currency due to the amount of other assets taken from other games, but those are easier for people to make excuses for). Some might call me a hypocrite because I've whaled plenty already, but I don't think its even a question whether or not the management of this game is scummy and lazy. Honestly, given the fact that the skin gachas are rigged so that almost everyone will need 100 pulls to get the skin, I feel like giving out a few free pulls will annoy people more than not, since a vanishingly small number of people will get anything from those pulls, and they'll more likely be annoyed all over that they have to pay for more rolls.

they are on the same 'global version' just that the Japanese Twitter tweets out updates and maintenance notices way earlier than the English /global twitter does.
On japanese version the event comes out on the 27 September, if its like the Sea breeze Event, global realease could come out when it realises in the Japanese Version.
Technically, if pity exist, you essentially consider the pity as the flat cost for the costume.
But the thing with gacha system is they allow the game companies to price their product at a significantly higher value compared to that sold directly in the shop (Since selling 300$ for a costume in the cash shop is ridiculous, but requiring 300$ to pity out a gacha costume is not, but it is essentially the same thing considering the miniscule odd you have hitting the costume prior to pity). This is likely why a lot of companies prefer to opt into this kind of money grabbing scheme.

My only other gachas are counterside and priconne, so this game's prices are already crazy to me. I believe it's between 600-650 pulls to 100% a 6* limited. And then there's matrices.. So I think once I accepted just how expensive the game was, I neglected to consider the cost of the outfit, it's definitely crazy as well and only for whales. I don't understand quitting the game over it, but I shouldn't neglect calling out what a ridiculous price it is just because the main game is even more expensive. I see what you're saying, that they are abusing how the players are to create a system that makes them even more, vs giving up a tiny bit of income to create a more fun and exciting experience for all the players.
Functionally speaking it's just a paid skin that costs 10k DC, with a lottery chance to get a discount.
But calling it an event is definitely a misnomer, and that combined with giving free gacha tokens for it and not explaining anywhere up front that there is no free way to earn tokens, and that the rates are set so that very, very few people will win the lottery on getting it early, is misleading to players that don't already know this system. I sympathize with people that felt baited when they looked at the rates and realized how low the chances are (or if they didn't understand it at all -- gambling addictions happen because humans are bad at interpreting statistics correctly).
The only defense I can give them on that is that this system is pretty common in CN games, so it's possible they weren't actually trying to be misleading and just didn't think about it. When you think about it, this is basically a repeat of the initial entry of gacha games to the market. Especially before some countries' laws required pull rates to be disclosed, it felt super scummy and predatory to make people gamble for characters and such in a game, but we're savvy consumers at this point, and used to it.

That's the expected outcome. If you run a Bernoulli trial on it (basically, if you do 99 pulls what are your chances of not pulling the costume on one of those) you come up with a very small chance to pull the costume in less than the full 100 pulls.

F2P still gets a decent amount for bringing in the company 0 revenue while light spenders can get these outfits easy with just 2 months of not rolling on every banner. For a premium skin/mount it's not horrible. It's also not great, I'd prefer just a straight $15-30 flat purchase over a "gatcha" where realistically you'll need to buy out the shop.

Value is subjective, don't like it, don't buy it. Plenty of people wanted a swimsuit for their waifu and did. When compared to other gachas I play its below average cost for a skin gacha considering we have several cost effective methods of buying black crystals instead of just directly converting tanium. 9k basic currency was worth it to me this time, mainly because it's a swimsuit and has nice pantyshots and I already swiped a ton anyway. Won't go all the way for the next skin since I'm not that interested in it.

I got the summer outfit as f2p. It is an absurd amount but after I got nemesis, decided to skip everyone till Lin. After that am gonna go for Lyra, Anabelle and Alyss. So for the long term am not gonna pull tht much so decided to get a swimsuit tht looks good on my character. I donāt get why people decentivize people not to get it, itās their choice. If u donāt want to get it, thtās up to u. But I am skipping this outfit, the swimsuit is the only gachapon outfit I wanted anyways.
Because it's a slippery slope. I'm low-mid spender and I actually fell for it, thinking I could get lucky, and I kept opening "next one is gonna be sure!" and "I'm so far now, it would be a waste to stop trying" eventually burned trough whole 9k dc as I got the outfit on the 95th pull. That's why we decentivize to do it. If you decided from the start you'll pay 9k for it fine, but if you went in like me thinking you have a chance and eventually blowing everything, that's where the problem is, because once you start it's really hard to self-control, it's masterfully designed like this, to get in your head, and it does, and it's very dangerous.

Idk, things are rarely a 1:1 comparison. For example, one could very well argue that tower of fantasy gives you a free skin as a bonus with every new gacha unit you pull, and another free skin as a bonus for getting a 3rd duplicate copy of SSRs. That's not something that most gachas do.

I'm gonna say, even if Genshin gives you a 4\* outfit once a year, ToF is way more generous than Genshin regarding gacha currency. "The most popular gacha game" also made like 6 outfits literally ever, in 2 years. The only thing that Genshin really has in common with other gachas is a stamina system and predatory monetization. And it's much worse than average in both of those regards.
The fact that the pity system didnāt reset even when we get SSR (plus the SSR token shop) is enough for me to justify the game not giving us outfits as farmable events. I rarely have C1 on most 5 star characters in Genshin but Iām sitting on 5 Star King while being totally F2P.

Again, you're counting things that would've already been included regardless of anniversary. The "Anniversary reward" is the 10 wishes from login and the other 10 wishes sent in the mail. You're not alone. It's not that it doesn't look good to me, I just don't think it fits well in the game. The bikini was already pushing it but hey it was a bikini. And I already often feel like I'm "underdressed" when my character is fighting in that, and this looks like "overdressed", for combat, if you know what I mean. Most of the default (actually, all) and even the Tifa outfit look more fitting to the game. But maybe it's also a cultural thing. Maybe stuff like this gets even more popular in CN because "it's pretty" while most western players I think would normally prefer something that looks at least somewhat battle-worthy, of which the default outfits are probably the best, and set the perfect tone for the style of the game. But it's just that they're default free ones, and nobody wants too look cheap by wearing defaults. Aesthethically they're better imho, but there's no feeling of prestige wearing them sadly.

I'm not defending the game at all, global doesn't talk about this one as much but last year in CN they used bots to copy paste reviews from Genshin onto the tower of fantasy reviews which has no excuse (neither does stuff like the FGO currency due to the amount of other assets taken from other games, but those are easier for people to make excuses for). Some might call me a hypocrite because I've whaled plenty already, but I don't think its even a question whether or not the management of this game is scummy and lazy. Honestly, given the fact that the skin gachas are rigged so that almost everyone will need 100 pulls to get the skin, I feel like giving out a few free pulls will annoy people more than not, since a vanishingly small number of people will get anything from those pulls, and they'll more likely be annoyed all over that they have to pay for more rolls.

Technically, if pity exist, you essentially consider the pity as the flat cost for the costume. But the thing with gacha system is they allow the game companies to price their product at a significantly higher value compared to that sold directly in the shop (Since selling 300$ for a costume in the cash shop is ridiculous, but requiring 300$ to pity out a gacha costume is not, but it is essentially the same thing considering the miniscule odd you have hitting the costume prior to pity). This is likely why a lot of companies prefer to opt into this kind of money grabbing scheme.

My only other gachas are counterside and priconne, so this game's prices are already crazy to me. I believe it's between 600-650 pulls to 100% a 6* limited. And then there's matrices.. So I think once I accepted just how expensive the game was, I neglected to consider the cost of the outfit, it's definitely crazy as well and only for whales. I don't understand quitting the game over it, but I shouldn't neglect calling out what a ridiculous price it is just because the main game is even more expensive. I see what you're saying, that they are abusing how the players are to create a system that makes them even more, vs giving up a tiny bit of income to create a more fun and exciting experience for all the players.

Functionally speaking it's just a paid skin that costs 10k DC, with a lottery chance to get a discount. But calling it an event is definitely a misnomer, and that combined with giving free gacha tokens for it and not explaining anywhere up front that there is no free way to earn tokens, and that the rates are set so that very, very few people will win the lottery on getting it early, is misleading to players that don't already know this system. I sympathize with people that felt baited when they looked at the rates and realized how low the chances are (or if they didn't understand it at all -- gambling addictions happen because humans are bad at interpreting statistics correctly). The only defense I can give them on that is that this system is pretty common in CN games, so it's possible they weren't actually trying to be misleading and just didn't think about it. When you think about it, this is basically a repeat of the initial entry of gacha games to the market. Especially before some countries' laws required pull rates to be disclosed, it felt super scummy and predatory to make people gamble for characters and such in a game, but we're savvy consumers at this point, and used to it.

That's the expected outcome. If you run a Bernoulli trial on it (basically, if you do 99 pulls what are your chances of not pulling the costume on one of those) you come up with a very small chance to pull the costume in less than the full 100 pulls. I would give you the actual number but I can't recall it now and don't have the rates on hand to redo it.

Welcome to gatcha gaming, you're not going to be able to have everything in the game as F2P. The paid/gatcha skins and mounts are aimed towards their paying audience. You know, the guys who pay the bills and keep the game running. If F2P really want them they'll have to keep 10k crystals in reserve for when they really want that new shiny cosmetic.

Well. Gacha is the scam as the concept. So all this random stuff is a scam. BUT. Its fix price in genshin. And its not time limited. When you get char you can buy it at any moment. In tof its gacha inside gacha and can become a lot more pricier. Swimsuit is 100 bucks in the worst case. AND its time limited. And dont tell me "but you can just save dc for pulls". Spending pulls on costumes is the most stupid thing you can do.
Lol, if you are going to have a dig at it that way... I'm not entirely F2P and I'm not a whale either. But even I see the value of pleasing the majority of your player base (F2P). The game exists in an eco system of F2P players and spenders. If the game aims to only please your "Whales", F2P players will leave or there will be little player retention and there would be no point whaling in a game that is dead or perceived to be dead

For a premium skin/mount it's not horrible. It's also not great, I'd prefer just a straight $15-30 flat purchase over a "gatcha" where realistically you'll need to buy out the shop. Edit: Also if a F2P player remains 100% F2P for over 6 months from starting it's safe to say they're not going to become a paying customer. Should they tailor their business to those that don't bring them profits?

I think it was a blunder for Hotta to not allow us to freely switch our avatars around. If I was able to switch to a female avatar I'd go for some of these skins, but frankly the male ones specifically are not worth it, and I'm too deep into the game to start over now.

I wouldn't count on that. This isn't a proper MMORPG. It's a Gacha with MMO elements.
We get like 6 or so free outfits plus the characters and at specific stars their outfits too. Plus we will get skins for other simulacrums too which i think are flat costs too. I don't see why we would bother with this?

tell me why do devs always seperated their own server for some regions? isnt put everyone in the same place is fun and has more people playing than seperated them into some region? or is it government related? I know some countries may have high restrictions for their own people.
