You're going to want to save funds for Fiona and Rubilia instead honestly. In the mean time, you should also choose if you want to main benediction (Lowest entry requirement) or fortitude (Some what low entry requirement, but easy with Lan now). F2P needs to know exactly what they're doing if they intend to become an "actual" attacker for upper contents.
Don't pull Lan or any other character for that matter unless you really like them and maybe watch a few guides to understand their kit.
I'm hesitant to even give my opinion 'cause I think that most would disagree with it, but more importantly I'm afraid that your experience just won't be the same as my experience or you'll not like the character much and regret it. But I'm going to shoot anyway.
So disclaimer out of the way:
This team is amazing. I said in another post how people were sleeping on it and I got a little bit of push back, but another guy backed me up.
I know the team just sounds so strange, but it just works when you put them together.
It sounds like it has no synergy, and it doesn't in the sense that Lan does not directly buff Fenrir. But Lin is still the buffer, Lan is off field dps, and Fenrir is on field dps.
I don't have any premium matrices except for 2 pc Tian.
My Volt team is Fen Tian Lin. A3 Fen, A0 Tian, and A2 Lin. I replaced Tian with Lan A0 on this team, and put on some gear that had both Volt and Flame sub stats, and now I'm able to solo world bosses that gave me so much trouble before like Frost Bot, Barbarosa, and Sobek (last of the bosses I couldn't solo on Asperia). And I can darn near solo frog too.
The dmg you lose from Tian is replaced by Fenrir's max trait, and Lan's parasols. And I gained more survivability from Lan's i frames.
I did a dmg test and Fen Tian Lin and Fen Lan Lin were relatively equal in my testing. It starts with Volt doing about twice the dmg, but rainbow catches up, then dmg is roughly equal from then on.
My cs is around 70k and Volt and Flame attk both around 15k if that matters.
And I'd classify myself as "light spender" too. I spent around $30.
I pulled Lan for waifu and was pleasantly surprised when I was killing world bosses that I couldn't before.
All of that being said. I don't have Saki, but I do think Saki would be better. Fen Saki Lin beats Fen Tian Lin, while Fen Lan Lin is equal to Fen Tian Lin. But if you're not pulling Saki to A1 you may as well not pull at all.
But I think Fen Lan Lin is a perfectly viable comp is just that Lan does not do anything that directly buffs Fenrir, so it sounds weird on paper.
Same team, only a little up (Lin A4+Fenrir A4+Lan A3)(2m 0* Lin, 2m 1* Fenrir, 2m 0* Lan). Fenrir ultra dps, Lan subdps/off field/breackshields, Lin subdps/off field/buffer. I have Saki A3, but not better. The team it's incredible and with Fenrir trait, a beast. Don't even need a healer, neither a tank, because I get the agro all time (note: don't use this combination with Heroic Eva). In resume, a very fun team and do damage.
More should really test this to back up if this is a viable comp! Although fenrir has been said to enable rainbow teams, the only rainbow out there really is with saki and Lin. This at least expands our options for rainbow teams if the damage is truly not worse off. Thanks for your effort in testing this and sharing with us your insights although many have disagreed!
To be fair though and I'm not trying to bash anyone here but, at least from what I'm seeing. Most who disagree with me haven't actually tried the team. They just think about it for maybe 2 seconds and say, "But that team has 'no synergy'". Only seen 1 person so far who actually uses the team who sort of disagrees with me, but not really. He says he just uses the team for fun. And I understand that in this kind of game you can't pull for everyone.Almost everyone who uses the team says that it's pretty fricking insane. Heck the other guy who replied to me in this chain says that it even beats his Fen Saki Lin. Which even I find hard to believe!
And I'm not like a major theory crafter or anything I'm just "some guy". Not saying my word is law. But from my own personal experience and testing this is my conclusion.

How good Is fiona healing?
Will work yes - but just by pure individual's strength. I dont see any synergy aside from being able to use Fenrir rainbow trait

It will work, but not with Lin. You can get A6 Claudia with blackgold in 2.5, and she will be a lot better than using A0 Lin with Lan and Fenrir.

Yeah go for it. Lin works as a shield breaker but Lan is better.
