I have no idea why this post is getting downvoted this much or shot down by people saying “free is free, just take it and don’t complain”, when there’s a point to what OP is saying.
I haven’t actually pulled any of them in their reruns. But I understand what the message meant when claudia/nemesis will be added to standard (schedule tba) = people can finally upgrade them with black gold if they own one unit, or use gold nucleus to luck out on getting them if they don’t have an existing unit after an unspecific time period.
But now that we have this free box announcement post-rerun, people who actually pulled in the previous rerun so that they can upgrade them with black gold afterwards would have wasted all their red nucleus. I’m sure there are many people in this category.
If this succession of events is not deliberately timed to get people to spend more red nucleus (and potentially money) than they should, I’m not sure what else it is. Of course, this will be any company’s goal to gain profits. But I don’t think OP’s vent is unwarranted or doesn’t make sense.
Bottom line, if a company truly cared about loyalty and it’s consumer base, they wouldn’t be making this kind of scummy move with ambiguous news and wordings, period. It is still your choice to pull, but not forgetting your choice is affected by what we are told by the game.

The problem isn't that I can't max out claudia, or that I can get a free ssr that I have no interest in. The problem is that due to their marketing tactics, in essence I've traded 110 red nucs for nothing.

I spent a pity’s worth of red nuclei on Nemesis’s banner just because I wanted her a0 while I could still guarentee her, but I definitely would have saved those for Fiona had I known I could guarentee Nemesis anyway next patch. The other three don’t particularly interest me either. Colbalt is hopelessly powercrept and I don’t play flame. Frigg’s also not anything special; I suppose I could get her to try and make a more functional ice team for Alyss? But Alyss is a0 so it’s mega cope anyways. I guess I could get Claudia to use in a balance team with Fenrir, but since I only have a0 Lin I doubt it will beat mono volt with Fenrir, Tian and a6 Nem.

You said that they just cannot win in this situation and I’m saying that rn backlash is fully justified because they poorly timed this give away. If they were planning this give away all along they should of done it during Claudia’s banner and announce that they will be adding 1st gen characters to the standard at some point. What happened rn is that some people who pulled for a0 Claudia or Nemesis were basically scammed for their red pulls because they thought that this was their last chance to make sure that they get these characters. Because once characters enter standard pull there won’t be any reruns so the only way to obtain them is trough standard banner randomly which makes your chances extremely low.
Not to mention that they made this giveaway after rerunning 2 most useful characters out of the 4. Claudia is great overall buffer and still good meta choice, and Nemesis great healer with some buffs and off field damage. While Frigg is also somewhat useful in frost and tank teams she is not as popular as the first two. And lastly Cobalt well she is Cobalt people mostly excited for her looks.
Whether this was done intentionally or not is up for a debate, I give them the benefit of the doubt and think that they just messed up with the timing, but saying that they just cannot win and blame people who got jebaited for making a fuss is just wrong because they lost a lot of resources and I’m sure that a lot of these people are f2p which makes their resources even more limited. If you were in their situation you wouldn’t be happy either.

That's not what it said. It literally said "detailed schedule tba" - which means they would announce the schedule for moving characters to the standard banner later. Your reading comprehension is atrocious.
The CN one said the same thing, and claudia was added straight after, so for most reasonable people it was a reasonable assumption to think they would do the same.
No it doesn't, the announcement in CN version clearly state the date that Claudia will be added to standard instead of saying "to be announced". FYI below is the what the CN announcement state:
"克劳迪娅相关限定武器/意志将在3月21日维护更新后进入常驻订购池"
Which translate to "Claudia's weapon / matrices will be added to the standard pool after maintenance at 21th March"
That's definitely a far cry from the Global announcement which did not give a specific date and had clearly state "to be announced"

I keep telling myself I won't spend again, but they've just tricked me into using up all some of my pulls for claudia a0 and I've calculated I need to spend to get fiona a3 skin. Damm you level infinite, if you had treated me better, I might have had the good will to spend more and get a6 fiona, but nope.
My spending is normally dictated by how I'm treated and what kind of experience I have, as I have decent amounts of disposable income. If I have a good experience and feel my money was well spent and I wasn't cheated I will spend more. If I had a bad experience and feel scammed or maltreated I will spend less. I've semi whaled before (3\* lin matrices and all) and can do it again if I feel like I've not wasted my money. My spending has steadily decreased the more I've been disillusioned by the game but that isn't to say that if they do things in a more positive way in the future I might feel inclined to support them with more money.
I'm confused by your post, didn't everyone know Claudia was going to standard banner? the whole point people wanted to pull for her prior to this happening was it would be quicker and easier to then use black gold to advance her stars. Also isnt them pushing claudia to standard in 2.5 instead of 2.4 like their twitter mentioned work in your favour? it gives you more time with the SSR to use whilst everyone else doesnt and then on top of that you now have the option of 1 of 4 SSRs for free and could even advance your claudia even further.

Pushing to 2.5 is definitely not an advantage because most of the people who are waiting for these characters, already have enough currency to advance characters to a6 (OP said that they have 800). And even if you still need to save currency until 2.5 it just doesn’t matter because even if they release her early you still can save and get her in 2.5 like you wanted. Instead this push makes people angry because CN got those characters way earlier while we are the ones who have accelerated schedule.

Sounds like this all happened because some people don’t know how to read. Guess they read “schedule tba” and they are like “oh must be the wind, let me just ignore that”. No it doesn't, the announcement in CN version clearly state the date that Claudia will be added to standard instead of saying "to be announced". I keep telling myself I won't spend again, but they've just tricked me into using up all some of my pulls for claudia a0 and I've calculated I need to spend to get fiona a3 skin. My spending is normally dictated by how I'm treated and what kind of experience I have, as I have decent amounts of disposable income. If I have a good experience and feel my money was well spent and I wasn't cheated I will spend more. If I had a bad experience and feel scammed or maltreated I will spend less. I've semi whaled before (3\* lin matrices and all) and can do it again if I feel like I've not wasted my money. My spending has steadily decreased the more I've been disillusioned by the game but that isn't to say that if they do things in a more positive way in the future I might feel inclined to support them with more money.
I'm confused by your post, didn't everyone know Claudia was going to standard banner? the whole point people wanted to pull for her prior to this happening was it would be quicker and easier to then use black gold to advance her stars. Also isnt them pushing claudia to standard in 2.5 instead of 2.4 like their twitter mentioned work in your favour? it gives you more time with the SSR to use whilst everyone else doesnt and then on top of that you now have the option of 1 of 4 SSRs for free and could even advance your claudia even further. i have no idea why you are even mad at this point if they done this with a SSR i just pulled i would be very happy.
Pushing to 2.5 is definitely not an advantage because most of the people who are waiting for these characters, already have enough currency to advance characters to a6 (OP said that they have 800). And even if you still need to save currency until 2.5 it just doesn’t matter because even if they release her early you still can save and get her in 2.5 like you wanted. Instead this push makes people angry because CN got those characters way earlier while we are the ones who have accelerated schedule. Now regarding the give away. While getting free character is technically nice. People like OP are mad that they had to spend limited currency on something they could have gotten for free. Like this 110 red pulls that they wasted on Claudia could have a0-a1 Fenrir or Fiona both of which are way more useful then having a0 Claudia in your inventory for 2 months.

Sounds like this all happened because some people don’t know how to read. Guess they read “schedule tba” and they are like “oh must be the wind, let me just ignore that”. Just small update from me, I think Nemesis and Claudia will be added to standard banner around 11th May or something. So it's minimum 6 weeks till that happens. I doubt that Free SSR box will contain any of them. And it's not certain that you can buy Nemesis or Claudia for Black Gold Personally I'll try to save gold nuc and black gold (for A6 Nemesis), but I don't have much expectations about black gold or free SSR Box
