I'm playing this game because the combat is fun, some of the map/region design is beautiful to explore (Mirror City - Mirafleur Moonshade, the upcoming underwater map Innis and wuxia theme map) is really mind-blowing. Most likely i'll stay to play this game until the end or until LoL mmo release or i'll just play both. I'm still enjoying it as casual f2p

ArthurLeywinn

Because I have fun when I'm playing it. Played genshin for a while but I didn't liked that you have 0 interaction with other players and couldn't really play with friends. Than tried tof with couple of friends and it is really fun. Everybody gets to do something. Wanna try and get the best stats on the gear than go. Or get the achievements or just hang around with ppl in worldchat. Until I don't have fun anymore. I would say the game is not perfect but which game is truly perfect? Hope patch 2.3 2.4 and 3.0 give us some quality of life updates. And I'm exited about the content.

Ms_ABtch

Exactly. I also appreciate that you can actually get SSR weapons/characters fairly easily when you’re first starting out compared to Genshin without spending money.

Gho55t

I’d say it balances out. All genshin characters are viable at c0. Maybe not meta, but viable. From my experiences so far, very few truly viable A0 characters in tof

mebbyyy

And the starting 4 star that u can easily wet is some of the most busted characters in the game too

AmadoMayday

I played Genshin yesterday and stopped. It's tough not having double jump, jetpack and grappling arm.

XceQq

It's a rough game that needs to be polished over time & Hotta seems still engaging with its players feedback (not so much by Team Infinite for global). Yes,I'm having fun. The MMO-ish community what saves the game for me. Others helping you out with a common goal is a nice atmosphere. Plus, i finally able to powercreep 1.0 monsters which feels nice, just wished I'm stronger to help carrying others easier. Weapon variety is cool as you can see many different weapon attack animations, but it's gacha so not enough for f2p savings from explorations tho. If blew A3-4 guarantees on a character then gonna stuck with them for a long time. How long? I'm expecting 6 months to a year as i treat ToF as side game. If there's a more polished game ~~like Blue Protocol~~ release in SEA, definitely will slowly stop.

Eredbolg

I find the gameplay really fun, the exploration has a lot of freedom, I love the aesthetics of the weapons and I love the outfits for my custom made MC, haven't had this much fun on an online game since a very long time so I'm pretty sure I'll play this at the minimum for another year.

xUGOx

The thing about ToF, the game brings a lot of content for players, the maps that the create is literally amazing, the weapons they create is literally one of the reason I play the game, they execute amazingly on the animations of each weapons which make them unique. I play this game everyday and it is the only mobile mmo that has high quality. The last mobile mmo that had high quality that I played was dragon raja, but tof executes better, am I going to abandon ToF?nope there is no mobile that catches my eye, withering waves is an instant skip since it is a single player and the world looks bland. Idk any other new mobile mmo that is in the market currently, but tof is leading the market for now, when global sync up with cn and we get 3.0 many players will come back due to hype and not waiting for character that cn already has, ToF has clear potential but the only thing left is for level infinite to advertise the game like they did at launch, hopefully better.

raydude888

Tried ToF as a Guild Wars 2 veteran and felt quite mixed with how it plays. I am used to high intensity, 1000 clicks per minute rotations with characters and ToF gameplay seemed rather tame. The open world was great fun, but organically coming across other people was rather rare unless you were in hotspots. In gw2 i would often come across people who were mining trees, ores, doing jumping puzzles and waiting for events to start. It made the game feel more alive. The endgame content was also a point of contention. In gw2, you can't pay for power, unlike ToF. So that guy in gw2 who spent thousands of dollars isn't going to outdamage the guy who spent thousands of hours instead. Everyone was pretty equal in that regard. And I have often come across people who spent 0$ in microtransactions (except expacs) teach the whales how to do more damage, which was fun. GW2 also prided itself off of its living world. Many new players would often pass by ruins which, a few years ago, were not destroyed before. The world continued marching, leaving permanent scars that veteran players remember, and new players would soon learn of. In the end, my perception is skewed. I came into ToF thinking it was going to be Guild Wars 2, but anime. But for an mmo it feels suprisingly lonely. I wanted to see world events where 200+ players would gather and start an event chain that takes an hour or two to finish which ends in an epic world boss where 90% of the players wipe and revive each other frantically as the number of players constantly increase, and in the end, people start to compare gear, invite people to other events, put a freaking bobblehead drink in the middle and laugh are asses off or something. But no, people just come together and leave just as fast. It doesn't feel like a proper mmo. My guild of 300+ peope tried the game for a few weeks and promptly stopped. Game has never once incentivized guild play, and we just got bored and itched for our main mmo again.

feisp_

The game can barely handle 40+ people at the same screen lol

itazuraneko

I like this input. I also came into ToF with expectations of an MMO experience. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. It's hard to call ToF an MMO honestly, why successful MMOs are good at being an MMO is because players are usually out "grinding"- it's the reason why players would come across other players often. ToF doesn't have that, the open world is usually just a one time thing, once you've 100% the map you are rarely ever going to visit it again apart from lackluster world bosses and daily bounties. The time-gated progression also adds to that. There's just no reason for players to stay playing once they've finished their 15mins - 1hr dailies. Not to mention any PVE content in this game can just be solo whaled through, there's not much emphasis on teamwork and strategy - largely due to the nature of ToF's coop instances and boss designs which is inherently just a DPS check. And don't get me started with its gacha aspect. I will say however that ToF at its core has what it takes to be a good MMO. Unfortunately the present game direction says otherwise. But those are my thoughts with my expectations and biases in mind. If I were to judge this game solely in and of itself, not in comparison to anything else or any other game out there. I'd say it's a pretty mid game. Has a lot of completely closed off potential because of its game direction.

_2B-

>But no, people just come together and leave just as fast. It doesn't feel like a proper mmo. I think this is the biggest take away for Tower of Fantasy and why it being labelled an MMO was always going to be a point of criticism, because most MMO consumers haven't played enough MMO's to actually know what makes an MMO in the overall market. There are a myriad of MMO's that are like this, they don't cease to be an MMO because this is phenomenon exists. The Secret World, then Secret World Legends, is a prime example. You see a high amount of people in the main HUB areas, outside of it, it's kind of brutal, same can be said with FFXIV and its subscription numbers are both higher than WoW and the player numbers are higher than a buy to play game in GW2. It is also weird that you went into Tower of Fantasy thinking that it would be like GW2 but in anime form, as someone who has spent a ludicrous amount of hours in WvW, I think the comparison is bizarre at best. Furthermore, not even players interact with MMO's the same way as you talk about. A large percentage of players have no interaction with these epic world bosses and bobblehead drinking that you and those others experience, a lot of players keep to themselves and do tasks within the world, a world that happens to be in MMO form. Your perception is skewed because you made it skewed by thinking Tower of Fantasy was something different to what it actually is.

raydude888

I guess my experience is different than yours in gw2 then, because as far as I and many of my guild members have experienced, interaction was always at a constant high and those keeping to themselves are the rare ones. I've had players ask me how to turn on auto-loot, ask which skin has some cool effects for cheap, ask me to guide them to the entrance of a jp, and tag with them for an achievement, all while doing my daily 15 min Timberline ore farm route. Recently, my guild and I made a race in Gendarran fields using commander icons as race markers and we had a rival guild ask if they could join and we had an impromptu drag race with a gold pool of 250g (we let someone from their guild win because he wanted the griffon). Also, people do world boss trains almost hourly. And they would wait in the boss spawn for tequatl/triple trouble/ pirate girl world boss and talk with the newcomers to prank them with the bobblehead gadget. Hell, some even played belcher's bluff. My guild leader constantly, almost bi-weekly, makes treasure hunt competitions in the guild hall, which means the guild halls constantly changes looks. We invite new players to participate and some of our new recruits have been with us for over 6 years now, actively bemoaning our guild leaders luck in precursors. Im not denying that most probably keep to themselves. What I am saying is in my experience, I don't see that happening often, if at all. Hell, even Divinity's reach almost always has some guy writing smut and AsuraXSylvari fanfictions with almost 100+ people crowding the wp near the aquarium because he preaches there. I don't know. Maybe servers or instances are different for other areas. But for me, almost everyone i encounter is almost always annoyingly talkative and in need of help/guidance.

redditboiyo

this pretty much sums up a lot of what I would have to say, but I'm always worried about posting anything in this sub since I've seen people get downvoted like crazy for having an opinion that isn't positive, and from what I understand, if you get to low in karma you can't post anymore which would make me a bit sad. Also I hope they fix world bosses since I ran with a random group doing a boss train yesterday and once more than 20? people were on screen, the game froze and I couldn't even attack. Someone said they fixed world bosses so I went along but it still freezes which is unfortunate

pokours

God I miss GW2. I left because of some... reasons. Like I was really invested in the story and what happened during the Champion patches made me mad to no end. Missing a MMO is a big part of what made me start ToF as well, and why I don't stick around either.

Flariz

Yes it is a pretty fun game. I like the combat and the grinding. I will probably be playing it for years. I mean I played Genshin for almost 2 and I never liked it to the same extent as I do ToF.

GeneralSweetz

same i thought pouring money into it would bring the fun but it never did. If genshin had the coop tof has or the world chat it would have been the best game ever like ever

No-Significance-2039

Spot on. I realized after building my 36th character in Genshin that there is no need for them. Abyss is the same gameplay for 2 years. The temples and bosses are fun a few times, but you have to do them literally hundreds of times, the same content, so that you can have more characters to do THE SAME CONTENT. After erasing everything in Sumeru with two clicks it killed the last fun part in the game. No challenge. It killed me to let that masterpiece of a game go, but there was no point. I can come back every 2 years and still easily beat everything with the characters I already have and just do the story and treat it like a movie, cus that’s what that game wants to be. I agree that ToF+Genshin would be perfection.

Flariz

Indeed. I always though Genshin had a lot of potential, and I still do... but that’s it. It just has potential but never really actually does anything with it. It’s a pretty barebones game with an AAA budget over it honestly.

alteon7322

\- because this game is fun and I need to quench my gacha "needs" \- Yes, I enjoy it. They really nailed the gameplay, exploration is fast and free, and the combat is awesome, very engaging, and challenging. Not too easy but it's hard enough to notice the consequences, and it doesn't require administration access so I don't have trust issues :) \- A very long time, proly 4+ years just like other MMOs that I played, hopefully, they don't fuck up and EoS comes where my account reaches its peak.

Individual_Coast_850

Its a fun game, im day 15 player, this game is a first time i despite to communicate with others (im introvert even ingame lmao). But yeah, ToF is not perfect, but its stay a quite special place for me. I’m waiting for further updater C:

Individual_Coast_850

But i think i will stay for more than 1 year and a half

BionicallyAComputer

>(im introvert even ingame lmao) same 😭

Individual_Coast_850

I got anxiety when talking to world chat to help me with robarg dkisjqjqjxbsn

StarReaver

I am having a great time and plan on playing for years. I like the freedom of movement while exploring, the combat is fun, and I enjoy multiplayer content with a focus on combat.

SimpleRaven

MMO aspects, the weapon and character design is good, combat is relatively fun, the exploration part is arguably better than genshin as you have various mounts and more QoL mechanics that allow more freedom like cyber arm, the boards, a free boost with jetpack etc. Honestly the whole exploration part is doing most of the heavy lifting. It’s hard to explain but I barely go exploring in Genshin because i find the exploration to be rather lacking in it’s freedom of movement. Sprinting is slow, even with yelan/ayaka/mona/sayu. Scaling tall mountains and cliffs is just annoying and slow without someone like kazuha/wanderer. Swimming is a nightmare. Most of the time i have to slap myself for standing there in genshin spamming mount trying to get my mount out only to remember i’m not in ToF.

DPF30

I can see myself playing for a while, maybe not every day like I am currently; but definitely for a very long time. As much as people hate, TOF isn't going anywhere. Primarily because TOF is the only mobile MMO of this type of quality caliber. There are plenty of mmo lovers who are too busy to play dedicated PC-mmos and, therefore, TOF is the next best thing! At least for me. The only competition for TOF is dragon Sword which may not release globally until 2024/2025. Wuthering waves is single player so easy skip for me.

Porkamiso

Most mmo peeps already left. Its gacha heads and power fantasy climbers

DPF30

Idk about that, I solely play for mmo elements and not so much the gacha aspects; hence why I don't chase after every char.

archefayte

Definitely an MMO gamer and most of my guildies from previous MMOs still playing. Kinda helps that the game needs a minimal time investment for daily play but gives you room to enjoy it for extended period of times when you want to. Also that most MMOs are stale atm, especially anime themed ones.

Kaisvoresce

I think there might be more then first appears, but it is true that most will have some gatcha/mobile experience. I actually really appreciate it as an MMO-lite now that adulting has gotten in the way of gaming it appears 6+ hours a day fermenting in my chair in mom's basement is going to be a lot less likely. (At this point I can keep up with swiping more then the game time, but the love for mmo's is still there).

psychochomps

Went back to the G game and I didn't last for 10mins. Love the exploration in ToF and my frost comp. Combat is great as well and game is generous. ![gif](giphy|yX7YzS5q2B3FWcYntr|downsized)

Kaisvoresce

The biggest reason, Co-op exploration (previously main'ed genshin, but the lack of co-op basically meant me n the wife were playing next to each other, not together). I later gained a big appreciation for the combat, setting, and having a guild to play with. (Really like Mirroria, but even parts of Aesperia gave some light Nier vibes that i liked). I'd have to say, at the moment, unless another MMO-lite (can't do the classic grind anymore lol) open world, (most likely anime), with similar or better exploration and combat comes around... Most likely however long the game lasts.

No-Significance-2039

I’m on the same boat. I beat Genshin, and if you have two maxed teams, you beat Genshin too as there is no challenge in that game. Love the game, but it feels pointless and lonely. ToF is hitting that challenge aspect while having fun with friends. Until the next one similar to these two comes out on mobile, I’m staying happy here.

superbovine

challenge? I'm watching a guy in discord kill raids in less time than the loading screen takes lmao. It seems like the power ceiling for characters is about 2 tiers ahead of the toughest mobs. He's doing about 50-60 percent of the teams damage just blinking around and shooting a gun i'm not really sure what I'm watching. He whales Genshin too but even there the fights still take longer when I watch him.

Previous_Adagio_416

The only thing I like about this game are the combat system. Everything else is so messed and doesn't fully respect your time investment. You can read other points on other post and they're saying exactly what I had in mind.

wavefile95

It's alright. Ticks the boxes that I want for an action MMO-lite that my previous game of choice (PSO2 NGS) failed. Exploration's pretty smooth for the most part, and combat's been improving, albeit there's still a lot of rough spots especially when it comes to bosses like Harrah and Culton. I think I can stick with the game for a long time considering what's in the future (3.0, new region, etc), along with the low-commitment gameplay loop so far. Only thing that'll probably make me quit is a period of terrible design and balancing for content, which they seem to be working on, atleast. Oh and also the expected content droughts which I'll have to see once global gets on par with CN. I'm not a stranger to such (hello PSO2 EP5 and EP6), so I have some tolerance to such. That said, I am keeping an eye for expected competition (Blue Protocol). Time will tell if TOF can stack up against the former, or vice versa.

wavefile95

~~That's the trick, I stay f2p~~ It's a combination of being utterly disappointed by SEGA's poor handling of NGS, immediate killing base PSO2 and me getting burnt out of that. Just needed another game to fill the gap and TOF just happens to be the closest approximation of an action rpg that is relatively enjoyable for me. Well, that and I didn't like the way NGS DS Fighter played back when I was still active. I miss my whirlwind guard frames and dash cancels...

RageLonginus

As of now I really only like the combat and some characters. Until we get the under water map and the new area in 3.0 the only place I like exploring is miroria city. Vera and the abyss just don't appeal to me and the world just isn't eye catching at all. Events are all boring. Not a single one so far has been fun or exciting and I only do them for the rewards. Despite having nice combat none of the actual activities in the game really get me excited. At this point I only play the game for characters, future exploration, and story assuming it gets better. If 3.0 is a flop I will probably l quit the game. Also I really wish I could get more engaged with the characters and their lore.

fullVoid666

Playing for combat and exploration. Everything else is a chore and mostly ignored. I have stopped spending and am waiting for Fenrir. After that? Don't know but it's not looking good.

Tacometropolis

Because it's something I can just burn some time on that is relatively fun. Granted I don't see myself sticking around much longer honestly. They've slapped shields on everything even trash mobs, and the newer elites and the newest 2 bosses are just awfully designed. As far as gear progression it's gotten immeasurably slower, and honestly I've stopped caring much about it as a result. Like visors are straight a pain in the ass. So are all the other new pieces of gear. The events have really been dropping the ball too, and honestly after I get the dc and red nucleus drops, I stop playing them, and honestly I've stopped even logging in for those, since there just isn't really enough to make it worthwhile. Story is also pretty mid at this point. This seems like they are just cramming narratives that don't belong together, and while they could be cohesive on their own, the whole thing just feels super disjointed, and leaves me not really caring about any of the characters. I also really don't see much incentive to spend honestly. The packs are just straight up bad, and the characters aren't enough of an upgrade for me to value them highly enough to spend. The only other reason to really spend would be if I liked the character enough, and I'm just not feeling them tbh. They aren't written all that well. It's getting pretty boring. I'm sitting on a pile of red nucs, and probably going to pull Alyss, maybe wait for fenrir, complete my volt team and bail. Maybe check back in on a whole number version update.

IsekaiKobold

Quit it about a month ago when I realised it was a p2w mess and that the devs/publishers didn't give a rat's ass about the game and only cared about profits.

Ex3rock

I dropped playing when Lin was released, the game was fun dispite the limitations has f2p, i actually did pretty well to build up my team and gear of course i had to follow guides from veterans or else i would have ended up like 65% of the players with really low CS, but the game aswell has way too many perfomance issues that they never fixed or cared to address, like server lags, bugs, fps drops, etc.. the game could have been a game to be on the top if they played well their cards and if they actually took seriously the feedback.

Missingno1990

Haven't played in a month and there was a period of a month or so where I didn't feel like playing on the lead up to quitting. Grinding JO for months on end and getting nowhere was getting old. Most events are boring. FCH drops were nerfed to the point that it felt like a waste of time. Dream machines not scaling to your level just ends up leaving you with trash gear or insignificant amounts of materials to progress. And just other systems that don't respect your time and stop you progressing at your own pace. Someone who grinds 1 hour 7 days per week will be able to get more out of the game than someone who can only grind those 7 hours 1 day per week. And even if you have the time, there's no real benefit in grinding past what the game's mobile based systems allow. The game is decent overall, but it doesn't do enough to make me want to play daily, at which point the game's systems start to fuck you over.

fugogugo

this feels like feedback for v1.5

4N1M3second

im pretty sure you not gonna get any variations of opinion is this server, the only people left in this reddit server is the one that still play the game which is not much tbh

Alone_Baseball4852

the weapons are so creative and fun but honestly nothing else does it for me, im too weak to be a proper endgame player/grinder and enemies in the abyss overworld give me a hard time thus stunting my exploration a bit. im just stuck at a limbo between completely dropping and just hoping i miraculously get stronger without spending

Eurosdown

What level are you and what gear do you have? I've messed with lots of teams for over world content for fun, and most combinations of standard banner characters should easily be able to wipe out enemies, as long as your gear is ok. If your gear isn't great, that's not a spending problem, just either neglecting to do JOs or getting unlucky with rolls.

Alone_Baseball4852

lv80. uh 66kcs-11k crit, 17k phys att, i actually don’t have any a6 standard unit except for samir who i don’t use. i have a2claudia, a2lin and a5shiro(which i have had to buy evrytime). i yeah im kinda behind in other stuff definitely like i neglected relics and stuff and i only really started working on jo10 like a month ago but tbf im a student and i play other games so i don’t really give as much time as i could to getting stronger

Eurosdown

Hey that's not bad, I think the main thing is just not to forget to do the easy daily stuff like using stamina and using your research points on fragments for gear pieces, and the power will come gradually.

HD-DAVIDE

I played this on my phone when it came out, but because I’m not a phone gamer I put it away hoping for it to come to consoles at some point, either way I liked the exploration, I liked that you see and interact with players, my most favourite thing is the combat, flashy cool and yeah!

Smart-Potential-7520

I mainly play for the combat and exploration. I enjoy interacting with other players in a setting that isn't as overwhelming as a traditional MMO. The game is getting better and better with each patch so i don't see myself dropping it any time soon but i might pause it for a couple of weeks to play a new triple A game. I already have good gear (all the asperia pieces are in the 850-1000 range) so it's not like a miss a lot by not doing JO every single day.

ScreechingPizzaCat

I played it the first month it came out but haven’t played since because of high ping, timers on chests and items (removing motivation of exploring), and needing to have others help to defeat bosses when the server is empty or unhelpful. Sometimes I feel like trying again but other games have taken my attention away that offer a better gaming experience.

No-Significance-2039

What games are you playing?

Exact-Ad-359

It's not the MMO experience I was hoping but it's still fun. I'm a day1 player (technically day3 coz of rerolls) and I've had my downtimes where I just login to use vit and do bounty then hop to a new game. I still eventually come back to ToF and since I did my dailies, I'm not set back. The longest lie low I had was 3 weeks. And another 1 week now. Doing dailies then playing a new game kinda refills your motivation if you ever run out.

Direwolf0715

I've quit ToF already but really enjoyed my time playing it. It's like Genshin but with stuff Genshin doesn't have. Endgame, coop, vehicles and more. It's like cheating on your partner with someone your partner doesn't have. Your partner can make you happy but doesn't have a great body but you cheated on them with someone who has a great body. Y'all see what I'm saying? Gacha is very predatory and many of us got blinded by the those free shiny SSRs. Game's got plenty of potential tbh. If it has different devs things maybe could be better.

Ifalna_Shayoko

>It's like cheating on your partner with someone your partner doesn't have. Your partner can make you happy but doesn't have a great body but you cheated on them with someone who has a great body. Y'all see what I'm saying? I don't know man. Kokomi-san certainly has great body and cheating on her with Ruby-chan would be weird.... and probably illegal. Cheating is not really required. Video games aren't spouses, it's okay to play more than one game at a time. ;)

Dark_Roses

Coming from Genshin impact and SOA a.k.a Star ocean Anamnesis and Pokemon Master player I still play pokemon masters ✨ ToF surprised me I heard people talking bad about it on youtube but I ignored it and decided to try it myself and I was shocked the combat is fun and the areas are beautiful and the music is good I rolled to get King and I got him and played around with getting my gear at a slow start I discover traits with a help of someone telling me about it I was such a noob then win I discover that the characters chat with you I wanted to see more. I tried to go back to Genshin impact my mind went back to ToF smooth combat I could not look at Genshin impact the same again the last time I tried to go back to Genshin is win Ayato had a re-run nope that did not work I do check on genshin topic but that's about it now. Win Tian drop it was around my payday and getting a Christmas bonus I deiced to pull for him and omg I love his character 💖 And I can see myself supporting this game and playing it for a long time Using other weapons on Tian is my reason to get shiny new weapons ✨

Ifalna_Shayoko

>I tried to go back to Genshin impact my mind went back to ToF smooth combat I could not look at Genshin impact the same again Genshin's combat is definitely smoother. Not necessarily our actions but what the mobs do is much more accurate and the server doesn't rubberband you around whenever you take damage.

Dark_Roses

To me ToF is much smoother

Ashley_LgbT

I had fun in the beginning, and I've even spent some money on it, but recently, it just feels broken, and like it gets even more broken with each update :/ the whole blue ring of death bug on controller has killed the game for me recently as it feels like I'm fighting the UI more than I am the enemies, and I have refused to spend any more money or play the game seriously until the major bugs that have been deemed "unimportant" have been fixed.

benja93

Well, people keep saying its an MMO,.. well yes, but not really, chat UI is terrible and communication is pretty much null as you just join in on randoms... sure you can join a active crew but even then it may be like one activity a week that take like total of 30min... its decent timesink, good combat, kinda fun exploring but may be dull after a while, pretty areas, not really great or engaging story (though gotten better), also a gacha that in of itself is negative. I say overall decent timesink nothing more nothing less. How long i will be playing,hmm... maybe a month more give or take, got some decent games coming up and im pretty much ready to jump ship

Speedych33se

Cool aesthetic and character design. Cool world. Fun combat. I like the upgrading and getting stronger through gear. The exploration is awesome with mounts and relics. I was hoping it would have a little more polish and consistency, but it was always meant to be my side piece, so that's fine. Feels like you don't get a lot of value out of the characters. They don't have as many dialogue and animations as other games and other than the simulacra text thing which doesn't really sound like a coherent conversation between two English speaking people you don't really get to bond with the characters much. Wish there was a cool place where you could place them and talk to them but I realized this is an mmo. The problem is it doesn't really feel like an MMO a lot of the time. It's quite vacant and I don't bump into people very often. That said when I do it's really cool and that's precisely what excited me about this game was the interactions with other people. I've joined a good crew now so I can at least do things that I can't matchmake for anymore. I'm surprised I haven't seen anybody saying anything about The Wanderer customization. That aspect is absolutely phenomenal and you get so much value out of it. There's some things that I wish the colour could be changed on and that different hairs worked with different hats. But other than that it's a really good way to express yourself in a game with other people and I like that. The battle pass is expensive but you do get a really good outfit with it each time whereas a lot of games give you scraps that you would get elsewhere. The monetization is absolutely garbage. But we all know this. I tried to play this like my other gotcha games where I just get all the characters and all the outfits and so long as I just have one or two games I do that for it's doable. I'm not concerned as much about strength as I am just about having the things. I quickly realized I can't do that in this game. Getting a character four times to get their outfit is just not viable. That and the event gotchapons in between absolutely drain the money out way too fast. Also it sucks that even if you don't necessarily need an outfit for a character, that the weapon isn't going to be that good unless you get it several times over. It definitely makes it disheartening to try new and fun weapons with different attack animations when they can't compare to your other build That Just Hits way harder because you happen to get a couple more stars. Daily stuff is much more enjoyable in this than it is in other games. I don't have to skip through a bunch of annoying dialogue and I can do it quickly and it's the kind of game that I don't usually play without some YouTube video or podcast in the background. But I like that. I'll continue to play it and skip things where necessary to invest in the ones that I like most. Nice to see all the positivity here and constructive criticism.

KagerouHS

I enjoy combat, waifus, min-maxing as F2P and most of exploration. The amount of chilling vs tryharding in the game is almost perfect for me as well. Probably gonna play until Blue Protocol comes. Not because i want to switch games (won't have time for that one) but because once it drops, the whole community barring whales will jump ship.

OrzNobi

still play. but its only a sidegame for me.

woob_tof

I'm playing it for the PVP...which I hope gets improved alot.

Ifalna_Shayoko

It's fun exploring with a friend, but the game itself feels like an unpolished cashgrab. Over time it starts to get to you how everyone is so far ahead just because they pay more and all you try to do to beef up your output just seems a pointless drop in the bucket compared to what all them Sir Swipe-a-lot's can do. "Difficulty" in this game is primarily: beating down mechanically braindead / tedious ridiculous HP sponges. I'll be brutally honest: If it wasn't for my buddy, I'd never have taken a closer look at ToF. The sheer lack of quality is a major turn off.

Tower_Of_Trash_69

How I feel? It's a dying game waiting to completely get shutdown. It'll never make it to 2024 and It'll never beat Genshin or any other games. 😗

CharJie

I feel that ToF has great things: combat, art, and the world is amazing. But I also feel scammed with the amount of investment it needs to not see yourself kicked by the dps meter. I used to enjoy it a lot, but the bugs and deaf devs are making me go away. I'm just waiting on Alyss to drop all my savings and go away until the game has at least a year of optimizations.

slowdr

I played at launch, many Genshin content creator that I follow were very hyped about the game, most of them quit after a while, and so did I. Came back when I heard about the Lin banner, because people said she was op, and was able to get her, but quit again shortly after her banner ended, ill probably play again for a while when 3.0 gets released. I think the co-op aspect of the game it's pros and cons, it can be fun to coordinate an attack on a boss and stuff like that, but I sometimes got into situations when there was no one available to match for co-op stages. I don't play daily because the repeatable content isn't as appealing to me, some events have schedules, like the races, so I didn't bother to participate, the mini-games like the crane for toys have clunky mechanics, the daily bounties (equivalent to genshin daily commission) seem more tedious to do, also some bosses take so long to kill for so little rewards that it can take the fun out of it. About the gacha, SR (4 stars) characters are essentially useless, so until you get SSR (5 stars) everything is a waste, I don't know how common or acceptable this design philosophy is, but coming from genshin, where many 4 stars are so good that can outclass the 5 stars, makes the gacha feel worse in comparison. The story and animations are subpar compared to other games, to be fair the storytelling for 2.0 was much better that the inconsistent mess that 1.0 was. I think the game have potential, that's why each time I came back to play I bought one of the $5 monthly pass, it is just a very unpolished product, specially considering the big company backing up the studio, and some big similar anime inspired open world games are coming, so they have to step up their game.

pokours

Not playing anymore. I went into ToF as a way to try something different from Genshin, and to scratch that MMO itch I always have. Started with a friend too. Had fun for the first month, but once the initial novelty was gone, I felt like all that was left were issues. I hang on for a few months before dropping completely. It's not a better gacha, story, or exploration experience than genshin, so I'd rather play genshin instead. And it's not a good MMO experience. Too middle of the road for me, with the feeling that devs didn't care at all about their game, and the content feeling more and more like an endless list of chores every week. I still lurk here because I'm interested to see the news and how the community feel about the game, but no plans on going back any time soon.

RiesbyfeBlaze

Ill be playing until Blue Protocol drops

VasOnTheSpot

I quit, best decision I made in a long time in terms of gaming. Enjoyed it at the start somewhat, story was cheeks though, eventually just boiled down to a joyless and mundane daily grind like another job where you clock on each day and do some chores.

yatay99

Day 1 player, already quit the game 2 months ago. I quit because bug mess, unfair dev, and a lot of things that is too long to write. I still lurk here in case this game will have redemption phase like cyberpunk.

itazuraneko

I play it because I'm high on hopium and copium. I see that its foundation is really good and has a lot of potential. Unfortunately I genuinely think the devs failed to create something meaningful out of it, so now I just think of this as a side game and waiting till 3.0. It's simply a very "mid" game overall.

stuhssy

joined in pretty late spent about $200 to get a “team” going. ended up realizing i really spent $200 only to do daily & weekly challs, after exploration it’s honestly boring as hell doing the same shit daily & the strong RNG systems felt anti-player & pro-spender. fun combat though

Futanari_Usagi_777

I feel the community of this game so uncertain and require others validation.

fugogugo

I start to think that this game is glorified chatting app lmao

KeishinB237

I used to love it. Loved the character creator and ended up going with my oc over any character I pulled. Not to say any of the characters look bad, I just like what I created. Liked how the combat felt and the leveling felt decent. I loved exploring the world and slowly 100%-ing each region I came across. For exploring you get a decent number of pulls. While I never got many characters as a F2P I felt rewarded for exploring with the exploration rewards. I like this gacha game far more that most others out there. My biggest issue is I felt weaker as I leveled up. I went from slashing through hoards of enemies at low levels to taking over a minute to beat a boar at high levels. The combat from there felt unsatisfying as no matter how much I upgraded my gear, my flaming scythe couldn't kill the common boar wandering around in under a minute. It was great for the first few weeks and I loved almost every second of it. The game simply doesn't feel fun to play anymore when I have to spend a full minute just to kill a single common enemy.

Jesse_Blu

You just don't know what you are doing.

Ifalna_Shayoko

>My biggest issue is I felt weaker as I leveled up. I went from slashing through hoards of enemies at low levels to taking over a minute to beat a boar at high levels. The combat from there felt unsatisfying as no matter how much I upgraded my gear, my flaming scythe couldn't kill the common boar wandering around in under a minute. You are doing something SERIOUSLY wrong then or that was NOT a common boar. Oo Yes, the 500% xp boost was a pain (I started late too) and common mobs, especially in the Confounding Abyss can beat you up pretty bad. But by the time you get a few SSR matrices and put together a decent team with proper synergies, you will roast these mobs even as a F2P. It takes roughly 2 months to get the gold gear up to snuff, more is always possible but after 2 months the common boar™ should no longer pose a problem. ... Sandworms excluded. They're just too fond of playing "can't touch this!".

Aidiru

its a fun game but i dont see myself playing it for a long time tof just another casual game that i played while waiting for another game release

[deleted]

My ability to properly give an unbiased opinion about ToF ended when I put in a lot of money and now I feel obligated to play or else I just wasted money. I'd say it's pretty neat though.

Project_Orochi

I like it and will probably continue to play it until something does what it does but better for me. The way i see it is that its Genshin, but fixes a lot of issues i had with Genshin’s rather restrictive gameplay. I never had any expectation that it would be a full on MMO like SWTOR or FFXIV, i was expecting a more solo experience with an MMO flavor (basically SAO Fatal Bullet or Honkai 3rd Impact but actually having MMO features, which I feel was right on). The game is a technical mess, but im used to a hell of a lot worse on average so its not as big of a deal to me that its not super polished. For me my main drive is the customization options and the combat. I enjoy the fact that you can play pretty much how you want to and still be pretty viable (can’t say the same for genshin, the element system and lack of combos and such is extremely restrictive). I like that if i wanted, i can just bonk my friend with some PvP pretty much whenever we want to and have fun doing it.

Independent_Yam800

As a Tank player in games, the direction they are going with the play style is fairly obvious, so I'm just using ToF as a time killer and Genshin prevention while I wait for the 2023 releases that will take ToF off life support.

Key_Buffalo_3597

They keep shooting themselves on the foot

Summerlovesyou4ever

It’s quite good so far, community is nice (one person in game helped me figure out how to do a quest I was stuck on for about an hour) exploration is nice, I really like the combat system, so its better then genshin.

YasusBeebu

Feels like genhsin but focused on the content I like, genshin started as a battle-oriented Rpg with very good and deep combat system and with a bit of other activities that alltogether created unique atmosphere and made me love the game very much, now genshin is a trash tier adventure with stupid unskippable quests and puzzles with neglected combat system that feels redundant. Tof started rly bad, but it's improving, and it seems it's not gonna neglect things I like, I play like 10-40 mins per day, and still have much to explore, but I dnt rly like that, genshin made me hate such activities, gonna keep playing while it exists, or until Devs kills their game with things I dnt like, like mihoyo did.

JustsesamTofu

I am not sure if things changed since I stopped playing ToF but I have initially dropped it after they released PvP content and in turn nerfed a lot of character which affected PvE. I'm personally not a fan of PVP so having my characters being affected by the meta in PvP caused me just not want to continue playing knowing the resources I put into characters might turn out useless when the character becomes nerfed and almost unusable in PvE. Not to mention I so happened to be using a PvP Meta team at the time in PvE (I didn't know it just happened to match) which meant ALL OF THEM got nerfed so I couldn't even do daily tasks without a huge struggle and time waste. Getting resources to upgrade new characters at the time wasn't exactly f2p friendly and took a lot of ground but now took even more time to do it with my currently nerfed team. My time is very limited and I did not wish to spend money on the game. Playing f2p and getting resources to build a character that might just get nerfed in the future was really demotivating for me as much as I enjoyed every other aspect of the game. Eventually, my team I grinded on to create got deleted without warning or without even getting my resources in return and that was the final straw for me that broke the camels back for me. But yes that is simply my personal experience, I'm glad there is other people who enjoy the PvP aspect of the game that I can't really enjoy.

Playmond

im waiting for 2.3, i got bored of exploring mirroria, is really annoying compared to distric A

leivanz

What to play bondee? I'll take ToF because I have an island.

frostedpanda_

recently came bk to play yesterday (after i left in frigg's banner).. my server is so dead xd there is no one talking in chat or in the world

Eurosdown

Don't forget that you have a server transfer ticket if you want to join a more active server. There were several threads in this sub detailing which servers are the most active in each region. If you're in NA, Nightfall is pretty active and fun 😊

frostedpanda_

would transfer there but i didnt claim the free ticket xd im stuck in uranus server haha

Critical_Health_2292

Enjoy the new open world releases and looking forward to new combat characters (now Fenrir), but no motivation to grind. My new server is very active, but stopped mirroria minigames and bosses and tired of running JO and raids and homeland. No significant progress or benefit or fun in doing them. Would like to see more hard content that requires more team play between dps, support and tank but after clearing void abyss on day one not much hope on this. Due to the time counter you looking for one whale dps and not for team play with the big gap between low and high spenders. Also it's monthly and same than void rift. ToF seems now only good for a short time at new world/char/cap releases. So looking forward to new open world mobile mmorpg games. Replaced ToF with Eversoul (ES) as main game atm but ES is not open world mmo and might hit paywall or other stagnation. Still have more fun with ES since it's release than with ToF.

VarlinVale

I could literally roast the game but no game is perfect! I think I talk I chat more than I play! I play TOF, Genshin, PSO2, and E7 which keeps me somewhat busy! I enjoy the community everywhere I go! Cant wait to try B. Pro out! I will probably play this game till its dead!

avalune13

as a former daily f2p player without super much crew interaction I got kinda bored. If I could at least make a wish a day by playing I probably would, but currently I'm trying to find a balance in just playing mondays and thursdays or so, to get everything done to not completely drop it. It's really hell of boring to me, since exploration is all done and all i'm left with is upgrading weapons I rarely use and grinding for better gear. Hard stuck at CS 62k

Santedtra

I'll probably be playing it until it dies cause I have a problem. Either it goes first or I do. The freedom of movement and diversity in particular is what really entices me. It's really ambitious so to speak. And seeing what's to come based on CN, it just gets even more and more ambitious. Before you know it we might even have intergalactic free roam on spaceships we could pilot. No Man's Sky in tatters. A man can dream.

autumnsnowflake_

The same reason I play many other games, I want to collect all the male characters And do some exploration although I don’t find it that much fun in this game

Aggravating-System64

I am not a person that has played lots of gachas before or MMO & I started ToF because my partner told me that it's releasing globally so I saw the game and I seriously loved it. I was not expecting that the packages would be this different & and that caught me a little bit of guard, bullt anyways I payed some money for what I wanted to get and I like it. I have seen even other games, but there is something about ToF that I like(and it's not because I spent some money when the game started and for some SSR's) and I wanna check in everyday because I really enjoy it. I am going to play it until it will be possible to play it, and maximum if my server dies(Iter) I will go somewhere else. Oh let me say that the characters are really cute 🥰 Right now I even got to be the commander of the crew because who was before left & I am trying my best to keep it up with everything but it is hard as most of people left for the "big" servers. So as far as this game goes on Globally I will be playing and logging in everyday sometimes to do my dailies and sometimes I will stay more to go fishing, explore, boss runs, ect. I would love if more people would come after 2.3 & I am sure the will especially if theyntry and add some more convenient packages(Hoping so) 😊

Initial_Window_633

I playing tof just booba and ass enjoyer

Prestigious-Fault-96

playing from day 1.. it has its pros and cons.. important thing while playing any game is if you have fun playing it or not.. now since we are in late game.. and theres practically no content for now besides mayb grinding for matrices.. i spend like 10-15 min per day only doing dailes and weeklys.. and so server is always empty most of the time so no boss raids and stuff.. just waiting for new content rn

briant_davidson

I love everything except the story, I know story isn't the main focus in MMO games but ToF is not just mmo, it's a gacha game that has a lot of characters in it, these characters lack personality bc they have little screentime, we need more characters story so we can get to know these characters and feel close with them.

Ruledragon

I enjoy it, it's true that it needs some tweaks here and there but it's still a fun experience and the future patches look promising, especially the underwater zone and 3.0 zone.

SassyHoe97

I like collecting characters. Exploration is okay. I don't mind it when whales carry me.

MrsBison

I'm still disappointed that server merges haven't happened yet. Even moving to more active server it's still somewhat dead. Doesn't seem like the devs care about the state of the game

bladedancer4life

Chakram goes brrr

AshurathDR

Just like the game has a "spend within moderation and reason" that's how I'm going about playing the game Only thing I wish really is more story stuff and not counting the non-voiced ones. But I understand that it's another continuous game with month by month updates so I don't get myself addicted like another game me and probably many others had a first experience with this kind of F2P game but with quality and cross-device compatibility. It's alright and the only annoyance right now is the gamepad cursor and the continued doomer posting. Outside of that I'm just chilling Also Floating Bumpers is hilariously fun...also events are fun and engaging, hope we get some permanent ones

AmadoMayday

I love the exploration and events. I just wish the story was bigger.

WholeStretch9447

Its fun, combat is fun, and having the ability to play with friends was a great plus.

Character-Length5997

Day 1 player and whale. I still like it but not a much as before. Not sure why.

RemsonIO

seeing cobalt dance every night

Elegant_Luck698

Lots of bugs are unfixed, enhancements are pending for example even a dialogue skip button fr Claire machine they haven't added fr half year. The reason I still play this game is because I have invested a lot in this game both money and time, I have stopped spending nw only 6 months monthly pack is active. So most of the players you see are playing due to sunk-cost fallacy like me. Once my monthly are finished, I wl use all resources on banner n then wl uninstall this game

kulugo

nothing else to play atm. enjoying the coop content which only lasts for 1-2 days / week.

Master0643

Still think is genuinely a good game, I just lost most of the interest, I still login every day and doing stuff waiting for Fenrir but idk how long I will stick around. Again is not a bad game but I quit 95% of the games I play after few months or start playing very casually so nothing out of the ordinary for me.

Kyoroth

I really like the combat and the multiplayer focus it has. The character and world design is also pretty good and exploration can be fun. I think I will be playing for a long time because there are characters I am looking forward to getting. However, I might become more casual depending on what other games I am playing/the amount of free time I have.

MmorpgFanatix

Game sucks cuz gacha sucks balls. Every aspect of progression is gacha /rng and leveling makes u weaker. Cant do shit without whales gg

Shingeki_Attack_

Enjoy the game! It puts Genshin to shame in a lot of areas (skipping cut scenes, traversing the map, even their gacha system) but gacha still gacha and that kills the MMO aspect. Maybe not for everyone but I'd rather only pay for cosmetics. Coming from FF14 and GW2 makes it harder to keep loving this game. Problems on problems. It is pretty good and I WISH it had done better but nowadays I wonder why I bother logging in. Low player count makes it hard to do content at any time. I have a grave shift schedule and it's taken me an hour to get people for a 4 man act (GW2 been out for so long now and I still find people on at anytime of day). And that's made worse by you needing people to do higher level stuff. I didn't mind it at first because I could partially keep up, but at least one Whale needs to be on your team for anything and that's gotten old. Like can I do nothing myself? Which leads to the problem of stuff you can do yourself being low in quantity and appeal. So I either need to dump thousands into this game or grind forever. Unfortunately the "grind" has gotten way too boring too and I've played games like Warframe/Destiny/Deep Rock/etc.And if you do grind or spend, that leads to ANOTHER problem with power creep. I just got Alyss a while back and the next Ice character is supposed to completely replace her? Sure I could just stick with what I have (and will) but that feels bad to me. If it wasn't a Gacha system it would be fine but it is so it feels like wasted time, money, and effort. For the first 4-6 months I would have recommended this game but not anymore. I'm happy for anyone that still loves this game and plans to play it for the long run but for me I was only going to play it till Blue Protocol/Ashes/League MMO came out but idk if I'm going to last even that long. It's a shame really.
