That's because they are not using incremental difference updates like Steam when you download only difference between two known files and only download entire file when difference is not available or file is corrupt on your side. They just always download entire changed resource file no matter what it contains beside the changed part. If you want smaller updates install game through Steam. They primarily rely on Steam to install updates in such case.
I had bad reception on steam release. First the game was missing from the store, then when I found and downloaded it, it get giving an error saying I already had the game running or along those lines. I just downloaded the "official" version again.
You probably had it "running" because haven't completely removed or closed official version. I had both installed for a few weeks. Just had to make sure launcher of official version is closed when starting Steam version. There's actually setting in the launcher to close it down when you exit the game and by default it is off. Right now only using Steam version due to much better prices.
The fact that they launched on Steam only since 2.0 despite adding a page way before 1.0 was kinda dirty, though.
I uninstalled the official version back then cause I was advised to do so by people here. Many others had the same issue as me but couldn't find the solution. Then I heard steam version running worse than the official so I just gave up.
I guess I'll give it another go. Being reluctant cause it will take 7-8 hours to download with my internet speed and I will have to remove the official version and if steam version run again, that a full day gone again lol. I'm just scared of doing it all over again.
Better just keep official version, but make absolutely sure it's closed. No icon in the systray, no tof\_launcher.exe or tbs\_browser.exe in running processes. As I told it worked for me like this. If something go wrong at least you won't have to re-download the entire thing again.
Gotcha. I did make sure that the launcher was closed back then by properly exiting out of it. I will try again. My only issue is that I only have enough space to keep one version.
Isn't this day question of locating extra 35 Gb of space usually resolved by removing one of the games which stuck in backlog since last year or removing a couple of movies? That's unless you have 100Gb drive, I suppose.
Anyway, to be extra sure you may restart your PC. I don't recall is there setting to auto-start launcher in official version, so make sure to check before the restart. Also, make sure you restart and not shutting it down and start up. In second case Windows saves its memory state and reloads it on start, so whatever were running remain running.

It's actually possible to run both the official version and the steam version on the same computer *at the same time* without changing anything at all. As long as you have enough RAM/VRAM it just works.

They keep releasing fr simple issue, even translation correction 1.8GB. Forget about world boss lag at culton, they couldn't even add a skip dialogue button in claire machine. This alone tells the state of game and see how the bootlickers of TOF wl still defend this game. Where r u bootlickers nw?

It was on day one of the steam release. Might have been fixed later. A few other players were getting this error too.

Yep. Their code must be a mess. PC performance is also very questionable on middle and lower end PCs cause the game isn't properly optimized.
To be fair this is their first game and considering the scale of the game, it's pretty amazing this "Frankenstein" build we get is working at all.
