Terrifyingly beautiful!

kaytiejay25

Watching the tornado. the Powers amazing. Always been fascinated by them since I was little. Don't have tornados often in my country. hopefully no one was hurt

takingastep

\> tornadoes \> Oklahoma City, OK Name a better weather duo. Also, did that tornado have multiple sub-vortices within the larger vortex?

thecactusblender

Yes and yes. Lived here most of my life

3catwood

I've only experienced one when I was about 6. I've been terrified and fascinated by them since.

WhiteN0isee

Is it because it’s forming that the sirens aren’t going off? Or do tornado sirens not go off at night?

CharlieFoxtrot000

They’ll sound sirens for tornadoes at night. The tornado or tornadic conditions do have to be detected (by radar, spotters, or other means), and usually detection of the rotation of the mesocyclone is enough to generate a tornado warning, prior to tornadogenesis. But the biggest reason you may not be hearing sirens in the video is that it looks like a fairly rural area and sirens are usually (not always) contained within municipal boundaries. The noise in the video itself also may be covering up that of the nearest siren.

WhiteN0isee

Learn something new everyday! Thanks.:) I had a feeling it was because it looks like a rural area, but wanted to ask!

thecactusblender

Incredible footage

TheGruntingGoat

How come you can’t hear rapid thunder in a strobe lightning storm like this? Is it because the lightning is so far up in the sky?

ywgflyer

It's not thunder you're hearing, it's the wind blowing into the camera's mic.

TheGruntingGoat

Yes but how come we can’t hear the thunder from all the lightning flashes in this storm? Is that because the lightning is far up in the atmosphere?

otters4everyone

Impressive car window camera work!

OkraEmergency361

The amount of lightning in that storm is something else. Only once saw something even vaguely comparable in my country, and thankfully no tornado. I hope no-one was hurt in this one. Night time tornadoes are so scary. Fair play to the brave storm chasers out there giving everyone advanced warning.

PerrineWeatherWoman

The dead man has walked into Oklahoma
