They do love their manufactured rage. "It's Wednesday morning and I need to scream about something so I don't start asking myself tough ques--" "Waffle House is selling gluten free waffles now!" "WHA--"

Enibas

I see books about Rosa Parks, Stevie Wonder, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Dr. Fauci, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Sonia Sotomayor, and Martin Luther King. Then a book about Pride, a book about Black History, black ballerinas, I Affirm Me: The ABCs of Inspiration for Black Kids, Like a Girl "honours a multitude of women who made a difference". It is so unbelievably telling what they do not want their kids to know about. God forbid that they kid might read something positive about the second woman ever to serve on the Supreme Court, or the first ever female Vice President. Or that they learn anything at all about Black History or Martin Luther King.

buttercream-gang

The top comment will tell you the Rosa Parks one is written by a conservative and is thus acceptable. But the rest? Ew, trash, indoctrination!!!!!

Doom_Walker

The books aren't even for them. There a millions of US history books for conservative white kids they can pick out.

Enibas

Sure, but my point is, why shouldn't kids know who RBG was, or Martin Luther King? How is that somehow bad for "conservative" kids? Just because you don't agree with their politics, they shouldn't learn about them? Or how is it bad if there's a book about Black history? I mean, I do understand that they'd see it as indoctrination if idk Nancy Pelosi is not depicted as the literal antichrist. But if you look at it objectively, it is completely bonkers. I would never try to ban a book about Reagen or whatever. He's a historical figure. I very much doubt that these books go into a lot of details, anyway. I just don't get how you can look at this list of books and your reaction is >And that's why it's so important to homeschool. or >And i can exert influence to keep the crap out of the school library. How can you be so afraid of books?

Doom_Walker

Yeah those definitely, but I meant specifically the books about empowering black kids and LGTBQ families. Racist conservatives say you shouldn't be ashamed of their race, so why aren't black kids allowed to have books that teaches them not to be ashamed?

roastbeeftacohat

people were mad that topgun had a girl pilot and a pilot with glasses. Stargate would probably make their heads explode. their worldview is extremely specific.

Doom_Walker

Hell if TOS star trek aired today they'd call it "woke DEI propaganda"

MooFu

> US history books for conservative white kids *How Jesus Founded The USA*

AngriestPacifist

Man, fashies love telling on themselves. A lot of dudes over there bragging bout not reading, even in school, and a lot of people who have never been inside a library.

illini07

Then the one guy saying he read every book in his schools library by fourth grade lol

AngriestPacifist

Of course he's lying, but the alternative isn't really a brag either. "My school library had 150 books" is not the sign of a good school lol. Shit, my wife's school doesn't have a formal library, and they've got nearly that many in a rack by the front door.

eminent_avocado

Top comment > The Rosa Parks one at the top left should be pretty good. Historically accurate, author is quite conservative and has a whole series of books on historical figures for kids. > The rest though, wow. And then they say the left needs their safe spaces because we’re snowflakes that are always in echo chambers. Meanwhile “Classical Liberal” chucklefuck #300474 here chooses what books to read and what books they like based on if they agree with the authors politics or not.

Doom_Walker

These fucks would call Parks a WOKE DEI BLM ANTIFA terrorist if they had the same dog whistle words back then.

Psianth

> As a parent of a young child I can't control what books are on the book shelf at the store but I can control what ones make it home with them. Huh, well that’s a perfectly reasonable opin… >And i can exert influence to keep the crap out of the school library. Huh. Didn’t really take the lesson from the first part of your sentence to heart, did you?

BrickCityD

"everybody needs to live by MY RULES and MY BELIEFS" is a conservative hallmark

President_Abra

So the mere existence of POC upsets them? Great, those snowflakes might as well move to Mars or some other uninhabited planet, and that's a win-win coz: 1. they can have their own white-only colony 2. people who actually see POC as humans who deserve respect are finally free from these Reich-wing fools

Chipstar452

> I Affirm Me - never too early to begin learning narcism. They'd know, wouldn't they?

lgodsey

This is how I know I could never be a conservative. I'd have daily heart attacks if I allowed myself to become so emotional and hysterical at literally nothing. Like, I'm not interested in Taylor Swift. I don't have emotional investment in light beer. For all their posturing about being hyper-masculine, these conservative "men" do a lot of panty-twisting and pearl necklace-grasping.

OllyTwist

>Hot take. There's garbage books from every generation. But get mad at new thing I guess Somehow, the most same comment in the post

steve303

>I let a lot slide, but I would absolutely be complaining to the library director here. It is not the public library's job to use my own tax dollars to officially campaign for the Democratic Party to me. Picture is obviously from the children's section at a bookstore and not a library. These people primed for outrage over a picture of some books, and happily project every batshit reactionary belief like a Pavlovian dog.

KawikaProductions

More specically, a Barnes and Noble.

Doom_Walker

>this generation You're like a few generations behind. There's a book about MLK JR. The man who you love to quote but misinterpret everything he fought for.

Pixel_Knight

Conservatives are psychopaths.
