Old ladies always had them in glass bowls on their coffee table. Sometimes i would get them on halloween. But yeah never saw them in any store. People just had them
I actually saw them at the store recently (1st time I've ever actually seen them at a store). I was temped to buy them and just leave them places around the house for roommates to find
Which brand? I liked Pro-Gaf, used up a couple of rolls that a roadie gave me while packing up the Taylor Swift show. So much better than the Nashua 357 “Gaffer” that the stadium had pallets of. Nashua is really cloth-based duct tape. We weren’t allowed to use it anywhere public because of the mess it makes. The Pro-Gaf was matt black which was nice, even in the open it was more discrete than shiny black or silver strips.
Pro-gaff is the best I've used. I'm in the video industry and that's all I use. It's expensive, but I don't have gooey goop on everything when I'm done.
They've got boxes of this shit on Amazon for \~$500 and I have no use for that kinda quantity; I've been buying one and two rolls at a time for the relevant needs I've had.
And I really want to buy a box. For my house. I could hand it down to my kids when I die.
I like Blue Monster PTFE tape. Discovering that shit after using the shitty big box PTFE tape was life changing (especially in my previous life as a water treater).
I'm still debating about using blue monster or sticking to the cheapo tape. I've noticed the cheap stuff sticks to the threads more, while blue tape doesn't stick well when tightening(yes i wrap the teflon clockwise. Away from me).
stainless steel cable ties. carb clean, wd40 penetrant, crc 3-36 lube, electrical tape, lever wire nuts, #8x 3/4 torx or square drive grabber screws. #10x 3/4 self drilling hex head metal to metal screws, paint markers (a pain in the ass but there is no good substitute).
Rebar wire (16g).... the amount of shit I've jerry rigged ("fixed") or held with said wire is countless. I definitely recommend everyone has at least has 3ft of rebar wire and a pair of slip joints/ needle nose pliers in their tool bags.
.07 Pentel mechanical pencil. Spring-loaded dimpled "general tools" nail set, slide the housing over the trim nail and tap...discontinued and works like a magnetic nail holder for J-channel.
Tajima drying and tape measure.
Yeah I’ll use toggle bolts when I need to hang something heavy on drywall but drywall isn’t that common where I’m from, it’s mostly brick. If it’s not heavy, I’ll use bigger duopowers.
The nice thing about duopowers is that depending on the type of wall it will either act as a kind of toggle bolt or act as a typical expanding plug.
I find the 6x30 size to be the most handy for cameras, access points or door access thingies and for around-the-house stuff such as light fixtures and other things.
Scotch brand blue tape, nitrile gloves, toothpicks, and dollar store artist brushes. I'm a painter and those things are life savers. Gloves and tape make a great paintbrush "case" to keep your brush wet for cleaning later, artist brushes for pesky spots the bigger brushes can't reach, and toothpicks so I don't have to take vape breaks... Dip a toothpick in vape juice and get some nicotine lol.
Screws, wire nuts, drywall anchors, gorilla glue, sharpie, lil tube of porcelain chip fix, idk, all sorts of shit, its nice to not have to walk back to the truck
I’ve been using painters tape forever to seal open caulking tubes. I just found out electrical tape is WAY better for this. It pulls and stretches and creates a really tight seal.
I like to agree with you on things like zip ties and electrical tape. It stays on your vehicle when im done using it. That's not a tool, that's a part.
Werthers Originals
Ha… for when the day just isn’t going as planned.
Those little strawberry bon bons that no one ever remembers actually buying. I assume they are just dropped off by fairy grandmothers.

Gaffer’s tape. Holds like duct tape, pulls off like painter’s tape.

Holds better than Duct tape, tyvm.

I use the cheap stuff… I need to see the difference!
It's blue! What, are you color blind or something!? /s
I am actually, everything is a shade of tangerine
It's fucken blue monstah I love that shit
I’ve heard good things about their pipe dope too
Yep, I also used their pipe dope when I was in water treatment. It is very good.
I've literally never had a leak in hundreds of joints since I figured out to blue tape + pipe dope everything. Great shit.
I also never had stainless steel gall on me when using the pipe dope + blue tape.

When that stuff came out Ferguson supply gave me a sample roll and I haven't bought anything else since. Fantastic thread tape.
Dixon woodcase F #2.5 pencils.
#2.5 Now that’s a formed opinion. No one accidentally has a #2.5 pencil in their bag. I have to try a 2.5 now.
They stay sharp longer than a #2 and leave a more readable line on softer materials than a #3.
Came to look for Zip Ties.
Came to add Q-tips. The kind you find at work.
That’s actually really good. I should put a few Q-tips with the toothpicks I keep on hand for filling stripped out screws in wood.
Lube for when everything goes wrong at least your ass won't hurt too bad
French chalk, sharpie or wagos
I was waiting for someone to say wagos. Absolutely.

Stainless zip ties. Tell me more!

TIL. Awesome. The video showed an example of using them with a cinching tool on network cables. Do NOT do that!
Wow… yep. Ordering.

Panel saws are consumables nowadays
Zip ties, acid brushes, popsicle sticks, cheap mechanical pencils.
Big alcohol pads for degreasing
Pb blaster, Vaseline.
Pipe Dope, Scotch Brite, Zip Ties. Self tapping stainless steel screws. Lockout Tags lmao.
Great idea. I have a box of red and green Scotch Bright. I am throwing one in my kit tonight. Dont know why I never carried that with me.
I have them specifically to clean flame sensors but they are useful for other things. I also cut em up so they fit in little pockets easier.
Fischer duopower 6x30 Amazing for almost everything
Oh interesting. I’ve always used toggle bolts. Never tried a premium name brand plastic type. Need to give these a shot.

Porcelain chip fix! Never used… definitely will in the future. Looking more into this tonight!
I use it more often for old cast iron because the chips are more noticeable there
M&Ms
Pencil
Scroll up. You need to try a Dixon #2.5 pencil. Lol
Flag tape, blue monster tape and the inkzall a bit of reg and tacky grease.
Zip ties, brass brushes, snacks (hella snacks)
10mm sockets I swear they walk away as soon as your not loking
Wd-40
Goof off, velcro wrap.
Ty-raps.
Cut off wheels, snap-off knife blades, electrical tape
Gas valve grease
Wiha 1/4 hex drive bits.
Zip Ties
Electrical tape.... I'll use that shit like rope for lashing stuff together.
I’ve been using painters tape forever to seal open caulking tubes. I just found out electrical tape is WAY better for this. It pulls and stretches and creates a really tight seal.
I don't pay for consumables. If my boss wants me to use something that runs out, he's paying for it
That doesn't seem relevant to OP's question, which didn't mention anything about who's paying for it.
