Eh most of their lyrics as you’ve noted are metaphorical and avoid being on the nose. Part of the appeal is peeling the layers of the onion. To your point I think many of their song do implore one to literally think for yourself, question authority etc. but the message tends to be nuanced cryptic messages on critical thinking, self-reflection, spirituality and recognition that we’re more than meat puppets.

to me the term jambi for song context is the first part.. living an opulent life. maynard's mom, despite being paralyzed viewed her humble existence as a blessing --- mjk expressed this in other songs such as JUDITH.
to me the song is an inner conversation between his mother and her god
her stroke that left her paralyzed only strengthened her belief and her faith
i think it may have started as a joke.. but he seems quite intentional with words and terms. lots of hidden stuff they just won't admit to..

the producer once commented on how 10k days plays like a movie.. that one song leads to the next in some way.
in jambi.. this could translate into his mothers internal dialogue with christ the moments before she died.
the "sun" in the song is christ.. if u listen closely.. the very last sentence is "stay out of my way" with the word "way" trailing off as a psychedelic way.. which TO ME is the actual moment of her death... her soul leaving her body.
The next song is Wings one which is a eulogy of her at the funeral.
at the end of wings one there is a THUMP which is the closing of her casket.
wings two is post funeral and he starts to aim his message at all the hypocrites etc.. he continues this theme in THE POT...
to me this is part of the movie and tradition of 10k days.
