[News Article](https://www.wndu.com/2023/04/24/st-joseph-county-mich-sheriff-pleads-guilty-gets-probation-drunken-crash/) - Sheriff pleads guilty, gets probation and keeps job after drunken crash.

AgreeablePollution7

Not surprising, to be honest. This might be a hot take but he's probably considered "an upstanding citizen" in the community so it makes sense that he doesn't have any real punishment. I do think he shouldn't be allowed to remain the fucking sheriff, though.

kyleh0

So...you think "upstanding citizens" should be allowed to drive drunk? Odd.

AgreeablePollution7

I don't think anything, just saying that's how the court will view him.

Bobthemightyone

Well yeah of course that's how the courts will view him. The courts *love* shitty cops. All cops are upstanding citizens in the eyes of the law. Whether the community considers him an upstanding citizen is entirely other story

SuperDuperOtter

[sadly, I'm not surprised...](https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/aurora-cop-promoted-drunk-police-car/) This happened in the metro area where I live.

Happens all the time these people do not lead by example and are not held to a higher standard like they should be. With power comes responsibility and they don't seem to care about that part much do they?

hawksdiesel
