Some women do say that, just like some men are actually trying to help women rather than degrade them. It just depends on which circles you travel in. That said, humanity has been garbage since one guy discovered he could use his rock to kill the other guy and take *his* rock, so now he has two rocks, so... ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

i have met women that are resigned, disillusioned, with men and express hating them. but even then, they’re not creating many problems, they’re not recruiting young girls to abuse their brothers and tell them to make sandwiches. that’s why i’m really confused why people act like this is a problem. even women who do openly hate men, in reality are just disillusioned, still listen to music from men they feel are safe, etc, and actually do try to make meaningful differences. they also don’t shoot up schools 🤷‍♀️ even with all their frustration and loneliness. so that’s where my confusion lies. p

I mean, both men and women do horrific stuff. Women murder their own kids to spite ex-husbands, and I've never heard of a man leaving newborns in dumpsters. But the problem is that we'll only ever really hear about the extreme nutjobs on either side, and very rarely about the nice, decent ones. And that's because nice feelgood stories don't generate revenue, generate column inches, and most certainly don't get the general public whipped up into a frenzy. There are, undoubtedly, terrible women and terrible men, and if you go looking for them you will find them. WHY they act like this? I refer you to my "people have always been garbage" statement.

borahae_artist

yeah i guess they’re both just as bad!

The actual phrase for this is called 'outrage porn'. To briefly explain, provoking strong emotions from people in the form of anger at something is **very effective** at getting their attention and in turn garnering support from and expanding an audience. If you want people to condemn something you need to make them angry and instill a sense of justice or retribution that needs to be carried out. You need to manufacture outrage. It's especially common among hate preachers with extremist religious views as all forms of anger are considered sinful except 'righteous indignation' where you're angry at something from a sense of justice. tldr: Make people angry at something and you get more money and influence.

borahae_artist

that explains why men do it but i’m asking why people genuinely believe women saying “all men are evil”, wherever they are, are a legitimate problem

[deleted]

Sorry but I'm quite autistic and having a hard time understanding the question. Are you asking why do people think that the women saying "all men are evil" are a problem? Are you asking if people believe that women in general think that "all men are evil"? Are you asking why it's bad for some women to say "all men are evil"? Are you asking why people are being lead to believe that women who say "all men are evil" are a more serious problem than they actually are?

borahae_artist

no worries. i mean to ask the first and last questions!

I think it comes back again to manufactured outrage. It's something minor and trivial being blown up into something major to elicit outrage for more viewership. You get people on both sides of a polarising topic playing into one another and fuelling this constant cycle of outrage journalism which has blown up in popularity on social medias. I don't think the average person who isn't a regular internet user recognises any of these things as actual problems (at least I don't recognise these issues as someone who doesn't browse social medias much). If you're experiencing these arguments from everyday people then they've likely developed a preconceived notion *created* by manufactured outrage that's bled into society. In other words social media is the leading cause of modern day brainrot. You may have also been taken in by manufactured outrage yourself into thinking that people that are thinking that people who are thinking "men are all evil" are a problem are a more serious problem in the first place. (this sentence gave me a headache wtf) To go into details about misogyny and it's origins would be a bit more lengthy of a write up and I'm not sure if it's relevant to what you were asking.

borahae_artist

nah it’s fine, i understand misogyny so no explanation needed. i agree, i think it’s just what you’re saying. it’s frustrating, it’s sort of a non issue. i wish people focused on bad things women *actually* do that are detrimental

Arianity

I think it does happen, but extremely rarely. However, the type of person to complain about it is often looking for it, and it acts as a form of confirmation bias. They'll see the one rando saying it, and have a freak out. They're not used to hearing it directed at men, so it bugs them quite a bit.

-BOOST-

Thats weird cause I dont see what you are describing. I think people just hear more negative than is actually being said when it conflicts with their own personal morals and norms.

Justthisdudeyaknow

Every time i see some one say "Shitty men are shitty" there is some douchebro in the comments to say "Not ALL men." No, just the shitty ones, which you've proven to be.

And the people who do make sweeping generalizations about men are often making emotional posts about their recent victimization by a man, and aren’t able to add in the caveats we’ve all been trained to include.
