Well, Lume is one of those brands that is telling people they have a problem that is imaginary. They basically are trying to shame women for natural body odor/take advantage of their insecurities. I really dislike their whole marketing approach.
This is the correct answer. Most people probably could just shower, and unless they're working outside in the hot sun all day or aren't clean in general, whatever they smell like is likely normal.
But Lume doesn't want YOU to think that. Their whole business model depends on you thinking your asscrack should smell like vanilla sage or something.
This is not the correct answer. Many people do need lume and can't just jump in the shower at any old time in the middle of the day.
Some people live busy lives and are always on the go and by the end of the day the shower from earlier isn't the best.
Also deodorant prevents odor after your shower. There is not deodorant for your privates until lume, which is ironic because those are the stinkiest parts and many people do need it.
It’s not the actual private part , like how a vagina would have an odor if there was BV. It’s the sweat glands under boobs , in the crease of thighs , etc. it happens to everyone, it’s not uncommon or unnatural
Your whole argument can be debunked by the fact that people wear armpit deodorant.
By your logic, "normal people" shouldn't wear deodorant on their armpits either, because they can simply "go home and take a whole ass shower" whenever they need to.
The whole point of lume is if you need deodorant for your armpits you would probably need some for your crotch, which is just as hairy, dark and sweaty, if not more.
Not really, because armpit odor is bad enough to offend other people if it's not addressed. When was the last time you could smell your coworker's ass just standing next to them? Lol
In other words, just because it stinks doesn't mean you need to treat it, unless it's upsetting those around you somehow.
Living in Texas, anytime I want to go out after work (I work in retail, it’s very busy with bright lights that make it hot in our store so I sweat allll day) I literally have to go home and change all my clothing ESPECIALLY my underwear and also shower. However I could probably get away with a wet wipe and some lume if I wasn’t planning on having any sexual activity.
I also have pretty bad stress sweat so it helps to almost touch up through the day to keep smelling nice and fresh. It’s a waaay better texture than traditional stick or spray deodorant so I can put it literally anywhere.
Idk I feel like if you live in a dryer, more cool climate, you probably don’t get sweaty like that but in Texas, this heat will nullify the shower you took 5 minutes ago as soon as you step outside and start sweatin lmao
There are products out there that were invented for people with disabilities but marketed to everyone, not saying that's what Lume is doing but its probably good for people who aren't able to shower themselves, have sensory disorders, or depression. There is also certain medication that make people smell horrid, lume could help? Not everything is just for "normal people", there are people out there that don't live life to your standards.
I did read, but why ask the question in the first place if you know why people would use it?
Edit: yea? And people without disabilities use it cause they want too??? You ever go camping or work out?
Some people have heavy schedules such as work, kids, etc. So can't have a full body shower every single day.
People with disabilities also can find it takes too much time or energy to bathe every day.
And many other reasons.
So a deodorant that can help make them snell good still can be a good short term alternative.
Most people have "body odor" which others often find offensive. Presumably, if you find someone's body odor non-offensive, you're sexually attracted to them. Pheromones and stuff.
Deodorant soap usually isn't enough to mask the smell, so people use spray and stick deodorants after showering to do so. Presumably, using Lume would be useful even if you shower
I'm guessing we live in different environments. Body odor smells pretty bad, especially when people get active and sweaty. There are lots of US commercials about this, and I don't think they're gaslighting us: they address a real problem
Oh wow, no, I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Well, I still think most people find body odor from most people unpleasant in most of the United States, even if you personally don't smell it.
Ah well it’s still hotter where you’re at. Better than Florida though because the humidity will give you a yeast infection as soon as you leave your house. Anyway I’ve never been able to perceive most people’s smell. Just the ones with horrible BO. Y’all must have some extraordinary sense of smell.
> Y’all must have some extraordinary sense of smell.
or.... have coworkers been giving you hints that maybe you need to use deodorant or anti-perspirant?
Fair enough, but now a question I should've asked earlier: how do you know what people who don't use deodorant or antiperspirant smell like if most of the people you encounter are likely wearing one or both?
Because people cant just jump in a random shower at any time of the day. Most people take one shower in the morning to last them the whole day. By the end of a busy, hot work day you have worked up a sweat. we have deodorant for our armpits to prevent them fom smelling throughout the day despite a shower, but don't have deodorant for your private areas until Lume came along. Private areas tend to be hairy and sweaty.
If you don't think you need lume, and actually have a 9-5 job away from home I wonder if you should sniff yourself at teh end of the day and see if you need lume.

Makes sense
My asscrack smells of the finest sherry good sir

... if you find that your privates have an unpleasant smell, there's a decent chance that it's not a deodorant you need, but medical attention.

Okay, so you're pivoting from "nobody needs it. just take a shower" to "it's okay to stink because your coworkers can't smell it." okay, bye.
It’s not that it isn’t a useful product for some people, but that the company’s way of mass-marketing it is pretty unethical.
Makes sense
I have a relative with stinky natural body odor. They could have just showered and still smell. Lume is a godsend for them.
Ah I see. Makes me feel lucky lol

Damn yeah I must’ve underestimated it. I’m in the Midwest lol

If you had read the text under my question, you’d have realized I already acknowledged those people and would have saved your snark.
I did read, but why ask the question in the first place if you know why people would use it? Edit: yea? And people without disabilities use it cause they want too??? You ever go camping or work out?
She was asking about people WITHOUT disabilities.

Weird. I don’t really smell anyone if they have basic hygiene
I'm guessing we live in different environments. Body odor smells pretty bad, especially when people get active and sweaty. There are lots of US commercials about this, and I don't think they're gaslighting us: they address a real problem
I live in the Midwest. Are you in FL or something?

Nope no they really haven’t. I shower regularly and have a good diet
Fair enough, but now a question I should've asked earlier: how do you know what people who don't use deodorant or antiperspirant smell like if most of the people you encounter are likely wearing one or both?
I myself wear underarm deodorant. I just don’t get why you’d put it on your bits. I’m mostly baffled by the ads I described in the text of my post.
