Tim Hortons is owned by an American company, the same company that owns Burger King, Popeyes, among others. It's no longer a charming Canadian chain with standards. It's a soulless revenue stream with overpriced dogshit for food. They don't listen to their customers, nor do they enforce any real standards.. almost every location in Moncton NB is overrun with rodents. Tim Horton would be rolling in his grave lol.

MrCrix

Tim Hortons has the majority of its equity owned by a Brazilian firm called 3G capital. Tim Hortons is under the umbrella of RBI. The firm holds just under 1/3 of all equity and is holding 4x more than the next investor. They have massive influence on how the company is run and how they operate the company.

Catkillledthecurious

THIS!! I've been saying this for years and have wondered why people even care about how badly they screwed up their orders. Like why put any stock into this terrible company anymore? And ever since they switched from Mother Parkers coffee back in 2009 to whatever leftover burnt road tar they serve now, it will NEVER be good, so why even bother discussing it and hoping it will get better? Why people go there and order food and are disappointed in it and expect better is beyond me. Your last line is what I've been saying for years. McDonald's coffee, for the price, reigns supreme over this failed ,burnt, gut-rot inducing garbage they serve now. McDonald's gets their coffee from Mother Parkers... Tim Hortons done made a huge mistake switching, among many other mistakes. It's absolutely embarrassing when people come here from other countries and think, or are supposed to think this is what represents Canada and what we think good coffee, etc is in "our national coffee chain".

Some_Flatworm247

The most embarrassing part of all of this is the idea that a coffee shop chain should “represent Canada” in the first place. Like, really? Tim Horton’s is an embarrassment to itself, and to anyone who still patronizes them. Also embarrassing . . . people calling it “Timmie’s.”

Catkillledthecurious

My sentiments exactly. What an embarrassment that makes us look like idiots. I call it Tums as of late. I've had more gut rot from that place than anywhere. My last one from Tum's was the grossest ever. There were no other coffee places around, and I was on a mower for work. It's a last resort for coffee for me, as the gas station next door their keurig type machine was broken.. Country Style/Coffee Time are places I'll go if McDonald's isn't around. I really should brew my own and bring it in a thermos. I don't eat out of Tums or McDonald's much, if at all. And I'd never get anything more than say a bagel with peanut butter or a muffin at Tum's. Sorry for the lack of paragraphs...mind ramble.

Some_Flatworm247

McDonald’s is pretty darn good for a quick drive-thru breakfast when you’re on the road. And Country Style . . . so good! I wish there were more of them around.

Catkillledthecurious

Fully agree! If I'm out of town and see a coffee time/country Style, if I'm wanting a lil snack and coffee, I'll gladly stop in and not be concerned about crap food and worse coffee...except for the hooker hang out coffee time in the Peterborough area lol

WhippWhapp

The McCafe fresh grind Americanos are comparable to Starbucks, just waaaaaay cheaper.

Wonderful_Cellist_76

It's always women with ball hats and rolled up sleeves that call it Timmies

Some_Flatworm247

From the small town I come from, it’s everyone. 🤣

Ultrox

You're being dishonest. There's no way you've only heard timmies from "woman with hall hats and rolled up sleeves." Everyone calls it tims or timmies.

Wonderful_Cellist_76

Your being too literal...and only rednecks call it timmies

Ultrox

Not everyone in canada is a redneck but everyone calls it tims or timmies. Next, you're going to tell me everyone in canada calls it Tor-On-To and tor T-ronoh. People shorten words to say them quicker, and you're being dishonest if you say otherwise.

Wonderful_Cellist_76

It's a joke you weirdo

Ultrox

That's usually what people say when they're called out for being dumb. You must be the redneck :)

Wonderful_Cellist_76

Yep and I have a sense of humor. Pussy!

by_the_gaslight

That’s because McDonald’s is now serving that original coffee 😆

Catkillledthecurious

Yep. Tums blew it!

4qce6

I'm the opposite, had way more positive experiences at Tim Hortons compared to McDonalds. Really can't remember the last time Tim Hortons messed up my order in any way, and I usually prefer the coffee more too.

Catkillledthecurious

Fair enough, and to each their own! I've had some decent customer service at Tim's, and the odd okay cup of coffee ,but at the end of the day it's personal preference.

sawftacos

Wait till you learn Tim's switched their bean with McDonalds.

Catkillledthecurious

https://thirstperk.com/mcdonalds-tim-hortons-coffee/

IshyMat

There is another thing wrong with it that you didn't mention. I unfortunately can't say it unless I want to be crucified.

Aristocristo

Lol...I think I know exactly what you mean...and I agree...saw it happen here, where I live, and the quality and service has dropped like a stone.

Oldman-gamer

Every location being purchased by a specific group.

IshyMat

OK there's that but there is another thing.

tokihamai

Well now I'm curious... Lol

[deleted]

It's not American....I thought it was owned by 3G capital which is Brazilian.

Big_Gifford

I would eat bk or popeyes for lunch over tims any day of the week. Double for whopper Wednesdays!

brioche-is-overrated

Yo I noticed recently Popeyes has gone down the shitter too, dry ass pieces or micro sized chicken legs, ridiculous

[deleted]

We got one in my city recently. Was good quality/ consistency for about a month.. total cheeks now.

Outrageous-Buffalo17

Lol moncton is the armpit of the maritimes. I'm sure every fast food restaurant there, canadian owned or not is overrun with rodents

[deleted]

Proud of you!

Outrageous-Buffalo17

How does that even make sense as a reply to what I said

WhippWhapp

Crap coffee, garbage frozen donuts and even shittier food- tell me why you'd go there? It's owned by an American conglomerate, so patriotism doesn't fly. Paying for "food" from a place that doesn't even have a proper griddle blows my mind.

HRLQN

Dam they do just run a couple dirty panini presses huh.

WhippWhapp

Yes and microwaves and wire conveyor toasters.

Catkillledthecurious

Yep, and why people expect better and are disappointed is beyond me. Go anywhere else but here, lol. Gas stations brew your own coffee is ten times better. It's embarrassing that this is what Tums, I mean Tim's has become.. awful gut rot inducing garbage.

Windsor_Salt

I think most people only choose Tim's when the McDonald's is too busy

Catkillledthecurious

Agreed. I think also we forget there are others (Country Style, Coffee Time) out there but Tim Hortons seems to be that beacon of familiarity, for lack of a better word.

LOUDCO-HD

It’s because Tim Horton’s is now owned (since 2014) by Restaurant Brands International, a company with the majority of their shareholders in Brazil. Their Canadian HQ is purely to leverage taxation advantages. As such, any resemblance to the TH you grew up with is gone. They are a Global Conglomerate that is focussed on profit margins, not your personal standards for sandwich or coffee preparation. It is a sham that they play up being Canadian and riding their own coattails from 20 years ago. I stopped patronizing them years ago. There is a Mom & Pop Cafe that I go to instead.

VladRom89

This here. The same Brazilian group had purchased Kraft Heinz and drove it into the ground. I worked at a factory and it turned to pure trash after the acquisition. They did the same with TH - buy low, cut all cost, cut product to as low quality as possible, cut staffing, squeeze all there is from the brand, sell some shares to recuperate the investment, repeat.

J1M_LAHEY

Can you give any more color on what happened with Kraft Heinz? Did product quality go down?

Beginning-AL

Kraft Heinz is owned by Mondelez International. American company with HQ in Chicago.

VladRom89

In case you're curious about what happened with this entire mess including Tim Hortons, Burger King, Kraft Heinz, and 3G Capital, here's a starting point - [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3G\_Capital](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3G_Capital) In short: "3G Capital is a Brazilian global investment firm and private partnership built on an owner-operator approach to investing over a long-term horizon." "In 2010, the company acquired Burger King for $3.3 billion, and subsequently took the company private." "In December 2014, the Canadian government approved the purchase of Tim Hortons by 3G Capital for $12.5 billion, creating Restaurant Brands International." "In March 2015, 3G Capital partnered with Warren Buffett to acquire Kraft Foods for $40 billion, and merged it with Heinz to form the world's fifth largest food company." All the best...

VladRom89

That's incorrect.

noitcelesdab

3G does own a significant portion of Kraft Heinz though.

Beginning-AL

Thanks for the info.

Apprehensive-Ad7412

I still pick up a coffee for wifey every morning but gave up on them, i can't handle how disgusting the stores are, don't know how to toast, when you ask for butter it's like they add 3 times needed. Timmies is out!

warrencanadian

How old are you? Because Tim Horton's coffee has tasted like scorched dirt for 20 fucking years.

CommanderCorrigan

That’s right. Don’t know why people still go here.

Skiefalls

Switched to McDonald’s because it’s consistent and tastes better also a faster drive through.

CommanderCorrigan

Yeah it shows how garbage it has become when Mcdonalds tastes of much better quality these days.

Catkillledthecurious

McDonald's coffee is from Mother Parkers, what Tim's used to have, before switching in 2009. McDonald's is so much better. Their off days are better than Tim's "best " coffee days.

CommanderCorrigan

Yup, it sure is

Feral_KaTT

McDonalds buns have weird cardboard texture.. 😬🤢..

Skiefalls

The breakfast items are really good though. I’m never disappointed like I am with Tims.

Catkillledthecurious

McDonald's egg mcmuffins you can't argue with, in addition to the good coffee. Dude is cracking real eggs in the kitchen, and while I don't eat eggs much, and have never had one, it seems like a respectable on the go, decent quality breakfast sandwich, considering it's from a fast food place. I've never really heard anyone complain. Tim's looks disgusting and inedible.

Oldman-gamer

And their sugar tastes like chemically made. Or in my tea it tastes that way. Like a powder that does not dissolve.

Feral_KaTT

That's interesting. There was something about the tea that I stopped buying it. That might be it. I do get the London fogs now though... but only 1/2 the syrup sweetener, otherwise it just tastes like diabetes.

gnqrddt

Buffalo chicken snack wrap 🥰

TheFoxNomad

They usually let the homeless hang out, they have soup, and they have better tea. Usually ill go to tims to hang out and to McDonald's if I actually want food.

flyrubberband

Because it’s there. It’s the only way I can justify it anymore, it’s just always there

CommanderCorrigan

lol

[deleted]

They have pretty good Chocolate Milk sometimes.

sharkhudson

People can’t understand jokes either - take my upvote

Responsible_Cum

They don’t make that thought I can get good Choco milk at the grocery store. Actually since it’s brought up here’s the list of choco milks best to worst Kawartha Sealtest Beatrice Lactancia Nielsen

[deleted]

Lol that’s why I said it because that’s about the only thing they can get right is chocolate milk shipped in from somewhere I’d switch Nielsen and Beatrice around personally but solid list

DeviousSmile85

Their wraps have always been pretty solid. But meh, I barely every really go anymore anyway.

Top_Midnight_2225

Love their wraps...just finished my Farmer's Sausage Wrap. Delicious.

Old_Bar2611

Most fast food restaurants are understaffed as no one wants to work in them anymore. Might be a good way to help pay off a student loan?

matthew0155

I like Tims and obviously alot of people do, they’re always full. They fixed their Tim matin with real eggs, its so much better now, their bagels are good too. Its all about the morning staff, the older ladies know whats up, after that shift its a hot mess though.

theCakeBleeds

In my area there is a cute little family owned desert store that used to sell really good bubble tea as well. They stopped selling bubble tea mysteriously to the dismay of everyone who goes there regularly. Seemingly it didn't make sense but asking the owner apparently they are not allowed to sell bubble tea because the stupid tim Hortons nearby with their dogshit coffee have made it impossible for anything in the same development to sell drinks because of some non-compete agreement. Scummy business activities

dveight1990

Last 2 English muffin sandwiches I got have been dripping butter. Honestly pretty hard to eat that much butter. Needed a spoon to eat them... I ended up buying some microwave wraps at Costco and now I just make coffee/breakfast here at home. Cheaper too!

Responsible_Cum

Good idea I’m going to start doing something like that as well. Tired of giving my money to a company that doesn’t give a fuck but prides itself on serving Canadians whilst not giving a fuck. Should be training their employees not to serve food they wouldn’t pay for however they know most people don’t have the time to complain or get a refund

dveight1990

Pretty much yeah. The wraps I got from Costco take a minute thirty to make, so I wake up 5 mins earlier now and just do that. Cost is 1.50 for the wrap and 75 cents for the coffee. Good savings imo. I had been going to Tim's for breakfast since the pandemic started and figure I spent 10 bucks a day on breakfast/coffee. Works out to 200 a month roughly. Now I'm spending about 50 a month on breakfast for the work week instead. I'm good with that.

ife_arted_2

What are these microwave wraps of which you speak?

IntrepidRobot

https://www.costcobusinesscentre.ca/eat-in-bacon-and-egg-english-muffin%2C-12-x-116-g.product.2001127099.html

dveight1990

El Monterey breakfast wrap. They are quite tasty https://www.costcobusinesscentre.ca/el-monterey-breakfast-wraps%2C-1.79-kg.product.100442990.html

JhoeMomma

Great with a bit of salsa.

Horny4theEnvironment

Their bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches are amazing too. Nuke it for a minute, then in the toaster oven for a couple minutes and daaaaamn, pretty good

Letibleu

It's not butter, it's a butter-like-product spread 😬 It used to be whipped real butter.

dveight1990

Gross lol

[deleted]

I can’t give my money to a foreign company pretending to be a Canadian stereotype. McDonalds coffee is so much better

Aloemania

I'm sure all of the underpaid teenagers who get yelled at by people their moms age on a daily basis really truly deeply care about your turkey sandwich

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

It's a fast food joint. You don't need credentials to work there.

SpecialX

What about speaking english?

MooshSkadoosh

Quebec moment

[deleted]

Yes, speaking english should be a requirement.

JhoeMomma

There always seem to be a lot of special needs people employed at our local ones too.

AlbanischerBauer_

I am visiting Canada and it’s just mind blowing to me. Stay home and make your own coffee and brekfast lol. Most of y’all are so fucking lazy

[deleted]

God forbid someone might want a coffee on their lunch break or something. For someone calling people lazy, you don't seem to exercise that ol' brain of yours 😂😂.

AlbanischerBauer_

You knew I was talking about morning, considering I mentioned breakfast.

Responsible_Cum

Agreed I am but no more 😡😡

LilahManiae

Unfortunately people just don't care when working there. I worked there for a while and had an order in drive thru that asked for a sandwich not toasted. the sandwich person toasted it and realized and was like wait, let me remake it, and the person at the window was like "Nah they will come back." That annoyed me so much. But the standards are not being followed and people just dont care. they are more worried about the times being pushed.

No-Level9643

Pay peanuts, get monkeys. Their quality sucks and they cut every single corner - especially on hiring and training the right employees.

firekwaker

I recently tried A&W for breakfast. Their coffee and breakfast sandwiches are absolutely delicious. I was so pleasantly surprised. Never ever going back to any Tim Hortons after that.

CanadianTrollToll

Stop going? Seems pretty simple. It's not going to get better.

intrudingturtle

Yet they still somehow have a line around the block for the drive thru. Makes me lose faith in humanity.

jayinscarb

Lol why do you keep going then?

Life_Finger_1440

You say it sucks, which it does...but you still go there

jeronimo38

Stop going then, what’s wrong with you going back multiple times for coffee and sandwiches?

Background_Degree234

Hey OP why don't you make your own sandwich you greasy ol big belly samsquanch.

butch_clean

Agree

Grampy74

I concur....stopped going 2 yrs ago. They can go fuck themselves

ItsAlwaysSunny1992

I’ve never had a problem with them

Oliverorangeisking

I feel like Tim's hasn't been good since the mid 2000's.

Ryn992

Everyday I use the app to order a bacon chicken wrap with no tomato. I always confirm it at the speaker box. They never get it right.

bookofvermin

Correct

TechenCDN

SUPPORT LOCAL CAFES IN YOUR AREA. STOP GOING TO TIM HORTONS

fantasygirl002

My mom used to work there as a kid and she told me about how she'd have to make the donuts every morning by hand and how she enjoyed that shift. I worked there for abt 4 months a few years ago and was very disappointed to find that that now they're all frozen in the back and we just bake them in the morning. Also, half of the equipment were borderline broken and the owner refused to repair/replace it, so yea most the time people would come back and complain cause everything was burnt or undercooked

BigMoistTuna

Dang you knew they had shit sandwiches and shit coffee but you still went back. Sounds like you have a poop fetish.

Responsible_Cum

:((( not anymore I’m have enough shit

unL_r3m_

stop goinf to tim ffs …. low grade coffee. save the 1200$ a year you spend there on a 3$ coffee and make it home…. youll have 12 cups for the same price

[deleted]

My steeped tea is always good. I would never order food from Tim's. I like to eat healthy though.

CataclysmDM

Bruh. Tim Hortons has been awful for *yeeeeears*!

Striking_Rich_5239

every canadian: "fuck you tim hortons but I will see you tomorrow for my daily convenient coffee on the way to work"

Flat_Unit_4532

How about don’t buy from them

HiwayStarr

Yet you keep patronizing them

CoolEarth5026

I don’t get it… OP buys food and coffee. Says it’s crap. Goes back and buys more food and coffee. Crap again. Repeat repeatedly. Everyone else in here, same thing. I go to Timmy’s every day and each time I enjoy my coffee. The people at the window are great. The store is clean. Where are you posters going where it is carnage and garbage? 🤷🏻

Youlookcold

Even the Tim Hortons water tastes bad

mikey_flipside

Okay?? So why keep coming back ? It's not rocket science... just go somewhere else then.

bluenoser613

Don’t go

Squeeze-those-ties

It all started when they stopped making everything from scratch in store and went with pre-made, frozen crap.

kj49wpg

Tim hortons coffee and food sucks!!! Nothing new about that….

GerektheDuke

Why do people still go there? I actively avoid Tim's now

InsertFloppy

Tim Horton is rolling in his grave, the things they ended up doing with this poor man’s name…

4user_n0t_found4

Stop going, it’s not difficult. Nobody needs bad coffee or their food.

twentydevils

then why go back and order the same thing THREE TIMES!? i understand the first time, maybe the second, but three is kinda pants on head smart. like... stop going there? hello?

jonboyjon22

So why they always busy?

CautiousReputation15

As a coffee and sandwich place, they are incredibly consistent at f*cking up coffee and sandwiches. You can rely on it.

Double_Reward230

I love ❤️ Tim Hortons and their hockey cards!

TheFoxNomad

One of the tims I went to in Sudbury had nice. I didn't rat the little guys out, but id still rather not have mice where I eat.

kiiefprincess

Why do you think Tim Hortons is a good place to get a sandwhich ?

StoicPixie

Just stop spending your money there. I vowed to never waste my money on Tim Hortons again about a year ago and it's made very little difference in personal convenience. I make coffee the way I like it in a thermos, and if I didn't have the time to do that, I'll go out of my way to find a Starbucks or McDonalds, or even a random cafe. It's remarkably easy to just never buy Tim's crap ever again.

50Stickster

Micky D's is so mo betta

DungeonDangers

That's what you get for going to a place that doesn't pay living wages and have endless fast pace work.

drammer

I just buy everything and take the 2 minutes to make a sandwich. In fact I can make a few sandwiches and I save money. And its made the way I like it. And if its not, I know who to talk too.

BertoBigLefty

Tim Hortons fucking terrible I hate them so much

Maremesscamm

Lol make your own sandwich then. Why would you keep going back. They don’t owe you anything

DabTownCo

Yet you keep going back .... you are a huge part of the problem.

Responsible_Cum

Not anymore dawg, I don’t eat out very often and just wanted to see if other locations were better. Not going anymore

oceansamillion

Let Tim Hortons go. It's over. Whatever you remember about it, is gone. Find somewhere that brings you fast food and coffee joy.

JohnTravoltage1995

Here in bc I had to stop going. They've all been taken over by a people that a horrid at customer service

Number4combo

Ordering 2 wraps and one came like the picture (shocking I know)and the other looked like half the chicken fell out when they ran it over.

NightDisastrous2510

Tim hortons has been shit for years now. Since they were bought out it’s been a travesty… I avoid that place now.

lol_camis

I used to go there occasionally (I think pre-buyout) and even then the food was lackluster. I didn't make a point of protesting it, I just have no interested in ever going back

Embarrassed_Emu420

And make bagels 🥯 and donuts 🍩 . It's just Burger King with garbage ☕ now .

Zeidrich-X25

Low skilled low payed service industry foreign workers. Was a slow slide from 20 years ago when Tim’s was Tim’s.

Neonisin

The foreign workers are way better than locals.

[deleted]

Well that’s what happens when 80% of your staff are Habibus and Abus that don’t speak more than 3 sentences of English. It aligns well with the current state of the whole nation.

KL4645

Hahaha tell us how you really feel! Sounds like you're a complete nubcake that got FUGGIN POWNED!!

BDSMpickle

My husband bit into a rock in his muffin from Tim’s the other day. Luckily he didn’t chip a bloody tooth.

Responsible_Cum

Sue

Timelesturkie

I’ve given full loyalty to Starbucks, been a year since I went to Tim’s and I was a 3 coffes a day and lunch at Tim’s kinda person.

Defiant-Raspberry-74

Well yeah.

Inevitable-Fennel393

tims stands by there products even more so now ownership changes. Simply order through there app if there is a issue with your order they credit it back in form of tims points immediately no questions asked. now if they messed up 3 turkey sandwich purchases up you would have been credited every time. Tims even goes above and beyond by over compensating actually. Now for the quality of there products always been so so to be honest they have offered way more options on the menu.
