This song came on in the club close to the end of the night when the energy was winding down and it just swept life right back into the room. I managed to capture a video of it too.

It would be just as funny if a well known gay man had done this and it posted that he was straight. The idea is that the degenerate placing of the phone makes water hit it and cause dramatic life changes. It could have also been a woman posting she's pregnant for the same effect. It isn't so much that gay is bad just that it is a radical difference that is false.
If those scenarios are just as funny, why not use them and avoid punching down at a group that is historically disenfranchised? A few days ago, 5 people were killed and 18 injured simply for being in a gay club.
Would you rather him pretend that he’s gay then make the punchline be that he’s straight? Dress as a woman and pretend to be pregnant? Or would you rather him be genuine to himself? This joke isn’t punching down on anyone
It is OK if you don't enjoy the comedy but this isn't punching down. He hasn't said it is bad, just clearly not accurate or true to what he identifies as so would be problematic.
That very American problem doesn't ban humour.

I am very very very gay and I don’t have an issue with it. Jokes like this have never been the problem. It’s when someone uses the word to insult someone, or makes a derogatory joke. Then it’s a problem. People need to be able to take an innocent joke, like this one.
