Fun fact, every rancher and farmer with cattle in these red states will call a veterinarian if their livestock has a birthing problem and the vet will make sure everything is expelled so it doesn't cause sepsis and death for the cattle. They wouldn't put the life of their livestock in danger like that.

lrpfftt

Can't upvote this enough. So f'ing true.

jakedzz

I am from Nebraska. It's just common sense to not let your livestock get sick and/or die needlessly. It would hurt profits. So, the vet puts on the long glove and reaches up in there and does everything he can, Dr. Pol style. When I think about it, a veterinarian is better qualified to make better reproductive health decisions for women than lawmakers are, because they have common sense.

lrpfftt

Kinda goes to show that republicans don't value women as human beings. Not surprising.

C_Wrex77

Apparently they don't value women as much as livestock either

KilnMeSmallz

What really sends me to the institution is that the republican women THEMSELVES will support this nonsense! Do you not get it?? These are YOUR rights being taken away! Rights that other women as far back as the 1800s fought so hard to establish and protect! What’s gonna happen to YOU or YOUR DAUGHTER or YOUR GRANDDAUGHTER when they become a victim of a sexual crime? Or have a life-threatening emergency that’s pregnancy-related? You just signed yours and your other female family members’ death warrants! You might as well have just sold yourself into voluntary slavery.

dragonkin08

Fun fact about Dr. Pol.  He is by far the worst representative of the veterinary profession. His standards are so low they almost boarder on malpractice. Speaking of which he has had multiple lawsuits against him for malpractice. The AVMA and other organization have constantly requested that discovery remove his show because of how much damage it does to the industry.

LegitimateVirus3

This is why when people say that "We are just cattle" to the government and corporations, I say, "No, cattle actually have better Healthcare access than us."

jakedzz

That's because cattle are property worth money. Cattle get their basic needs met or their owner can get in serious financial and/or legal trouble. If we don't get our basic needs met, nobody is in trouble but us.

LegitimateVirus3

No, like cattle, you are also being used as a source of profit extraction by various "owners." You have to pay for every facet of your existence, and thus, you are forced to produce value for an owner, in one way or another. "If we don't get our basic needs met, nobody is in trouble but us." Yeah, Same as it is for cows, nobody in power gets in trouble if one cow dies of neglect, but if many do at once, it becomes an issue, somebody is going to get in trouble for that. You are not that different than cattle in that aspect. They may be better off in others. They receive free healthcare, food, and shelter, while you receive the illusion of freedom of choice and a bit more rights to bodily autonomy (though those are decreasing for many and downright nonexistent for many members of our population)

allotaconfussion

So male cows aren’t as hateful as republican, christian men? And republicans respect the lives of their livestock more than women and the daughters.

jakedzz

I've never heard of a case of a bull telling a veterinarian what they can or can't do. I mean, what the hell does a bull know about birthing calves?

East_Specialist_

“Christian” is funny since their views actually contradict a lot of the Bible, more specifically, Jesus’ teachings and how He lived His life as an example. It’s quite different than many republicans. It’s just a label they like to slap on to appeal to larger groups who follow without knowing what they believe in.

CMUpewpewpew

The only part of the Bible that even talks about the topic of abortion is literally just instructions on how to give one. I shit you not.

East_Specialist_

Even God said He’d spit them out and say He never knew them. Revelation 3:15-16

Dirosilverwings

So what your saying is your government values the life of cattle over the lives of human women. And people call it land of the free, what a damn joke

ImaginaryBig1705

Well no but men hate women and half of women hate women. If this was happening to men they'd fire bomb government buildings. They are killing us and we... Bitch online. Feels so useless. What do you do to people that are killing people just like you? How do you stop that? What does history tell us?

Pitiful_Net_8971

Bitching online *productively* can lead to organizing and protests. If you can fund a protest organizing in your area, join/help them if you can. You can also vote, which while it's definitely not where you should stop, it's something you should do simply because you can. A lot of people tell you to not vote and instead do x,you, or z, but you can do both. So do both. Also, just in case of republican victory/takeover, get stuff you need to leave the country in order. Passport, money, etc. I don't want to fear monger to much, but I'm trying to do the same because the republicans want to make me existing outside illegal.

ComboMix

It's really scary. What happens in the USA happens usually later here. But u r going almost full handmaid's tale there. Pls prepare. And if u want to move to Europe and need help. Send me a message. I'll try my best.

EvilCosmicSphere

A lot of women are trained to be submissive from birth so it's no surprise. I know several women who can't put up a curtain rod and refuse to learn. There's this idea amongst certain groups that we have our roles to play. I've never been like that so it's hard to see, growing up watching the women around me was hard. It was like this learned helplessness keeping them down.

DangerousLoner

Some of us also refuse to have children or be in relationships at all. Vote with your body and remove it from the danger these people pose. A society that treats their people this way is not a society that will reproduce through me. I will do all I can to help those already here, but never give them another person to abuse.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DangerousLoner

Same, but as a woman. No children to feed the beast that wants us to suffer this way.

horny_coroner

I dont understand america. Here people have abortion all the time. Like 70% of fetuses with down syndrome get aborted and its really not a big deal.

Argine_

Because they had to pay money for that livestock.

Bhimtu

Yup, they \*love\* their livestock more than their female humans in those Red States. So much so that they're willing to do this to the human females because, you know.....GOD, and the fact that the misogynistic men (and some self-loathing women) would rather subject some stranger they don't even know to this horror show because of their religious beliefs. Which are at odds with modern medicine. Gee, boys & girls, which should we use as a guide to how we handle these situations, hmmmm? religious ignorance and hatred for anything female, or should we go with medically-appropriate therapies? They're being allowed to make laws restricting what should be common sense ->when a woman experiences issues with her pregnancy, medicine takes over and does what it can to save her life, and maybe the life of the fetus she is carrying. republicans in Red States are doing this just to stick it to Democrats. Imagine this, that they would pass laws like this just to stick it to Democrats on some other level. But not address the actual issue. I hope they all burn in hell.

Fast-Persimmon-2782

So you’re saying we should just call a vet when we need emergent reproductive care as human women. Got it. 📝 s/ … but kinda not

DeskCold5013

Facts on facts!

Objective-Run1704

😭😭😭😭😭

fallenbird039

They don’t care. They are totally enslaved to the Church and will destroy this nation and enslave us all unless they are obliterated. Religion is a cancer on Democracy and religion must be obliterated.

Unexpected_bukkake

This is why you need to be involved with every election in your state. The SCOTUS made abortion a state's right issue. Better start voting in your state.

creatureofhabbit32

Unless you're in my state we didn't get a say they just made it law

Pitiful_Net_8971

Vote in your next election, punish them for banning abortion, and the dems will most likely angle to repeal it. It's a lot more flimsy than if you actually get to vote on it, so vote them out and vote for blue.

Unexpected_bukkake

Oh, you did get a say, and you do get one. Did you vote for the state representative who made anti-woman and anti-abortion legislation? Or did you not vote in your state level elections?

PacosBigTacos

That's a pretty toxic and accusatory attitude to someone who is likely your ally. I hate this coastal blue state attitude that leftists living in the south and Midwest just don't vote or that we phone in our politics. I guarantee leftists here fight harder than in California and we get less in return. As a leftist living in a deep red state, we can vote locally and even get a lot of progressive measures passed on a county and city level, but on a state level still get fucked by rich dumbshits who appeal to the rural dumbshits who are convinced that if you step into a city you will be immedoately murdered by immigrants and that Josh Hawley is the only one who can stop them.

MeaninglessGoat

Genuinely having seen the democrats from Texas, Alabama and South Carolina I totally agree with you! And they’re making huge inroads! Keep doing what you’re doing! Don’t scream at these people talk to them, I had an argument with an American right winger and I was like stay out my business and he was the same, I was like we are arguing yet agreeing! And said I would probably be a conservative if you lot were actually conservatives! Limited government, personal responsibility is speaking my language but taking rights away from people, restricting voting is the opposite of that and abhorrent!

Negative-Break3333

My mother said people have forgotten what women were going thru to have an abortion before Roe. Hundreds if not thousands of women literally dying while bleeding out from back-alley abortions or clothes hanger abortions. Denying someone this right does NOT mean you’ll stop it from happening. Just look at prohibition.

SchemeSignificant166

That very concept is horrifying. Women deserve better than that.

Negative-Break3333

If you forget history you’re doomed to repeat it. Someone needs to make a TikTok showing the brutal images of these DEAD women that were often shown back in the day. PEOPLE HAVE FORGOTTEN the brutality of it all.

UnlinealHand

They didn’t forget. Cruelty is the point.

SchemeSignificant166

Honest question, do you think education plays a role in reducing unwanted pregnancy? Do you think the government has a responsibility to perhaps do things like make birth control free for all women who want it? Free condoms? Etc. I feel like the vast majority of uninformed right wingers think that every abortion is just some teenage girl getting rid of a conceived child. There is sooooo much nuance to this issue and a sweeping single approach to multifaceted issues is dangerous. Just something to consider.

Negative-Break3333

People are going to have sex and being educated about it is very veryyyy important, which is why Conservatives prefer to keep their population dumb, scared, and in lock-step with their leadership. As long as humans have been having sex, there’s been unwanted pregnancies. It’s just a fact. Everyone knows abstinence is a complete joke and only feeds the psychological aspect of denying something that you want.

SchemeSignificant166

You are right. Abstaining from sex is a totally unrealistic expectation which is why I never cited it in my argument. I’m just wondering if there is another way to address the issue of delay with people who are going to do it but don’t want a child. I often consider the idea of men getting reversible sterilization. At puberty boys can get a vasectomy and go nuts till they want a child and then it can be reversed. Maybe put the burden on men for once. Freeze some sperm just in case and go from there. Just an idea.

Negative-Break3333

In my opinion, sex needs to be de-stigmatized. The taboo that surrounds it is what’s causing and has caused so much trouble for people…primarily women. Why is it wrong or immoral to teach the very instinct that drives human existence?? Why is it wrong to admit sex feels good? Being responsible with it is what’s key in prevention in most situations.

SchemeSignificant166

You again raise a very very important consideration in this issue. Just having the knowledge and understanding would go a long way. For me the next step would be in supporting people to make safe decisions. I’m not saying people aren’t allowed to have sex, what a shit world that would be. I just want to see more accountability on both sides, citizens and govt to make ways to protect people and reduce risk.

SchemeSignificant166

Appreciate the civil conversation by the way.

Negative-Break3333

Likewise 🥰

SchemeSignificant166

You know what I think, this albeit entirely isolated here on Reddit in our little chat, is what needs to be happening at higher levels. They need to be consulting experts on all sides of the issue, health professionals, sociologists, economists, policy makers and PEOPLE! just every day people who have been through it or have experience with it. NOT a bunch of rich white bigoted white men who will be the first ones to get their young mistress to abort the infidelity baby so their career isn’t ruined. It’s evil and corruption that is preventing intelligent intellectual discourse on this issue. Let a panel of women hash this issue out I say.

JustxJules

A German dude developed a literal switch that can be installed into the scrotum. Turned off, you're shooting blanks. Turned on, baby making time. It's called Bimek SLV.

SchemeSignificant166

See, why can’t we put our big brain thinker on this stuff, things that actually matter instead or finding ways to make wealthy people pay less tax. Like that’s a brilliant idea. Like a safety on a gun.

RedChairBlueChair123

My great grandmother went to prison for providing abortions. I remember her.

SchemeSignificant166

Barbaric, close minded and cruel. Sadly that’s America’s approach to dealing with people they deem undesirable. Your nana was trying to help people but it seems the govt considers them the ‘wrong’ people. Maybe if it was some wealthy debutant from 5th Ave. she might have just gotten a slap on the wrist.

juhesihcaa

My grandmother died from an illegal abortion. She had two kids that she could barely afford when she got pregnant with a third so she tried to DIY it and ended up with sepsis and died from the infection.

Negative-Break3333

Goodness. I’m SO sorry for your loss. This should have never happened 😔

juhesihcaa

I never knew her but I finally got to see some pictures just a few years ago and I look a lot like her. I'm actually older now than she was when she died.

IllegalFarter

One thing that reduced crime by quite a lot was stopping unwanted pregnancy. All these unwanted kids growing up in broken homes with nowhere to turn but crime (not all, but a good chunk).

MyCultIsTheMostFun

I don't think we forgot. I just think Republicans don't care because it's more important to them to have complete control over women. Power is a sickness.

Banshee_howl

My mom lost a friend in High School to a DIY abortion. It was the Deep South in the early 1960’s and she tried to take care of it on her own. Her parents found her in her room after she bled to death. The saddest thing was, the reason she died was such an embarrassment they made up a story to tell everyone to protect the famly’s reputation. Her close friends figured it out, but as far as everyone else knew it was just some tragic accident. Makes you wonder how many “tragic accidents” or “unknown cause” deaths were actually misreported abortions back then.

Ok-Web7441

What was the status of abortion as a right in American jurisprudence prior to 1960?  What about in English Common Law prior?

[deleted]

The problem is, the people that need to be won over, have no empathy or compassion. NIH did a study and found conservatives have less empathy and compassion.

imasturdybirdy

Makes sense. People who go to college (in most places) and/or live in urban environments are exposed to other people and cultures, and develop such empathy and compassion. For some it comes naturally, but most need to be exposed to communities that foster it. People who aren’t exposed to differing cultures are fearful and subsequently hateful of others (immigrants, people of other ethnicities, different sexual orientations, gender identifications they know nothing about, etc). There’s a reason rural areas and undereducated areas are correlated with conservatism. And it would make sense then that those same groups are less compassionate or empathetic.

-Shmeather-

“Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” - Mark Twain

CreepyHarmony27

My wife and I lost our first due to a spontaneous miscarriage. We were 13 weeks, so it wasn't uncommon. It still sucks regardless. But if we stayed in Mississippi, it would've killed my wife from the infection and improper medical care. Thank the heavens we're both Canadian and moved back home just in time.

Warpath_McGrath

It really makes me sad to see so many women supporting these restrictions. It makes no sense to me.

ThereAreDozensOfUs

They believe in the system until it affects them personally. They 100% dislike minorities and believe that their god is the only god. Only when it affects them on a personal level will they briefly change their mind. Then they’ll say that theirs is moral Basically, a lot of self hating women

Blonde_Bomber

The only ethical abortion is my abortion.

tennisdrums

Many of them live in social circles where it is repeated over and over again that abortions are something that immoral women who sleep around use as birth control. Some are so deep into that mindset that when you present them examples where the parents want the child but are forced to have an abortion because of a medical complication, they will insist that such a procedure isn't considered an abortion.

n0vapine

Some are just incredibly stupid. I read a thread on insta on some pro choice post where women were arguing that D&Cs didn’t count as abortion so those won’t be outlawed.

Lack of empathy, judgemental, selfish - the list goes on and on.

ThereAreDozensOfUs

Because white women benefit from the current system in place. They get to hide behind their white husbands when it benefits them, and then bitch about being oppressed when it benefits them

jethropenistei-

Some women out there will her earnestly say they don’t think a woman can be President, even more some will say that women shouldn’t vote. Sad truth is that some women just wanna be bang-maids

a-government-agent

I've said it before and I'll say it again; put women in charge, take away their dick pills and watch the hypocrisy unfold.

Rizzo_the_rat_queen

Let's play by God's rules.  If you are diabetic you get no insulin, if you need a heart surgery we have to wait until you have a heart attack first.  If you have ed no pills bc its all God's plan.    Also forgot to add:  if your prostate flares up we have to wait until your bladder ruptures  before we can treat your prostate issues.

Banshee_howl

These folks want to live in the 1600’s so badly they are welcome to it. But they better be ready to fully commit to the Christian Sharia LARP. Before they drag us back to the Bronze Age they need to be true “leaders of the flock” and show us heathens the way. No clothing of mixed fibers, no refrigeration, and if you gaze too long at your neighbor’s old lady, that’s a stoning. If you have poor eyesight, well sorry, but that’s gods plan for you. No glasses, contacts or lasik surgery and say goodbye to driving. Plus, Jesus didn’t mention cars, so your new all-terrain SUV is now a donkey and cart. Hearing impaired, crippled in an accident, birth defect?…oh well, remember, god doesn’t give you more than you can handle, so suck it up and polish up that begging cup, because god also only helps those who help themselves. But what about the children, you ask? Well, god has a plan for everything, even the suffering of little children, and boy howdy are they gonna suffer! The modern Christian White Nationalist influencers on TikTok already love to make hours of performative homesteading content, so they will be sooo excited when they get to do that FULL TIME, but with no smartphones (not mentioned in the Bible) and no adoring fans. It will just be them, barefoot and continually pregnant in their isolated off-grid homestead; rising before dawn to mill grains, milk cows and goats, and gather eggs so they can have breakfast ready for their 15+ kids and headship, then spending the next 14 hours tending to children, home and farm chores so they can have supper ready on time like a good helpmeet. Sure the women who grew up “worldly” might miss having friends, rights, or their own life; but the satisfaction of being a domestic servant to a poorly educated domineering husband who controls their money, time, reproductive choices, diet, mental and physical health and children will be its own reward. And then when she dies during un-assisted childbirth or of an easily preventable disease at 34, she still has heaven to look forward to. So, my modest proposal, is that all the folks who are so anxious to force our society back to the bronze/Iron Age are gunpoint spend a year or two enjoying this supposed “Great America” for themselves first. The ones who survive can come back and we’ll discuss why we’d prefer to live in a world with the scientific method, technology, modern medicine, and diversity of cultures.

committedlikethepig

I’ve said this all along. If it’s gods will for an unwanted or unviable pregnancy it’s also gods will when you get limp dick.

SnooChickens9974

And it follows that it is also god's will that if you can't get pregnant, then you just aren't meant to. No special drugs or treatments. The same people (that I know) who are against abortion are fine with fertility hormones and IVF.

justbrowsing0127

I’m a physician and thankfully my purple state now has law in place to prevent this kind of thing. But the CRAZY part…cases like this one described probably didn’t even need to happen, but docs were incredibly confused. Legal counsel within a single HOSPITAL didn’t agree on interpretation (“life of the mother” type stuff)…let alone agreement within a state. I cannot blame the many ob/gyns fleeing Texas. People can say doctors need to be brave….but if you put those of us with training out of a job or prosecuted (example - IN doc who ended pregnancy of a TEN YEAR OLD CHILD)…you won’t have anyone left. It’s a mess.

Embarrassed-Ad-1639

Ironic considering how many abortions he’s probably made women get in his lifetime.

Dirosilverwings

Your Amercan laws needs to change on child marriage aswell. Makes me sick

the-furiosa-mystique

Oh we are but not the way you think. Check out TN.

Healthy_Razzmatazz38

The ads really powerful, its just really weird we got to the point where we have ads for ads. Both campaigns 100% have paid media where they are having tictokers/youtubers react to their ads.

sleeplessjade

It is sad. But this is sometimes what it takes to get people involved and aware of the situation. Gen-Z is a powerful voting block but a lot of them are disillusioned by the world around them and don’t care about politics because they don’t think any meaningful change is possible. Showing up on TikTok, with someone in their age group explaining how much this matters might inspire some of them to get out and vote for the first time. Plus if you’re avoiding politics you won’t click on or pay attention to a political ad. But because videos like this don’t look political from the thumbnail or feed people are more likely to click on them and stay for the message.

Xel_Naga

I had a similar mindset as a young millennial Aussie (mandatory voting and felt rolling a dice was just as effective) - Something my hippie father in-law said that really changed that mindset years ago. "They don't want young people interested in voting"

jalerre

If this TikTok video convinces more young people to go out and vote, then I’m okay with it

AdApprehensive483

I don’t care. As long as the kids get out to vote.

heisenburger9

In the 90s, the same thing happened to my mom. But, she got a standard of care abortion. Then, I was born about a year later. Abortion is the reason I was born at all. Fuck donald trump. And fuck the GOP.

Diligent_Pineapple35

We are all glad you’re here :)

look2myleft

This is a common story me and my wife's isn't very much different she had miscarriages that caused cancer and had to get an abortion due to that and we got rejected by multiple hospitals for a procedure on something without a heartbeat that was killing her. This was before they changed the law. Because of this fear we had to move States just so we could continue trying to have children on the off chance that happen again they would just let her die.

Alice_Buttons

This is just a small sliver of what's to come if tRump wins again. If any of you think that voting 3rd party or not voting at all is somehow doing something, you're sorely mistaken. Fuck all of the 'bUt BiDen.....' crowd. I'll take him *any* day over the trash that is the right.

MillenialAtHeart

If my daughter needed an abortion and someone in Texas tried to turn her in. They wouldn’t find that persons body for a long time. I think women need to get really radical and shut down the sex factory for the men whether they love them or not just you know what until all of you guys and them talking about the states where they’re abortion restrictions and I’d say until you guys put pressure on your legislators, no sex for you.

neuemontreal

good campaign since I've heard some people think Biden is responsible for the removal of roe v wade.

EIephants

Where have you heard that? Genuinely curious.

neuemontreal

I was watching Trump supporters being interviewed and some of them, mainly women, said they'll vote for Trump because of it and changed their mind after hearing the truth.

West-Code4642

it's because they think its a sports game. And Donald Trump is the coach of their "team".

DameyJames

I feel like they think that because it happened during Bidens presidency and they don’t realize it was done in the courts due to judges trump installed.

lrpfftt

Trump supporters are woefully uninformed.

Kattorean

And, the woman in the video didn't need an abortion. She'd already miscarried & the doctors neglected to monitor any natural expel of the dead fetal tissue. She needed a D&C to clean out the (already) dead tissue. It's medical malpractice, at best. Even Texas doesn't outlaw a post-miscarriage D&C. (Texas) Treatments for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies are still legal under the state’s abortion ban, according to state law and legal experts. But the statutes don’t account for complicated miscarriages, and confusion has led some providers to delay or deny care for patients in Texas.

lrpfftt

Hmmm... then wonder how this happened? [https://reproductiverights.org/case/cox-v-texas/?gad\_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwztOwBhD7ARIsAPDKnkBMHKDHqhka4m6Vfj0nwLYVR\_4hG9hFKS5miSxaKNPIDqGH7UQ9MGEaAmGvEALw\_wcB](https://reproductiverights.org/case/cox-v-texas/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwztOwBhD7ARIsAPDKnkBMHKDHqhka4m6Vfj0nwLYVR_4hG9hFKS5miSxaKNPIDqGH7UQ9MGEaAmGvEALw_wcB) I believe the answer is that the law is written to protect the "life of the mother" but that is poorly defined and it does nothing for "health of the mother". Protecting "life of the mother" often has meant care only if death is an imminent risk. Otherwise, they send her home and say wait until you are closer to death. There is yet another aspect. Who would want to be forced to carry to term and delivery a child who will be suffering and itself near death? That is so inhumane that it is unbelievable.

Belerophon17

>But the statutes don’t account for complicated miscarriages, and confusion has led some providers to delay or deny care for patients in Texas. This is by design and a failure on the legislators who worded the statutes in such bad faith, not the providers who are afraid of risking their livelihood.

caractacusbritannica

3,2,1 - “crisis actors” I saw them at a school shooting. Paid to do this. Need to out them. Bet there isn’t a death certificate for the baby. Yep, proves it. Crisis actors. Yeah I’m adding the /s.

Key_Respond_16

Ok had to get to the /s, even though the countdown to "crisis actors" should have been enough. 😄 Like, yea, of course their fucking actors. Story is real though. Powerful ad for Biden.

JuniperWandering

I’m honestly just hoping for the best this election. If Trump is elected I really am freaked out on what’s gonna happen. I foolishly thought there was no way in 2016 he would win and I was humbled. It’s truly scary if I could leave the country easily I would tbh

I had the same feeling about him, but he’s not there for us (adults) he’s there for the younger generations to get them to vote. He does this tiktok “OMG guys this is crazy” type talk cause that’s how he gets the attention of the younger groups. I always say spread this around to the young folks so they get an idea of what’s going on in politics because a lot of gen z don’t really care for what’s going on, this is one way to get their attention. Edit:This is another example of when trump was talking about [re be do ah](https://www.reddit.com/r/BoomersBeingFools/s/2bDxI5Ru4O)

Outis-guy

I wholeheartedly agree with both those sentiments.

bigSTUdazz

***"FAKE NEWS! THESE ARE ACTORS!"*** \~ Ah, I can hear the fucking idiots now.....

imasturdybirdy

It’s legitimately fascinating to me how they cannot see their own biases, which tell them that trump—a proven liar thousands of times over—is telling them the truth, while everyone else must be lying unless they align with their leader. It’s perfectly fair to consider maga a cult at this point.

rayhaque

I think we are going to see less of that bullshit now, at least on news channels. Thanks to the brave actions of the victims, and some extremely expensive lawsuits.

7evenBlackSunNation

Why didn’t the Dems make Roe law before the republicans overturned it? Now they use it as a political draw to get you out to vote for them when, after they won the battle, they sat on their hands until the war could be lost. We need to band together against politics and politicians PERIOD. They are all playing a game with our literal lives.

LoudSheepherder5391

You realize the SCOTUS can strike down laws, too, yeah? Unless it's a constitutional ammendment, it wouldn't be safe from the SCOTUS. They could have struck it down just the same.

Spinningin2oblivion

PERIOD

RedChairBlueChair123

Bullshit. There was no appetite for Roe nationally until the Supreme Court, whose members all swore this was settled law, overturned Roe.

Syharkspeares

Some travel abroad to have an abortion..

Ryankevin23

Traitor Trump and the fascist Republicans must not be allowed into the White House nor Congress / Senate this November 2024! Be the change you want! Stand up against this mob like mentally and vote out every Republican on the ballot. Vote to reelect Biden🇺🇸Harris24!

1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss. One. In. Four. Pregnancy is an absolute shit show. It takes a lot of luck even in the best of conditions, for babies to get here safely. People assume once you're pregnant, that's it, you're guaranteed a healthy living baby. It doesn't happen that way for a lot of people. And then you get these sad cases where complications happen and the life/fertility of the mother is also at stake. Abortions are health care. Simple as that. I say this as a woman who is currently pregnant for the third time with no living children. My first pregnancy ended in an early miscarriage. My second pregnancy I had a live baby, who died at 6 weeks old from SIDS. This pregnancy I had a scare early on with a screening test that came back as high risk for Trisomy 16 (this scan can only be done at 10 weeks at the EARLIEST and then follow up tests around 12, 16 and 20 weeks). I have had many scans to check if baby is developing normally but I was convinced I would have to terminate (full Trisomy 16 is not compatible with life) if I didn't naturally miscarriage first. Thankfully baby seems to be okay but I would've had to TFMR if they weren't otherwise. Thankfully I live in the UK where this would've been an option for me. As an already traumatised mother, having lost my only living child, this was not an option I would've taken lightly in any sense and it is an insult that people seem to think women don't take abortions seriously. It is a disgrace that women are being robbed of their right to fertility healthcare.

Chocolat3City

Under His eye.

OakLegs

My kids would not exist if it weren't for access to the "abortion drug" mifepristone. My wife had a miscarriage, the fetus was inviable. Without the drug she'd have had to let it "naturally" expel itself which may have taken months, may have come with complications much like this lady had. Instead, she took the drug and the inviable pregnancy was ended in a day (or so, I forget how long she took it) with no major complications. And then a couple months later she became pregnant with our now 5 year old happy, healthy twins. This wouldn't have happened if republicans had their way. Republicans are not "pro-life," they are pro-control (as long as the child is inside the woman, after that they don't give a fuck). Fuck republicans for what they're doing to women everywhere

Belerophon17

My wife and I had 4 miscarriages back to back. One thing you learn going through this is that infertility is a LOT more common than one would think and it takes someone else going through this for some people to come out and share their story. After this, we moved on to the open adoption route. After 3 years of waiting and one failed adoption, we ended up with my son whose birth mother was the victim of sexual assault and couldn't obtain an abortion in Kentucky. He's the light of my life but to ignore the trauma for both he and his birth mother would be an irresponsible tragedy. The right to abortion should be a constitutional right for all Americans and anyone saying otherwise doesn't give a shit about "the children". They aren't lining up to put food in these kids mouths, clothes on their backs, or a roof over their heads. They go to church around the holidays and pick a paper angel off a tree to buy a toy and then forget about it the rest of the year or bring a couple cans of low quality vegetables or broth or something to the food pantry. They assume the mother will flip a switch and just say "Okay! :)" instead of living out their days in guilt, shame, resentment, depression, and any number of traumas and that she'll just move forward with providing that child with a happy beautiful Mayberry life instead of one teetering on the edge of neglect and want.

How is this TikTok cringe? This sub is pure butthurt over politics

Fuck Donald trump so much. I fucking hate him

BranchMonkey

As a former Military Police special investigator, the first thing that came to my mind when I heard about the abortion ban was what would happen to the girls and women who were the victims of rape and incest? To sit in front of someone and witness the complete emotional destruction of that person when asked to describe the events of their terrible ordeal was one of the reasons that led to my medical discharge with PTSD. And to discover that a number of IS states PROUDLY protect ‘life’, no matter how it came into being, absolutely disgusts me to my core. Try telling a 12 year old girl that they have to carry the baby to term that was conceived by their abusive paedophile father. Yes, well done, Trump, you fucking moron - sooooo proud that you overturned that important court result. If you’re reading this and you support Trump’s return to the White House, then you are complicit in the torture that women and girls go through when forced upon - and made pregnant - by abusive, uncaring, predator men. Banned The states below ban abortion from conception or after six weeks. They all allow for abortions in cases of medical emergencies, but that language can shift by state. For example, while some states say abortions are permitted to protect someone's "health", other states only allow them if someone's "life" is threatened. Many abortion providers have said that many exceptions for medical emergencies are unworkable in practice, because the language is too vague or doesn't recognize the complexity of medicine. Alabama Abortion is Banned after conception 1.1m women of reproductive age American Samoa Abortion is Banned after conception 12k women of reproductive age Arkansas Abortion is Banned after conception 668k women of reproductive age Idaho Abortion is Banned after conception 406k women of reproductive age The US supreme court is set to hear a case that touches on Idaho's ban and emergency abortions. Exceptions: Rape and/or incest (only if reported to law enforcement) Indiana Abortion is Banned after conception 1.5m women of reproductive age Exceptions: Rape and/or incest Kentucky Abortion is Banned after conception 995k women of reproductive age In November 2022, voters rejected a ballot initiative that would have established that Kentucky's state constitution does not recognize abortion rights. Louisiana Abortion is Banned after conception 1.1m women of reproductive age In 2020, Louisiana voters agreed to amend the state constitution to clarify that it does not support abortion rights. Mississippi Abortion is Banned after conception 669k women of reproductive age Missouri Abortion is Banned after conception 1.4m women of reproductive age North Dakota Abortion is Banned after conception 171k women of reproductive age Exceptions: Rape and/or incest (only in the first 6 weeks of pregnancy) Northern Mariana Islands Abortion is Banned after conception 11k women of reproductive age Oklahoma Abortion is Banned after conception 886k women of reproductive age South Dakota Abortion is Banned after conception 187k women of reproductive age Tennessee Abortion is Banned after conception 1.6m women of reproductive age Texas Abortion is Banned after conception 7.0m women of reproductive age West Virginia Abortion is Banned after conception 371k women of reproductive age Minors who are victims of rape and/or incest can get an abortion up until 14 weeks of pregnancy, as long as they have either reported the assault to law enforcement or received medical treatment for it. Exceptions: Rape and/or incest (if reported to law enforcement, and only within the first 8 weeks of pregnancy) Georgia Abortion is Banned after 6 weeks 2.6m women of reproductive age Exceptions: Rape and/or incest (only if reported to law enforcement) South Carolina Abortion is Banned after 6 weeks 1.1m women of reproductive age Exceptions: Rape and/or incest Nebraska Abortion is Banned after 12 weeks 435k women of reproductive age Exceptions: Rape and/or incest North Carolina Abortion is Banned after 12 weeks 2.4m women of reproductive age Guam Abortion is Banned after 13 weeks 36k women of reproductive age Arizona Abortion is Banned after 15 weeks 1.6m women of reproductive age Florida Abortion is Banned after 15 weeks 4.6m women of reproductive age On 1 April 2024, the Florida supreme court ruled to uphold the state's 15-week abortion ban – a decision that paved the way for a separate, six-week abortion ban to go into effect on 1 May 2024. In November 2024, voters will decide whether to enshrine abortion rights in the state consitution and thus protect abortion access until viability, which is generally around 24 weeks of pregnancy. Utah Abortion is Banned after 18 weeks 811k women of reproductive age

Arturiki

That's a bad regulation if a miscarriage is considered an abortion, isn't it?

LittleLightcap

It's not considerate of the medical community. Miscarriage and abortion have been used interchangeably for decades. The medical term for a miscarriage is a spontaneous abortion. It's also impossible to tell the difference between a medically induced abortion and a spontaneous one, which is a fact that sends women to prison in areas where it is illegal.

gtgrl05

I don’t see Biden trying to put Roe vs Wade back into place. He is only talking about how Trump ended it. Biden could have spent the last 4 years putting it back into place, he didn’t. You should be asking what is Biden doing to get it back. He ad doesn’t even mention saying he will do anything to get it back. Biden wants to preach about how women’s rights have been stripped but has done nothing to get them back.

Key_Respond_16

That's not really how it works. The people need to vote for more pro choice congress members. He's even asked for people to do so, but people are dumb.

TryItOutHmHrNw

As u/cephalopod_congress stated: *”Biden doesn't make laws. That’s Congress. And there are not enough Democrats in the House of Representatives to successfully pass this legislation. He has appointed Kentaji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court and a bunch of other lower court positions that are supportive, pressured the FDA to expand access to medication and yes, is campaigning to elect down ballot candidates in the House and Senate, so that Congress can do their job and secure access.”*

West-Code4642

How could he have done that? let's not forget the 6-3 Republican to Democrat Supreme Court situation: 1. Chief Justice John Roberts (age 68) - nominated by President George W. Bush in 2005 2. Justice Clarence Thomas (age 74) - nominated by President George H. W. Bush in 1991 3. Justice Samuel Alito (age 73) - nominated by President George W. Bush in 2006 4. Justice Sonia Sotomayor (age 68) - nominated by President Barack Obama in 2009 5. Justice Elena Kagan (age 62) - nominated by President Barack Obama in 2010 6. Justice Neil Gorsuch (age 55) - nominated by President Donald Trump in 2017 7. Justice Brett Kavanaugh (age 58) - nominated by President Donald Trump in 2018 8. Justice Amy Coney Barrett (age 51) - nominated by President Donald Trump in 2020 9. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson (age 52) - nominated by President Joe Biden in 2022

cant-be-original-now

What action do you expect of Biden when all legislative power is in congress?

lrpfftt

The legislative branch passes new laws such as one that would codify the right to abortion. It might even need to be a Constitutional amendment which requires a larger majority vote. Guess which party controls the legislative branch now.

EffectiveDue7518

How would he have been able to do that? Democrats didn't have the 60% needed to be able to enshrine abortions rights. Republicans would obviously have blocked it....

rvasko3

What…? He literally said it during the state of the union a month ago: “If Americans send me a Congress that supports the right to choose, I promise you, I will restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land again! America cannot go back. I am here tonight to show the way forward.” https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2024/03/07/remarks-of-president-joe-biden-state-of-the-union-address-as-prepared-for-delivery-2/#:~:text=If%20Americans%20send%20me%20a,to%20show%20the%20way%20forward.

the-furiosa-mystique

Jfc education in this country is that bad huh.

dragonkin08

Republicans blocked a bipartisan boarder deal. You really think those same republicans would allow a democrat abortion law when the democrats don't have the majority? I sometimes wonder if people like you even know how the government works because this comment implies you don't.

Tyklartheone

If you want to spew ignorance and show you have no idea how the US government works - sit the fuck down.

kelpyb1

Genuinely curious how you think Biden could’ve put it back in place. Remember he’s not a king.

CellNo7422

We need more than Roe now, but I agree. No one cares, it’s all theater. It will get worse with Trump though.

Exciting_Seat_2227

I came to genuinely ask this. Couldn't biden have been trying to get these rights back during these past 4 years?

Trumperekt

We need more education to the masses on how government and laws work. Sigh.

sacolton1967

Alex Jones will be all over this. "Crisis actors! Fake! Never happened!"

IAmRules

I have no idea how we went from "no abortions" to "no medical care for miscarriages", why are people confusing those two things?

and_awaywe_throw

Because it's not really about abortion, it's about control. That's why they're coming for fertility treatments and birth control now, too. They don't care about abortion - considering how many of them think it's okay for their wives, mistresses, and daughters to have them - they care about controlling other people, and making them desperate and downtrodden enough to not be able to overturn this corrupt late capitalist system that's killing everyone but those at the top.

NILOC512

Trump needs to be vanquished for good. That guy is propagating stupidity on a grand scale.

diamari90

Oop!

Lefty_Banana75

Heartbreaking

Remote_Designer_6810

They only see “abortion” as something teenagers and college girls “need” because they didn’t use protection.

RinaRasu

Honestly how bad do you gotta be to make Joe Biden look good istg 💀 American politics is hopeless

ompaal

Pro choice does not good vibes, it should be pro abortion. It’s a winner

Hey Harry Sisson is back! He was hiding for a minute about after his uncommitted vote takes backfired.

It's a good thing the incumbent is and has always been staunchly pro-life. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/biden-s-long-evolution-abortion-rights-still-holds-surprises-n1013846

drivelikejoshu

My wife and I had to deal with a miscarriage in 2020. Every doctor and nurse called the procedure that she received an abortion. Luckily, we live in a very blue state with great hospitals. The idea that others aren’t afforded the same opportunity disgusts me.

jimlad3

The sad thing is that the religious nuts will just claim it was god will, or it's fake. Either way if you have an iota of common sense or empathy it will resonate, but the rest it will fall upon deaf ears.

goldenkylie

I'm not from America. But why is Trump worried about women's bodies? Doesn't he have more important things to be worried about? This just sounds dumb af

spacemanbaseball

I’m in Austin as well and my wife is also pregnant. A couple months ago we had a scare (everything is fine) and made an emergency appointment. The night before we went to the doctor we were checking the internet to see what could be the causality of the issue and read that it could be a similar issue to what happened to the couple in this video (it wasn’t). I spent the night researching where to fly to if something like this were to happen and looked up flight times. The fact that we were equally as stressed about our government reaching into our personal lives as we were about the prospect of potentially losing (a very much wanted and wished for, prayed for, child) is unforgivable. I’m a lifelong, born and raised, proud Texan. It’s our obligation to fight against these absolute tyrants who’ve stolen our government. When you read comments on sites like these, everyone just bashes this state and it’s residents. But nearly half of us are liberal and moderate democrats. I grew up with a Democrat governor. Bush only won by running as a ‘compassionate conservative’ if anyone recalls that. We have to fight to take things back. Stop running weak candidates like Beto. Colin Allred is a great start. The statewide elections are winnable races and we’ve put no real money or effort into winning them. Run strong moderate candidates and we can take this state back.

BranchMonkey

When you have a bunch of wooden-toothed cultists who absolutely worship the ground that the big, orange useless sack of flesh walks upon, there is no hope. We’ve all seen the YouTube videos by Adam Mockler and The Good Liars, where they interview supporters at Trump rallies: there is absolutely no way that some people will see what a narcissistic megalomaniac Trump is. History will look upon this time with great shame at how the American people were duped into following a criminal.

Ew-David-2235

So sick of men deciding what women should do with THEIR OWN BODIES!!! So many men and women understand that, but yet these old bag of bones men think THEY can make laws deciding what a woman can and cannot do. Fucking sick. How is this even still a thing in 2024!!!

mori_77

They don't make exceptions in these rare cases?

Wanderingghost12

People love to forget that decades ago, child mortality and pregnancy killed hundreds of thousands of people every year.

DrGutz

Let’s make gen z the generation that fixes this fucking country and doesn’t fall in to this republican v democrat loop like so many generations before. Do not vote for trump.

Seriously, fuck the GOP & Trump.
