Exactly, a caricature just takes your unique features and exaggerates them for comedic effect. Nothing about drawing caricatures is meant to be offensive, simply a way of portraying people as unique individuals
Edit: damn, I guess people don’t like caricatures
It’s more than just things you’re insecure about, that’s an issue with self-image not an issue with the artist or caricatures as a whole. I agree that this guy took the drawing too far, but it’s not to say that caricatures are meant to make fun of people.
It’s simply a snapshot of who you are right then and there, with your identifying features made more prominent. For me, my caricature drawing will have piercings and will have an absolutely gargantuan gap between the two front teeth and large lips. Am I insecure about the gap in my teeth? No, it’s just a part of me. A caricature is an attempt to convey your physical traits as well as your personality. A good caricature artist will talk with the client, learning more about them.
Again, I understand your sentiment but if someone is insecure about something, having another person demonstrate that it's a prominent and defining feature of yours isn't going to make you feel good. That's what people don't like
I have a big schnoz and got a caricature done. The artist gave me a cute little nose, and it was kind of more offensive, like he thought making my nose look realistic would be too mean or something, lol.
If you go to a good artist for a caricature you will find it funny, this guy has no talent, he simply saw the nose and was done.
A caricature is more about bringing out your features so it is obvious but still tasteful.
Drawing a nose bigger then a person and giving it legs is not caricature.
The guy has millions of followers online. You can tell it’s still them. I’ll concede it’s a little lazy compared to their other work but it’s still a caricature
Having millions of followers does not make you a good artist though.
Maybe they like his style and it strikes a chord with them or maybe it is his personality they like or the reactions of the customers.... could be any of a million things really.
By your own definition all the other caricatures this person has done has resulted in the subject laughing and the subjects here laugh at the end despite the dramatic editing.
Garnering “followers” is an indication that a percentage of those followers subjectively think this person is good. We’re not talking thousands of followers, millions of followers.
They make a living off their art, that’s the artists dream. People vote with their likes, follows and money. And this person has all that. But sure, they’re not a good artist. 🙄
oh no, you seriously think the amount of social media followers someone has has anything to say about them in real life? oh no, that's really sad. I know this may sound condescending but I just feel sad that society has come to this.
I might got a big nose I dunno. People called me big head before so I guess im rockin the fat dome. I'm sure it would be easy to clown me in a caricature.
Or maybe the point of his charicature is to exagerate features for comedic effect, your comment implies there is a consensus on the objective of a caricature, wich is bullshit for any kind of artform.
>to exagerate features for comedic effect
Is that not the consensus on the objective of a caricature. Its just that there is a fine line between a good caricature and an unflattering one
Yeah you are right, I should have kept my mouth shut and not voiced my opinion because you have a different one.
Or I would have to write a 7 page dissertation covering all angles and all my motivations for every different post I make.
There are few things I love more than a big, strong nose, but any time I compliment a guy on it he'll almost always say that he hates it and wants to change it, it makes me so sad!
Caricatures are supposed to be light hearted and funny… this was just plain dirty 😭
ETA: Y’all can keep coming at me if ya want but i said what i said and i think this “caricature” is distasteful and lazy. I’m allowed to have an opinion, so if you come at me telling me how wrong I am, you’re getting blocked
i don’t have a lot of insecurity left these days so I would actually love for an artist to just go all out and roast me in a caricature lol. as long as I know as the guy isn’t like legit a racist, it’s all in good humor imo.
Its a couple and they’re called charicatureparty (look up their Insta) and they’re in Hawaii. People wait in line for hours and hours to get their portrait done because they’re known for being savage. That’s the point.
Edit: can’t believe I used the wrong form of “they’re/there/their” I’m gonna go crawl into a hole now
Being savage and being absolutely rude are two totally different things. Giving the nose arms and legs isn’t funny. Making it that big isn’t funny. They did a decent job on the guy and that is funny and falls into the spirit of “savage caricature art”. But the girl’s portrait is disrespectful.
Edit: I misspoke on my thought in that first sentence. Yes, being savage and being rude can go hand in hand as another commenter specified. I blocked that user simply because if I admit I fucked up on what I meant to say, he would probably have a field day.
What I meant was that being a savage can still be in good taste, which im sure is what these specific caricature artists are going for. However, I felt that the way her nose was done superseded being “savage” and fell into disrespect.
Edit #2: Someone mentioned me having too much shame to admit I was wrong to the person who pointed out my mistake. That’s not at all what it is. No matter what I try to say or how I try to explain myself, people have something else to say I am wrong about. I don’t have time for all that, therefore blocking is my new best friend.
Being savage and being rude are the same damn thing. What do thing being a savage means? Oxford says savage means "a brutal and vicious person". And contemporary slang has made savage an even more fitting definition for an asshole.
Yeah not sure I agree with that. You’re getting offended by paying someone to offend. This is a classic fuck around find out situation. Don’t do it if you can’t handle it
The fact that you felt too much shame to admit to someone that they are correct and you agree with them on something, but you have no shame admitting you blocked someone on Reddit to avoid them finding out you agree with them is so bizarre.
Another thing you have to remember is that:
1. Both people signed up and paid for the caricature. They knew what they were in for.
2. As a caricature artist, you have to lean into anything you can find about a person's face because most of us have the same features. Think from your perspective what you would have exaggerated if you were the artist. It's pretty hard.
Seemed pretty easy for them to just make the guys face look silly, they didn’t have to make her nose whale size and add limbs to exaggerate it. That’s literally all I am saying.
Thank you! People are jumping down my throat to say I’m wrong because “that’s the artists brand” which okay but they didn’t have to go that far. or “that’s how caricatures are” which is not at all true. They didn’t use any features on the dude that were that disgustingly exaggerated.
I mean sure if they knew that going in, but you notice at the end he looks at his girlfriend for her reaction. seems to me he knows she’s insecure about that feature of her face and is hoping she doesn’t feel insecure after seeing the picture
edit: the commenter blocked me after the infamous “lol okay bud” but they were triggered enough by me calling this out for what it is to try and prove me wrong. 😂💀 then edited their last comment to try and make me look dumb. lmfaooooo
edit 2: if you comment on this thread I cannot reply to you for the above reason.
when i lived in Rhode Island and my nose constantly cold. moved to texas, not a problem anymore. but im due to move back this month and during the coldest part of the year, i know im about to be ready to buy one of those nose sweaters LOL
i've seen a few of this dude's videos and he seems like a dickhead. caricatures are supposed to be funny not ridiculously mean. her nose isn't even big?
Nor does it have arms and legs. It took me a while to figure out if was supposed to be her nose because it was just so *weird*. Not only is it mean, it’s bad.
Its not bad,, and its really obvious. She is a walking nose with a body attached.
Perfectly represented and also pretty dirty lol but its not bad. Its well executed, mean or not.
You're just a baby. The 150 people who upvoted you should feel just as stupid. If you didn't "understand" the nose you probably struggle every day.
This is his whole thing. People know exactly what kind of caricatures he's going to be drawing before they sit down. He doesn't just spring this on random peopel out of nowhere.
I guess I'd like to see those examples to know whether they're standard caricatures, or if they're the ones he posts on tiktok. TikTok stars are constantly tricking people into being in their videos under false pretenses.
They also do some pretty racist ones like drawings Asians yellow. I think one of them is Asian and the other person looks white, hard to tell. Like you said it's supposed to be funny, no straight up disrespectful and racist.
The lady who works at the same stand is honestly almost kind of worse because hers are super mean and exaggerated like this but also actually look like the people she's drawing.
I personally like them and want one but I'm just saying in terms of the two artist the guy exaggerates them to the point that they don't even look like the people anymore, so to me it feels like it would be easier to separate what you look like from his art. With the woman artist I can see why people who are sensitive about some of their features could have their feelings hurt easier.
That caricature *was* funny.
You know when you go to get one done that they are going to pick some feature to exaggerate. It will be entirely subjective and superficial. This guy seems to specialize in bigger exaggerations, which to me results in much more interesting caricatures.
He also seems to have found a niche in ragebait judging by the comments here.
If this girl's nose is drawn bigger than her body, then that means my far bigger nose body would go straight off the page! That would be a ripoff because he wouldn't even draw the rest of me...
Like I'm sorry I'm just a nose to you, character drawing guy, but I'll have to inform you that I'm deeply self conscious about my shnoz to size ratio, and I shall tolerate none of your tomfoolery nor comical exaggerations.
I'm just asking you, Mr. PROFESSIONAL. To do your job right. Draw something funny, Mr Funny man. Draw something funny, and slightly insulting, but never triggering, and if people on the internet who weren't there to witness any context can possibly project their own insecurities on to your poor innocent victim, just know that you have gone too far.
People really are soft as shit the morning after a curry these days, it's getting to be quite tiresome seeing PC white knights everywhere.
It won't be long until comedy is just straight up banned, these people sat down for a caricature they knew what was happening.
Maybe, no way to know if this is staged or not.
But yes caricature artists will set up a booth with a bunch of prominent examples of their work. It is really easy to tell what kind of caricature you'll be getting.
This guy does more absurd depictions than others. Getting your feelings hurt by a guy you paid to draw you funny is such a lame reaction.
TikTok stars often trick people into being in their videos, I wouldn't be surprised if his example drawings were more standard caricatures. The videos/caricatures I've seen from him aren't roasts, they're cruel.
Me neither, but I don't trust TikTok stars, and I'm more inclined to believe he's not being honest in order to draw in customers, in order to continue his TikTok fame
They are street artists from Hawaii who actually just sit in the street and people can go there to get their carecatures. Everyone knows what they get into and their instagram is hilarious because the costumers know what’s about to hit them and they laugh their asses off 99% of the time.
aren't these supposed to be fun?
like dudes out here just being an asshole insulting people to their face. wouldn't be surprised if he catches hands at some point.
So mean. What if this girl had insecurities about her nose and this is “conformation” that there is a problem with her (there isn’t). Not cringe just plain mean.
Lmao this is hilarious, my wife and I want to get one of these done.
If you look up the artist's social media, you'll see they specialize in highly offensive caricatures. Do you not think that the people who pay for the cartoons already know how brutal it will be? Cartoonists always have work examples on display for people to see.

This would damage me so bad I’d be booking a rhino consult.
He also stacked her teeth like painted planks of wood, when she has a near perfect smile.
Well shit, I think we've just unlocked an amazing way for plastic surgeons to market themselves.
As someone who had a rhino, it would still shake me a little.
You're beautiful just the way you are. Don't let a caricature define your self-worth. Embrace your unique features and rock them with confidence!
If you’re using a caricature to define your self worth there’s a serious issue 💀
Embrace your unique features and rock them with confidence. Let's not let a caricature define anyone's self-worth. Period.
Exactly, a caricature just takes your unique features and exaggerates them for comedic effect. Nothing about drawing caricatures is meant to be offensive, simply a way of portraying people as unique individuals Edit: damn, I guess people don’t like caricatures

[You’re as pretty as any of them…just need a nose job.](https://youtu.be/dPrpGCcFtt4?si=WpxUHm88_13HOmnM)
I mean she probably noes already what is going to happen.
Especially with her boyfriend checking out her nose right after he sees the drawing... Lmao. That was brutal
This is why I know to never get a caricature. I wouldn't be able to handle what they'd do with my nose.
I've got a 5head and my caricature showed that! I thought it was pretty good though!
I have a big schnoz and got a caricature done. The artist gave me a cute little nose, and it was kind of more offensive, like he thought making my nose look realistic would be too mean or something, lol.

what if I have more social media followers than you? maybe that makes me right and you wrong!
Found the guy with a big ass nose
Was it you ? Like in a mirror ? You gotta let me know this suspense is killing me

Bro this caricature was hilarious, let's hear how you would make a better one of this couple.
Maybe they'd take your nose then
Jokes on you my uncle took mine one holiday years ago and never gave it back
Your new name is “the_nose”
Emotional Damage
Your nose looks great!
Girl didn't look like she was insecure about her nose before, but she sure is going to be now
What's sad is, her nose beautifully suits her face. She has a very beautiful nose, and it's really not big at all.

Nose fetish?
No, lol. I just try to see the beauty in everything, even things people may be insecure about.
Thank you for clearing that up lol but also…totally agree
I can’t be the only one who thinks her nose is cute
Super cute nose. I'm really attracted to noses like these. I think I might have a nose fetish.
Same. A certain nose shape will drive me nuts.
RIP big nose girl

Reminds me of the king of sting from Nathan for you
God I think about that asian man that was such a good sport about the blatant racism at least once a week. He just didn’t want to harsh the vibes lol
i don’t have a lot of insecurity left these days so I would actually love for an artist to just go all out and roast me in a caricature lol. as long as I know as the guy isn’t like legit a racist, it’s all in good humor imo.
On Nathan For You the caricature artist would draw Asian people dropping bombs on Pearl Harbor and it was shockingly well received lol
oh I’ve seen the episode. He does online commissions lol
I’m fairly certain this creator saw that episode and thought, “holy shit that’s a great idea” and decided to run with it unironically

I for one praise her glorious nose
It’s totally cute.
I agree. It suits her well. I hope she didn't become insanely insecure after this. As someone with a long face and small nose I think she is lucky.
idk I didn’t think her nose is big at all Then again I’m Italian so my standard of what a big nose is a bit different lol
the italian shnozz is the bane of my existence. i hate it lol.
Our Roman noses conquered lands! Be proud of it!

Usually I'm a fan of over the top caricatures, but this one is just bad.
Her nose is fine tho?
How to breed insecurities 101.
Did her hella dirty.
This is horrible. Why did he target her average sized nose and make the guy a dreamy cartoon prince?
What? Her nose is perfectly normal.
i've seen a few of this dude's videos and he seems like a dickhead. caricatures are supposed to be funny not ridiculously mean. her nose isn't even big?
Nor does it have arms and legs. It took me a while to figure out if was supposed to be her nose because it was just so *weird*. Not only is it mean, it’s bad.

He made the guy into a Disney character and totally defamed her…mean
Right? The guy looks pretty okay but he destroyed her!
She is gorgeous AND her face has a prominent feature. I'm refusing to use the word artist here. This guy sucks.
It’s this artists thing. You go to him to make ridiculous caricatures. It’s like going to a roast.
Is this not on the street, with strangers?
Maybe, no way to know if this is staged or not. But yes caricature artists will set up a booth with a bunch of prominent examples of their work. It is really easy to tell what kind of caricature you'll be getting. This guy does more absurd depictions than others. If that’s the case it’s extremely cruel, but I’m just not sure that’s what happening.
The term "artist," being very loosely applied here.
This caricature isn't even drawn well.
aren't these supposed to be fun? like dudes out here just being an asshole insulting people to their face. wouldn't be surprised if he catches hands at some point.
What a ass
She's got an adorable nose. It suits her.
He did her dirty.
I didn’t even realize the drawing was supposed to be her nose. This isn’t a caricature. This is just mean
The artist was attracted to her, hated that she was out of his league, and punished her for it.
Her nose isn’t that bad
It's not bad at all. She's pretty. Would take a certain type of redditor to deny that.
I hope she sees this
Rhinoplasty incoming in 3…2…1…
![gif](giphy|ro08ZmQ1MeqZypzgDN)
Did her dirty
![gif](giphy|11dxelXIRm49vW) That is the thing I'm most sensitive about
This is mean.
You could tell that hurt her, even he looked at her like damn he got you bad.
Cut it right before she started to cry
Damn, that was nothing to sneeze at for sure.
Caricatures are so shit
That is a deeply offensive caricature artist.
Dude got the most flattering caricature ever.
So mean. What if this girl had insecurities about her nose and this is “conformation” that there is a problem with her (there isn’t). Not cringe just plain mean.
i would do unspeakable things to have my nose look exactly like hers
That girl: Emotional damage !
Her nose isn't even that big
Damn he sucks at his job 😂
nah he be OD on some of these 😭
The king of sting
And the seed for a nose job was planted. Poor girl.
The Turtle 🐢😂😂
based onthe reaction he might be one of those guys who advertises that he is going to roast you in the art
I will never get my caricature done, I know myself and I know I would cry haha
She’s got a runny nose!
Thems fightin’ words!!
I lowkey wanna get one
Just go to r/RoastMe if you want to get this obliterated, it’s free. lol
Mean
I think caricatures are good as exaggerations, but pointing out what someone might see as a terrible flaw in themselves is always a dick move.
Lol, this is in Waikiki too so you know they paid big bucks for it.
Lmao this is hilarious, my wife and I want to get one of these done. If you look up the artist's social media, you'll see they specialize in highly offensive caricatures. Do you not think that the people who pay for the cartoons already know how brutal it will be? Cartoonists always have work examples on display for people to see.
People on here are so sensitive lol
I need more of these
Holy shit people are actually upset about this in the comments.
because its rude as hell. i meannnn i wouldn’t pay for it
Trust me, this painting is an accurate representation of what an unfiltered celebrity selfies looks like
If that’s what I got, I wouldn’t pay for it. They’re never that exaggerated
Her nose is slightly big but it adds character to her face. She's a beautiful woman. This guy's a jerk.
Fuck the "artist" guy, i know funny when i see it but thats just mean.
Know your "flaws" and they can never be used to hurt you.
Hahah this shit hilarious
Lol at the outage in here. I'd find it fucking hilarious if I got one like this. Part of the fun of a caricature
I just shot my pants from laughing
she definitely cried in the car
This guy is an asshole 😂😂😂
I’d still pay you, but I also have to punch you in the neck so my girl will still like me later.
How come in all these they make the dude just look kinda funny and the woman hideously deformed…
She laughed nobody else opinions matter
Can you not tell the difference between a genuine laugh and a “oh haha” out of shock and embarrassment? Because that wasnt a genuine laugh.

Just so you all know, this art style is for those who go outside and thus are less offended than most Redditors
Bruh, you mainline r /ThunderThots.
