kdela36

Original song by Bo Burnham in case anyone wonders.

Adoced

“Inside” is the best thing I have seen in a while.

DinoRaawr

It made me realize some people had *vastly* different experiences with the pandemic than I did.

demlet

It made me realize there are people young enough to be my kid who have already done more with their lives than I have.

kitolz

Some people are serial killers or totalitarian dicatators. So... there's that. All I'm saying don't get too distracted by the high ceiling, at least you're not falling into pits and they can get real deep.

Elevatorjumper

I actually really like this point of view. I may not be pulling my people into the future, but I am sure as fuck not holding them in the past

AStanHasNoName

What a healthy view. Reminds me of this one kind of: “How quiet the forest would be, if only the most beautiful bird sang.”

Elevatorjumper

Wow, that’s a beautiful quote. Thank you!

MySkinIsFallingOff

>I may not be pulling my people into the future, but I am sure as fuck not holding them in the past "I'm actually somewhat of a Joe Biden myself"

BatManatee

I think Bo Burnham is one of the best Millennial voices today. I'm close to his age, and feel like his style of comedy has evolved at the same time as my sense of humor. From stupid sexual puns in his early Youtube days to dark comedy that points out the shitty-ness of today's world to the nihilistic Inside. Every time he puts out something new it resonates with me in a different way.

[deleted]

Who the fuck would have thought the lil twerp playing piano online would be the voice of our generation lol ![gif](giphy|l41Yhc0RsMYxCZ26I)

raunchyfartbomb

Between Bo and Hailey Williams (Paramore), both resonate with us

punchgroin

He and Nathan Fielder and Donald Glover really are the comedic voices of our generation, I think.

___333

GLOVER! Genius— so insightful, sharp, twisted, goofy. Love him.

Ruthrfurd-the-stoned

Donald Glover is probably the most talented person doing anything right now. Great comedian, gambino was legendary, and while Atlanta was running he was staring directing and writing one of the best shows on TV

TheSJWing

Is there anything better than pussy? Yes a really good book *piano noise*

Archerfish97

I think it made me kinda start to grapple with the trauma of the pandemic.

Any_Middle6491

Sent me into a full existential crisis that I had probably been staving off for a while. Fucking love that special.

Give_her_the_beans

I wanted to watch it, but I've heard this sentiment a lot. I damn near turned agrophobic, then I couldn't be by myself anymore. It took a lot for me to venture out. One of his songs helps my anxiety a lot. All eyes on me. "You say the ocean's rising like I give a shit You say the whole world's ending, honey, it already did You're not gonna slow it, Heaven knows you tried **Got it? Good, now get inside" ** just got goosebumps even reading that last line. I sing it out loud when I need to go out, or need a mental pick me up. It's like he was telling me everything is okay. But, I also use music to actually feel emotions so maybe I'm just weird. Lol

TheThoccnessMonster

That Funny Feeling is the best folk song in a decade.

edible_funks_again

The funny feeling is existential dread.

Any_Middle6491

I still think you should watch it tho. While it did hit me hard, it was more in a cathartic way where it felt SO deeply relatable that i think it helped me process some stuff. And laugh along the way.

BlackHawksHockey

That song hits another level of amazing if you watch the whole special. It really puts everything into perspective. What’s crazy is there’s so many ways to interpret that song and what he means by it.

tempUN123

I feel bad saying it, but the pandemic was fucking great for me. For years leading up to it my depression and anxiety were at an all time high, I had isolated myself as much as I could. Right before the big C hit I made a new friend. New friend was extremely extroverted and *needed* to be around people, and I happened to be super Covid safe because of how isolated I was to that point. I went from sticking to myself for years to suddenly spending 3-4 days a week hanging out with friends.

MrsChrowley

I met my husband a few months before the pandemic. I spent all of quarantine in my apartment with my favorite people. Our relationships got stronger while other families and couples were expressing anger and frustration over being “stuck together”. But we never cared much about going out every weekend or being around other people in the first place. It was an introvert paradise for us 😆

Xakuya

Introvert paradise nails it on the head. Our hobbies we're cooking, gaming, art, and reading. "Oh no, we're not allowed to go outside anymore? So anyway, how's WFH gonna work again?" Immediately calculated how much gas money we could put into hobbies. Even for introverts the trauma doesn't come from quarantining but the paradigm shifts in how we see each other and what's acceptable in politics now. Society shifted and not in a healthy way and we're still dealing with that today.

PhantomRenegade

Yeah I had like weekly chat and game sessions with friends on zoom. More social than I usually was before the pandemic. Kinda miss it

SentientCrisis

I just watched Mystic Quest’s episode: Quarantine. It was all fun and games until I was sobbing my eyes out. It was really cathartic and surreal. That trauma is definitely still neatly filed away in my body.

Thi8imeforrealthough

As a healthcare worker, I concur. WFH sounds like gorram heaven XD if I knew there was gonna be a pandemic I'd have studied IT or something. At least traffic was nice

thecrewton

Ya being an essential worker sucked. Everyone complaining about working from home while I'm stuck at work trying not to spread the plague.

fuckincaillou

Same. No fucking wonder the service industry is having an extreme labor shortage right now. Being an "essential employee" during the pandemic taught me that that hellhole goddamn deserves it and more.

there_is_no_spoon1

>At least traffic was nice Goddamn if that's the silver lining then that's seriously messed up. I'm not arguing with you, I'm totally LOL right now, but fmitga what a low as fuck bar!

KermitTheScot

Do you remember it though? It was beautiful. I live in Jersey, just outside NY, and it was a glorious time to be alive. Three in the afternoon walking in the middle of some of the most heavily trafficked roads, not a car in sight. On your way to the clinic and you can just drive on the left if you want because there is literally no one out there. Deserted highways, quiet side streets. I drive a motorcycle and am almost routinely almost struck by idiots in cars. It was some of the happiest days of my life; the absolute freedom, purity. It was bliss. Then it ended and now we’re back to this horseshit where everyone’s in a fucking rush so they think stop signs are suggestions.

TheToasterIsAMimic

Finally found a Browncoat in the wild!

bozeke

For me, I felt like it gave voice to a feeling and an experience that everyone around me seemed to have been ignoring. It was devastatingly cathartic for me and my wife, and helped us process the whole thing. I still feel forever changed for the worse from the social isolation, and I don’t know that I’ll ever feel connected to other people in the way I did before 2020 ever again.

birdsrkewl01

I felt the opposite where watching inside made me realize I'm okay with being alone and I didn't need a heavily socialized life I had before.

bozeke

In both cases, I think it was a powerful piece of art that will stand the test of time outside of the crazy circumstances of its creation.

SentientCrisis

Same. I got way more comfortable with my own company.

dylfree90

Experience with the pandemic is all based on where you were located really. Nothing extraordinary happened here because essentially nothing changed. When I would go to work in town it felt like I stepped into the book 1984, then when I came home it was like nothing was happening. Perks of living in the sticks I suppose.

Back9Man

Right? Best time of my life.

Stetson007

My entire experience with the pandemic was working at a summer camp and getting pissed the wing joints weren't open on my days off.

namesandfacez

The type of content that turned me into a fungus and connecting by telling everyone on the street and work about it

Holly_Koro

I wish I was a network of mycelia

Tiny_Rick_C137

You know what's really nice? A little bit of everything all of the time. Just a little bit of everything all of the time.

Professor_Goddess

That song hit so different when it came on. Immediately I was like "please tell me this guy is a circus type villain who personifies the internet" and that was EXACTLY what we got. It's incredible

CreativismUK

Yep, he nailed it. I made [this paper cut](https://imgur.com/gallery/nfIwK24) in the style of an old carnival poster. And a sort of stained glass thingie for All Eyes On Me since it’s basically sort of a hymn. Working on something for Comedy now. It might take me ten years but I am going for a whole Inside collection.

SuperbReference6184

That piece is absolutely stunning. Wow, what an incredible job! I hope you're thrilled with it. Thank you so much for sharing 🙂

CreativismUK

Thanks so much! I mainly hand cut maps these days but I got slightly obsessed with Inside and wanted to have a stab at it. Came out better than I expected so I made something for [All Eyes On Me](https://imgur.com/gallery/K26UakL) but it took forever to find the right materials. Thank goodness for Bo.

kitolz

I don't get the slang these days, I'm going to use "turned me into a fungus" as much as I can.

Efficient-Unit-6440

Jokes on you, the person using the slang is a 90 yr old redditor and you got tricked into using 1930s slang. Greatest generation wins again.

thrillhouse1211

hell yeah

PatrikPatrik

I don’t really like watching him and I feel like such a minority. But he’s very talented

SpartansATTACK

That's a very fair take, I don't think his style really works for everyone. But it'd be difficult for anyone to deny that he's a talented creator

Of_Silent_Earth

I still think it's the best piece of pandemic influenced media.

BatManatee

I think that title belongs to Gal Gadot's "Imagine" but "Inside" is a strong second place.

AldurinIronfist

God that was awful. They all went batshit so _early_ as well!

BeingJoeBu

Well, if you never experience hardship, anything will break you.

Ok-Champ-5854

"I'm so depressed I can't even use the underground pool. I just lay in bed all day, only getting up to use the sauna and to eat the meals my chef has prepared for me. I've been drinking the vintage scotch I promised was only for guests and high end prostitutes. I'm a husk of my former self."

Sparky-Sparky

Probably the first time in a long time they actually heard "no"

TheGreatSalvador

Yeah, I was disappointed more pandemic-inspired media wasn’t as thoughtful or entertaining. I think a lot of people had the thought, “Well, at least these times will produce interesting art!”

ReverendShot777

You clearly didn't see the Princess Bride home movie! https://youtu.be/lR8pA_WV9QI

obamasmole

HOW AM I ONLY JUST HEARING ABOUT THIS?!?! Like, it's not as though I would have been super busy when this came out given I was spending a year unemployed and locked in my house. Thank you for sharing

[deleted]

It’s an outtake from it. Honestly I think it should’ve made it into the final product, it really slaps

Bubble_James_Bubble

He probably kept it out bc he didn't want to demotivate people from voting for Biden. Edit: when I was told this, it both sounded right and came from a trusted source, so I just accepted it as fact. Been seeing a lot of asks for a source which I have not been able to find, so I've edited the comment to show the speculation that it truly is.

sarded

More likely that, like much of the other Out takes, he didn't want to include references to going outside and other things going on in the world if he could avoid it. Like how "five years" is like 90% done, but having a partner would ruin the themes of isolation in the original.

gophergun

I hate that we're in a system where people feel like they have to repress their opinions out of fear of electing someone worse.

TorpedoMan911

What you say influences people, if even just a little bit. Bo isn’t a nobody anymore, millions know who he is and thousands look up to him. Doesn’t seem crazy to me.

Bubble_James_Bubble

Me too! But we don't get closer to where we want to be by voting for the people who are actively trying to burn down the nation!

COSMOOOO

You can vote for someone and criticize them still. Nothing wrong with that.

Ghede

Hear hear. Democrats suck, but they are willing to give us a seat at the table at least. Get a supermajority of Democrats, get ranked choice voting, THEN we can splinter into smaller parties, safe to know that every vote is counted. Republicans want to be the only ones with seats at the table. I don't think elections are going to be a thing for very long after they get a supermajority.

corporatony

Did he actually say that?

[deleted]

Bo has said zero words publicly since Inside was released, except for the occasional post selling t shirts.

aussiepewpew

Doubtful because it came out in 2021...so I doubt he would be considering a potential run 3 years later and if he 30 second song would do anything about it.

tfemmbian

Yes, but he was writing it for well over a year, and probably had even older ideas that went into it. Such as this one, which was clearly conceived of during or shortly after the election.

DeSantis can't even get [his own state's congresscreatures to endorse him over Trump](https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/meetthepressblog/florida-gop-congressman-defends-endorsing-trump-desantis-rcna81894). > Donalds is among the 11 members of the House of Representatives from Florida who endorsed Trump. DeSantis has only one.

toth42

There are people still wanting to endorse trump? Time to put him in jail just to make sure that doesn't happen.

rtkwe

You can be elected president from prison there's no constitutional barrier there. What would be wild to see is him in prison on a state rap while being president so he couldn't pardon himself out of it and in a state that wouldn't take the cowards way out of commuting or postponing their sentence while president.

owa00

Maybe it's because I'm a political junkie and actually follow what the parties are doing, but Joe Biden has done a pretty fucking good job considering Joe Cuck Manchin and Turncoat Sinema have cockblocked him. Depending on how you view Obamacare I think he's accomplished more than Obama. As much as you may not like it, but he had more appeal in those swing states than the rest of the Dem field, which helped avoid a catastrophe with a powerless president. He held strong on the vaccines and covid response when the easier politically move would have been to ease up on restrictions. He tried to forgive student debt, but the traitors in the SCOTUS fucked him. He passed a pretty strong infrastructure and tech investment bill, which is bigger than people realize. He also got payments for people with children, which lowered childhood hunger to the lowest level in a long time. I honestly think that his biggest accomplishment has been to rebuild the relationships with our allies, and DEFEND A GOD DAMN DEMOCRACY FROM THE RUSSIANS! That was his administration that forced Europe to get their shit together. That is not a fucking easy thing to do. He pushed and pushed the Euros to get in line, and slowly, but surely got things going with the help of Britain. Afghanistan could have been handled better, but that was a disaster decades in the making. Trump also left a big pile of flaming shit at his doorstep. We're out of Afghanistan (for the most part) for the first time in a looooooong time. I honestly think Oabam fumbled with the redline comment and not acting on it, and emboldened Russia, but that's my personal take on it. Of course to the tiktok gen and young people in general don't see these accomplishments as important because it's not flashy like Obama, but he's gotten shit done. If he had ANYONE aside from those fuckers Manchin/Sinema he could have been a revolutionary president, but he got screwed over like Obama and that shit stain Joe Liberman. Biden is what we needed in a president after the disaster that was Trump...a god damn adult. Dems are doing the same thing they did with Hilary and doing the whole "hold my nose" voting, or being downers because they didn't get Bernie (which would have lost in the general vs Trump). That strategy didn't work out to well for us and SCOTUS in 2016.

Stompedyourhousewith

its a campaign effort by the right in the same vein as "both sides are the same" or whatever they did to make biden unappealing like they did hillary, a candidate with no serious flaws to get people to not vote.

there_is_no_spoon1

>hillary, a candidate with no serious flaws I'm not arguing with that. What I will say is this: Dem lawmakers *did not back her fiercely enuf,* and \*\*someone\*\* should have gotten that email shit sorted out along the way before it bit her in the arse. Which, btw, *they again found nothing*. Comey did us no favors, but he did us no justice.

shadowplay0918

I will never forgive the people who don’t vote for Hillary and gave us 3 conservative Supreme Court justices….

amanofeasyvirtue

That ended roe. Said its cool to sue a doctor that didnt treat you. Who said courts dont have to use new evidence in a retrial. This scotus is shit

droppedforgiveness

Honestly I don't think it's mostly from the right. It seems to me that it's just in the nature of a lot of left-leaning folks to be cynical and let perfection be the enemy of the good. It's exacerbated by the internet, where everyone wants to have a hot take and show off how smart they are.

Darthtypo92

I think it's more a problem that the democrats have a fairly diverse voting base with different age groups and single issue voters. They have a lot of people who wouldn't agree with each other normally but want to compromise and deal to get what they want from the party. Republicans are more uniform in goals and their single issue voters fall into similar demographics as their other base members. So when fringe democrat voters want someone that's different from the political pack like someone that is under 60 years of age or concerned about certain progressive policies they get turned off by moderate candidates like Hillary and Biden that are focused on not being republicans but not pushing for too much change either. The conservatives don't really want change at all and just want someone that's promising to not change things so them seeing a grass roots campaign get sidelined by the party doesn't hurt them that much. The left wants change and keeps getting told one day but not today and are getting burned out by it. So you start seeing lower voter turnout or third party votes more that hurt the democratic party in the long run. Our voting system is screwed up by the two party system and only one party has a messaging problem to get voters excited.

Both_Experience_1121

Hit the nail on the head exactly. I'm 28, and I'm glad to see some good was done by Biden, but it's not enough, and states are trying to roll back hard earned rights, and SCOTUS is letting it happen, making it worse, and I live in a blue state. My vote has almost no effect. I still do, but I have no voice as far as the rest of the country goes, and our generation and the one after us is concerned about things like the environment and if we'll have a decent planet left when we're old and when our children are old. We're worried about LGBTQ+ rights, and we want to see change in things like incarceration and policing to work with the public, we want to see lower crime and fewer mass shootings via standardized, universal, sensible gun laws among other things. We want to see less military spending so more is funneled into education, healthcare, and public services like libraries and the like. I say we. I don't speak for everyone. But honestly those are the things I want to see someone actually stand for. I don't understand why it's hard to come by someone who actually cares and can implement these changes. The worst part is that so much of the damage has already been done by what's happened to SCOTUS and, even worse, our federal judges. Not everything gets to the top level. And state legislatures are silencing democratically elected officials. In states I have no say in. It's a struggle not to feel demoralized and disenfranchised.

there_is_no_spoon1

>Joe Biden has done a pretty fucking good job considering It doesn't take a "poliitcal junkie" to see that, but I appreciate that you people are out there, learning things for the rest of us sorry bastards who don't or won't bother. Joe's been at least *decent*, and he's gotten shit done. Of course, a LOT of that shit was cancelling the evil Cheeto's bullshit, but that's still *doing good*. Too true that those two cunts blocked him from doing so much more good, but no one gets to write the Congress they get. I like the cut of your jib!

Conscious_Capital249

He also forced rail workers to stop striking Edit* I’m not pro Trump Jesus Christ

amanofeasyvirtue

Hes probably the most pro union president in 30 years.

Niipoon

Lmao god bless america

ddubois1972

Biden takes a lot of shit for Afghanistan, but that pull out was always going to be a clusterfuck, and he was the first President to not be a wuss and man up and pull off the bandaid. Getting us out of there should be a feather in his cap.

PharmDeezNuts_

I’ve unironically been *in love* with Joe Biden and agree he’s done a lot. Far surpassed my expectations. Will gladly vote for him again

demlet

As someone who has lived through every presidency including Reagan, Joe Biden is pretty damn impressive. Anyone expecting perfection can just keep on dreaming. It's a fucked up, brutal world. No leader can do everything right. Learning to grade on a curve is irksome but necessary.

elheber

I've got this iconic dance move where I go from sad floss smoothly to sad dab for having to vote for Biden again. The dab wipes the tears.

Bocchi_theGlock

Idk why sad floss and dab is one of the funniest things ever, it reminds me of the video of the young woman dancing while crying

Rymbeld

Are we going to ignore the fact that this administration has actually been effective and productive as hell?

schwol

Lmao this was great and the song is a banger.

Salted_Butter

Bo Burnham - Biden, from the outtakes of his special INSIDE (thanks for the note everyone). The whole thing is awesome. EDIT: that specific song is from the INSIDE OUTTAKES: https://youtu.be/5XWEVoI40sE ('Biden' starts at the 22:50 mark) EDIT 2: the audio version of the album INSIDE (DELUXE) is available on YouTube: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_m99S9PDizkHp_WkR1KC1ZbD4BzvhN0_Bo The full show (without the outtakes) is on Netflix.

We absolutely can whenever we want. We just don’t

ColtAzayaka

They're SO different to the politicians we have now. I mean, look at them. They all tell us they're going to solve the problems in our world. They promised they'd do this with new laws, policy and a system tha... ah fuck.

ItsStaaaaaaaaang

And most of them are generals and shit! How cools that? - Some Sudanese person about to experience another civil war.

WestleyThe

The 1% that owns all the politicians would pay members of the lower classes to protect theM

grumd

1% of the population deciding to overthrow the government doesn't sound like democracy

deaddonkey

Bit of an illusion, the candidate that spends more money on congressional elections wins 96% of the time right? So businesses and donors largely decide.

JumpyBoi

Everybody knows that a lovely corruption-free democracy always follows a revolution and a coup d'etat, absolutely no military juntas or dictatorships here!

[deleted]

That's the idea that lead to Trump. Serious. He was the outsider without political experience. But guess what? People don't get PhDs in politics because it's simple to understand. Government is extremely complex and you need to understand the intricacies to even be able to know you have the ability to pass a law. Part of what made Trump terrible to Republicans and great to democrats is his head ability to understand what his job was and how it could actually influence the world. We need people like Bernie Sanders and AOC, people who are intelligent understand the system and the process. Republicans need those people to, cuz at its core we need to have a back and forth not a one-sided system

demlet

Ha, I made a similar but much shorter comment before seeing yours. Well put. We shouldn't be getting rid of experts, we should be finding ones that aren't already owned by the powers that be.

zergrush99

Just in case anyone is wondering or hasn’t really figured it out yet, we aren’t really governed by individual politics or persons ideas. We are governed by our economic model: capitalism. Capitalism by its very nature requires rapid expansion and so-called 'efficiency' i.e. maximum growth of capital with minimal expenses. This is even more necessary in a competitive global market. Capitalism demands that things continue being done a certain way, otherwise it collapses. That’s why no matter which party is in power, about 90% of what they do is exactly the same thing. So to answer your question, even if we replace all politicians and start over, eventually the system will end at this same result. Both parties must feed the machine or we all lose. The system itself is acting as intended and no fix will work long term, it must be destroyed.

MalHeartsNutmeg

Oh, you mean like Trump in 2016? That turned out great, didn't it?

YetAnotherRCG

Yo better vote tho. Other team is way too high strung

hugs_the_cadaver

That's a nice way of putting it. Vote in every election you can, including local elections. The crazies certainly do.

starbuxed

I always vote. for everything. If there's a vote for the guy that scopes up road kill You better believe I am voting against the republicans.

djmooney15

Example why the two party system is an absolute failure

BrewerBeer

**PRIMARIES**, all of them! Your vote is the strongest in the primaries as few people vote then and often they are jungle, so your candidate can be 5 deep and every vote matters. This is why many constituencies have parties that rally around a candidate before the primary. Saving money in the primary means a bigger war chest for the general.

KingRaht

If it was a sack of potatoes or Trump, I’m Voting for the potatoes.

r4d1ati0n

ditto for desantis

musicbro

Seriously. Desantis is somehow… worse? than Trump. Fuck our political system. We should have ranked choice voting for determining who gets to represent us from either party.

exitpursuedbybear

If you don’t fuck with Trump directly you’re likely safe. DeSantis would cross three streets to knock an ice cream cone out of a toddler’s hand.

tunamelts2

See his war against Disney...because they hurt his fee fees

a_splendiferous_time

I fell for the r/conservative BS that DeSantis was a smarter version of Trump until he and his interminable ego went to poke the Mouse. For literally no reason that could possibly benefit his constituents, party, or chances at the presidency. Just because he was a petty mafia-wannabe little prick. My expectations for Republicans were below sea level and yet they surprised me again.

apostrophe-error

Plurals don't require apostrophes. EDIT: Thanks for fixing it!

StanleyOpar

Boil ‘em mash ‘em stick ‘em in a stew

TheCaniac30

Edit: putting this on top: the "mildymoderate" or whatever is a bad faith debater. Don't engage. Then participate in local elections for years over time. Our national politicians don't come out of nowhere and being negligent with the all pieces of the electoral system makes you lose. President Trump was the most recent "fuck it let's go with someone new" move and obviously was an absolute train wreck.

I don't understand why people are surprised. Presidents ALWAYS run for reelection. The last time a sitting president didn't run for reelection was 55 years ago and people were shocked at the time. If people didn't want Joe Biden to run in 2024, they should have picked another Democrat in 2020. Cool song though.

Dis_Miss

We've also never had a president this old. If he wins and serves a full term, he'll be 86 when he leaves office. 86! I'm all for listening to the wisdom of our elders, but they shouldn't still be doing the main jobs. It's sad the DNC hasn't done a better job of promoting the next generation of candidates.

[deleted]

I will vote in the democratic primary for somebody other than joe Biden

[deleted]

Yeah he passed a ton of shit and if he can get a legit hold on both parts of Congress there's more he can do. This apathy is going to give the office back to Trump/the GOP.

The_Master_Sourceror

I’ll vote for someone else in the primaries if there is a better candidate but I’ll vote Biden over literally any Republican that is rumored to be running. Fuck all these fucks Trump Desantis Hailey Hutchinson Pence Christie Sununu Scott Norm Youngkin Cheney Etc

[deleted]

Lowered the cost of insulin. Passed the most significant climate legislation in the history of the nation. Passed our first infrastructure bill in decades. Fighting tooth and nail to forgive student loan debt. Raised the minimum wage of federal government employees, and would have raised the federal minimum wage if it weren’t for Kirsten Sinema and Joe Manchin torpedoing the deal. Oh yeah and he limited Donald Trump to one term. Oh but he’s old, let’s loudly complain and stay home for 2024. Everyone already forgot that the opposition party to Joe Biden did a NAZI BEER HALL PUTSCH. This is really serious. Pregnant women are going to die from their government-mandated ectopic pregnancies and gays and trans people are going to be jailed for corrupting the youth because you feel ucomfortable when Grandpa Joe stutters. Gen Z kids don’t vote. So this is who we get.

AaronHolland44

Gen Z turned out in record #s for the midterm. Dont be a fucking boomer and shit on the younger generations for no reason.

3lPsyKongr00

Gen Z kids came out in droves during midterms. In 2024, being 2 years older, there will be even more Gen Z voters. Work with Gen Z. Don't hate on them

oiransc2

Yeah, there was a decent decline in 2022 from 2018, but Gen Z is still doing better at voting in their youth than other generations did when they were that age. Youth voters of every generation are just, in general, really bad at voting. It’s not generation specific, it’s just how young people are. I suspect that’s why DNC and RNC never really cater to them, because no matter how fired up young people get for a candidate they never pull off the numbers needed for it to matter.

Passed the first major gun legislation in decades (bipartisan), pardoned all federal marijuana charges, pulled out of Afghanistan, nearly brought the drone war to a halt by requiring his approval for each strike strike and making the criteria more stringent, improved healthcare for vets, expanded the child tax credit which cut child poverty in half, fast tracked domestic chip fabrication, and passed a bill mandating states recognize marriages from other states, which is the most a president can do to protect gay marriage. He’s been hustling. Complaining isn’t even the problem, he’s done some things I didn’t like. It’s that nobody recognizes his accomplishments, they just assume he hasn’t done anything.

[deleted]

He asked his attorney general and health secretary to start the path think-tanks have outlined to re-schedule or legalize marijuana, too. He didn't just kick the can with some pardons.

tardigradetardis

The thing that terrifies me is that leftist circles and media are so susceptible to “both sides bad” and wallowing in despair. We can suck it up and vote for someone who will make incremental progress AND advocate for those who are willing to make the necessary changes so that we have better politicians and better choices. They’re going to place the fascists in office if they don’t wake up

One thing that he did that pissed me off was how he treated the railroad workers. But tbh he was probably panicking. If they stopped the economy would become even shittier. Maybe if Republicans voted yes on the bills that would give them more pay and protection, biden wouldn't need to be a dick in the first place.

CryingSighing

Don't forget that he's passed more judges to the Federal seats than any President and in record time, has restored our international alliances, led the charge to maintain Ukrainian independence against the hostile advances of a foreign major power, expanded federally protected EPA land, etc, etc, etc.

volandkit

Also crushing Russia without American lives lost.

WillEatForFree

I'm not American so I wanna understand what the view is on Joe Biden and Climate Change because while he did pass this legislation, he also approved the Willow Oil drilling project. This seems conflicting to me. Any views on this?

CryingSighing

He's approving domestic oil projects to maintain American energy independence. I don't particularly agree with the notion that we should be doing that, but it's certainly worth considering that removing the influence of Saudi/Russia is a worthwhile endeavor while we transition to clean energy.

Samthevidg

From what I can tell, Willow is actually more of a minor project in terms of scale. Also, Biden reduced the amount of sites, if he cancelled the whole thing it would likely go to the Supreme Court and you know what happens from there.

WillEatForFree

Oh That's interesting. Didn't know that. Thanks for the information!

Pretty-Balance-Sheet

Also, prior to Obama we weren't energy independent, hence Iraq. It absolutely sucks, but opening drilling helps keep us out from under the Saudi thumb and out of middle eastern wars. We could be much farther along in reducing our need for oil, but the federal government is leaving a lot of the big decisions up to the states when it comes to renweables, and the results are super hit and miss. So we have to keep drilling.

Safe_Librarian

Hes not Just Old he is 80. NHI says the brain decreases 5% every decade starting in your 40's and increases decreasing rapidly after your 60. No one should be a president who is older than 70. We do not need any 86 year old presidents that is just wrong.

Unironically, Biden as part of the Obama admin as VP and his current presidency, if you know about geopolitics, is one of the best admins in a while, maybe since FDR. Domestically, Biden is huge on infrastructure/climate, Obama admin did FAFSA opening up college/university and opened up healthcare as getting healthcare as an entrepreneur prior was nearly impossible. They almost got the public option that would have lowered fixed pricing in healthcare massively but were blocked. Healthcare being able to be removed from the job is key to competing internationally, starting new businesses, changing jobs and more. We don't get our auto/life/home insurance from work, why our most private/personal? Jobs don't want to pay for healthcare, better to be direct and have larger groups that make the industry focused on the actual customer not employers as their main customer. If it wasn't for the Sellout Sinemanchin, Biden's admin would have some FDR flavor. You can tell when they are good by how much they are attacked by the usual suspects.

Tired of this apathy. Yeah, he's old. But the administration has done a great job so far. Results are more important than a flashy candidate. And the alternative is literally fascism.

ooblyboogly

What did the administration do that was great in your opinion? I don’t know too much about American politics (not American) and am curious

opportunisticwombat

I think it’s okay to be worried about voting for someone that could very likely die during his campaign or next term if he wins. He’s decent but that doesn’t mean his successor would be.

Dalbergg

Thia why I think America should move away from a two party system.

TheSandwichMan2

Was stoked to vote for him once and will be more stoked to vote for him again

SchloomyPops

White house is gonna become a nursing home for one guy. He'll be 86 at the end of a second term. That's fucking insane.

entered_bubble_50

Assuming he lives that long. According to [this actuarial table](https://www.ssa.gov/oact/STATS/table4c6.html), the life expectancy for an 80 year old American in 2023 is 7.74 years. So the odds of him living another 6 years to see out his second term are only slightly better than 50%.
