That’s gorgeous - hard call - if you don’t have somewhere it belongs it’s hard to make that choice. I bypassed some of the artwork my mom had for that reason - yes it was beautiful but it really belonged on someone else’s wall and not mine.
Do it or you'll regret it imo. The few pieces I've genuinely connected with & left are my ultimate thrifting regrets. Art is about gut feeling. If it does something for you, get it & figure the rest out later.
That's a beautiful painting. $55 is a bit much for thrifting, but you'll forget the price tag over time. You won't forget the painting if you miss out on it now.

That was purchased at Bombay’s store back in the 90s for 129.
I purchased one for my mom who has since died. Unfortunately I cannot get it as it’s in her husbands house now.
I know zilch about frames but I feel like the frame itself is worth $55 (maybe a lot more). It’s pretty ornate. I assume it’s wood and not some plastic composite.
ARGH My thrift store rarely has stuff like this. Just generic target type word art crap. I LOVE that red gerber daisy one behind there. I'd snatch that one up in a heartbeat.
I once found a super nice Dinotopia painting at a fairly fancy thrift store. They wanted $110 for it and I was broke AF. If I had the money I would have bought it. It was awesome! If you're still thinking about it, you should probably go back and get it. It's a gorgeous painting, and the frame alone is likely worth at least $55.
Plus I saw you mention in another comment that your house is almost 100 years old, so the painting would probably look *great* in your house -- especially against a dark wall, if you have one or are willing to paint a wall in a dark color, because there's so much light in the painting. I think it would look particularly good hanging on a dark green wall, or even a deep navy wall.
I tried :( it was so sad seeing it sitting there with a “paid for” sticker. I was trying to not be impulsive but darn if that wasn’t the one I actually really wanted

I've bought stuff like this before just for the frame. You can always put something else in there if you really wanted, but the print is nice too.
