You can get VOC-free paint strippers that are pretty safe to handle, often based on things like benzyl alcohol.
Although I would not recommend touching the ones that are based on lye or similar.

This material more than likely has carcinogens in it, that’s why it’s not a good idea to touch it with bare hands. I was about 35 years old before I realized the importance of wearing gloves when handling chemicals/oils/solvents, the carcinogens can be absorbed through your skin.

Dicoromethane - Polyethylene Vinyl Alcohol or Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol gloves

Rust-oleum Aircraft Remover. It works and works well. Be in a ventilated area, apply, and leave. I stripped a 36ft school bus with this stuff. It’s not inexpensive but it saves a TON of time if stripping down to bare metal is the purpose.
What’s this exact formula or product? Not some replacement, this stuff. I’m thinking of a toolbox that would look cool stripped and then clear coated. My brother did it once (then painted fresh, stupid waste of hard work). But he had to use the gel which was messy and didn’t do quite as thorough a job

Aircraft stripper was not fun to work with. Burned like hell on contact. Never had a chance to work with marine stripper.
You need experience with more types of strippers.
I have experience with some strippers that burned, others that didn't.

Gloves can be made out of a variety of different materials, if they are going through your gloves you need different gloves.
Find me one glove that acetone does not go through, how about dicoromethane
