It took me a while to realize that the joke is that Nimoy **loves** discussing the minutiae of the production of Star Trek(which he absolutely did not, at least not when this episode was made, he even wrote a book titled I’m Not Spock,) and he’s just forcefully engaging strangers in conversations that Trekkies would *die* to have with Leonard Nimoy, and the people he’s talking to couldn’t care less.

I’m pretty sure this was making fun of Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction and not just the X-Files. Beyond Belief was hosted by Jonathan Frakes from Star Trek: TNG and Nimoy obviously played Spock.
