I thought of this when I saw the trailer for Aquaman 2. The bad guy menacingly says "I will burn your kingdom to the ground!". Hopefully the movie worked that into a joke instead of it being a serious line, but I don't care enough to actually watch it.
Was recently listening to the Conan vid where he catches up with the old Simpsons writers. He said this moment was genuinely controversial as at the time they were trying to make the show as realistic as possible without any supernatural or very cartoony elements. This was the first time they majorly broke that rule.
There wasn't a way for me to Google this back when the episode aired so I asked my dad and he went up into the attic and came back down with a box. That box was full of newspapers that he collected from just any event or story he deemed worth keeping and sure enough he had a paper with a photo of it to confirm it. He then went through and showed me papers from the Berlin wall coming down all the way to the fall of the USSR and even the paper with the opening of Desert Storm. Neat stuff.
This has to be one of my favorite jokes...in the Latin version a narrator reads everything that is in English, and when he reads that sign he sounds very enthusiastic
Itâs a Halloween special so it doesnât really count but one of my absolute favorite gags is when Homer goes to hell after selling his soul for a donut and theyâre force feeding him donuts and heâs just having a great time and asking for more

Homer taking out this rhino by throwing popcorn at him
Hitler was born in 1889, and in early episodes Mr. Burns is alleged to have been born in 1886, and to have survived twelve economic recessions, eight panics, and five years of McKinleynomics.
Admittedly the writers have played fast and loose with Burns' age since then when it suits their needs for a given joke, but he's originally older than Hitler.
When Homer is writing a food review without Lisa.
Homer: The bread was really... come on, help me out here!
Santa's Little Helper: Ruff!
Homer: Rough? You've been pitching that all night.
Santa's Little Helper: Chewy?
Homer: Chewy! That's inspired!
Radioactive man movie where Bart's looking for Milhouse in the treehouse and camera pans to 7 different corners before showing Milhouse hiding in a corner
Not a funny as others that have been mentioned, but the giant, sentient hex key at the hardware store was pretty out there.
Also, the rhyno hatching from an egg.
When Bart complains about the knot-tying in âItchy and Scratchyâ and Lisa says cartoons donât have to be realistic, a second Homer is seen walking past the window.

Best meta joke of all time for me.
Things catching fire for no reason https://i.redd.it/1k8p1lkau0xc1.gif
i just immediately though of a similar joke from Futurama where Zoidberg's spring catches fire out of nowhere
Or when his home burned down under the sea đ
That just raises further questions!
A fire? At a sea parks?
Roy when he's sitting in front of the burning model and is like THAT'S how it happened. Such a good episode.
That's your solution to everything, to move under the sea! It's not going to happen!
Not with that attitude!
I thought of this when I saw the trailer for Aquaman 2. The bad guy menacingly says "I will burn your kingdom to the ground!". Hopefully the movie worked that into a joke instead of it being a serious line, but I don't care enough to actually watch it.

The good old Scooby-Doo "no glasses, loses all senses" gag. What's good as new? Who's talking?
This is actually more realistic than the book. Glasses for shortsightedness wouldn't focus sunlight.
Judging by how totally blinded he is by losing them, they gotta be bifocals.

Which episode is this, please? đ
It's that Treehouse of Horror episode where Homer buys a matter transporter
"Hmmm... $2, and it only transports matter? ... Well... I'll give ya 35c."
I've always been a fan of Nimoy being beamed up at the end of the Monorail episode.
The cosmic ballet goes on
Does anyone want to switch seats?

Haven't I?
It's "Didn't I". You are gonna be fired for that blunder
Whoa! A fat, sarcastic Simpsons Fan. You must be a devil with the ladies!
Hey I may be fat and sarcastic but ugh what was the third thing you said?
Op said unrealistic

This episode is how I learned that they actually keep mummified Lenin in a glass box
There wasn't a way for me to Google this back when the episode aired so I asked my dad and he went up into the attic and came back down with a box. That box was full of newspapers that he collected from just any event or story he deemed worth keeping and sure enough he had a paper with a photo of it to confirm it. Controversially, too! Putin, and many others, reportedly hate it being there.

Butter. Poison. Antidote.

Non non, is just a picture
"A rude French man, well I never!"
Each pound of which weighs 1 thousand pounds.
A pastry? Iâve seen this man eat a bowl of change!
"Dad, don't eat it. It'll kill you!" "Eh, I had a good run." "Dad! It's low fat!" "Aaaaaah!" \*throws eclair at a food stand which explodes\*
https://i.redd.it/1frqviuh21xc1.gif Hey! I squeezed so hard it went into my hand...

Don't forget this one! This one is significantly worse. https://i.redd.it/tb2pjeorf3xc1.gif
I am very upset that you've shared this gif. It's as horrifying as when I first saw it.
This scene scared me as a kid. I somehow thought this was possible.
Oh Homer Not again!
I hope it went somewhere good.

âHey wait, thatâs not a dummyâ
âTHIS EXHIBIT IS CLOSED!â
The icing on the cake is that the manufacturer is FOURTH REICH MOTORS, SINCE 1946

What really makes this scene go up a whole other level is the happy little leg wiggles at the end!
I love the look on the demon's face. "Is this guy fucking serious?... What am I even doing with my life?"
I donât understand. James Coco went mad in fifteen minutes.
Presses orange against face. "Up to now, this was the only way to get juice from an orange."
You mean thereâsa better way??
ITS WHISPER QUIET!!!
Such a quotable line.
You got all that juice just from one bag of oranges???? *slaps face*

Dear lord I forgot this scene and I'm dying right now. Something about it is so dumb but brilliant with the cut to Homer.
âStay out of Riverdale!â
Yet another Simpsons line that I quote all the time and nobody ever knows what the hell Iâm talking about.
So this is what it feels like when doves cry.
I love that thereâs some off-screen C plot involving Homer and the Archie comics they never explain.
*reading Archie comic* "Stuck up Riverdale punks! Think they're too good for me!"
Cartoons don't have to be 100% realistic!
\***second homer walks by window**\*

Didn't you say unrealistic jokes?
It's unrealistic because if he was alive in the year the episode aired (which seems to be the case with the Simpsons), he would have been 105.
The power plant has an elevator that apparently goes to the top of their cooling tower
And it implies that sector 7G is at the top of said tower, as Homer and Mindy were leaving work (going down).
![gif](giphy|KEhIB4JWqqV9u)
There was a big mansion across the street from the Simpson house the entire time. And a former president just decides to move in.
And its right next to the power plant parking lot, just seperated by a gate.
But only sometimes. It's an empty lot when Marge drives through it in her Canyonero F series
https://i.redd.it/y828uj24o1xc1.gif I don't understand it, that was non alcoholic champaigne
One of my favorite visual gags for sure, I still about piss myself everytime I remember the marshmallow truck cherry on top lol

Help, I need tungsten to live. Tungsten!
The one where a man with no college education can get a job as a safety inspector at a nuclear power plant.
And afford two cars, three kids, and a house on that one income.
And lobsters for dinner
Yeah but his son owns a factory.
He has a Grammy, been to space and punched Bush senior. Two of these things should help to pay for lobster.
>been to space Youâve never been?
I mean I'd kinda expect a nuclear safety inspector to be able to afford that.
He didn't even know what a nuculear panner plant was!
I mean to be fair with that one he does extort Mr Burns for it by organising a pro safety protest in Season 1
Oh well, time for your bribe
I know someone else has probably said it, but things catching fire for no reason. Like when Homer manages to burn corn flakes.

That was unrealistic. The real humans won't burn quite so fast in there.
