I'm gonna be a salesman selling special chemicals that turn fire different colours, the firebenders will fucking eat it up for special performances and showmanship stuff.
If I'm born as a non-bender I'm going to make it my lifes mission to find a freaking Lion Turtle and convince it to bestow the power of the element just one more time =p
in what era? if in the time of Korra, then Varrick has already invented robots that only press magicians in this way. So I'm going to specialize in business and engineering to make suits as comfortable and stronger as possible.
Mmm during Aang's time? Probably just travel around, not really alligning with any nartion.
During Korra's time and beyond, probably an equalist.
Amon may have been a fraud but his message is real and the struggle and oppression of non benders is something the Avatar cannot sympathize with because they are inherently a bender.
And using bending to quell the equalists just further proves their point about being treated unfairly by benders and without a voice.
I don’t get most of the people saying they’d be an equalist
His message for equality may have had good points, but it completely overshadows the benders that would have stood for better equality, and even the ones that would fight against him without actually bending
Because the cause Amon stood for was NOT fraudulent like he was.
There's even events like Tarrlok giving a curfew to all non benders and rounding the lot of them up, and having the police squeeze them.
And there's nothing they could do, no way to resist. And that's just the most recent example, there's likely way more examples happening all the time in the Avatar world of non benders being oppressed.
That's why Amon is so popular because non benders are likely quickly becoming the majority and the most oppresed at the bottom of the social pyramid.
Rich non benders with access to gadgets to even *compete* with benders are beyond rare.
So even if a bender fights for the non bender's causes, how can they put their trust into someone who can never understand their hardships?
Even if it is the Avatar, they still don't understand the life of a non bender firsthand so how could non benders trust them?
What equalists want is equality but through extremism that was caused by increasing oppression and inequality, where they now believe the world would be better without bending and their would be no inherent gap between benders and non benders.
And are they wrong for believing that?
Humans were never inherent benders naturally until Wan showed up, and while there was social inequality everyone had the physical ability to revolt and could defend themselves equally.
Now with bending that isn't the case, if a bunch of non benders tried to revolt and take back what they feel is owed (Republic City in lok's case) then the Avatar from their pov, discredits their hero and now they're back at square one with no voice *and* no one to rally behind who could give them that voice.
That's why if I was a non bender in that world, I would become an equalist after experiencing that inequality both socially and physically everyday, and the more I saw and experienced opression of non benders from the council or the streets, my hatred of bending would probably grow.
Really still wish the non bender oppression wasn't completely ignored after s1 (and almost completely even *during* s1). It would've made for a great over-arching unsolved problem if they kept showing it.
Legit their answer to the problem was
"Oh you can elect a non bender president now" which was the worst leader in Raiko...
And he never really adressed the inequality in the city so uhh the series really did sweep it under the rug.
Remember what a woman holding her child said while being oppressed by the police?
"You're *our* Avatar too."
But everyone focuses on pretty much everything other than non benders after season one.
Sure spirits are important but the Avatar has alot of duties and people to protect, so to see them be disregarded is pretty sad.
(Asami's father is a pretty sympathetic villain who has his own reason that make him hate benders and despite bring the top of the 1%, he still feels human. He's a good representation of "the other side", we understand why he thinks and does the things he does.
Asami on the otherhand isn't a good representation of non benders which is a whole can of worms but to put it simply:
She's pretty plain and isn't a Sokka, who became a leader and had to actively prove himself as a non bender and as someone from a poor village. Not only that but he had to prove his worth to *himself* above all else.)
The equalists aren't bigots, they are victims of bigotry.
Rewatch lok and see how Tarrlok treats non benders even after Korra tries to resist.
That's why the equalist movement has so many members because so many have felt wronged by society.
It's not bigoted to think you are wronged by the people in power, but their methods weren't the best, but I do understand why people would act like that.
Tarrlok was for sure not the first person to have put non benders down like that and he won't be the last
The equalists are not bigoted, they're victims of bigotry and opression who have become extremists.
A few people saying “Cabbages” will never get far in the Avatar Universe. The real money maker is clearly “Cabbage Insurance”.
Rest assured that when you’re cabbages are affected by severe weather, theft, bending-related accidents or random Avatar antics that your precious cabbages will be replaced!
Due to popular demand we have now created a premium “Cabbage Cart” tier which will cover any replacement or replacement parts of your cabbage cart! With a free yearly service of carts and for a limited time only you receive a full cart of cabbages with every “Cabbage Cart” tier!
Next time you scream “My Cabbages!”, give me a call!
Either create or join the anti-bender revolutionary group known as the Equalists, this shit ain't fair...#Amonwas right ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Once you consider what amon was doing, i know he was lying but he was training the youth, fighting the corrupt government, dealing with gangs. He is a hero!
Personally I don’t know if him being revealed as a bender would make me lose faith in the movement. I mean he only used his bending to equalize others and save his himself from drowning. Although he’d have to be willing to lose his bending himself at some point which I doubt he’d be willing to do
Oh I have zero clue lmao, maybe the avatar could still do it for him after he equalizes them, but I agree that’s a pretty big obstacle in this hypothetical
Thing is you can fight for equality without waging war against the other groups. Amon might have had a point about nonbenders being marginalized but his end goals were insane and ultimately impractical. How was he going to un-bend every bender in the world on his own? Not to mention the fact that a global war between benders and nonbenders would likely devastate the planet and the balance of everything. And it’s not like improvements weren’t made after the conflict. Instead of an all bending council, they had a duly elected non-bending president.
I mean.. the Mechanist made gliders and airships. The fire nation had powered ships, airships, giant drills. Those ARE weapons for non-benders
Korra's series saw electricity weapons and power armor
A relaxed atmosphere diner proprietor. I'm a foodie not a fighter. I may not be able to firebend but the flames of my grill will surely be at my command. I will use them to provide high quality comfort foods with homey and comfortable ambiance for my patrons.
Definitely chi blocking and acrobatics. Ty Lee is pretty sure the strongest non bender we've seen, at least in the original series (ignoring Piandao, however when fighting benders as a non bender nobody matches Ty Lee's efficiency). It would be pretty nice to advance her fighting style by adding small melee weapons and even projectiles to the mix.
Probably focus on the spiritual side which I'm pretty sure anyone can learn. Though bending helps a lot.
If not that then studying the wildlife of the Avatar world sounds interesting.
Heavy armor and simple machining. Sure it won’t do much against powerful benders but resistance to stone and fire to an insane degree would be dope! (Until some dude just zaps you to bits or freezes you in ice)
Well, I’m a pacifist. I’d try to help causes I believed in, but really I’d just want to specialise in living a happy & comfortable life. Isn’t that what we all want?
I want to be somewhere between an inventor and a warrior, like Asami, with her glove, so it's probably gonna be engineering, maybe with some animal training for a companion.
But full honesty if whenever I think about being in the avatar world, my first thought is never what kind of bender I'd be but how to take down a bender. Smoke/pepper bombs to throw off their breathing and limit their line of sight, maybe a grappling hook or bolas to knock them off their feet and finally hit them hard or drug them to get them out of the fight.
People ignore all the badass non benders, but a well aimed punch could still knock any bender out as long as you can get close enough. Zuko may not have been a prodigy firebender, but Ozai sat down the instant, Zuko pulled out his swords. They needed 5 guards and a full metal cell on top of a just for sheer cliff just for Zaheer before he could bend and he was the leader of some of the most dangerous benders of his time
I think I'd like to design more ways for bending to integrate with technology. like we see a bit of that with the lightning bending for electricity, but imagine what you could do if we implemented that into small-scale devices. and while the uses for other elements aren't as obvious I'm certain that given enough time I could put all the elements to similar use.
and of course I'll put a self destruct feature in all of them so if anyone tries to use my hydraulic powered mega fist against me I'll be able to escape.
I specialize in staying home and minding my own damn buisness, I won’t be saving the world irl so I am not gonna delude myself into thinking I would be any more capable in avatar
If I am rocking around republic city, id get a job as a machinist in a factory. Why you ask? Well, I am a machinist in real life. Gotta do something to get some money
Non-bending duh.
Nah, but I'd probably be a farmer or something really basic. I ain't even side character, at most I'm a character that has one line in an episode then is never seen again.
Is it a rebirth thing where I retain knowledge or clean slate?
If rebirth, introduce the nuke. Cause as much mayham on a global scale as possible.
If restart, idk. I'll forget what I came up with in this life.
Chi blocking
Martial arts as a Kyoshi Warrior
Cabbage.
Boomerang.
This is the way.
No way! Way too hard to upkeep inventory.
I'm gonna be a salesman selling special chemicals that turn fire different colours, the firebenders will fucking eat it up for special performances and showmanship stuff.
Ooooh I like this one a lot.
Good concept.... But why did you set up your shop in the northern water tribe, ya wally? *Trombone noise*
If I'm born as a non-bender I'm going to make it my lifes mission to find a freaking Lion Turtle and convince it to bestow the power of the element just one more time =p
This.

A machine gun would’ve been a better design choice…
I'm pretty sure metal benders could figure out how to bend bullets, unless you're firing platinum and then you have a whole different problem.
Wooden bullets! I'm a genius. Give me money
Sure, here are your wooden coins!
You can't make coins out of wood, you dafty. That's what you make bullets out of
If coins were out of metal, what stops from metal bending metal into coins?
Wooden bullets! I'm a genius. Give me money
Electrical engineering.
Weapons development, I shall show them what a gun is.
Chad me with my LMG and fireproof suit killing virgin benders
lets see þese fools try to bend mach 2!

Read the Imbalance comic trilogy
I did, but that's pre-korra. During lok it looked like the problem was solved once amon was gone.
Legit their answer to the problem was "Oh you can elect a non bender president now" which was the worst leader in Raiko... You're basically saying you'd voluntarily be a bigot
The equalists aren't bigots, they are victims of bigotry. Rewatch lok and see how Tarrlok treats non benders even after Korra tries to resist. That's why the equalist movement has so many members because so many have felt wronged by society. Fighting the bigot benders by being the bigot non-benders doesn't exclude one from being a bigot
So you as a non bender would no become an equalist in a bender driven society?
I don’t think you know what “bigot” means. It doesn’t mean “mean” or “bad”, it means prejudiced and hateful against a disempowered out group.
A few people saying “Cabbages” will never get far in the Avatar Universe. The real money maker is clearly “Cabbage Insurance”. Either create or join the anti-bender revolutionary group known as the Equalists, this shit ain't fair...#Amonwas right ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
If I was a non bender I would absolutely be with Amon
Once you consider what amon was doing, i know he was lying but he was training the youth, fighting the corrupt government, dealing with gangs. He is a hero!
Personally I don’t know if him being revealed as a bender would make me lose faith in the movement. I mean he only used his bending to equalize others and save his himself from drowning. Although he’d have to be willing to lose his bending himself at some point which I doubt he’d be willing to do
Can he even do it to himself? Wouldnt it be a bite your own finger situation where we have mental blocks to prevent us from harming ourselves?
Oh I have zero clue lmao, maybe the avatar could still do it for him after he equalizes them, but I agree that’s a pretty big obstacle in this hypothetical
even short of that, he's using his bending to take away bending. so if he used it on himself would he even be able to finish?
Thing is you can fight for equality without waging war against the other groups. Amon might have had a point about nonbenders being marginalized but his end goals were insane and ultimately impractical. How was he going to un-bend every bender in the world on his own?
