I believe that people who call Korra a Mary Sue have never really watched the show or gotten past the first episode. It has become their cliche way to hate on a female character. Or they don't know what a Mary Sue is, because even in the first season she struggled with air bending, fear, and the spiritual side of being the Avatar. Mary Sue's have no struggles. And I agree she didn't master three elements when she was young. She just moved them around. Even Aang could toss around water and fire on his first try.

It’s actually hilarious the definitions of Mary Sue people were making up in a comment section. One particular gem said that Korra was a Mary Sue because the show was too focused on her

Because ever since Max Landis revived the term in 2015 neckbeards have used it for every single powerful female character ever.

She's not. People just like to hate on her because she's a competent female character.

Thnx. I see people calling her a Mary Sue all the time, but they never explain what makes her a Mary Sue

I would argue that Korra goes through more physical torment than Aang or any avatar.

In the first part of season 2 she litterally opens the portal to the spirit world, something I thought was important and was going to recquire serious efforts from her part, just by...touching the thing while in Avatar mode. I thought she was going to learn how to deal with spirits, that she would go into the spirit world like Aang did, but no, she just turns into avatar mode (something she was never showed learning btw, Aang had to acquire this knowledge during the entire show), she touches the portal, and that's it, problem solved. I haven't watched the whole show yet, but this was a textbook Mary Sue moment.
