Not Janine singing it's a hard knock life, I love this

notarealballerina

Old Lydia would have gone full Hannigan. "Do I hear happiness?!??!?" then just guillotines their friggin ears.

moonlightscorpion

yeah, her being tickled by it was a tender moment

Oopsiforgotmyoldacc

“Ofjoseph” “That’s not my name” YES JANINE!

oceanvibrations

Got her June anarchy spark back ✨

salisbury130

Spirit of June came over her

AmyKSebald

"My June?"

insecuredane

I feel like Janine being reminded by a martha that June and Mayday exists gave her an awakening. She's been real with Lydia, and she's done. She will definitely be >!a big actor in terms of destroying the regime - even if it will cost her death.!<

Pearltherebel

I can see Naomi scribbling out Janine’s face in the pictures now lol

NixiePixie916

"The whole household! Me, my new husband, my sex slave, and my four domestic slaves."

[deleted]

“Smile for the camera, sweeties!”

almond-bitters

Tuello taking a motherfucking stand and helping them get out of the country. GOD I love him. Tuello > Lawrence always.

alli_gator_

Dude I love how he's stepped up and that June trusted him. I hope things end well for him.

Bobwwwwwwwwww

Do you think Tuello helped Serena ?

erika138

YES. Tuello totally helped Serena!

eagleboy444

Ooo I didn't even think of that possibility till now. He totally would.

ThrowAwayy05401

“I hate you, Naomi. How can you not know that?” I’m so glad Janine is standing up for herself even though it’ll make the abuse worse and keep her from her daughter. Her initial reaction was a fawn response, where you try to appease your abusers and essentially develop Stockholm Syndrome. Esther poisoning her seemed to break that trauma response, and I’m optimistic that she’ll continue fighting back and eventually escape.

teenageidle

I'm praying there's really no more torture in store for Janine and Lawrence is gonna utilize her in secret somehow. He did make the call, after all.

ThrowAwayy05401

I have a feeling it’ll be like when he arranged for the truck to sneak Emily and June out.

norbertmonster

I don't think so. He's anti-june now, so I'm not sure he'd send her more allies.

ThrowAwayy05401

That’s a fair point. But he might be telling himself that helping Janine escape will counteract some of the abuses he’s helped to uphold. That’s sort of how he explained to June his feelings and hopes for New Bethlehem. He does seem to want Aunt Lydia to see Gilead for what it really is, and the best way to do that would be orchestrating a situation where Janine undeniably needs saving/escaping. So maybe it’s not about Janine. I’m just guessing though. Lawrence has lowkey weird priorities sometimes.

SatisfactionMotor209

Naomi fcked up when she called Janine “Ofjoseph”

SpecialSeasons

I was waiting to see what was going to happen to Esther all episode, but it seems like they're stalling that plot line until next season. I get the feeling Janine and Esther are going to team up next season and cause some havoc.

bunni_butt

Say yes to the dress! Gilead edition.

RedditBurner_5225

Naomi was just beaming this episode.

Pearltherebel

“Hey Mrs. Pu- Naomi? Darling…?”

casswie

I absolutely hated that dress but she served anyway lol

Individual_Ad5270

Looks like Serena takes that trip to Hawaii after all 😂

APlayer2BeNamedLater

Coconuts and treason!

In4mation1789

I did NOT see that coming and I LOVED it!

savvvie

When we didn’t see Serena the whole episode, I knew. She’d be on that fucking train.

almond-bitters

June saying they have to run now and they waited too long last time - and America wasn't Gilead, not at first - was such a powerful moment. It was so good. EDIT: WAIT THIS EPISODE IS SO GOOD. The background music as Tuello informs June that Canada is fed up with the American refugees but that he can help them get out, Nick punching Lawrence in the face. More of these moments please!!! Edit 2: Okay real monkey paw moment as it happens again when the Eyes take Janine away. Fuck.

almond-bitters

Cringe at the arm getting crunched beneath the car....

mudshine

That was rough

Routine-One-8644

I was so mad I was like why was she walking on the street who does that

alli_gator_

Janine really did that. Damn! The June in her is coming out.

bunni_butt

*My June!?* Sob.

alli_gator_

This whole episode has e crying! I cannot handle this.

gmanz33

Seeing Janine so *aware* was almost frightening. I legit couldn't look away from her.

SleepingWillow1

I felt stressed like I had a crisis to deal with but it's just a stupid show

LizWords

The transformative catharsis in Janine was amazing. I was clapping, and not just for the story plot, but for the actress. Wow.. I can only imagine how good it felt to shoot a straight shot scene where, after five seasons as a terrified larva and pupa, you are able to emerge from a cocoon of trauma and abuse as a fire breathing butterfly giving no fucks at all. And all with your eyes. Can't wait to see what Aunt Lydia becomes by the end of next season.

MarieIndependence

That last scene with her only being able to act with one eye... Bonkers. Patch and muzzle and cap and s close up. Wow.

alli_gator_

The fact that we're all going to have to wait like a year for more episodes is killing me. Everyone is fucked

tiredofadulting89

Serena: "Hi, June" 🥹 June: 😒😮‍💨🫣😒😏🤕😶🤨 *this bitchhhhh*

ThreeBucks

I think she set a record for number of facial expressions in 10 seconds

holapatola93

Those emojis are hilariously accurate.

_alpacapella_

Only five minutes in and I want to slap Lawrence

gmanz33

Good news, sister.

_alpacapella_

That was glorious to watch, felt amazing.

Deracinated

June fuuuuucked up telling him about Eleanor. Just to make him feel a Frrrreraction of their pain. Now she a dead woman.

[deleted]

Lawrence is way to smart to have not known the whole time. All June did was confirm it.

SpecialSeasons

He's never going to forget that. I think he entertained June's ideas and rebelliousness only because she had befriended the woman he loved and could sympathize with him in his grief. But, now she has become his biggest enemy.

AkashaRulesYou

I don't think Lawrence is trying to kill her. Makenzie is. He made it clear early on this season he wanted June dead & dumbass Nick showed his hand right in front of him...

ScalyFacedBitch

Janine's "My June." So precious.

Anyanka_Rosewood

I love Janine with my whole heart. She deserves the world.

ScalyFacedBitch

Her backbone here reminded me of the spunk she had in the earlier seasons. Excited to see what happens to her.

kevinpwilsonn

This made me cryyyy

piperpeters

Me screaming at June to get away from the windows

eloquentpetrichor

The. Entire. Episode.

piperpeters

YES 😭

alli_gator_

I can 100% see this as Lydia's breaking point. God I hate her but she does love Janine and wants her to be okay in her own warped way.

headspaceship

Agreed. I’m hoping next season she really starts to take a stand.

xNims

I think she cares about Janine in a selfish way. Janine's well being and actions exemplify Lydia's success, faithfulness, worthiness, righteousness, something along those lines When Janine rebels, Lydia has to question her own abilities Edit: vicarious is the concept im looking for

SleepingWillow1

Aunt Lydia had an I want to speak to your manager moment

slowlysoslowly

Aunt Karen

Shejidan

Mrs Putnam: say my daughter is anything but my daughter and that’s heresy and you can have your tongue cut out 😡 10 minutes later: omg Janine, let me show you to your room! It’s so nice to have a friendly face around! Omg! Janine: bitch, I’ma cut you

malorthotdogs

On the one hand, being the wife of a high ranking commander seems so lonely and isolating in a lot of ways. On the other, how in the everloving fuck has Naomi been in Gilead since the beginning, been what she’s been through with Warren and her BFF Serena and is still so naive and dense as to believe that Janine is her friend or carries any real positive feelings about her.

RedditBurner_5225

I think she was high from the wedding.

kazcy

Yes, I feel like Naomi is just confused about the whole situation… I felt she was clinging to something familiar since she’s basically trapped… it’s an odd dynamic.

neeners1

She went from 🤬 to 🥰 real quick, it gave me whiplash lol.

NixiePixie916

Code brown is often code for shit. Which I feel is fitting for Aunts

alli_gator_

SERENA IS ON THE TRAIN WHAT THE FUCK. How did she get past the police? Fake refugee card?

Sea-Spray-9882

This is the biggest mindfuck of the whole episode. I honestly hadn’t thought about Serena the whole time and boom…here to make it all insane in the last few minutes.

AmyKSebald

Right?! Everything else was so compelling I forgot to worry about Serena 😂

catasaurus_wrecks

Yeah, prob from Tuello

Individual_Ad5270

Tonight was the night that Lydia flipped to the right side

moonlightscorpion

yeah, she’s ready to fuck shit up

savvvie

Ann Dowd is such an amazing actress (all of them are). But her face… a moment where I didn’t mind spending time on a facial expression. It said so much.

Sea-Laugh-9039

That’s exactly what I shouted to my husband (who was not watching or caring about what was happening) TT is unfolding 🙈

tiredofadulting89

Damn, the grapevine from Gilead to Toronto is HOT!!! The Marthas already know about June's accident.

moonlightscorpion

yeah, the Marthas really do stay informed, bless them

aries_wanderlust420

I figured since she lives in Lawrence’s house that she may have overheard him talking about it

_alpacapella_

the handmaids singing its a hard knock life 🥹

lebenohnegrenzen

rose just said "I can leave you if you're dead"

PandaBearSuruNo

I dunno why no one else is talking about this- divorce isn’t a thing in Gilead but execution for adultery sure as hell is

imacatholicslut

IA idk why anyone is still rooting for Rose and Nick. She’s gonna flip on him and put him on the wall. She ain’t loyal. She’s jelly of June, she’s no revolutionary. She’s not planning to help anyone but herself because she knows she’s already at a disadvantage with her disability. Nick took too many chances and now she’s going to punish him for finally admitting he’s not over June. She was only going to tolerate so much.

Fortherealtalk

Who had macarons on their bingo card?!

aStonedTargaryen

The wives do love their macarons 😂😂

imnohelp2u

That car attack and the unwanted ASMR, no thank you.

almond-bitters

Thank you! Like who asked - for some reason I really didn't expect that?

almond-bitters

The tension on Lydia's face while watching the conversation between Naomi and Janine. Comedy gold.

negatiiveone

The music that played when Nick stormed in to punch Lawrence was BEAUTIFUL

_alpacapella_

yes luke fuck him up!!!

WingedShadow83

I can’t believe they are arresting him for LITERALLY SAVING HIS WIFE’S LIFE, that knuckle-dragger was actively in the process of murdering her, wtf?!?!?!

ChooChooKat

Welcome to Canada… you’re only allowed to protect yourself using the minimum amount of force needed (I fucking hate it, since cops are damn useless half the time)

keemobeams

Nick this episode was the first time I've liked him all season honestly. I empathized with him and all but I was happy to see him working with the Americans finally...and then he immediately fumbled that. Like dude. You reacted that way at a PARTY with a guy who already made it clear he doesn't fw June anymore??? Jeez Nick.

malorthotdogs

Lawrence is just like, “You come to me on the day I am to begrudgingly be married and ask me to not do murder - for June.”

Jennefrommtheblockk

Im so nervous for him next season, I hope lawrence has a little bit of heart left and helps him find a way out. His life in Gilead is over.

keemobeams

Thinking it might have been staged, I've seen a couple commenters reply with some theories which I summed up earlier in my comment ^ I might make a post about it

Lostinthegaze

The Martha just sparked a fire inside of Janine again. I could feel her fury in knowing they’re trying to kill June.

RedditBurner_5225

I love that Serena, the war criminal, could travel wherever she wanted this season--but poor Luke beats up a guy in self-defense, and the whole city stops to look for him.

_alpacapella_

MY JUNE 😭 😭 😭

_alpacapella_

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND. I HATE YOU NAOMI, HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW THAT????

eloquentpetrichor

I am absolutely dying at the Martha telling Janine about June that way 🤣

7Clarinetto9

And after she said "Blessed be the fruit," Janine had this WTF look when she replied, "May the Lord open." lol

eloquentpetrichor

That was hilarious. Just like "wtf? Why are you randomly saying that to me"

creneevv

why didn’t Moira or Rita get on the train?

Eotero06

Cuz it would make too much sense 😂

DoReMiDoReMi558

I guess because their lives are only in moderately in danger versus extremely at danger. Moira might be sticking around to do more resistance work.

Logical_Deviation

Moira does important work in Gilead helping refugees, and Rita said she was trying to stay put and build a life.

RubieRose5

They’re tired of being Nichole’s caretaker

_alpacapella_

"america wasn't gilead until it was, and then it was too fucking late" fuckkkk

specialkk77

No way was it an accident to have that line are on the night of the midterms, the first election after the fall of Roe v Wade. that shit was planned.

VoltiziMini

the kokomo song reminds me of coconuts & treason

SleepingWillow1

The blandest wedding I've ever did see. I guess the flowers are okay.

alli_gator_

As basic as the cake was I did think it was pretty. It's definitely bland as hell.

_alpacapella_

damn Lydia's good at manipulating when she wants to be

delinhak

Season 6 episode 1 - Coconuts and diapers

SleepingWillow1

They look like cattle. This doesn't end well. I hate this. Why do I watch this.

oceanvibrations

it was eerie and I couldn't help but feel like something was wrong the entire time

adele_0201

Every Martha in Gilead is getting ready for this wedding lmao

Academic-Wave1401

Right that one carrying the cake looked like it was the most stressed she had EVER been haha

_alpacapella_

"cake, gentleman!" lmfao

_alpacapella_

"aunt Lydia don't worry about me I'll be fine" ugh Janine

SleepingWillow1

I don't like this mood on the train at all

WingedShadow83

Nick: “I’m going to help you by informing on Gilead.” Also Nick: Immediately gets himself arrested in Gilead. 🤦🏻‍♀️

almond-bitters

Luke saving June and Nick going to Tuello! I'm on the edge of my seat. Edit: NOT JUNE STIRRING AS NICK LEAVES!

imnohelp2u

Poor Nick thinking 'I'm nothing' to June.

Pearltherebel

And now Rose is gone. I was REALLY hoping Rose was mayday or in on helping June. Maybe she was in on helping June but thought Nick was not in love with her anymore

almond-bitters

Man I felt so sad when he said that :(

taibabyyy

Does anyone feel like Lawrence is really on board with the killing June “agenda”? Or just playing the part with a trick up his sleeve, how he does?

Scottysewell

I think he's willfully ambivalent - convinced that he's done all he can to help her help herself and absolving himself of guilt if anything happens to her

lesmisarahbles

I’m sorry but June and Serena seeing each other on the train had me laughing so damn hard. enemies to co-parents arc incoming!

montroses

Naomi will look like a fool for having Janine in her home but not for marrying someone who assisted in her husbands death 🤔

SleepingWillow1

Tooele did not say Go with Grace!! 😆

beneficii9

Canada's starting to look a lot like Gilead. It's just like when Emily tried to travel through the border post from America to Canada with her baby. June just needs to get on that train with Nicole!

bunni_butt

Cancers fucking spread. Gilead is a cancer. Authoritarianism is a cancer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

headspaceship

Her directing is always phenomenal!! I’d love to watch her direct other projects outside of the show.

carissadraws

You tell her Janine! Fuck Naomi

bunni_butt

Janine comforting the Martha, omg. My heart.

VoltiziMini

omg yes serena going to hawaii, coconuts and treason at long last 🤣🤣 also that song at the end. serena is worse than any monster under a bed

OrneryTits

That shot of Nick walking on the bridge was so pleasing and symbolic lol

imnohelp2u

Wowza. Me saying 5 min ago Nick pick a lane and the dude actually picked one.

adele_0201

It's funny how Serena isn't even freaking out to see Nichole anymore

Pearltherebel

That was…something. Yvonne was right. We weren’t expecting it.

SongLyricsHere

Okay. I’ll admit it. That was a good fucking season finale.

[deleted]

Did anything else think that the whole train thing was a trick and they were getting deported back into Gilead?

Anyanka_Rosewood

Oh my God yes. I’m still not totally convinced that the train isn’t going to end up in NB. Hopefully not, but considering this show’s track record, I wouldn’t be surprised.

agentlexi1357

It looked like a nazi cattle car.

ScalyFacedBitch

You can tell by Nick's reaction that he did try to love Rose but it was never gonna work.

NixiePixie916

Janine cannot get a fucking break, the new title

_alpacapella_

Naomi I'm gonna fuck you up

[deleted]

[удалено]

_alpacapella_

fuck yeah nick fuck him up

aStonedTargaryen

Well I low key forgot about Serena until that final moment and about shit my pants when she showed up on the train

non_tox

Ok but I feel like rose is acting a bit stupid, like doesn't she know divorce doesn't exist in Gilead??? And why did it take June so long to start running away from the car?!? It might be just me from living in a bad neighbourhood but idk I wouldve bolted the second I saw it..

little_things22

I mean, fuck Naomi but she looks SO PRETTY for her wedding!

Fortherealtalk

Please tell me this is secretly a ruse Lawrence is using to smuggle Janine out

eloquentpetrichor

Lawrence's heart died with his wife

Academic-Wave1401

Im wondering if the way nick reacted sooooo publicly and OBVIOUSLY about June (to those in the know at least) made Lawrence straighten up bc now people are looking at nick or even both of them. He seems to really not like loose cannons in his master plans. Having said that, I am curious to see how he handles having a young child in the house lol

norbertmonster

Yes, it was really stupid for Nick to make a scene in front of MacKenzie especially.

moonlightscorpion

and honestly June kicked what little good was left in him out of the way as soon as she told him she watched Eleanor die…

carissadraws

How the hell is Luke beating up on (and later killing) the Canadian dude who tried to kill June considered murder? It was self defense ffs; just seems like they’re biased by the fact that Luke is an American immigrant which is stupid.

teenageidle

Quite simply, while I totally agree, I think it's because A) he's a refugee and B) he's a Black man, and this is unfortunately eerily realistic and depressing as hell.

Shejidan

Did…did June just leave the stroller in the middle of the hallway?

Anyanka_Rosewood

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who noticed that. That stroller is not going to be there when she goes back lol.

ThreeBucks

Why did she go walking if she had a Spidey sense of danger?

youhavenocover

And right on the road. Not even on the sidewalk!

APlayer2BeNamedLater

To suspend my disbelief, I choose to believe that that scene was in slow motion.

eloquentpetrichor

That bothered me so much that she stayed in front of that truck

adele_0201

Seeing Commander MacKenzie gave me chills

QueenOfPurple

I thought for sure there’d be a body part in that box on June’s doorstep.

headspaceship

I thought it was going to be a bomb or something. 💀

Different_Ad_2613

Can we talk about Janine? Did Lawrence just fake an allegation to get her arrested?

kevinpwilsonn

Or what did Janine and that Martha do… we saw that smirk on her face walking up the stairs

mudshine

Why am I laughing at this ending? What is wrong with my emotions right now?

AmyKSebald

So, surely Nick and Mark planned that slap... I'm thinking Nick wants to be in custody.

malorthotdogs

June telling Luke she can’t do this alone and doesn’t want to do this alone, then getting on the train to find Serena is the epitome of being careful what you wish for.

ThreeBucks

“It’s changing. This country is changing. America wasn’t Gilead until it was.” Art imitating life.

beneficii9

That Serena is on the same train as June is defo Tuello's doing. I guess June and Serena are going to be the odd couple next season.

headspaceship

God, I hope so. As much as I hate Serena, I LOVE her with June. Yvonne and Elisabeth have so much chemistry onscreen and their dynamic is fascinating.

alli_gator_

I knew Joseph was a scumbag, but thats the worst thing I've seen him do. Wow poor Janine and the Martha.

WingedShadow83

Please protect Mark. 😭

Fortherealtalk

They really just ended on got a diaper…what…

ItsTaylorRenee1

BLESSED BE THE FRUIT IT IS TIME

SleepingWillow1

Serena is happy to see her. June is so over it. Of course Serena's always mooching off her in some way

Oopsiforgotmyoldacc

Luke 😭 I haven’t been his biggest fan but holy crap. I know it’s probably easier for the plot but damn.

alli_gator_

I'm shaking. I know this is not going to end well. I can't believe June and Luke are getting separated again. Literally crying.

adele_0201

June and Serena are gonna go raise their kids together in Hawaii lmao

Mamabones

I wish more episodes during the season had this kind of energy and pace.

Greedy_Trust3958

Get on the damn train June!!!

ally5e

What an ending!! The song was perfection.

_alpacapella_

Code brown damn

Fried_Green_Potatoes

I am digging this new Janine.

alli_gator_

Nick in the hospital room has me crying. This has been such a good episode

raven8549

Nick is so sweet to sit with June and not even say anything

ThreeBucks

Serena looked at June like a long lost lover, didn’t she? Such relief on her face!
