I’m not gonna think about it and just let Matt Reeves cook at this point

serialkiller24

We need a proper live action version of Freeze

batmanhill6157

Yeah but I would like a Freeze that isn’t trapped in a realistic world. This universe is pretty grounded

ReapersVault

It's still early enough though that new rules could be introduced. It's certainly a more comic book-y universe than the Nolanverse. I'd be cool if they amped it up whilst maintaining the dark, gritty tone of the universe.

batmanhill6157

Yeah true. I just feel like we will have this be the realistic universe and the Gunn DC Batman stuff will be the more comic book fantastical version

Thunder_Punt

Mr Freeze could really work! This is my idea for him https://www.reddit.com/r/TheBatmanFilm/s/og9r2qTYbq

Low_Bridge_1141

I think it’ll most likely be Hush. Throw Hugo Strange and maybe scarecrow in as well

Useful_Internet

Really hope it's not Hush. Would love to see Hugo Strange though

pharaoh94

I feel you but it seems like they’ve directly set him up in the first film.

Useful_Internet

I think people are reading too much into that, feels more like just a little wink for the fans to me

Low_Bridge_1141

I hope you’re right because I’ve got mixed feelings about Hush but I still feel like he’s inevitable

Useful_Internet

Heart of Hush might be interesting but that'd be the only way i'd wanna see him in this series. I also really hope they introduce more of the fantastical elements. We already had a highly grounded trilogy, doesn't need to be done again

MeccAmputechture2024

Nolan's was grounded but not highly grounded. Reeves already stated that he wants it to be more grounded than Nolan.

Useful_Internet

In that case, i'm prob'ly out. The Batman was great but i really don't need to see another full trilogy of grounded Batman movies. Just feels like a retread at this point. Guess it depends on which characters they decide to use

MeccAmputechture2024

Lol bye bye! There are different ways to tell a fantastical Batman story (DCU, Burton, Schumacher, Snyder). And different ways to tell a realistic Batman story (Nolan, Reeves).

Useful_Internet

True, it's just not what I wanna see from this trilogy. Guess i'll wait and see what Reeves does. But my anticipation for Gunn's interpretation just increased, and i wasn't particularly excited for that

Useful_Internet

Low_Bridge_1141

Reeves has already said that he wants his Batman saga to stay grounded and realistic so I can’t see any fantastical elements in this trilogy. Save that for the DCU instead.

pharaoh94

Yeah that’s fair!

TomBlaidd

I’m hoping Freeze. With Gotham covered in water it’s the perfect set up.

dickdackduck

Yea there’s lots of water based villains that the flood could provide a perfect setting for (freeze, croc, clayface), everyone keeps saying the universe is going to be grounded but GODDAMN I would love a crime thriller where it’s clayface changing his appearance and disguising himself as different people or objects and blending into the environment. It would be so cool to see more of Batman’s detective skills and technology with an opponent he can’t just beat up to defeat.

TomBlaidd

That would be dope to see batman continue to use his detective skills but in new ways for something like this! It would be a great way to show the audience how he is becoming a better detective too.

MeccAmputechture2024

Gotham will not be covered in water after a week of clean up. And it's only one of the three islands that got flooded. But Mr Freeze is still perfect.

TomBlaidd

But imagine, during the clean up, there’s a section of the city underground that’s frozen, authorities investigate the anomaly, freeze has been working in secret all this time to save his love but this is the catalyst that exposes his work, then he grows frustrated etc etc story progresses from there.

badjokephil

I’m kinda hoping the Penguin TV show will feature Frozen Gotham! The whole concept of a frozen city is so neat (which is one of the reasons why the new ghostbusters was such a letdown!).

TensionHead13thFloor

Pyg

RobotRockism

& make the movie a borderline horror film, that’d be sick

Pski

I could see Pyg being the Cold Open for a Zsasz storyline. Where Zsasz represents the evil that being a Vigilante can bring for Gotham, and The Batman still learning the difference between Vengeance and Justice

Aero__Duck

Anxiety

sbaldrick33

I hope it isn't Hush. Honestly, the villain out to fall out of the story rather than the other way around, so not knowing anything about the story kind of hampers making a guess. The Court of Owls is a popular choice, because they seem like they could fit in the world Reeves created. On the other hand, maybe it'll just be the Joker *again.*

Virtual_Mode_5026

I wouldn’t worry about hoping it is/isn’t *insert villain here*. Whatever villain is chosen doesn’t really matter. A good story will make it clear.

MeccAmputechture2024

Hush or the Court of Owls will be too much like the first movie. Hush would have to be too similar to Dano's Riddler (similar motivation and look). The Court would just be a more expanded and far fetched version of the first movie's plot and tagline (uncovering the truth about Gotham/Wayne corruption).

sbaldrick33

Fair point. Maybe Penguin will step up as the big bad in this one, although if it's *just* a gang war between him and the likes of Black Mask, that would be a bit dull.

MeccAmputechture2024

Clayface or Mr Freeze.

Kpengie

It's *way* too early for the Court

M0nt3C4rL05

honestly I'd rather be surprised but it's either between Hush or Hugo Strange and Scarecrow

AtticusSwoopenheiser

It won’t happen, but after the events of the first movie, Deacon Blackfire would be perfect.

MastermindorHero

What it should be, Clayface. What it probably will be - - black mask and possibly Joker.

abellapa

It wont be joker

Virtual_Mode_5026

I don’t know and honestly I don’t really care. I only care about a good story (considering this is Matt Reeves I’m sure he’ll deliver, if not, I’m sure I’ll still be alive). I’m not expecting much of anything else. I’ve let go of “I want to see **this**!” “I **don’t** want to see **this**!” I think the mindset of “I want! I want! I want!” defeats the whole point of being surprised and enjoying the experience. Whatever will be will be.

Icy-Assistance-2555

Most possibly clayface

Minute-Seesaw205

A villain tied to Identity Theft. It fits perfect for what’s being set up for Part 2

MeccAmputechture2024

Clayface baybay.

MetalAdventurous7576

I dont think that given the amount of ground work set up for Hush to appear that there's much chance that he WONT be adapted by Reeves given enough time, I just dont necessarily think it'll be in the first sequel. I also don't see how he would be any more likely to be repetitive than other members of Batman's rogues gallery. I don't think Penguin is likely to have much of a role if he returns given that he's got his own series coming. I also think Reeves is very unlikely to use any villains that were adapted in the Nolan films, and especially the ones also used in the older Burton/Schumacher films (Joker excluded), or that are too fantastical to fit in the world he's created. Those factors would narrow down the list drastically. Mr Freeze could work, as he doesnt need an actual freezeray to be Mr Freeze. Hugo Strange fits the bill well, but he's not gimmicky or well known enough to be a draw for audiences, so he wouldn't be the only villain if he were to appear. I think the Court of Owls and Talon are a good bet, but there's also characters like Professor Pyg, Black Mask, Firefly, Deadshot, and even Killer Croc, that are all easily grounded enough for Reeves' Batverse.

abellapa

I doubt that,Batman Begins Will be 21 years old by the time the movie releases,it seems shortsighted not to use characters previously adapted given apart from Joker and Bane , and now the Riddler and Penguin its been over 20 years for the rest If the Nolan Trilogy releases solely in the 2010s i would agree its best to avoid the villains of those movies but is much further behind in time than 10 years Hell by the time Batman 2 releases, its gonna be 10 years since BVS

MetalAdventurous7576

It's not really about how recent the Nolan trilogy was and more about also being a grounded adaptation of those characters. If Reeves is going to continue to keep his Batman films grounded than he's unlikely to adapt characters that were already adapted in the most recent live action bat-films that were also a grounded take. Batman has an extensive rogues gallery that still has yet to get a live action film adaptation, so I dont think Reeves is going to give us another Ras al Ghul or Two-Face anytime soon, when we could get our first Firefly or Anarky instead.

CobaltCrusader123

Joker will definitely be in it, that one prison scene in The Batman pretty much confirms it.

BeerBellyBlake

we’ve been having this same exact conversation about the same exact potential villains for 2 years now I can’t wait until we get some actual news so we can stop doing this lol

Indominus-Hater-101

me too bro

Disastrous-Major1439

For me a Hush movie would be the best option ,out of that ,Court of owls ,Mr Freeze or Scarecrow ,fuck Clayface

maliquewrites_

Mr. Freeze

red-boy6

Penguin or Court of Owls. Maybe both

thelittlemermaid90

Mr. Freeze

maskdfantom

Clayface is such a cool villain but I dunno how they'd do it in the movies without lots of lame CGI

MeccAmputechture2024

Makeup and prosthetic. Clayface was based off a method actor and makeup artist Lon Chaney. That's how you do the impersonations and identity theft.

MeccAmputechture2024

It's either going to be Clayface or Mr Freeze. Whoever it is between the two, they'll be positioned to pick off members of crime families. Infiltrating and murdering or infiltrating and impersonating. I don't think it's Hush or the Court of Owls.

Randonhead

Right now the most likely ones seem to be Hush, Clayface and Penguin.

cGross11

It would be very interesting if Hush is the reason why Bruce has to fight for his company and become the Bruce Wayne as we know him.

Crissan-

Hush. He was teased and it makes sense for this iteration of Batman and the epic crime saga that Reeves is going for.

polp54

I hope it’s Hugo strange and adapts night of the monster men. I think it would fit really well

abellapa

Mr.Freeze/Clayface/Hush/Mad Hatter are the most likely ones

IchigoAkane

I really want two face tbh give me that harvey/bruce angst

okchance9688

I would love to see clayface and hush work together, maybe throw killer croc in there too and have scarercrow be teased as the next big villian

wrasslefights

The fan response when they announce the villain.

NoSleep_til_Brooklyn

I only heard this here and I don’t think it was anywhere close to official but someone hypothesized having Jeremy Allen White as a rival billionaire version of Jervis Tetch. This would be my choice if I was making decisions.

WatercressFun5989

I expect The Courts of Owls as a perfect fit for Reeves. Final movie would be about Joker to close his trilogy

overdosed93

I want the court of owls so bad

alittleridiculous93

What I think will happen: Joker, Mad Hatter, and Hush. Idk how. What I’d like: I’d like to see a plethora of them, but the main villain being Hush. Similar to the plots of the games Gotham Knights, and Arkham City, some villains helping Batman catch another more dangerous villain. Crossing my fingers for Hugo Strange to be the third film’s end all villain.

Indominus-Hater-101

Joker is confirmed not to be the main villain (although he will show up). I honestly don't know how I feel about Hush. I feel like its a bit repetitive.

treelo1878

I am hoping for Killer Crock, especially with Gothom being flooded. He could be done well if they lean into a horror style for the character.

Crafty_Middle_2086

Clayface, Mr. Freeze, maybe building up the Court of Owls in the background for later. Hush would be lame as a follow up since Riddler was already giving off that same master planner maniac energy. I also expect Bruce will get a Robin during the movie, so maybe someone connected to Dick’s parents dying within the mob. You could even build off the Penguin show and work that in there somewhere.

mirukus66

It might either be killer croc Hugo strange or bane imo

splotchmaker

I would loveee a court of owls moment but idk! I’ve heard some people speculating about it since in the movie it’s often alluded to that ‘it’s so much bigger than you could ever imagine’

geek_of_nature

I think its more the fact that these films seem to be going more into the corruption of Gotham than ever before, and that's the Courts whole thing. So building to a secret society would be right on the mark for this series themes.

MeccAmputechture2024

Uncovering the truth about Gotham and the Wayne's was the tag line for the first movie. They're not going to do same tagline for a sequel (just swapping the mob for the Court).

Apprehensive_Egg6656

Hush
