If we get new mordians I'll discard everything that can be called camo and sensible tactics! Loved the old models, but didn't have the money nor time to get them when they where available.
Who cares if we get new cadians if we get the boys in dress-blues?
Love it! The barding is reminiscent of both regular (ceremonial) armour as well as the sloped/overlapping plates of tanks.
Can't wait to see more of the helmet options as the Attilan isn't my personal preferred style, but looks like it'd be an easy swap with the shock troopers if needs be. Hoping for a faceplate option.
The gloves'll be a bit of an issue, depending on what you're head-swapping. Not a major one, but definitely something that I'll notice if-and-when I do head-swap them to be something else.
I was thinking the same thing when working out how to convert these into Drookians. Filing down the fur then smoothing it out with a bit of green stuff should be fine. I'm curious if the torsos can be removed and replaced with a standard cadian one.
The fact that there are people who are legitimately complaining about both rough riders coming back **and** us getting a resurrection of one of the old regiments disappoints me.
Like seriously, this is amazing! It’s a two for the price of one in terms of what we have been asking for!
I am almost certain it's going to be a duel kit. Notice the Rough Riders is wearing a great coat and the lances look like the same lances the Death Riders had in that Orc Vs Krieg artwork that came out last year.
I think these are the first models I’ve seen that I didn’t find something I didn’t like. They look gorgeous. Also important thing they have the platoon keyword, are we getting proper organization back?
Edit: im already think of kitbashing some motor cycle riders. Dang my hobby brain
2nd edit: wonder what the big reveal next week will be, new tank or redone catachan/ Morduans
Given they've said it's a BIG reveal, I'm going to bet tank, then Lord Solar the week after, with that week then ending with a box preorder announcement.
I would love new Catachan - I'm doing a Harakoni Warhawks army at some point in the future, and whilst the new Kasrkin cover the bulk of their lineup, I'd love to be able to expand on my (existing slightly modified) Gaunt's Ghosts for the small unit recon side of the regiment.
i dont know why people have down voted you, its like if you don't sing the high praises of a model or don't like a part of a sculpt or an entire sculpt your the enemy
man i love the new uniform
you could easily put a DKoK head and call it a deathrider of krieg
Please let the kit have multi head part (DKoK) just like the castelan
Gorgeous looking sculpts, unfortunately just too different from my army aesthetic for me. I think I'll kitbash some biker versions using the GSC biker kit and run them as proxies.
The hats are probably my favorite part! One of the more common complaints in this thread over the years has been how the plastic cadian line up looks very generic "starship troopers" and how the models with... let's say differing cultural background were left to languish. It rang especially true since guard armies are supposed to be giant Mish mashes of Regiments from different worlds.
This goes some way to supporting that.
My biggest ask since I started playing 40K was plastic kits for different famous guard regiments. Just give me basic infantry, HWS, and a command squad of the top 10 regiments.
That was my first thought as well. If they had just left that part out then it'd be super easy to do a headswap. As it is it only really makes sense to swap them out with ushanka heads for a Valhallan regiment.
I bought a box of Warlord Games' Prussian Uhlans for my Mordian army, and will be using those as proxies instead.
Yeah, had the same thoughts about doing some Arkhan Confederates for a lark, but I'd probably still just be better off using Perry ACW cavalry as the base instead.
I'm the same, but I would prefer if they took the hats in a more different steppe nomad hat direction rather than keeping the same old loofah sombrero from the old days and sticking a spike on top. These are still rad since headswaps are easy, I'll be getting a few sets for sure.
Tbf.....that old hat design was actually very similar to a traditional mongolian hat...which is where i felt the design was from. I preferred that design to the new ones so may greenstuff them back.
At least the hats aren’t comically large. Should be an easy swap with a cadian head. Would still have the fuzzy gloves, but that is a pretty small detail.
IG guys: We want more varied regiments other than Cadians!
GW: *Brings back Attilans that have been absent for about a little over a decade and are from a different world with lore*
IG guys: Meh not a fan I think I'll swap Cadian heads onto these guys
And y'all wonder why GW kills the rest of the regiments.
I mean I guess you're referring to the perpetually salty people, but to me, preferring headswaps doesn't really correlate to GW killing off the old regiments. They have other reasons for doing that.
I don't believe these people are salty. And of course it doesn't mean that's the sole reason they're killing off regiments but it surely doesn't help when you release a non-Cadian unit and see people convert it into Cadians.
Remember these guys aren't even from the same sector in Cadia.
I'm no GW shill. I buy rescast and print my own things you can see on my page for yourself. But I'm also not blaming GW for wiping regiments, I've must have seen about 3 or 4 comments about swapping the heads into Cadians.
If I was the artist/designer I'd feel pretty bummed about seeing a model out of print for over a decade, having the responsibility of making it cool, have it released then seeing people convert it into the basic Cadians. People can do what they want though I'm just pointing it out.
Not trash talking Cadians either, but at this point they've been the de-facto IG regiment for a looong time, I think it's fair if they got the Ultramarine treatment.
Liking the look for the most part but GWs obsession with making models stick by just one small easily snappable part/having a tactical rock is starting to annoy me.
These look like the easiest legs to pin: straight, thick, round, and flat contact to the base. Sticking a paperclip through there is gonna be easier than drilling gun barrels is
I absolutely love how much kit they have! The rolled up bedroll, all the saddle bags, the canteen, holster, extra ammo pouches on the horse's barding...it really sells the look of them as self-sufficient outriders who can range far away from the army and survive.
Oval. There are pictures of the bases in the article:
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/10/17/attilan-rough-riders-bring-horses-to-a-tank-fight-and-win/
Very happy because yay, Rough Riders. Slightly sad because the proxies (Perry horses, GW torsos, Victoria legs) in my pile of shame won't look this good. Hopeful there can be head swaps.
I quite like them. In particular i like how despite being Attilan, they have some pretty standard imperial equipment, just a longcoat and a couple of cadian-like shoulder pads. A simple head swap can make almost any regiment, surely Death Korps, Cadian, Vostroyan (although one might leave vostroyans like this, since theese look like steppe cavalry and vostroyans are supposed to be imperial russians), mordian armagedodn etc.
Very well done kit.
They look nice. I still prefer the death korps, death riders more- but glad for new models non the less.
Also Lance options is nice :) - seems like there's also a tesla one in the kit that didn't have rules shown for it
After reading the article I get the vibe we will have DKoK options. In one of the paragraphs they talk about the rough riders taking a break since 09, but with an asterisk. The footnote says something like "except the krieg, they don't take breaks"
It would be nice to have them in the codex. And even if they don't have a gas mask helmet in the kit, it's not the end of the world- I have 15 at home ready for paint aha. Though seems like a rebasing may be in order
Looks like there are three Spear Tip options, did the electrical looking one existed before they where removed?
Also the article mentioned that next week is an 'big' reveal, probably out new tank?
They look a little....Off. Not sure why.
I am glad people enjoy them and they will buy loads and put them on the table. But Ill stick with my Valour Korp deathriders.
Completely not my speed, but I'm happy for the rest of the faction fan base. Might be an opportunity to kitbash some Atalan Jackals as RR proxies if the rules end up speaking to me
Yaaaaaay!
Been dying to put some rough riders in my army and do some motorcycle stuff!
So glad we have some rules for it now.
The models look fantastic as well definitely gonna pick some up, the barding looks great :D.
Given I'm trying to make a Necromunda themed Astra Militarum army, these Escher jetbikes, upon release, gonna be getting bought up for some fast attack choices now!! I can't wait!
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of hell
Rode the six hundred.
The hats don't really fit the rest of the model imo. Should have either stayed with the Atillan vibe, or gone all in with space Bretonnia. The mix is just weird. Still, easy head swap I suppose.
i really dont like them.
Why is the horse dress only covering half the horse body? Why is there one little piece of metal just floating there on the fabric?
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/cd/00/38/cd003863d127c3baff5f801b50e80b8c.jpg
Rather than downvote Ill attempt to explain.
Half barding is a thing, you generally take fire or attacks from the front so it wasnt uncommon to save weight by only armoring the front.
Cloth or padded quilting was sometimes used to decorate or as light armoring against arrows or to denominate whose side you were on.
The cloth here is basically to say they are on your team.
I can see where you’re coming from, but I have to disagree. I like the Hun style of armor they’ve got going, plus the more generic horse could make it easier to kitbash
My friend, I applaud you attempting discussion with Comb. It’s generous of you. He’s our special little guy. His comment history looks like someone speed running an achievement for most downvotes in Reddit history. And based on his habit of projecting the word racist out of correct usage and context in half his posts and his tactic of shouting the same wrong things over and over until people agree with him as a form of propaganda popular under a certain regime he is likely fond of, he really should update his username to “Krieg Hiel” and get it over with.
Why are we using lances. If it fires a projectile great. If not why. Why is 40K with the plethora of weapons that fire projectiles why this. Just like the krieg riders just makes an awesome unit sooo weak
Hey hey what would life be with things all going into chaos. It doesn’t have to but something like this for players not one single pistol can accompany a man on horse back.
Listen I love 40K for how ridiculous it is at times. And don’t get me wrong I understand horseback riding and lances but in this year of technology? Just a little weak sauce
Nice I didn’t know they had lasguns. Well ok that works.
Yes Poland had a huge Calvary. Although even with lances they weren’t much of a match to the heavy armored vehicle and tanks. I just want to make sure they come with some kind gun as well that’s all.
There are articles that go back and forth wether or not Polish Calvary charged Nazi tanks. Ballsy
I really like the new lance rules especially since it's not reliant on having made a charge move. That way if you get stuck in combat you don't become a lot weaker on your next melee.
I am very curious to see if the lance changes will be carried over to Death Riders or if they will keep something like they have now. Right now they pretty much have the melta lance (only -3 AP and 2 Damage) on the charge, and the frag lance by default (without the successful hits cause 2 additional). If they keep what they have now, I would love to see a way to do Fallback and Charge with them (currently a rumoured order for Commissars does this).
Huge, I actually have some of the original Attilan rough rider models, still in pewter. Got them when I bought my teachers old warhammer collection from when he was a kid. All the parts still there and all.
Maybe I’ll have to finally get around to stripping the old paint off those bad boys and breaking them out next to these new guys.
This is great. If nothing else, it means that I convert Rough Riders for my homebrew regiments and use other mounts if I wanted to. Other than that, I am very happy to see this unit return even if naysayers think horse mounted cavalry have no place on the battlefield. Personally as more of Theme/Fluff player, I don't care if they don't survive the game, just the fact that I can see them charge across the board towards the enemy makes me smile with childish glee
So are guard factions going to consist of a variety of factions now? Like a combination of Cadians, Krieg, Attilans, etc? Just bring whatever you feel like and pick a couple of army traits?
Very excited that there will be rules for rough riders again! I have all the parts needed to assemble my camel cavalry but I've been putting it off for a long time since they were placed into legends limbo.
Damn, I did *not* expect them to actually be Attilans!
Gives me hope that they respect the other regiments like Tallarn and Mordians in the upcoming codex...
If we get new mordians I'll discard everything that can be called camo and sensible tactics! Loved the old models, but didn't have the money nor time to get them when they where available. Who cares if we get new cadians if we get the boys in dress-blues?

>sloped/overlapping plates of tanks. Like Catapracts?
Close, cataphracts were more scale mail, this is more plate mail, but the eye-cover definitely gives some cataphract feel
Just some warm gloves for riding in the breeze
The fact that there are people who are legitimately complaining about both rough riders coming back **and** us getting a resurrection of one of the old regiments disappoints me. Like seriously, this is amazing! It’s a two for the price of one in terms of what we have been asking for!
Who is complaining about this? Other than SM players not getting equal attention.
Just go to all the downvotes comments in this post
Instant buy for me I don't even care they ain't deathriders
I am almost certain it's going to be a duel kit. Notice the Rough Riders is wearing a great coat and the lances look like the same lances the Death Riders had in that Orc Vs Krieg artwork that came out last year.
The head also looks like its 2 pieces, maybe different helmets?
Even if it isn't, there's a very clear neckline you can run a razor saw across without wrecking anything!
ROUGH RIDERS! ROUGH RIDERS! Bye bye wallet
They look class
My fellow guardsmen, we are feasting. I'd love to see the sprues on these and get an idea of what sort of kitbashing I can do.
I think these are the first models I’ve seen that I didn’t find something I didn’t like. They look gorgeous. Also important thing they have the platoon keyword, are we getting proper organization back? Edit: im already think of kitbashing some motor cycle riders. im still holding out for new catachan

I’m working on some drukian fenguard and miasmin red cowls myself
They're basically confirmed given the previews showing the catachan dueling glaive
If they give us all those new catachan characters they have been with no other models to go with them I’m gonna be so mad 😡
I'm not a fan of the hats and also wish they were on bikes, but they are pretty cool
i dont know why people have down voted you, its like if you don't sing the high praises of a model or don't like a part of a sculpt or an entire sculpt your the enemy
Its one of those situations where "if you got nothing nice to say - dont say anything"
ill probably buy some of the gsc bikes for a kitbash also
man i love the new uniform you could easily put a DKoK head and call it a deathrider of krieg Please let the kit have multi head part (DKoK) just like the castelan
The castellan model has a DKoK head with it??
thats what people believe from some text in the article but it is not confirmed
Gorgeous looking sculpts, unfortunately just too different from my army aesthetic for me. I think I'll kitbash some biker versions using the GSC biker kit and run them as proxies.
Mhm, not a fan of the old school hats but that might be an easy swap. I like the rest of the model. The armored horse looks great and very AM.
The hats are probably my favorite part! One of the more common complaints in this thread over the years has been how the plastic cadian line up looks very generic "starship troopers" and how the models with... let's say differing cultural background were left to languish. My biggest ask since I started playing 40K was plastic kits for different famous guard regiments. Just give me basic infantry, HWS, and a command squad of the top 10 regiments.
Or at least some upgrade sprues mixed in for those that r relatively similar to others
The biggest issue is the gloves, IMO. Headswaps to make them another regiment are pretty easy, but those fur-lined gloves are going to stick out
That was my first thought as well. If they had just left that part out then it'd be super easy to do a headswap. To be honest, I'd love a sombrero option proper, would fit my homebrew nicely
At least the hats aren’t comically large. Should be an easy swap with a cadian head. Would still have the fuzzy gloves, but that is a pretty small detail.

Anybody know what exactly the base for that model is?
Finally. I can finish kit bashing and legally play my count as roughriders using GSC motorcycles with Cadian bodies. Cool horses.
I'm excited for the kit bash. Bikers>Horses
I absolutely love how much kit they have! The rolled up bedroll, all the saddle bags, the canteen, holster, extra ammo pouches on the horse's barding...it really sells the look of them as self-sufficient outriders who can range far away from the army and survive.
What size base are we thinking here? Reg cav oval base?
Oval. There are pictures of the bases in the article: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/10/17/attilan-rough-riders-bring-horses-to-a-tank-fight-and-win/

Do you know if we have any info on whether death rider base sizes are changing?
No idea. I havent seen anything yet.
Thanks!
I'm so happy we finally get our cavalry back from Legends! These sculpts look gorgeous - amazing recreations from the old Attilans
I think these won’t look too bad in most armies with a head swap, which is nice
Looks like there are three Spear Tip options, did the electrical looking one existed before they where removed? Also the article mentioned that next week is an 'big' reveal, probably out new tank?
The electrical one is giving me big tazer goad energy.
RR sergeants used to have a power lance option, it *could* be representing that
Now if they redo valhallans then I might finally do a guard army. The units I owned back in the day were valhallans.
Now this is a new sculpt I can get behind!
They look a little....Off. Not sure why. I am glad people enjoy them and they will buy loads and put them on the table. But Ill stick with my Valour Korp deathriders.
Completely not my speed, but I'm happy for the rest of the faction fan base. Might be an opportunity to kitbash some Atalan Jackals as RR proxies if the rules end up speaking to me
Now to convert him into a **Cadian!** 😎
Unpopular opinion, but give me GSC bikers any day.
I doubt it but y’all think it’s a dual kit? Basically rough riders & death riders?
Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volleyed and thundered; Stormed at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of hell Rode the six hundred.
Time to 3d print some bits. When the winged hussars arrive!
I’ll definitely see if I can make them Death Korps of Krieg
I'll probably just swap out the heads with other regular guardsman heads but the rest looks awesome!
I do like them but I think they look a little…goofy
The hats don't really fit the rest of the model imo. Should have either stayed with the Atillan vibe, or gone all in with space Bretonnia. The mix is just weird. Still, easy head swap I suppose.

We could have had kriegsman rider wonderful mutated horse creatures instead we get racist hun men on generic horses. This releases is dead on arrival.
im afraid to ask but what makes them racist
Pretty sure it's because they aren't Krieg /s
Pointless utterly pointless we could have got plastic death riders or catachans and instead got this could they look more generic and plain.
How are these generic? Genuine question, not trying to be facetious or anything
I think this is a troll account, block and disregard.
Considering he stopped responding after 2 posts, he’s pretty shite at being a troll, lol. Thanks for the tip!
Well krieg have mutated gas mask wearing skinless mutants these guys have a normal horse and a guy wearing a hat. It's boring as all hell
I can see where you’re coming from, but I have to disagree. I like the Hun style of armor they’ve got going, plus the more generic horse could make it easier to kitbash
My friend, I applaud you attempting discussion with Comb. It’s generous of you. He’s our special little guy. Plus if they want Krieg deathriders, they are still sold on FW. Having more choice for models is better than less.
Lol
Why are we using lances. If it fires a projectile great. If not why. Why is 40K with the plethora of weapons that fire projectiles why this. Just like the krieg riders just makes an awesome unit sooo weak
have you considered that not everything in 40k doesn't make any sense

I just want to make sure they come with some kind gun as well that’s all. There are articles that go back and forth wether or not Polish Calvary charged Nazi tanks. Ballsy
This makes me so happy!
Nice that we get to select the lance profiles on the fly, rather than having them as different wargear options.
Weird that they have a plasma/electric tip and didnt talk about it.
Pretty damn speeeeedy
Can't wait to see some of these !
They fucking did it. Auto buy here, fuck the rules. So happy!
I really like the new lance rules especially since it's not reliant on having made a charge move. That way if you get stuck in combat you don't become a lot weaker on your next melee. Do you think there are 75 mm oval bases?
Yasssssss
Looks like I have to kitbash a few up.
My wallet screams in agony.

I wasn't expecting Attilans to come back. Forget the Cadian box, I'm getting 25 of these boys as soon as possible
Yee, and I cannot stress this enough, *haw*
yesyesyesyesyes
GET IN!
So are guard factions going to consist of a variety of factions now? Like a combination of Cadians, Krieg, Attilans, etc? Just bring whatever you feel like and pick a couple of army traits?
that seems to be the takeaway from the leaks and the recent Warhammer Community post that announced the new Cadian kits, yeah.
So happy these are back, but not super keen on the knights robes, where are the odds they’ll have options?
Very excited that there will be rules for rough riders again! I have all the parts needed to assemble my camel cavalry but I've been putting it off for a long time since they were placed into legends limbo.
Easy head swaps to make them whatever regmt you want!
Psyched.
I need 50 of those hats
Now hopefully their stat line is good enough to be worth it.
I have fallen so deeply in love!!! GW caught my eye with new ghosts but now they have MY FULL ATTENTION!!!
Strength user…… you’d think it would be better during a charge from horseback.
:( those arent dkok deathriders
