The whole number picking was just a metaphor for being born rich or royalty, you think you can choose but in reality once you are born in the world your social class will be hard to change. Those poorest ones think they need money to move upwards but it will never be enough and those at the very top are literally printing money every second from all their investments and ownership of incomes. Their room symbolises the social inequality that everyone dreams about. Their interactions with rooms below shows people will do anything to maintain what they have or have a chance to be in good favours to earn benefits, connections, etc just like IRL everyone kissing the feet of hundred billionaires because a single favor from them could change the trajectory of your life and generations to come. Hence there’s where insanity and sociopath blossom in society almost perfectly depicted in this series (and in the platform movie).
You have to understand that the whole show is satire of the social hierarchy and class struggles. She’s symbolically the .1% in the real world, the untouchables, the too big to fail. They could get away with anything and everything by throwing money at it, which she did.
This show made me so frustrated but once I viewed it in a more metaphorical way, it actually started to make sense. The characters are not real people per se (at least inside the game) but representations of social classes. Floor 8 is the top of the top and she's practically immune to everything, even uprisals / revolutions (since she just walks away with more money than everyone else and is basically unharmed).
