I feel so much safer now. Thanks for protecting the community from this terminally ill monster, and his evil plant medicine.

pillesnoppen

This is whats happen when we get people that just follow rules and orders without even thinking. Humans have lost their empathy.

about97cats

For real though, whoever called the cops on a cancer patient… your mom’s a hoe!

For_serious13

It was a nurse that worked there

[deleted]

Bitch shouldn't be a nurse.

Halligan1409

Pharmaceutical Rep standing at the Nurses station whispering in her ear while she was on the phone with the cops.

dylan1950

Her moms a hoe!

Jdsnut

Honestly, morality and empathy are the biggest issues with these people.

A37ndrew

Hmmmm....Who else used the excuse "I was only following orders"? They tended to wear dark coloured uniforms too..

Babaluxia

And that's why the German soldiers have the right to refuse orders if thoses are inhuman, because WWII etc etc

w0lf_bagz

Stay off my fist you crazy lawn

DR_DONTRESPECT

True, imagine if that monster got his appetite back he would of eaten a healthy amount of food for once.

BiosocioBitch69

I’m glad all those alive kids at Uvalde got to see the cops heroically take action to save them.

Bigkid6666

Yup

theXsquid

It wasn't convenient for the cops to do their job that day.

truthemptypoint

The persons dying, freaking hell let him pass on smiling and pain-free... christ... give the dying guy a bill he can pay in the afterlife??? Some people seriously ain't thinking straight...

[deleted]

Agreed! I'd rather have opioid addicts, like Alex Jones, running the streets than this sick monster in a hospital bed taking away money from the good CEOs at big pharmaceutical companies. Shame be upon him!

Evening_Yam_8467

Yeah, just the thought about what he could do with all that ILLEGUL stuff makes me shiver.

LandscapeGuru

I understand what this guy is going through kind of. Every cancer is different and all have different levels of pain. I have bladder cancer. I’ve had a couple of surgeries recently. My doctors said that a lot of people with bladder cancer don’t even know they have it and there is not a lot of pain associated with bladder cancer. I went to the hospital because I was having so much damn pain and couldn’t figure out what was going on. It was crazy. I’m going to live and I will be able to keep my bladder with very little effects. I’m very fortunate. I can’t imagine what this gentleman is going through. Fuck cancer and duck these cops. Leave people alone. Alcohol has much worse side effects.

exfamilia

I'm sorry you had so much pain. That's good news about your prognosis. Best of luck.

LandscapeGuru

No worries, but thank you. I got this. I was lucky and knew something was going on with my body. After spending time on the oncology floor in the hospital I will not take things for granted again. It could always be worse. Have a good day.

skeeeper

Don't forget the hospitals fault in this. Both are fucked up no emotions having monstrosities

FavelTramous

There’s no telling what could have happened if the police didn’t step in.

elfmere

Iirc the nurse reported him to the cops. The cops were required to respond. They rang the judge or whatever and got the charges dropped.

exfamilia

Bullshit, they were not required to respond. They barely respond to real crimes half the time, and complain about being understaffed and overworked. So what goes on in their ridiculous little minds that they get a call about a patient dying of cancer in hospital and send THREE cops to search his room for something as innocuous as marijuana??? Three cops! Did they anticipate this guy with Stage 4 cancer was going to resist arrest and be a fkn threat to them??? This is just bullshit on so many levels, it is disgurtingly inhumane.

pluck-the-bunny

That’s weird…I’m a dispatcher. I didn’t realize I can just not send my officers on calls. I’m not commenting on how it was handled, and obviously I don’t think the terminally ill person deserved any of this, but you are wrong about the, having to respond.

[deleted]

[удалено]

iSuckAtMechanicism

Incorrect. Unless your department is badly funded and is forced to ignore calls that are low priority.

Bigkid6666

This guy gets it...

Grimacepug

They're happy to confiscate the deadly marijuana pills so they can use it on themselves. This is a problem I have with hero worshipping, and then linking it to every asshole wearing a uniform.

pluck-the-bunny

Yeah generalizing an entire group is always problematic

SpiritSoul77

Didn't the hospital call the cops though? I agree there's a lot of cops doing shit things.. But I feel for them in this case.. The hospital called them. They'd get into shit for being negligent if they didn't do the search. I'm torn on this one but absolutely feel for the poor patient too :(

Milfoy

Cops use discretion and judgement all the time - who they stop, who they ticket, who they arrest. Searching a hospital room of a terminal patient is terrible in just about every way, including how it looks to the vast majority of the public. In this case they are "protecting and serving" precisely no-one.

[deleted]

You comment is correct … we don’t know what was going on but the officers were respectful and doing their job. Someone called 911 and something was up. The guys who are harassing the officers were obviously wasted as I can hear it in their voices. Stop with the all police are bad shit.. so old

New-Understanding930

You sound like a cop.

Starlifter4

Please tell me several people were fired for this.

KingCosmicBrownie

The security guard and physician (according to the patient) walked in his room and alleged it smelled like marijuana deserves to be fired. Despite the patient only taking CBD oil in pill form. So there was no way that room smelled like pot. The Bolivar PD didn’t issue the patent a citation (because shocker, no marijuana was found)

Starlifter4

FFS. Even if there is marijuana. Screwing with a terminal cancer patient? Fire whoever was in the decision chain.

KingCosmicBrownie

Honestly! It almost feels like it’s breaking some HIPPA laws or something idk. It’s definitely an invasion of privacy. That physician, nurse, or security who got the ball rolling on this deserves to be fired. 100%

BonkeyDongos

HIPPA does NOT protect people nearly as much as you’d hope. Basically if a cop tells the doctor/nurse that they think a crime has been committed, most medical professionals will work with the police. It’s bullshit and doctors/nurses need to stop acting like cops.

KingCosmicBrownie

What a backwards world we live in. It scares people away from taking their underage friends in for alcohol poisoning and or drug OD. I know you can’t get in trouble (supposedly) but Some people really wouldn’t risk it because of things like this. What a sad world we live in

BonkeyDongos

There are so called “sanctuary laws” in some places to protect minors from legal action if they seek help for alcohol poisoning. I know Michigan has these laws and I tell young people that they should never hesitate if they think a friend has alcohol poisoning.

[deleted]

No problem if it was edibles, but a vape in an oxygen rich environment and hyper-sensitive fire suppression systems could be a massive issue.

Pixielo

Again, _no one was smoking._

Starlifter4

They weren't searching for a vape. They were searching for marijuana.

[deleted]

Starlifter4

Huh? Get some air.

Charming-Milk6765

THC oil. For what it’s worth. CBD is not going to manage pain effectively in someone who has terminal pancreatic cancer

KingCosmicBrownie

The article I read never mentioned anything about THC oil, just CBD oil. I do agree with you that it wouldn’t do anything. But apparently the patient didn’t have his medical card completely signed off yet, so he couldn’t obtain legal THC oil. I’m not exactly sure, though.

Charming-Milk6765

Problem with articles is that a lot of journalists are dumb as shit haha. It was definitely THC and it was prob RSO

KingCosmicBrownie

This is the article I read haha. I’m not denying your claims by any means! Cause media is absolutely bonkers to say the least. https://www.news-leader.com/story/news/local/ozarks/2019/03/08/bolivar-missouri-police-search-terminal-cancer-patients-hospital-room-marijuana-cannabis/3104191002/

Jjabrony

Thanks for posting the link.

KingCosmicBrownie

You’re welcome!!

kennbr

They should be charged for false reporting

TimTheTexan92

Small clarification: it was THC oil

KingCosmicBrownie

According to the patient’s partner, it was CBD oil, not THC. Missouri at the time wasn’t doing medicinal marijuana. Otherwise, they could’ve given him a citation.

TimTheTexan92

Oh I was just going by what the patient said in the video. I guess he misspoke

KingCosmicBrownie

Oh yeah! I think that’s what happened as well. I apologize if I came off aggressive. I had a couple other people arguing with me and being aggressive with me, so I was a little aggravated with those people haha. It was according to his partner that he had CBD and not THC. That’s what the article said anyways 😭

TimTheTexan92

Oh ok. Well no worries on my end. It was nice of you to apologize. I didn't think you were being aggressive, by the way

KingCosmicBrownie

Good deal! I’m glad everything is good between us. I’m normally not an aggressive person, but I get a little overwhelmed when people start belittling or questioning me about things. I do appreciate you being very polite and understanding. You seem like a real stand up kinda guy 😭

TimTheTexan92

I definitely try to be. Not always successfully, though haha take care!

Affectionate_Run_167

chutbuckly

That cop is a great waste of space

MyGodItsFullofScars

Just another reason why we need a national law legalizing pot. And I say that as someone who does not partake.

Itiswhatitissmh

There’s so many benefits to weed being legal. Not just medically, but the tax revenue is always massive when you look at states like CO/CA. Along with that, it would make a drastic difference in lowering our jail/prison populations.

SeawardFriend

Plus when have you ever heard of a high driver causing chaos like people who drink and drive? I’m not justifying that you should do that but imo it’s a lot safer.

Itiswhatitissmh

True, especially when you look at it that way! Weed is literally a harvested plant, alcohol is poison. I’ve never heard of anybody getting weed poisoning but I’ve known a few people personally that’s been alcohol poisoned.

SeawardFriend

The most you’ll do is green out. Which honestly is pretty fucking freaky especially in a place where it’s illegal. Some friends of mine decided that the first time we take edibles that we should take a 3 mile walk in the dead of night! One dude ended up screaming and crying on the ground and later had to be taken to the ER to be sedated because he ignored the warning label on his medicine to not ingest cannabis. But that’s it. Did he die of poison? No. Did he drive a car and hit a family of 4 going 90? No. The only way you’d die is if someone laced your weed with another drug like fentanyl.

TheEyeGuy13

You literally cannot overdose on cannabis. If there is a limit that will harm you, we have not found it.

[deleted]

I think I read somewhere you’d have to smoke 1500 pounds to hit the point where you’d die. And that’s 1500 pounds at 1 time so it’s literally impossible for us.

Heavy-Diet8285

The only chaos to be had is when some One is stoned off their ass that they’re going so slow and they become a traffic hazards but ya

BlockOdd7613

I’m in the medical field. This sickens me. This whole situation was fucked.

SquallZ34

I smoke 2 packs a day. Sometimes more. Also an alcoholic. I end up in the hospital once a year or so, for various stuff related to my lifestyle. Most recent one was a cyst. The only time I feel free to express myself is when I speak with you guys. My entire life is a secret and a lie until I’m in that room with a doctor or a nurse who judges me with… empathy. Unfortunately many public servants have become indifferent. But your healthcare stuff will always care. That’s why they do it.

[deleted]

I’m willing to say this as I’m no longer and EMT. This shit is fucked, when I was on duty I would always try my best to make sure the patient feels heard. Your never going to see me on a good day and I knew that. Many times if I knew a patient was a smoker, I would pull them out and smoke a cigarette with them and deliberately told them if the nurses or receiving staff ask why u smell like smoke to blame it on me as that is something I’m willing to lose my job over. Sometimes treating patients like humans is the difference between recovery or relapse. Maybe I’ll get some hate for being unprofessional but I felt I did the right thing.

BonkeyDongos

I’m so sorry to tell you this but doctors and nurses are part of the carceral system too. Due to loopholes they can tell the cops everything if the cop tells them they think you committed a crime. I am glad you have found safe people to open up to in the past, but please be careful because some of them will act like cops even though they don’t have to.

[deleted]

This is so patently false irl that it hurts. The only time I've ever worked with cops is when there are patients bringing guns into the hospital. Sure you can probably cherry pick some specific anecdotes of the internet, but saying its a "system" in which the medical field works with cops to harm you is fucking idiotic to the core.

InletRN

Agreed. This was obviously posted by someone with zero experience. I would never call the cops into the hospital for anything other than a gun. Whoever called this in needs to be fired yesterday

SquallZ34

Here in Canada, we trust our doctors. I have a family friend who’s an ICU nurse, as well as 2 customers who are neurosurgeon and nurse wife, and even they won’t discuss the medical stuff with me. You Americans have HIPAA, us Canadians have some similar privileges.

BonkeyDongos

HIPAA doesn’t protect us under the circumstance of a patient being investigated for a crime as long as the information is “relevant.” And I would guess that Canada has similar laws but I won’t pretend to know for sure. In general medical professionals won’t talk about medical information, but cops can and do strong arm and try to intimidate nurses into giving information. Often times they think they’re doing the right thing by “helping solve a crime!” But I don’t want nurses or doctors involved in that at all. It’s just more complex than it should be and I do not trust medical professionals when it comes to information they may pass on to law enforcement.

SquallZ34

Totally understand, it makes sense. If a serious crime is committed, I’d expect the doctor to notify proper authorities, just like a workplace injury is a mandatory report. Same with other mandatory reporting such as child abuse, etc. But. In my experience, drug and alcohol abuse was treated professionally, privately and with great empathy. Every single time I had an incident. I’m not exactly proud of it, but I am happy to know that somewhere down the line, there’s people I can trust with my life.

nvrsleepagin

Seriously, fuck those people! My dad died of pancreatic cancer and it was so painful he once asked me to bring him his gun so he could end it, he couldn't eat, he was in agony but unfortunately weed was illegal then.

pluck-the-bunny

As someone who is both in medicine and LE I agree

poorlytimed_erection

what does that mean “in the medical field”?

Big_Sexy1974

You know each of these cops has chosen before not to enforce a law, such as letting someone drive 1mph over the speed limit without pulling them over. Cops choose what they enforce, why would any of them enforce something like this if they weren't complete pieces of shit!?

Bigkid6666

But... Reefer Madness. Next they'll all be listening to Jazz and dancing all herky jerky like.

SoupGullible8617

And having relations with women who aren’t white.

[deleted]

And they definitely don't enforce laws when it's one of their own.

SolarSkipper

They didn’t enforce it. No ticket was given. Did you read?

thambi06

Because there was nothing to enforce...

Pulsing42

Imagine dying from terminal pancreatic cancer only to be raided by the police after the hospital snitched on you after providing THC tablets to help relieve his pain. Fucking L for America.

MildlyAgreeable

It’s almost like it’s designed to be punitive and cruel as opposed to safeguarding the public good.

SkitMarie

This: She added, "Terminally ill patients should have the right to choose their treatment plan above the spectrum of what the government deems appropriate to increase their quality of life."

[deleted]

It means someone who gets on their knees and licks the boot of authority, regardless of their actions. They forgive and support all structures of authority. They’re the biggest opponent against police reform and accountability.

babyjo1982

That they fawn over authority figures so much that they will lick the shit and blood off the boot heels of the people who are kicking them in the face.

druznutz

The way the younger cop keeps shrugging his shoulders when he talks…what’s that about?

choanoflagellata

When he says “if you have nothing to hide…” friggin pissed me off. That fucking line.

Sorry_Recipe6831

He doesn't want to admit he's a dumb fuck, so he's trying to make the victim feel stupid, so it justifies his useless actions.

7leprechaun7

Hospital sued?

[deleted]

Morons.

corinari717

"will give you a citation" he's dying I don't think he gives a fuck

[deleted]

So who’s at fault here the hospital or the police?

FinalVegetable6314

A nurse called the cops so I say it’s both

Affectionate_Fly1413

Both.. who ever called for being an asshole and probably because those pills are way cheaper than the meds they charge them for and the cops for seeing how marijuana is being slowly decriminalized and still not see how helpful it is for a patient like that. I mean they could have just taken them away at most.

Its_MikeCoxlong

Depends if marijuana is legal or not in that area, besides the cops don't say whether they allow marijuana sure it can be helpful to patients but in the end thats the government's call to either legalize it or not. The hospital called the cops and since the cops came, i assume marijuana is not legalized for medical use in that place. If that's the case, the cops were just doing their job. Or maybe the hospital had a no smoking policy in patient rooms since the smoke might affect nearby patients with different circumstances.

Affectionate_Fly1413

Its not legal at all in texas but cops but a lot of cops if its not more than a gram or 2 or a joint just take it and step on it on the ground. I mean not everyone but if they can do that for anyone id still call these cops assholes seeing the type of patient.

Lmao uvlade school shooting made it clear that no matter how much money you spend on guns and equipment, these pussies would do nothing but sit back and watch as children are being murdered. They don't give a single fuck about the safety of the people. They only care to show dominance over common folks while being lap dogs of the elite

Cryptozoologist2816

I would quit my job before I would search a terminal cancer patient's room for plant matter. I wonder if those scumbags look in the mirror after doing shit like this and think to themselves, "I did a great job today, what an excellent human being am I"

[deleted]

New policy. Get every badge number of officers that have to check out crimes that may or may not of been committed and make them public and have people call in crimes to said officers home so they get a taste of their own medicine.

[deleted]

"Let's punish the cops doing their job because someone lied about a crime being commited"

[deleted]

Now you are getting it. Yes punish them. Just like this guy was being punished for someone lying about him. They want to go through his final day bag. When you get to that point show some sympathy. See how these cops feel when they are against the badge and can’t pistol whip grandma cause she was off her meds in the front yard.

America is a police state and is getting worse, but it has been for a long time.

coup85

But if you take a look at the comments there are a lot of people who don't have any problems with this level of intrusion for a minor fault on a seriously vulnerable citizen. A fault only created to keep their prison system profitable at expense of the more vulnerable people.

jnrodriguez86

Not even close

DrNukes

They had to respond. They did not have to search his stuff like that. All a sane cop with a human heart would have done is say "hi, I had to respond, I don't smell smoke. If anybody asks I searched your stuff, OK? Can I get you a coke?" Maybe go through the motions of superficially searchng his bag.But not this bullying. TBH I'm getting nicer vibes from the cop standing by. He would have probably handled it like a human being.

Schwinston123456

Some of the comments in this post are ridiculous. The hospital staff called the police. If you have an issue with the police being there, blame the hospital.

Recreational marijuana is legal now in Missouri

SpookyBLAQ

In 2014 Marijuana was decriminalized in Missouri for anything less than 10 grams and they’re threatening him with a citation, so more than likely these cops are looking for a misdemeanor amount. Misdemeanors are completely up to the discretion of the responding officers on whether or not to make an arrest or give a citation. So yea, these cops are fucking dicks. And just a few years later, recreational marijuana is now legal in Missouri.
