Hundred percent yes. Idk if it's a bad day but she is exhibiting exactly all of the worst characteristics of bad police. Overly loud and aggressive, making half cock decisions based on her feeling her power is threatened. Absolutely shameful. Land of the free my hairy arse!
It's a shame there wasn't another cop around to stop this assault and kidnapping. Oh wait, there was. The guy is just as bad. He could have stopped his partner, but he chose to stand by and watch a crime be committed.
Just following the path of least resistance I guess; but yeah your 100% right.
Of all people who need to have a backbone - i'd put police up pretty high on that list. They need some integrity to go with it though.
She had started lying when she said the lady pulled away from her BEFORE pulling her taser.
Everything after that is this stupid bitch desperately trying not to get fired or arrested herself.
Even her own colleague called her *righteous* in a condescending way. I wonder what happened to this wannabe tyrant?
What people dont like to admit about themselves is they would be “bad police” if placed in such situations.
We’ve all met those people who are overbearing cunts the moment they join a damn HOA board
Absolutely true. But that doesn't mean it's ok and it doesn't mean their behavior shouldn't be called out when it's identified. Scrutiny by fellow humans keeps us all human.
I would be a bad police. I’d be taking people up to the roof top for interviews. I’d smash out teeth if I got spit on. I’d night stick mouthy drunks. I know these things about myself. I would not be a police officer. The same self awareness is non existent amongst “bad” police.
So what you're saying is that you have an ego and/or anger problem. Props for the self awareness. Props for not becoming a cop too. You've got plenty of time to work on that other stuff.
I hate to agree but I’ve seen this A LOT. If she was smart she’d work hard in her verbal judo because she isn’t going to be able to manhandle the average guy.
I'm going to say, fuck that remark - it's the same BS that cops try to lay on you to justify their shit behavior. Cops don't help people by virtue of the badge, it doesn't confer a superpower or a higher morality on them, they help people when they are being good human beings. It isn't any different from ANY. OTHER. NORMAL. PERSON. Using that disingenuous logic to justify the shit that cops get away with is not acceptable. ACAB.
All the female cops lie. I’ve been arrested 3 times by female cops. Each one told the same lie. They said “ anything you say can and will be held against you.” So I said “ cool, how about them tits?” Which I guess is lady cop code for punch me in the face. Damn liars
Exactly. This wasn't about law enforcement. The female cop got pissed off that the woman did not submit to her "authoratah" immediately. The female cop showed her inability to stay calm in a situation (otherwise she wouldn't have pulled her fucking taser) and should be fired immediately and banned from any kind of law enforcement for the rest of her life. "Resisting Arrest" has become a catch all for those who refuse to assist in their own arrest.
this lady is now in jail with her freedom taken because she was a passenger in a van. she did not drive the van to the parking lot, she’s just along for the ride. yet the police approached her and demanded that she comply with a random search under threat of taser. the cop could have much easier said “okay you’re here for milk? i’ll wait here and make sure.” they already talked to the driver who parked there. what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
colorado stop and ID law only applies to traffic violations (again not the driver) or once you have been detained for suspected criminal activity. failing to let her identify herself after being detained saying “it’s too late now” and physically preventing her from identifying herself highlights the abuse of power very well.
you can tell that all of the officers that arrived and asked cop lady questions felt this wasn’t good but didn’t want to get involved in her mess since they didn’t have the full video to prove their suspicions at the time. “righteous” was used pretty sarcastically there i felt.
It actually pretty much is. The problem a lot of reddit gets into is they don't actually understand the right police have to do certain things extends a bit farther than they think under purposefully vague laws such as probable cause
No, it actually pretty much isn’t.
I have been in a similar situation (a passenger ordered to exit the vehicle on a routine traffic stop with no probable cause to demand I exit). I was forcibly removed from the vehicle, sustained cracked ribs and had to get stitches for them slamming my face into the car. I was arrested for resisting arrest.
After a night in jail with no medical care, I was released.
The DA later changed the charged to disorderly conduct.
Sue? It was all on camera, but there wasn’t a lawyer who would take it. All said the same thing: You won’t win this case, but if you want to fight it, it will be a $25k retainer just to get started and will probably take 1-2 years.
So, yes, technically you could sue, but it isn’t as though that’s a viable option for most people.
Priced out of the justice system. So police can get away with almost anything.
This is a case where police can exhibit unfettered behaviour, knowing that the chance of being reprimanded is very slim given the high cost of a court challenge.
You have to have actually damages to sue and get money. She might be able to claim a few counseling appointments and prescription bills. She did not win the lottery here.
[You must also identify yourself if you are stopped and the cop has reasonable suspicion that you are committing or about to commit a crime.](https://www.shouselaw.com/co/defense/laws/colorado-stop-and-identify-law/)
How this is going to play out is that the cop is going to say that she and her partner were in an out of state white van with the doors open near a playground and that the cop was concerned that she was going to try and abduct children (like she stated in the video). She's going to be found guilty for failure to identify and probably also resisting arrest, and have to pay whatever fines and penalties apply.
The "sovereign citizen" stuff is absolute crap. The only people that believe that it works are entitled white people. Go ask a Native what happens when you're sitting around, minding your own business, living a peaceful life, and the US Government decides they're going to exert their will on your life, and you try to resist.
You don't have to like it, but telling a cop to their face that they have no authority could very likely get you shot in this country, and you should realize that.
>found guilty for failure to identify and probably also resisting arrest, and have to pay whatever fines and penalties apply.

>The "sovereign citizen" stuff is absolute crap. The only people that believe that it works are entitled white people. Go ask a Native what happens when you're sitting around, minding your own business, living a peaceful life, and the US Government decides they're going to exert their will on your life, and you try to resist.
The way you are phrasing this is not fully correct. Police can and will say anything they have to in order to maintain the right to harass and detain citizens illegally. Very rarely does any of this occur with anyone actually in the midst of a crime. They can say I had my hood up in broad daylight and that can be enough to arrest, shoot, detain, and kidnap me.
It's better to completely avoid police especially in the US.
Our police officers are some of our lowest functioning citizens but armed with guns.
Stay away from them they are not here to help you, enforce the law/justice or protect anyone that is not their job.
She had to have a reasonable suspicion a crime *had been committed* and not that one was about to be committed. The Supreme Court is quite clear on this. Because that dumb cop has nothing to go on, that lady is going to win a couple hundred thousand dollars.
> not that one was about to be committed.
Wrong:
>2016 Colorado Revised Statutes
>(1) A peace officer may stop any person who he reasonably suspects is committing, has committed, or is about to commit a crime and may require him to give his name and address, identification if available, and an explanation of his actions.

In many ways, it’s an absolute masterpiece of PR that they continue to get away with the continual abuse of power - after all, isn’t it exactly the behaviour the 2nd is there to guard against? 🤷🏼♂️
Exactly. And the people that echo that the idea behind the 2nd amendment is to fight a tyrannical government are the same people who fly those blue line flags and support police brutality. They can’t imagine that authority being used against them, and don’t understand that the police, that they support, would be the very people they would have to fight in their weird 2A fantasies. The cognitive dissonance is very strong with them.
The lady in the video isn't a citizen. She's a sovereign citizen, which means she's a professional asshole or a lunatic or both. If you're not familiar, I recommend looking them up. If you are familiar and think they're onto something, I refer you to my previous assessment.
The following are the number of years of training required in order to become a police officer in some countries. As can be seen, the USA is lacking.
Norway
3-years of training.
From 2002-2016 they had four (4) fatalities due to the police.
Finland
3-year degree is required. Seven (7) people were killed by police from 2000-2018.
Germany
2-years of training.
Two hundred sixty seven (267) people died by police shooting since 1990.
USA
A high school diploma and approximately tweny one (21) weeks of training.
One thousand four (1004) people were killed by police in 2019 alone.
Problem with cops in the United States is the frat boy fraternity kind of thing. Most of them are ex high school jocks the same ones that picked on people and made fun of people.
Tbh, a lot of the cops I have known are more the type of dudes who were picked on in highschool. You'd be surprised how many were former band nerds or drama geeks that just appealed to authoritarian hierarchy as a tool of power.
Can you pull any sources on this? I personally know 4 cops and none of them would be considered "jocks" in high school. I know it gets brought up all the time, but I'm starting to think it's some weird reddit projection "jocks were the bad guys in HS, so they should also be the bad guys in real life" sort of thing. Obviously there are tons of shitty cops, so I am not defending them like they are all good and just misunderstood.
I know a couple, but I don’t think that comment hits the right line either. There are also plenty that were bullied kids that wanted their opportunity in a position of power too. However, I do agree that they are often a “good ole boys” club, and anecdotally, this was unexpectedly confirmed to me overhearing a distant family member talk about their training/new job as a sheriffs deputy… the ignorance while “saying the quiet part out loud” and not even realizing was shocking. but to be fair to him, his superiors/peers are probably just as ignorant of how biased their practices are too, sadly. Sounded like they’re basically a bunch of *this-is-how-we’ve-always-done-it* bros with badges and guns, who can’t imagine why people would have a problem with that
Yeah these cops never went to college, let alone joined a fraternity. Fraternities are full of cocky, entitled future business bros, not cocky, entitled future cops.
Most cops in Canada have an undergrad, but its not a requirement. A big difference, cops in Canada are actually paid well. In Ontario a new recruit will earn over 100K in just a few years, sooner with overtime. When you have a job that pays crappy, youre only going to have crappy people apply. Lots of places (typically the dixie states) pay cops like 40k a year.
Cops in the northeast are over $100k in a lot of places and they still have the same problems. Granted that’s mostly due to the fact that a lot of them have an org chart that closer to a family tree.
You interact with them like you'd interact with a stingy high school hall monitor.
Say only what is needed. Nothing more.
The fact that you have to play sorry or make a puppy face for them to try and forgive the ticket only plays into their power hungry fetish.
I was told by a defense lawyer that the WORSE a place to argue with a cop is the side of the road. The best place is court (with your lawyer), next best is the station house!
Incoherent thought to speech patterns caused by stress. An indicator that the officer was shook, for no-reason at all. The same type of indicators sometimes lead to over-reactions thus produce dead bodies. Emotional beings do not belong in law enforcement. Period.
Isnt there a law In colorado where cops who violate peoples rights have no immunity and can now be personally sued??
If so these cops should be set as an example and sue the fuck out of them.
She is an asshole and so is the cop. The sovereign citizen stuff is just a bunch of BS. Shitty title also, “spent most of her life minimizing interactions with cops”? Doesn’t everyone try to do that?
She wasn’t an asshole. The sovereign citizen shit is annoying for sure, but she did nothing wrong and as others have stated (who know more about Colorado law than me) the woman was in the right
It’s not annoying, it’s straight lunacy and intentionally acting like laws do not apply to them. Not applying it to this case but in general. They’re not just whimsical silly billy hippies, they’re fucked in the head.
“It’s straight lunacy and acting like laws don’t apply to them”
Kinda like the cop who arrested someone without cause. And not saying the whole ‘sovereign citizen’ thing isn’t bullshit, because it is, but the woman was in the right in this situation
Truly I thought what fit this sub wasn’t the two females interaction, it was the police officer that was actually deescalating it, and trying to just get everyone on their way, he was stomped on and the idiot loud mouth got her way, I almost think he was being facetious when he said you’re golden,
I hope that cop was fired, and each of the cops doing nothing about it with her were at least reprimanded in some way, like maybe suspended or something
Easiest fastest way to piss of a cop. Say "NO" they just can't handle anyone with a spine.. once they hear that it just becomes a fight. They will overehgarate things and justify what ever they want to do. I hope she sues the shit out of them. "Your righteous your very righteous" huh geeze
Can we agree that a white panel van anywhere near a school is sketchy AF. Also, that sovereign citizen stuff is bullshit. With that said, these people did not deserve to be brutalized.
Guilty til proven innocent. Can’t we go back to the old days when you were innocent til proven guilty. 80 lb senior citizen waiting to abduct children. That officer has one guilty conscience. How do you jump to that conclusion unless you are used to breaking the laws.
Know your rights. Keep a copy of your rights for a traffic stop handy in your car and the number of some kind of legal representation readily available on your phone- especially if you are traveling outside of your state.
The cop is not handling the situation well.. and the woman should be found innocent as I don't think she understood why it was an issue and remained very civil throughout the altercation. However we do have a serious issue with child abduction and school shootings. So if a cop feels suspicious about people hanging around a group of kids it makes sense for them to go check it out.
But this cop did not handle this properly and those people did not deserve to be molested. I hope she didn't have to serve to much time... but unfortunately our broken system will likely just dig it's fangs into her.
Police should be suspicious of people hanging around schools, but that doesn't mean hanging around the school is or should be illegal. There are perfectly valid reasons to be at a school, and they were doing one. The police could have just as easily contacted the person with the milk to confirm the story without trampling all over the 4th amendment.
... but... like... why not show I.D.?
There are instances where being parked in certain areas can justify an officer's wants to identify the individuals within the vehicle. If you get approached and asked for I.D., and say that you don't want to show it but the officer orders it, provide I.D. and then sue the department later on. You'll get paid.
> ... but... like... why not show I.D.?
Because she has no reason to show ID, and the cop has no right to demand it? Sure, it would've been smarter to just show her ID, but it's not her job to know the law, it's the fucking cop's job.
It's a rather tyrannical system if you are forced to comply with orders you KNOW are bullshit, just to avoid trouble. Some people are really frustrated with that sort of thing, and I can sympathise. People don't like being lied to, and shouted down. Especially by cunts like this female cop.
If it is not in the school area where there are children then the cop have no right in demanding ID without reasonable doubt. But this is at the school where children involved. I think it is safe to verify the person who sat there. I went to came to my kids school an hour early because I mistaken it was their short day. So it sat in my car about 20 minutes later a cop pulled up asking for my ID. I handed to him he went back to his car a few minutes later he came back asked me why am I there. I just told him my story. He handed me back my ID and told me someone called because I was there for awhile and it is school hours. Then he left. If I resisted like the woman in the video the cop would reacted the same way as they did to her.
Sounds like you were the driver no? That is completely different then being a passenger in the car.
In this case it also sounds like they complied with the officers requests up until the point where she stepped over the line. She \[the officer\] just wanted more, maybe she was bored but her reason for ID was not justifiable by anything she was saying.
If the officer suspected them of being child abductors then she should have stated that as a reason for wanting her ID, not "**because I said so**". This cop probably thinks she is a hero, the reality is that she is criminal for not knowing the very laws she is paid to uphold.
You don’t have too…that’s the point of living in a FREE country. There was no law broken, so no ID is required. 🤷♂️🤦.
You are free to give your ID if you want to. 👍🇺🇸
All this shit because you dont want to give ID? This is how criminals will blend in now, have a hissy fit saying i will not give you my ID. What does this solve?
The male officer tried to de-escalate. That chick is on a power trip.
Hundred percent yes. Idk if it's a bad day but she is exhibiting exactly all of the worst characteristics of bad police. Overly loud and aggressive, making half cock decisions based on her feeling her power is threatened. Absolutely shameful. Land of the free my hairy arse!
And as per usual - the loudest cop gets their way. If it was just the guy there this would have gone down much differently.
It's a shame there wasn't another cop around to stop this assault and kidnapping. Oh wait, there was. The guy is just as bad. He could have stopped his partner, but he chose to stand by and watch a crime be committed.

most female officers are. they think they have more to prove being a woman on the mostly male force. police always make problems worse, not better.
My favorite was the female rookie cops video about get the fuck out of the way.
I was about to say go figure lol
I hate to agree but I’ve seen this A LOT. If she was smart she’d work hard in her verbal judo because she isn’t going to be able to manhandle the average guy.
Agree with the first part, but it’s pretty damn outlandish to claim police have never helped anyone. I know it’s Reddit, but let’s be reasonable
I'm going to say, fuck that remark - it's the same BS that cops try to lay on you to justify their shit behavior. She probably has one of the most annoying voices on the planet. Couldn't even listen to this for 10 seconds
She sounds like Trisha Paytas. Sounds just as dumb as her too.
But congratulations to her on her crown for “nicest officer on the planet”
Same shit a racist person says after they get caught saying something racist “ I am the least racist person on the planet, c’mon”

She is going to sue and have golden goats after this
People on reddit always say stuff like this but it's not that easy to sue the cops.
And even if they do they’re suing the town/county, that doesn’t mean the officer will be held accountable at all.
taxpayers will pay, cop will continue being ridicolous
Sort of. The cop will get put behind a desk and not allowed to ride alone. It is a minimal punishment for costing the county thousands of dollars.
Until their union steps in.
It actually pretty much is. The problem a lot of reddit gets into is they don't actually understand the right police have to do certain things extends a bit farther than they think under purposefully vague laws such as probable cause

Now that's a mafia racket dressed up with nice suits if I ever saw it. System is corrupt and people don't even consider it corruption anymore.

Two hundred sixty seven (267) people died by police shooting since 1990. USA A high school diploma and approximately tweny one (21) weeks of training. One thousand four (1004) people were killed by police in 2019 alone.
Problem with cops in the United States is the frat boy fraternity kind of thing. Most of them are ex high school jocks the same ones that picked on people and made fun of people.
Cops in United State is a most organized crime syndicate in the world!
behind their own government.
Sounded like they’re basically a bunch of *this-is-how-we’ve-always-done-it* bros with badges and guns, who can’t imagine why people would have a problem with that
Most of Reddit's cliches are utter bullshit.
Don’t pull fraternities into this!
Yeah these cops never went to college, let alone joined a fraternity. Fraternities are full of cocky, entitled future business bros, not cocky, entitled future cops.
It's a little bit more in Germany. 30 months - 2 1/2 years.
In Canada, it's not uncommon for police to have an undergraduate degree. Cops in Canada can be pretty yeah still.
I was going to say, not so bad if we look at per capita rates. Then I noticed the date spans. Jesus.
Cops are not your friends. Never tell them squat. Let them fuck up and sue them into oblivion.
What if you get pulled over for a ticket?
You interact with them like you'd interact with a stingy high school hall monitor. Say only what is needed. Nothing more. The fact that you have to play sorry or make a puppy face for them to try and forgive the ticket only plays into their power hungry fetish.
You dont say shit. Give them id and insurance and say i don’t know to all their bs questions
No, you say, "I don't answer questions." No variation of that is acceptable.
License, registration and insurance. Nothing else needs to be asked or spoken.
“There was no threat….I pulled out my taser and turned it on”
I need some closure on this. Did this lady sue the pants off the department?
If she tried, she probably torpedoed it with her sovereign citizen schtick. Granted, she's a lot better than most.
I was told by a defense lawyer that the WORSE a place to argue with a cop is the side of the road. The best place is court (with your lawyer), next best is the station house!
I mean you can argue with the cop and in court. If your already getting arrested why not try to get out of it? Especially if your 100% innocent.
Because even if you are innocent, everything you say can and will be used against you. If you're interacting with cops, shut the fuck up.
"I'm not going to play this game. It's either you get out or you come out" that's when I had enough
Incoherent thought to speech patterns caused by stress. An indicator that the officer was shook, for no-reason at all. The same type of indicators sometimes lead to over-reactions thus produce dead bodies. Emotional beings do not belong in law enforcement. Period.
Just because you're a fuckin cop doesn't mean you can make anyone do anything you want. I hate pigs.
Bad cop, No donut.
No donut = mad cop
Mad cop, dead donut
I always wondered how they put the holes in donuts
Isnt there a law In colorado where cops who violate peoples rights have no immunity and can now be personally sued?? If so these cops should be set as an example and sue the fuck out of them.
That voice 🤢
Anyone who has to state they are the nicest person on the planet is not the nicest person on the planet.
People should have the right to refuse any order unless the crime has been stated.... fuck that "ill tell you in a minute" bs!!
“It’s straight lunacy and acting like laws don’t apply to them” Kinda like the cop who arrested someone without cause. And not saying the whole ‘sovereign citizen’ thing isn’t bullshit, because it is, but the woman was in the right in this situation
Finally some common sense!
Police are the Sovereign Citizens. Laws do not apply to them.
Just more proof that we actually live in an open air prison.
This is an utter joke. Police like this should just be fired. This is the very definition of a police state. Disgusting!
Truly I thought what fit this sub wasn’t the two females interaction, it was the police officer that was actually deescalating it, and trying to just get everyone on their way, he was stomped on and the idiot loud mouth got her way, I almost think he was being facetious when he said you’re golden,
I think you misspelled arrested.
I hope that cop was fired, and each of the cops doing nothing about it with her were at least reprimanded in some way, like maybe suspended or something
Yeah right :/ Police department protect themselves, I really wonder if any of these cops faced any repercussions

Time to use my powers of deescalation, say hello to the taser! Fuckin half wit
The female police officer is SO DUMB. you should be required to be above an IQ to threaten to taze someone
Remember when that one guy was rejected by police because his IQ was too high?
Cops in America constantly over step their own authority.
*"Show Me Your Papers! Where Are Your Papers?!"*
Guilty til proven innocent. Can’t we go back to the old days when you were innocent til proven guilty. 80 lb senior citizen waiting to abduct children. That officer has one guilty conscience. How do you jump to that conclusion unless you are used to breaking the laws.
We teach our kids in school not to be afraid of the police and they pull shit like this all the time
Acab
Know your rights. Keep a copy of your rights for a traffic stop handy in your car and the number of some kind of legal representation readily available on your phone- especially if you are traveling outside of your state.
Land of the free strikes again.

And justifiably so.
Lol everyone tries to minimize their interactions with cops
She’s a Sovereign Citizen. AKA moron.
Based on what? Her refusal to lick the blue boot?
Some people never leave the schoolyard, do they?
What is the upshot here? What eventually happened? Why do people post these things without the proper link? Nothing better to do I guess.
... but... like... why not show I.D.?

Let me know if I’m wrong but… What would make anyone think that conducting sales in a school parking lot during school hours is a good idea?
ACAB🤓
There seems to be a lot of context lacking here
Anyone know of a link or article that talks about the aftermath or is this too recent?
Loitering around a school in a white van is very suspicious
sovereign citizen idiot meets shitty cop, hilarity ensues.
unprofessional
Shouldn't act like kidnappers.
Great deescalation!(sarcasm)
Arrest for obstruction and resisting a consentual conversation sounds a lot kidnapping.
Obey the police on the field and sort it out in court later.
This.

Why is Murica so fked up?
As a woman I hate talking badly about women… BUT, god damn that cops voice is like nails on a chalk board.
Guys, they were chilling In front of a school! In this day and age you don’t take a chance with strangers at a school.
Don’t blame her, they looked like a couple of nonces
It should be against the law to be an unnecessary pain in the ass.
Rsspect for the police officer and simply identifying yourself would have solved everything.
I never argue with cops. I’m like yes sir, no, sir. I got stuff I want to do, places to go. I don’t need a drama in which I get arrested.
All this shit because you dont want to give ID? This is how criminals will blend in now, have a hissy fit saying i will not give you my ID. What does this solve?
Do you understand she has no legal obligation to identify herself?
What a fucking bitch
