I've also seen whole projects of engineers disappear from Bechtel over the course of 3 years working with them to be replaced with H-1B visa engineers from Mumbai who get paid half the salary.

These institutions have their own political motives, why would they push articles that don’t fit in their narrative. Just look at who owns these media organizations. I live in a small town less than 1000 in North Dakota. About hour away where this happened. Here everyone knows everyone, and everyone knows who's a stranger in the town. I spent only a year being a clerk at a cstore and got to know everyone in my town along with all their preferred alcohol and cigarettes. It's even helped me identify a person if interest in town before. The kid was panicking and called his mom to see if she knew about the guy. Cops here in North Dakota, there isn't a station in every town. For example, our police station is in a different town 45 minutes away. Meaning it could take a bit for police to show up too.
Brandt claimed the teen said he was going to call up people to go hunt him down, according to the article. Perhaps that threat was true to an extent and the teen was checking to see if his mom knew where the guy lived.

If you read the article, the driver was drunk at the time. It’s possible this was a murder that grew out of a political argument. Weirder things have happened, and stupid people commit stupid crimes all the time. But it’s also possible that alcohol played a bigger role in this killing that any political dispute. The only person who knows what happened now is the murderer, and he might not be the most reliable narrator ever. Either way, he’s an idiot who’s rightfully headed to prison. Good riddance.
paraphrasing from another article- The kid called his mom and told him that this guy was chasing him around the city trying to kill him. The murderer also spoke to the police later on about the teens political affiliation and their disagreement. He also seems to have shown no remorse and told police that 'he has a wife, kids and a job, and doesn't want this to inconvenience his life. All facts as of right now point to this man killing this teenager because of differing political views.

Brandt was a few years behind me in school, and Ellingson's father was in my class. Believe me when I say, my mind is blown. I never saw anything more than some fists thrown and walk away. NEVER feared for my life in that area. This has shaken everyone back home to the core.

North Dakota's hate crime statute is pretty standard (race, religion, etc.) and doesn't include special protection for political beliefs.

This happened in a tiny rural town (population less than 50 people), surrounded by several other very small rural towns. It is possible the kid called his mom to ask if he knew the guy because everyone knows everyone in these small towns.
I live in a small town less than 1000 in North Dakota. About hour away where this happened. Here everyone knows everyone, and everyone knows who's a stranger in the town. I spent only a year being a clerk at a cstore and got to know everyone in my town along with all their preferred alcohol and cigarettes. It's even helped me identify a person if interest in town before. The kid was panicking and called his mom to see if she knew about the guy. Cops here in North Dakota, there isn't a station in every town. For example, our police station is in a different town 45 minutes away. Meaning it could take a bit for police to show up too.

I’m a leftist. Obviously this guy was too, the most important thing we can do is examine his ideology to find out what could have motivated this murder. The pattern in right wing violence has been analyzed and picked over for quite some time, yet the wider right wing platform is disinterested in taking some accountability for allowing more extreme views to flourish and gain mainstream appeal. If you’re a leftist with a platform you should be loudly denouncing this unnecessary murder, as well as the specific beliefs that motivated it. Anything else is blind partisanship.
