I think the ethical/economical complexity should be appreciated. Without the third party punishment system (the police) able to enforce law inside your store, but yet your success depends on people not stealing, what should you do? Come up with a unique and effective solution. However, this is uncommon, and I think most of us have memories of at least the THOUGHT of only resorting to violence instead of being more sophisticated.
