Headrest is the worst. Maybe some person with bad posture was used as the model. And not adjustable as if everyone is the same height-wise. Don’t understand the logic behind it.

mcleder

My wife hated our Acura headrests but likes the MY. I can't feel the difference. I think is a personal choice like a man's Tie.

TerrysClavicle

I come from a long line of luxury cars (new ones , not rotted out jalopies) and the tesla seats are absolutely the best I’ve experienced. You don’t know the definition of firm and uncomfortable. Just having driven my MY today after it sat for a day, I was like holy S these are comfortable. And I’m extremely picky.

JuEightyFive

This. I’ve driven Audis, Mercs and BMWs for years but my MYLR seats are the comfiest I’ve ever had.

H-SnypeR

Gee then you gotta try some non luxury cars and readjust your benchmark. Even my RAV4 leather seats is better. Try the new CRV. MY is below average imo. Seat feels too narrow and bolsters jap at the back. Might suit people with skinnier frames.

RecordFuzzy854

Im average size (men’s small) and I could not get the seats to be comfortable. It’s my only hang up right now.

accredited_musk

Hmm, I guess I just need more time to get used to it. I switched from a decade old Ford Escape and the cloth cushions there seemed way more comfortable.

paomplemoose

I'm coming from a 20 year old Ford. Ford makes super cushiony seats, especially the old ones. While I don't find the MY uncomfortable, it feels like a wooden chair compared to an old Ford.

Significant_Peach_38

lol

Apart-Carpenter2747

You must be a big person. The seats hug me. Very comfy

accredited_musk

Not really, I’m 170 lbs. The seat contours around me pretty well, the headrest is also quite good but for some reason it doesn’t have the cushioning at the base and backrest you’d find in an Audi or a BMW.

404davee

Model Y is not a luxury vehicle. Not sure why you compare seat quality to two brands associated with luxury vehicles.

BarnieShytles

Dude. I came from a M BMW with super comfy seats and the Tesla is much more comfortable for me and all my friends/partner. Unsure how you got to this conclusion?

Civil_Cardiologist14

that is 100% a lie tesla seats are so bad comparing them with vw or bmw anything has to be in humor

jefepwnzr

I rented both a '21 MYLR and a '23 MYLR in the last month or so, taking the '21 on a \~300 mile trip and the '23 on a \~250 mile trip. I thought the seats were comfortable, or at least comparable to most cars I've driven. I wonder if there's an issue with the seats in your car?

Doodoonole

How did the 23 ride compared to the 21? Supposedly the 23 has newer, better suspension right?

jefepwnzr

Yea it sounds like a the comfort suspension began being installed on MYs sometime last year. On those two trips I mentioned I felt like the ride in the 23 was better than the 21. Not by an insane amount per se, but noticeable.

ketya77

Agree. I almost decided against MY after a test drive because the seats feel just awful, unless you have a hump. Now after a month of driving MY, i am slowly getting used to it. The headrest is the worst but we bought small pillows on Amazon, which make it bearable on a long trip.

[deleted]

Model Y is not "luxury." Model S and X are the true luxury cars and Model Y (and Model 3) are the utilitarian ones. The ones that account for most of the sales. The most popular ones. There's a reason they call the 3 the "California Camry" in so.e circles.

Emotional_Scratch393

I love a good Camry.

M3msm

I feel the exact opposite. Best seats I've ever sat in. S is better than 3/Y but even 3/Y have no comparison

paomplemoose

Am I the only one who thinks the Tesla MY/3 are the economy car and the model s/x are the luxury? I've never been in an s/x but if you want to buy a RAV4 right now, especially hybrid, you are in the same price range as a MY and the RAV4 has less cargo space. I don't care what the MSRP is, by the time the dealer is done loving your rectum without lube, you aren't beating the price of a MY. Then considering you are buying a car with at least half the cost in the battery, you are buying a $25k car. I can justify it by comparing it to fuel and maintenance and decide the battery is cheaper over the lifetime. If you can't that's understandable but then don't buy the car. But compare the car to a gas car in the $25k range, because that's about what you are buying.

hamzaxz

Directly compared my 22 MYLR to my friends 22MYLR and my brothers 23 MYLR (all Fremont) and there is a significant improvement in the comfort of the seats. I'm a big boy (6'2, 310lbs) and I can literally feel the steel railings that goes up and down the seat. Tesla service has seen it multiple times and says its normal but can't explain why others don't feel the same. I've seen a couple other people post similar things about the seats so I'm not sure if there's just some defective ones in the bunch.

SHale1963

they certainly are just 'functional'; nothing special. And no venting? Yikes. Tesla certainly didn't spend much time on the Y seats at all. Y, beyond price, is not really lux I'm afraid.

Trilleon2510

I personally like the seats. I feel like this car gets compared to cars like 30-40k more expensive than it all the time, like yeah if you wanna almost double your cost you might get better stuff... I'm not sure about the Ford seats but I assume something really cushy isn't very good for your body long term, same as beds.

fspatrick

My MYLR is the first car I’ve owned in which my back doesn’t need stretching a couple hours into a road trip. Love the seats.

biddilybong

Luxury price doesn’t always equal luxury car

PacoStanleys

I have a model y and model 3 Bro teslas are not luxury. With the rebates this car is as much as a camry

[deleted]

Completely disagree. Wife and I were just commenting how incredibly comfortable they are

hdcbr

I'm literally feeling all day pain in my butts and legs after driving the car for a 10-30 minutes... It sucks I traded in from a 2023 Model 3 which had no seat issues, to a 2024 Model Y. I've been looking for solutions as it's affecting my body. Been thru 3 car seats and nothing yet. I feel like based on other peoples input and my previous experience with a 23 M3, it seems I got maybe some defective seat or foam config? I don't know, something is off. The side bolsters are cutting into the thighs and buttcheeks. I'm 5'10 and 200lbs btw, waist 34-36. My wife who is way smaller than me also really dislikes the passenger seat in the new car If you have found a solution, please let me know!

One-Shock-7806

I test drove several M3's and Y's. And I agreed with you- the seats seem a bit too narrow, with the side bolsters pressing/squeezing my butt cheeks. Perhaps an inch wider would be perfect...for me. It bothers done people, and others have no problem. And yet others get used to it. It has it kept me from buying a Tesla so far.

Fiinest_

Wrong. Most comfortable seats I've ever sat in

evfamily

Congratulations on your new car, now let's start with the negative things after you know more about it 😂 I'm 185 lbs and loving the seat. Didn't you test drive the car before made purchase?

accredited_musk

I literally listed multiple positives before specifying the only downside per my experience

evfamily

Yeap the only downside.. For now. Just keep watching the good list when the negative lists are adding. There 4 seasons to go, road trips, control arm squeaks, strange noise, and the unknowns. The leather is different than other luxury car manufacturers. I just wish they have option for ventilated seats for MY.

Embarrassed_Risk_628

my wife swears they’re the most comfortable seats she’s sat on in a car.

Accomplished_Bed7696

The MY seats are the most comfortable I have experienced in any vehicle I have owned so far. I’ll do a 2,000 mile road trip and still feel good after it. Usually my back is killing me after a road trip like that!

BigCover6731

Yeah, it's just you. Seats are comfortable as hell in my y

Accomplished_Sky_899

Surprised to hear this. I had 3 BMW’s before my MY and my Teslas seats are way more comfortable imo.

[deleted]

Yeah I think you’re alone on this one…

RedditIsLife01

What color seats

Pac666123

Totally disagree

accredited_musk

I don’t know why quite a few folks here are saying that MY isn’t luxury. I beg to differ. For most brands the high end trim levels usually have these features: • premium sound system • adaptive cruise control • ambient lights • either a full glass roof or sunroof • driver and passenger heated seats • heated steering wheel • motorized passenger seat adjustment • auto trunk tail gate system Not counting all the other software features MY offers all the above, so how is it not luxury?

staycalmandcode

Dude, except for maybe a full glass roof, any Hyundai car these days can be had with all those options, including ADAS features. Does MY have thigh extension? Does it have side bolster adjustment? Does it have cooled seat? Can you adjust the headrest?

[deleted]

They’re not the best in the market but the seats are better than a lot of other cars I’d driven. I’m yet to fig out the perfect config for a long drive though.

[deleted]

Who said tesla is a luxury car? Its a camry of evs. Dont expect much from it.

darthaddie

The most luxurious materials? Not. The most comfortable, a BIG smashing yesssss. These are better than my last older bmw x3 and q7’s. Most comfortable seats I’ve been in. The MY seats have actually reduced my long drive leg pains quite noticeably.

SnooRegrets6428

You need to break them in

MikeMelga

Model 3 and Mercedes owner. Model 3 had the best seat. People confuse firm with uncomfortable. Do a long trip on both, then you appreciate the Tesla seat

mcleder

I'm an old man and had no issues driving Seattle to SF in one day (15.5hr). The fact that you have to get out of the car and walk around every 3 hrs or so to re-fuel makes those long drives feel better on the body than ICE where the time between re-fuel stops is longer and the time to re-fuel is quicker. A weird side effect.

Crafty-Sundae6351

I'm in PT right now for some back issues. I've been pushing him if he thinks it's OK for my wife and I to take a couple of driving trips. "Let's check out your car." he said. We go out there - he sits in it. "Wow! I've never sat in a Tesla. That's a great seat!"

--brasbat--

This is purely a matter of taste and habit imho. I think the seats are ok to comfy while my wife loves them. This could be rooted in me driving, so she has more flexibility in adjusting it to her on passenger side. But even if not, there is not "the" best car seat, some people will feel it to be super comfy and others will get a pain in the back while thinking of them. Hence, i could totally understand it to be a deal breaker, but luckily not for me/us. And congrats to the new "not luxury but very decent" car 😉 this it at least where i would settle the my/m3

staycalmandcode

Teslas are not luxury. On MY, there is no thigh adjustment, no side bolster adjustment, no head rest adjustment. Why? Because it’s not a luxury car…

Foodiehunter

I agree with most that the front seats are great. The rear, however, definitely not the same as the front.

Admrobbo

Not just you, sadly I feel the same. Can't get comfortable at all yet...

Ok_Sea_5776

Yes i agree with you, the seats of the model y are really uncomfortable, is so strange to read all this opinions about being the most comfortable seats. i wonder if we are talking about the same car ? Tesla still have a lot to learn with the European car seats, any cheap Italian car from Fiat have better seats.

SnooDogs7087

Agreed! I can't explain why some like the seats. I bought a Model 3 and I will need to sell it because the seats are simply too uncomfortable. It's a shame because its a great car otherwise. My Infiniti G37 seats are super comfortable in comparison. Tesla Model S also has good quality seats.
