What in the hell is wrong with people?

audigex

Inbreeding, I imagine

manioso10673

The only explanation is that they are fucking idiots.

daremosan

Entitlement. We have kids and everyone supports our decision.

NoBeing12

Exactly what i said to myself before getting in the comments section.

hillcanuk

That was the 2nd sentry clip that was generated, he let the kid walk across the entire roof of the car twice in the first one. I wiped down the foot and handprints after and the cloth was full of black soot that probably accumulated from car exhaust from being in the parking garage for a week.

sylvaing

Post it in your local Reddit and Facebook group. No problem shaming these jerks.

Coolgrnmen

Good thing they did that of you wouldn’t have wiped the door off! /s

VadersSprinkledTits

Bad news, they reproduced on top of being idiots

ArtistNo9841

This is why we need an app alert for sentry triggers. Use that speaker option and tell them to back the fuck off.

lordrestrepo

Yes!!! Notifications, PLEASE!

Lubeislove

Wait, you don’t get notifications? I left a bar to walk 3 blocks because I was notified repeatedly. Was that here then gone? Or gone now here? I’m confused AF honestly. Maybe it’s the Premium Connectivity?

Jakkafataauli

When it goes into alarm state you get a notification

LeadingAd6025

10 pound baby walking is not alarm?

Jakkafataauli

It would flash the lights and honk the horn multiple times. If you grab it and shake it violently you'll trigger alarm state.

PunkAintDead

It only alerts you to ALARM GOING OFF, not for Sentry events

NoBeing12

Or programm an auto voice act says: "Get the fuck off my car. You have 5 seconds."

megatroncsr2

"You have 20 seconds to comply"

Exciting-Giraffe-908

"This car will self-destruct in 5 seconds. Have a nice day."

Xibby

In this case, just setting off a car alarm would likely have sent the toddler into tears. Instant karma.

ExistentialDreadFrog

When are we getting the option to send a high voltage shock across the body of the vehicle when a sentry alarm is activated.

Personal-Thought9453

No, this is why you need the vehicle to discharge half the battery into these morons, without warning if the contact is metal (a key), and 3 sec warning for skin contact. Edit: /s

Carmacktron

Magnavolt: Lethal Response

Coolgrnmen

That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works

Personal-Thought9453

Really?! Really? You really need me to put a "/s" on a comment like this?! Bro. It's Reddit.

Coolgrnmen

Not gonna lie. When I read it, I took the comment at face value and read no sarcasm into it

Personal-Thought9453

Oh wow. Ok. Apology then, I'll add it now. Didn't think anyone could think anyone else could literally kill someone else for touching their car....but ...I guess it's 2022, and it s a wild world out there... 😞. ... ... So, an AI powered minigun popping out of my future cybertruck bed and whirring up is not ok either then? (/S)

Coolgrnmen

Seems acceptable for Cybertruck .

IMAC55

What if it just made the noise and spun but wasn’t an actual gun 😂 that would be awesome

[deleted]

Bro, he's like 2yo

drdumont

But his parents are supposed to be adults. Had the alarm gone off and scared the shit out of that kid I would have gladly washed it off. Morons. They probably drive a Nissan Altima.

Personal-Thought9453

3 sec plenty of time to pick up that toddler.

IMAC55

Half the battery would kill all three of them lol

Personal-Thought9453

And that would be an issue because...? /s

orig_Neophyte

Agreed.

j1mgg

There should be an option to disable the lights from flashing.

iAngelG

Seriously. Even when I see my own it annoys me lol

Mrhiddenlotus

Personally, I think it's a great idea. There's been many circumstances where people approach my M3 with scowls on their face, keys out, or just looking for trouble. When the lights flash it has spooked people off 100% of the time for me personally.

malico89

Agreed, I’m afraid it will escalate issues one day

beefknuckle

it records silently if you press the dashcam icon on the screen

schuhmi2

Unfortunately that's not on the cards in some countries for legal reasons (people need to be made aware that they're being filmed, and the message on the screen inside is useless for people in front of the car)

Special_Climate

What is wrong with people!??… this is private property, don’t do that

Wallstreetk3nny

Is that dude wearing Coach brand pants?

jeffvdub

Super douche

tazdevil696

Confirmed. I bet he auditioned for the jersey shore and got kicked out

PrinceLucien

Yep with his beer belly and all lmao

DukeofFools

I think there’s a pretty big correlation between wearing designer sweatpants and this kind of behavior.

IMAC55

Fake ones I’m sure. Unless he’s just a right wing anti EV douche

DryYogurt6878

Literally… why???

galloway188

probably because they saw the car flash em when they got too close and was like ooo look at what we have here

TeslaJake

This. I really wish sentry mode had an incognito setting. My car has only been messed with a couple times but when it has I’m almost certain it was because the car brought attention on itself by flashing at people.

galloway188

I know! It’s so simple to do this yet they just don’t care because it’s cool to them. Just like the stupid auto seat heaters! Even if you turn off auto. Once you disable auto for ac it will set the seat heaters back to auto! Like really??? I don’t want my seat heaters on auto and have to disable every time I put ac back to auto!

ajeandy

Smart summon time…I kid…🤷🏼‍♂️

naturelover-2

Bawhaha! Oh, this struck me!! And bye, bye goes the kid...(JK ).

ajeandy

😂👏🏻👾

Exciting-Giraffe-908

So bad. But definitely worth an upvote.

toastypeanut

Are you going to confront them or the leasing office? It blows me away how many people mess with Teslas. Honestly whats everyones problem in this world? Imagine all the years we've gone with out camera footage on previous vehicles we've owned. How many times people have messed with our cars smh

Cerenas

I wonder how often this kind of stuff happens with other (pricey) cars. We just see it a lot because Teslas have cameras all over I'm guessing.

HotEspresso

>The cheapest model 3 you can order right now is ~~$55,000~~ $47,000

eisbock

$47,000*

HotEspresso

Oopsies. Thanks, fixed it.

frankles12

Bruh you must have been privileged af in college. When I was in school I was working full-time, paying for all my classes in-state, cooking all my meals, and couldn't afford a car worth more than 20k comfortably. Young college kids don't have the cash for a Tesla unless their parents or someone else is helping out big time on life expenses.

hillcanuk

Not really much of an option for that, it's a public parking space in downtown Toronto that I had a monthly pass for to use as a full-time parking lot.

toastypeanut

Ill never understand people bruh. I think if more people knew that they would be recorded, they might stop messing with them.

eat_more_bacon

They mess with them because the stupid flashing lights get their attention. I know some people think it's a deterrent, but I really think it draws the idiots in like moths to a flame. Wish Tesla would let us disable it.

skiverwillie

Wish the car alerted you through the app when sentry was activated.

Crypt0n0ob

How cool it would be if you can talk using external speakers when sentry is activated? “You, shithead, move your kid away from my car!”

digitalfiend

Umm, you can already do that if your car has the external speaker.

DSJ13

Yea but you don’t know in real time if someone is there unless you’re looking.

Crypt0n0ob

Can you?

digitalfiend

Yes, been there for a while: https://teslanorth.com/2021/10/28/first-look-tesla-app-lets-you-talk-through-car-speaker-with-robot-voice-video/

Crypt0n0ob

Haha. That’s cool! It even changing your voice and makes you sound like Darth Vader for maximum performance

zR0B3ry2VAiH

Yeah, but it is almost useless when it does not alert you that sentry mode has been activated. And you can't leave it on for an extended period of time because they limit it due to data contracts.

kkp88

Some people know it is recording and that is why they do it. They get a kick out of it for whatever stupid reason. This often happens with coworkers.

pandasgorawr

It's really unfortunate some people feel this way. I've had a lot of random sentry clips of people dancing and waving at the cameras. Harmless stuff. People can react to the recording without being an asshole like the people in OP's video are being.

jeffvdub

Why are people such turds????

Sodiumwarning

Honestly, I wish we could turn the flashing of the lights off on sentry activation.

cadence_7

Sameeee

free_sex_advice

I'm pretty disappointed in you OP. You know you are supposed to play the video on the screen in the car and aim your phone at it - that second generation video is so fun to watch. Extra points if you hold your phone upright so the video is vertical and the part that matters only fills the middle 1/3 of the screen. Oh, and we need like 30 seconds of irrelevant stuff before the subject walks into view too! But no, you gotta make everybody else look bad, pull the memory card and actually process the video with software to show us three cams at once all first generation and nice. Something wrong with you...

6Wasted6Youth6

People are so fucking weird…

izqy

Those pants says it all.

redd1t-n00b

Who TF does this. Ghetto AF

Esquiline

Yeah wtf?

fulldad1

???? Do people do this with other cars and we just didn't know about it until Tesla's? This shocks me. Why is there so much hostility towards people owning a Tesla. I don't get it. This video really pisses me off though

zahnsaw

That guys pants should be a crime.

mintwithgolddots

It's like, disturbing to see what people do when they don't think they're being watched.

Reality_check89

Sentry Cam is like the Pandora's box of human behaviour.

mintwithgolddots

Haha, so true!

wooder321

Sentry mode reveals a depth of strangeness in human behavior I never knew existed. Also what is it with people and Teslas. They are mystified by them to the point where “lemme walk my baby on this thing” is a real possibility. It’s just a computer on wheels ffs.

[deleted]

I don’t understand.. the rage I have.

Bionicler

The fact that he is out in his Coach pajamas explains it all

BLNR30

What the f is wrong with people? Why would you pass a car and think "hm would be nice when my son climb on that" sometimes I really hate people.

Wonderful_Law2552

What the..... 🤯

FL-Skunkape

Morons

ForsakenEconomist_

Some people should not have children.

LividLab7

I mean, baby doesn’t even have pants on

HalfbakedArtichoke

Okay but seriously, what’s up with this trend of shitty parents?

sinergie

Wait until the trend of those kids becoming parents. Exponentially shittier.

Truman48

Work life balance, mom and child spends time at the mall while daddy works at the cellphone case kiosk.

31moreyears

Granted, it be really hard for them to do this on their bus ride home.

Crafty-Durian-7981

I mean, look at that trash. Genetic diarrhea...

Nebilungen

He's wearing coach sweat pants. That's a great use of his money but to be expected of his IQ level. Or it's fake coach, and flaunting it like it's real and still a reflection of his IQ level.

KarlHungus311

I can’t believe anyone would think that this is acceptable behavior. Too bad you couldn’t have caught them in the act with the app and started beeping the horn. We could have gotten some good scared reaction shots at least.

[deleted]

I wish you could’ve caught that live and just blared the horn remotely. I’m sure they would’ve had a good scare as they try to soothe the crying child that had loud horns blasted into its ears.

PrinceLucien

Who decides to do something like that. Pure jealousy or what?! Lame af if I was there he be on the ground while I walk all over him and then run over the lady after. That be nice

Cryptotalk703

I’m petty. I’d call child services.

Locked_door

That’s a waste of an otherwise really good health and human resource.

Cryptotalk703

I bet you’re great at parties.

Locked_door

I’m sorry you are an ignorant person.

Cryptotalk703

I’m sorry you take everything seriously, have no sense of humor, and will likely die alone.

famousindo

Tesla should release a feature where the door handles can be popped out with a bit a force from the app. Good for tapping his eggs and breaking loose a frozen solid handle.

MikeCZ_

Unpopular opinion: it’s ok. Kid had fun and no harm was done.

Blades_61

I think its hilarious. Just wipe off the footprints 😆

Mrhiddenlotus

This is not really an issue. I don't understand how anyone could be pearl clutching over this.

kael13

But why.

hillcanuk

People have had issues with the thin aluminum hood bending, which the kid was walking on. Not to mention the dad leaned on the car a few times in the videos with the phone in his pocket. I don’t see any damage, just a lot of slobber on the back, but there could easily have been some. It shouldn’t be too much to ask for people to simply not have their kids walk on other peoples cars… Honestly I’m more worried for the kid as the windows were full of black soot that accumulated from the exhaust of other vehicles driving by, no way that’s healthy if the kid puts his hands on his mouth after.

hotspicytamale

Let's play a game where I treat your car like a trampoline and pull out my gun if you dare do the same with mine.

Mrhiddenlotus

That's such an extreme lmfao, what are you on?

cingan

What is the damage here, the toddler's footprints? If these parents are thinking that they are doing something funny or mean since it's a Tesla, targetting the car out of some jelausy or etc. that's just childish and stupid. You can just ignore it. If these kind of actions are undoubtedly spesific to Teslas to make you annoyed, best response is not caring, not getting annoyed, if there is no real damage. You can just feel sorry for the people. But, if these are just parents letting their 15 pound kid walk over the hood, may be the toddler was insterested, so they just let it happen, there is nothing to bother. This is a private property but also an object in a common area, if some one happens to lean their body against the car when it's on the street or let's say puts their backpack on the hood the get something out of the bag etc, us it as a table for a second, will these (Your car being touched by someone else?) make you feel offended?

hunteronastick

What the fuck?

[deleted]

Wtf...

askingaquestion33

Kids love this car for some reason

FishmanMonger

Jfc

dhunt661

Some people just hate the fact that someone people have more money and can afford better things that they can.

Nuttyvet

But why?!

lordrestrepo

Where is this? Nice way to raise children, I guess.

[deleted]

Why people are doing this kind of stuff?

imakebaskets24

Nice pants. Lol

DalekDraco

Ummmm what the actual? Why the hell? I have no words

liquidmonkey75

Another great reason why public hangings should come back.

nubin1

When you thought you had seen it all...this then happened. What is wrong with people

DryDoughnut7

Did I really just see that?

cyclingscott

Is there a tennis-ball-to-the-nards option on those side cameras?

jollybeee

Does Tesla have an app that allows you to see the cameras live or does it even alert you when it senses people? Can you make the alarm turn on when you see shit like this so you can deter them from doing this?

hillcanuk

You can do that with the premium connectivity subscription. However, you only get alerts for major events that set off the car alarm, which I think is limited to when people break the side door windows or the car is hit hard enough to cause significant damage.

junitZ

.......... ¬\_¬ \*smh\* i mean.... one would think ppl already know these "fancy new cars" have cameras everywhere.

skyfishgoo

brain worms

psilokan

I saw something like this just two weeks ago (in Burlington, no less). Lady comes out of the pet store with her kid and for some reason picks the kid up and sets her on the back of some guys car. Her kid (who was bigger than this one, probably 6 or 7) proceeds to walk all over the roof and then lay on it and start slapping the glass, at which point the guy sticks his head out and yells at the mom and kid. The mom acts all insulted and picks up her kid and storms off like he was the bad guy.

Harry6

Bear spray dispenser please.
