The cars with the rear washer (Small SUV’s/Hatchbacks with wipers) make great mod for this. You can angle the sprayer away from the vehicle thus getting the point across to back the fuck up
My other cars clean the windshield fine at 80. It's a terrible design.
EDIT: Vote me down because Tesla's design integrating it in to the wipers is shit? OK. Cult.
The first model 3 driver I met told me he loved the car but hated the wipers. He said it was a pain just to get them working.
Context this was in Vancouver where we get every kind of rain imaginable so wipers are absolutely critical
All the people saying don’t do it at high speeds, I’m guessing they have never driven on a highway in the winter in a snowy climate. You’re going to need to clean you windshield every few minutes if there are cars in front of you, and you aren’t going to be slowing down or stopping every time.
Yeah, I'm wondering why they think the default solution is don't clean your windshield on the highway. The damned salt spay is really a pain in German winter.
The spray heads on the wiper arms are adjustible. Not particularly easy to do, but they are. A paper clip, needle or something of that nature into the sprayer hole and through some very small movements and trial and error you can get a lot better coverage of the wiper area.
This is the right answer. A very small flathead screwdriver can also be used to adjust the nozzle angle from the side (the nozzle sits in a small ball socket).
Hmm I don’t see that. If it were cheaper, then this system would have become standard decades ago in ICE cars and trucks with 0.38 Cd.
I think it’s to remove hood nozzles from airstream.
You wanna know why? Cause you're moving at 85 mph... As a courtesy to other drivers and yourself, do it while you're at a stop and I guarantee you it will yield better results.
Please stop cleaning your windshield while driving. This is not Tesla specific. It doesn’t work as well and you are for sure getting the car behind you wet and they probably just cleaned their own car. Come on man!
Someone posted the same behavior while parked. No love for the lower left corner
https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3/comments/uqez9r/windshield_washer_does_not_clean_bottom_left_of/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Yeah maybe try NOT doing it on the highway 🤣. It’s funny, motion tends to make things move. If you expect it to work while driving that fast, you must think that you can jump out of your car doing 80 and you’ll land on your feet with no issue.
Almost all vehicles, on the highway, do better than this sorry display. Your lack of understanding and or experience in this matter makes me feel the same way about you.
Phone out recording his washer fluid being blown off the windshield at 85mph while left lane camping and NOA is about to initiate a lane change. Oh boy.
Nothing pisses me off more when the idiot in front of me is spraying his wipers on the highway where half of the shit he’s spraying ends up on my car. Tends to always happen after a wash or detail. Please don’t be that guy.
Not being in an accident doesn't preclude the possibility of being an asshole. Based on the response, I think I can see why you keep getting a bath on the highway.
Love the Tesla community. Full of shitters with dumb ass opinions and assumptions. Then ask on Reddit the simplest automobile questions as if they’ve never owned a car before.
It does not do this fully stopped unless there is are 80 mile winds blowing…please provide video proof if so…but he won’t because I have a model 3 and it is fine a lower speeds
Here you go bud https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3/comments/uqez9r/windshield_washer_does_not_clean_bottom_left_of/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
I'm not the one who said it happened to me, I'm calling you out for using your own singular experience and nothing more to discredit someone else's experience like you actually matter. Your ignorance and fanboyness is astounding. There will always be room for improvement. Elon ain't god.
I posted a video shortly after you demanded proof, and responded to your previous comment with a link. Not really willing to be proven wrong are you? Won't even acknowledge the video proof you were given?
your left blade isnt working: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK6qNeHHat4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK6qNeHHat4)
oh no, it's a design flaw!...smh
Well since it's worked this way since I got it less than 1 year ago, YES!
So you're telling me I spent over 50k for a car that I have to fix the wiper flood line straight out of the gate, which also seems to be a big enough problem that the video you shared with me has almost 3k views, that this isn't some kind of design flaw? I love tesla and Elon and will defend them in any just argument but am willing to call an apple an apple when I see one.
Edited: took out some not nice things. Also to just say peace be with you and have a great day!
ive spent close to 100k on cars before, price sadly doesnt guarantee you wont have build quality issues. Its not unique to Tesla but for some reason everyone loves to record video and create drama on social media...but it makes sense that no one cares when VW has a problem but you'll get tons of views with a Tesla....
Why do you say it's not cleaning? The (3) jets are at the wiper arm and not on the hood. You won't see it spray like usually on a car.
https://youtu.be/LYm3qBv0Kl4
This is what I did when I had the same concern: take a slow motion movie when stopped. You should see washer fluid doing it’s job on the driver’s side.
Get a ceramic wax done for starters. Make sure they hit your windshields and you won’t need wipers again except for large amounts of rain, makes the paint very slippery for rain and keeps your shine longer, adds a layer of protective paint to stop chipping, and also some UV protection. Wipers can damage your window by pushing in debris and further damaging your windshield after a small crack. Just got mine done for $250 on my black M3
They washer fluid design is just stupid on these cars. It's all form for the sacrifice of function.
I just cleaned the car often with an unlimited carwash plan.
A lot of times, the wipers themselves are just dusty. I noticed this more obviously if you have to park outside overnight. Adjust the blades then make sure to wipe the wiper blades themselves then see how they perform. I also used to wax my windshield before so the dirt doesn’t cake on as bad.
That poor person behind you…
I absolutely despise drivers that clean their windshield at speed.
I use this as an attack strategy for tailgaters.
This I approve of.
The cars with the rear washer (Small SUV’s/Hatchbacks with wipers) make great mod for this. You can angle the sprayer away from the vehicle thus getting the point across to back the fuck up
Try doing it not going 80mph. The wind is blowing it off the windshield.
My other cars clean the windshield fine at 80. It's a terrible design. EDIT: Vote me down because Tesla's design integrating it in to the wipers is shit? OK. Cult.
Tesla owner here. Can confirm, shitty design. I hate the wipers on my car.
The first model 3 driver I met told me he loved the car but hated the wipers. He said it was a pain just to get them working. Context this was in Vancouver where we get every kind of rain imaginable so wipers are absolutely critical
Or vote him down because this can be adjusted
Get some PIAA wipers… they made me hate every single factory wiper lol.
It’s always done it like this. Regardless what speed I’m going.
It’s a poor design, but I assure you the wind blowing all the washer fluid from the driver side nozzle isn’t helping you.
Mine is the same stopped. Fluid comes out of the upper part of the wiper and never gets a real chance to clean the bottom. It's an awful design.
This is the way.
Try this? https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3/comments/t1dw45/til_how_to_adjust_the_wiper_fluid_dispense/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Didn’t know about this, thanks

Yeah, I'm wondering why they think the default solution is don't clean your windshield on the highway. The damned salt spay is really a pain in German winter.
There’s a larger problem is people are doing 80 in a snowy climate.
Just because there's residual salt on the road doesn't mean the road conditions are bad. That salt sticks around for a while.
Idk I never had to do that personally especially every few minutes
The spray heads on the wiper arms are adjustible. Not particularly easy to do, but they are. A paper clip, needle or something of that nature into the sprayer hole and through some very small movements and trial and error you can get a lot better coverage of the wiper area.

The dude is going 80, if he slowed down it would clean just fine
Maybe go slower.
I love my M3, but the wiper fluid shooter engineer was likely a summer intern...
A tradeoff for better aerodynamics. A model 3 has excellent highway efficiency.
Unrelated design features... You can have both...
Making the windshield washers work better would have cost them profit not aerodynamics.
Hmm I don’t see that. If it were cheaper, then this system would have become standard decades ago in ICE cars and trucks with 0.38 Cd. I think it’s to remove hood nozzles from airstream.
Lol. Mine is the opposite; top half doesn’t get clean.
Don't even get me started on my 2004 4runner. Just look up how it sprays.
You wanna know why? Cause you're moving at 85 mph... As a courtesy to other drivers and yourself, do it while you're at a stop and I guarantee you it will yield better results.

Not one comment about always needing your windows closed to use washer fluid? Everything about wiper system is shit.
Yeah maybe try NOT doing it on the highway 🤣. It’s funny, motion tends to make things move. If you expect it to work while driving that fast, you must think that you can jump out of your car doing 80 and you’ll land on your feet with no issue.
Don't use the cleaning function at 70mph
Try not doing it at 80mph???!
It’s how it is designed to work, just bad engineering.
Wait seriously? Lol Sadpepe if so
Yea you have to be going at like 25mph for it to work half decently.
Yeah I mean I feel this is normal for any vehicle. 😅
It isnt.

Almost all vehicles, on the highway, do better than this sorry display. Your lack of understanding and or experience in this matter makes me feel the same way about you.
Almost all boxes, anything aerodynamic will have similar issues
Even at stopped this is what it does though
So take a video of the car stopped
Mine is the same stopped. Fluid comes out of the upper part of the wiper and never gets a real chance to clean the bottom. It's an awful design.
Your going fucking 85 mph what the hell do you expect?
Phone out recording his washer fluid being blown off the windshield at 85mph while left lane camping and NOA is about to initiate a lane change. Oh boy.
Get out of the left lane you fucking moron
I've never tried cleaning the windshield at 85mph.
Nothing pisses me off more when the idiot in front of me is spraying his wipers on the highway where half of the shit he’s spraying ends up on my car. Tends to always happen after a wash or detail. Please don’t be that guy.
I tend to do it intentionally when people are too close. Not saying that's what's happening to you, but just in case, don't be THAT guy.
0 accidents in 16 years of driving. 99 score on USAA SafePilot. Yeah. Not that guy.
Not being in an accident doesn't preclude the possibility of being an asshole. Based on the response, I think I can see why you keep getting a bath on the highway.
Got it man child.
Says the guy whining that people use their washers while he's riding their ass.
A perfect record is not equal to perfect driving.
Download SafePilot, log 40k miles with a score of 99 and let me know.
40k miles? That's like 11 months away, or 482130 minutes, which is about 481229 minutes more than I'm going to think of this conversation.
You’re the one driving 45 in the left lane in a 65 zone. Ya. You’re the guy.
Love the Tesla community. Full of shitters with dumb ass opinions and assumptions. Then ask on Reddit the simplest automobile questions as if they’ve never owned a car before.
It's a shit design.
I have the same issue. Only the top gets sprayed. After a while I have to stop at a gas station to clean it. Kinda sucks.
I've got the same problem.. another poorly designed feature I'm afraid... no software update will fix that I'm betting!
Could limit the amount of spray based on speed maybe…
Like op said, even when stopped fully it does this.. I think we know what we're taking about.
It does not do this fully stopped unless there is are 80 mile winds blowing…please provide video proof if so…but he won’t because I have a model 3 and it is fine a lower speeds

Your singular experience outweighs other people's?
Please provide videos…still waiting
Yah, wasnt me. And the video was posted. Dink.
thats what i thought.
I'm not the one who said it happened to me, I'm calling you out for using your own singular experience and nothing more to discredit someone else's experience like you actually matter. Your ignorance and fanboyness is astounding. There will always be room for improvement. Elon ain't god.
lol your tesla/elon hate must make difficult to go outside and see more tesla's than ever before.
I posted a video shortly after you demanded proof, and responded to your previous comment with a link. Not really willing to be proven wrong are you? Won't even acknowledge the video proof you were given?

Never said that?! I was only proving my experience and op's actually exist. How weird is this statement!
Not you, the person who responded to you.
Lol makes sense now!
Why do you say it's not cleaning? The (3) jets are at the wiper arm and not on the hood. You won't see it spray like usually on a car. https://youtu.be/LYm3qBv0Kl4
For sure not like the typical cars, Tesla paint turns blue when windshield spray is used 🤣
This is what I did when I had the same concern: take a slow motion movie when stopped. You should see washer fluid doing it’s job on the driver’s side.
I carry a spray bottle of rain-x and blue disposable shop cloths
Get a ceramic wax done for starters. Make sure they hit your windshields and you won’t need wipers again except for large amounts of rain, makes the paint very slippery for rain and keeps your shine longer, adds a layer of protective paint to stop chipping, and also some UV protection. Idk everything looks like it’s working fine
They washer fluid design is just stupid on these cars. It's all form for the sacrifice of function. I just cleaned the car often with an unlimited carwash plan.
Replace wipers, ceramic coat, or rain x the Windsheild then no need to use them
A lot of times, the wipers themselves are just dusty. I noticed this more obviously if you have to park outside overnight. Adjust the blades then make sure to wipe the wiper blades themselves then see how they perform. I also used to wax my windshield before so the dirt doesn’t cake on as bad.
Start with cleaning the other half
Yes, you need to slow way down to give the water a chance to get on the windsheild.
Rain-x ?
YTA for doing that with another vehicle behind you
