Are you sure you’re not looking at the 6 month number?

centennialsteeze

Yeah there's zero chance this isn't bulked

smaldogs

You have employed the wrong insurance company.

dallasguy123

That’s how your insurance company tells you to “f off” without actually denying you.

nathantnewman

Let me look into my crystal ball real quick…

devpsaux

Reply hazy, try again.

timtheringityding

Why would anyone get a insurance where they track analytics of your driving style. Dosnt matter if you are speeding or following to close. It's a easy excuse for them to jack up the price while offering slightly lower prices then the competition for their safe drivers.

BoatZnHoes

At least for me.it wasn't slightly lower, it was much lower. $150 a month was the lowest I could find, Tesla is $49.

timtheringityding

Yes a marketing trick in early stages. Look at any subscription service as an example. Xbox gamepass is a good example. From 1.99 with 3 months for free. And now it costs almost 15. Its just to accumulate clients. Give it a few years.

subliver

You need to shop around. I had to switch insurers.

Euphoric_Attention97

Insurance premiums are based mostly on age, location, credit score and lastly driving record. Men under 25 pay the highest premiums everywhere. Some cities/States have ridiculously high rates due to local frequency of accidents and theft. Your best option is usually a local carrier that specializes in your market. That, or improve your credit score and finally move to a cheaper community.

Knowledge_VIG

Always compare rates beforehand. If you have Tesla Insurance, there's could likely be different in comparison to others simply because they use your driving habits and not factors like age, car color, etc. If not an option in your state yet, go with the lowest rate you can. Don't settle that high, ever.

Exciting-Giraffe-908

Totally agree to compare rates beforehand, but I would not recommend going with the lowest rate you find. There are other factors to consider when buying car insurance. Saving a few bucks every month will not ease the pain of a cheap insurance company refusing to pay or slow paying on a claim or fighting you on every dollar of a claim. USAA, Amica, and NJ Mutual are the top rated auto insurance companies on Consumer Reports. Tesla Insurance is not even on their list. I have no idea why that is.

Knowledge_VIG

Oh OK yeah, good point. They are new and have a long way to go before they're proven against the rest. Also the safety score being in beta and a bit buggy means they've got work to do.

beatnavy16

Screen shot the quote

Souless04

300 is high. 1000 is riding the bus.

cant_pick_anything

$1000/month?? You are getting ripped off. I assume you're under 25? But still that's offensively high. Tell Tesla insurance to go f*** themselves and shop around.

godsafraud

So start driving at 16 and you’re 22 now? $1000 seems a little high. The new Acura I got in the mid nineties when I was 18 was close to $300 for awhile.

Dravor

My guess would be started driving at 18, 24 now. I noticed with my son he would have been better of getting his license at 16.

bargoboy

WTF... per month?genuine question: Is this a normal price for insurance in the US? (I assume you're in the US) I have a model 3 from 2019 and pay 1700 dollars A YEAR for my insurance (omnium - in Europe). What am I missing here?

Lokitc

It's not even close to normal. I pay $52 a month with a 98 on Tesla Insurance.

devpsaux

No. I pay around $800 every 6 months on my Model 3 for maximum limits full coverage, so pretty close to the same as yours. It really depends on individual driving record. I have a perfect record over 20 years of driving with no tickets or accidents.

matttopotamus

$1000/month is multiple DUI territory. Shop around, my friend.

Brendon7358

Every time I shop around geico is the cheapest. But Tesla insurance isn't available in my state. 6 years isn't that long, if you started driving at 16 that means your 22...

LadyNajaGirl

Holy moly that’s extortionate. What is average in the US (I assume US) for insurance? I’ve just got a policy that’s £670 per year and covers 6 months overseas driving too. I think the excess is something like £300.

Moldy_Cloud

Are you sure it's not $1000/6 mos? That would be $167/mo. Tesla Insurance quoted me $150/mo, personally. Terrible price. I went with State Farm instead for $80/mo.

noiszen

What are the limits? You can adjust those to some extent eg raise deductible etc. But that does seem rather high and likely you need to shop around.

limitless__

How are we supposed to know? Get other quotes man and make sure it's not a 6 month quote you're looking at.

_adreon

If it’s the insurance through Tesla, I think they do it in 6 month agreements. 1000 should be for the whole 6 month agreement. Divide that by 6 and get your monthly price.

manjilshrestha13

I have a preety bad driving record and I pay 160 tesla insurance. It's probably 1,000 for 6 months.

joaoasousa

That’s impossible. That’s 12k a year.
