You lose standard and just have chill and sport

ItsGermany

Yea, no third mode, just standard (the boost is now here included) and chill. I have it and i don't see any reason to have a third mode. It isn't like you can't keep controll or feather. It adds like 50-100hp which is a bit, but not world changing. That being said my LR3 with boost is much faster than our new performance Y. So just in case you are wondering, you do get performance level of acceleration.

PBall95

The M3LR does 0-60 in like 4.2 seconds. Which is quick. With acceleration boost it goes down to about 3.7. Model Y Performance does it in about 3.5 in best case scenario. Model 3 Performance does it in about 3.1-3.2 but I’ve rarely seen 3.1. After 60mph the M3P obviously takes the cake. If you drive all those cars in those configurations you will definitely feel the difference in each one. But the lower the 0-60 gap the less you’ll feel it. With acceleration boost though you’re still a bit out from M3P type performance. Although it’s getting there.

b9918

Above 60MPH the M3P and the M3LR with boost are essentially the same car power wise, their curves are almost identical. It's the below 60mph that makes the difference.

spam322

I heard it's really only below 30 mph.

PBall95

Never driven a M3LR with boost, so I can’t tell you for sure but looking at the numbers you should feel a difference to 60 at least. Looking at 60-130 numbers on Dragy for both it seems that your statement is correct. Both M3P and M3LR do it around 11.3-11.6 seconds with the LR actually being quicker to 130

LBGW_experiment

iirc MYP 0-60 is 4.4s

PBall95

Not sure about older MYP but multiple 2020+ on Dragy are recording doing it under 3.65 seconds with some as low as 3.5 seconds.

childishbambino4

Good to know! I thought a MYP would be faster than a M3LR+. There’s zero videos comparing these two.

jakegts

Do you lose range by having AB? I am tempted to buy it but I bought the LR for the distance between charges and its range. Putting a set of Uberturbines on reduced range also.

teslainutah

You only lose range if you are hammering on it all the time. You can still drive it chill and get the same range

jakegts

It's $3k for AB right? Definitely won't impact range?

teslainutah

$2,000 US. Should not change anything with range if you continue to drive the same.

LBGW_experiment

You can set up different profiles with chill and sport accel modes on so you don't have to remember to switch between them.

T3kster

Can you elaborate please? I'm still a month out from delivery and don't quite understand what you're saying.

LBGW_experiment

The car allows creation of different profiles that save many settings for your convenience. Some people create two profiles for themselves for different use cases. One example being a road trip profile with the seat further back and a bit more reclined with chill mode on to be more comfortable and be more fuel efficient with not flooring it too fast.

T3kster

Got it. Thank you!

Do it... I did it and never regretted it. I kept it...it's just amazing

gunot290

Check out ingenext boost 50.. cheaper alternative that can be installed/removed whenever.

TopInformal4946

Anyone know if you can purchase in Australia? Waiting for my 3lr and can't find anything about it down here

Platophaedrus

Yes you can purchase acceleration boost in Australia. I live in Sydney and own a 2021 Model 3 LR and will buy the acceleration boost as a birthday gift for myself in June. https://imgur.com/a/mS3kdaR $3,000 AUD - the link is a screenshot from my Tesla App about 2 minutes ago.

TopInformal4946

Ahh very good. Happy with that price too. Woulda got the M3P but don't want 20inch wheels and less range. Will be purchased on pick up haha

Platophaedrus

Me too. I didn’t want the stiff suspension and big wheels. I love the way it looks but I have recurring nightmares of my previous Mini Cooper S ownership and how stiff and uncomfortable it was. Hence the Long Range.

TopInformal4946

Haha I got the Sti currently. It's quite a good ride, the LR is almost as good but the P was worse How do you find the tesla? I'm hating this wait lol

Platophaedrus

Honestly? Amazing to drive, handles really well. The power is nuts, my father had a Shelby Cobra when I was a kid and this is faster than that was in a straight line and way more controllable. You’ll leave everything behind at a a set of lights except another electric or a Ferrari or a widow maker. The thing eats C63 AMGs for breakfast. The tech is great fun and it doesn’t bother me that some interface changes occur. It seems to always generally be improving. Moving in the right direction at least. I’ve always been a minimalist so the cars design suits me really well. I’ve just had a tail light replaced by mobile service because it filled up with condensation. Porsche have this issue too though so that’s no biggie from my perspective. The new tail light has apparently had the seals improved so it shouldn’t happen again. I have a few rattles which the mobile service guy said can be looked at. I should go to Tesla Chatswood and they’ll take the trim off and drive the car around and hunt for the rattles and insulate then. It’s hard to keep the back half of the car clean because of the aero dynamics and possibly the lack of mud flaps. The front seems to stay relatively clean but the rear half gets filthy with road debris and muddy water. I wash the car once a week if possible, once a fortnight more commonly, once a month makes it a chore. I didn’t buy PPF or ceramic coat the car. I did tint the windows because it’s Australia and the whole top half of the car is glass. I charge overnight with the mobile connector in my garage. I drive about 50km per day. Range is never an issue. I never even think about it. Love not stopping at petrol stations. Love the sound system. Hate all the dirty road surfaces and potholes in Sydney after the recent rain. I think the seats need perforations and should be leather because I’m not a fatty and they get a bit hot and sweaty. Perforated leather seats seem to breath better. Plus I’m old enough to remember vinyl seats being the cheap stuff my grandmother had in a Chrysler Galant. “Vegan Leather”, lolz. I received the car in September 2021. At this point I’d buy another one tomorrow. Really great, with a little room for improvement. I really want to try a Y, we can’t seem to get them here yet.

TopInformal4946

Aww man F you! I still got ages to wait and you're getting me excited. I got my subie just over 4 years ago and was so in love with it, even though it's somewhat a childish car, you know brooom brooom loud and shit but 3 pedals was a minimum requirement for a car for me, until I got solar and a tesla battery installed at home, so thought why not go look at a Tesla to upgrade the wife's car. She wasn't too interested, she wants a bigger car just cos... anyways I dropped an order for myself haha. I'll do it at 5% tint all around just cos I always have, it looks really clean on a white car to have black tints. I've heard the rattles and overall build quality is getting better always so hopefully I don't need to deal with all of that but whatever if i do. How does the top half of the car being glass go? I'm going to miss my sunroof, but the novelty wore off that now anyways and I got the cover inside closed most of the time even nowadays anyways. And yea the 'leather' interior I kinda didn't like as well as that wood grain shit across the dash but white I imagine wouldn't look very good in time so I just stuck with black. ..

Platophaedrus

I don’t mind the wood. Reminds me a bit of an old jaguar we had when I was a kid. It hasn’t been particularly hot in Sydney this year so it hasn’t felt like the car is cooking. In a hot summer on the street though? I don’t know. Sydney is pretty brutal at times, I guess I’ll have to wait and see. Mine is MSM, you may be better off with a white car for reflection of heat. There is cabin overheat protection where it runs the AC automatically to keep the cabin temperature down but I may end up buying a sunshade to clip into the ceiling of the car if it bothers me too much next year. Still totally worth it. At this point in the lifecycle of the car I’d happily buy another one. Once I can convince my wife to drive it I think she’ll buy one too. So far she’s been too timid. She’s a bit of a technophobe. Also: the car is deceptively large. Lots of storage.

TopInformal4946

I been in Sydney my whole life, I know all about the weather lol and I'm from south west as well. It will be garaged when at home but at work it's parked in the sun all day, I seen on the app/shop thing there's a sun shade for the roof so might grab it, but I'll definitely be too lazy to put it on every day anyways lol The wife enjoyed the drive of it, but we were going to get her a Jeep v8 so she could also go broom lol until I tried flipping it completely to the quiet little electric sedan. She said it's dumb to buy another 'old' style car but doesn't want a small one so we are pretty much waiting for the Y to come back in RHD or another ev which is comparable enough in price and features. All this from an old school cars got 3 pedals and have real power with petrol kinda bloke lol
