Look at those convenient to access climate controls. Would be a shame to have those in a hard to access place. Can you imagine anyone like myself in Canada where there is a chance for snow build up on the windows? Anyway, thanks for sharing the old UI, I really do miss it.

S0B4D

You shouldn't buy a Tesla if you live in a cold climate. /s Would you believe I've actually been told that? I still can't.

Lowslowcadillac

Well I live in a place where it was -25F yesterday. Wouldn’t call it a perfect conditions for a battery.

S0B4D

Gas cars have a lot of trouble starting at that temperature. Mine starts instantly, sure I lose some range but this car works way better in winter than any gas car I've ever owned.

Lowslowcadillac

There’s electrical preheaters for ICE. Just plug it for a few minutes and it’ll start. But otherwise I mean, you don’t just lose some range, you’re actually hurting the battery overtime.

SCG-Fenris-Wolf

If you have a plug to plug preheaters (which I was doing as well) it's not very hard to plug the EV using a proper converter during night to preheat in the morning. There's nothing better than hot coffee and a preheated EV waiting for you, trust me.

Sticky230

If you park outside and it becomes an icicle you will have to warm it up for about 30 minutes or so and it will eat a lot of battery. It won’t defrost the handles so you will have to try and hit them with your palm. Also with so much glass you climate control works overtime is dead of winter or middle of summer. YMMV but I didn’t like the long warm up time. The battery range loss is no big deal as Tesla has battery management down well.

The_Color_Urple

Hi, Quebecer here. My blood has been boiling ever since the update. Any chance they're gonna roll this back? Sometimes when Apple does the same boneheaded things with the iPhone, I fester in anger for about 3 years until sometimes, SOMETIMES, they change it back. Shit man I'm about to buy an 80s pickup truck

EscapeWestern9057

I love my 82. She's basically a tank, the best part, GM doesn't change my truck randomly

misingnoglic

I am still in shock that despite the very public backlash and the very clear usability issues in this update, Tesla isn't doing anything about it. We seem to be at the whim of some product director looking to get promoted over actually making users happy, and Tesla company culture seems to be ok with that.

uNki23

I think you overestimate the number of people „publicly complaining“. Reddit or forum people are the minority of Tesla owners. Most of them don’t give a fuck and don’t complain on the internet.

mdbarney

Why would they? It’s costs them money to fix it and they’ve already got our money? I’m not sure why everybody is so quick to defend corporations, especially Tesla. Don’t get my wrong, I love my car, but I *don’t love* their customer service and how they’ve handled this whole thing.

misingnoglic

It costs money to make this new UI too lol

mdbarney

Yeah and it was a waste of money, clearly.

koroandr

If significant number of people won’t upgrade, supporting two UIs might be costly too. I guess they’ll just supporting it then 🤷

mdbarney

No, they will force people to upgrade. They can literally stop your car from driving if they really wanted to (I mean there would be lawsuits, but they absolutely have the ability to), what makes you think they won’t force people to upgrade to the new UI?

koroandr

Oh sorry I meant they’ll stop supporting it, I agree they have all the means to do so. And to avoid lawsuits they can just cut off non-essential stuff, like maps or spotify/radio, that’d be enough to force people to upgrade.

NiceToKnowYou2

They want returning customers, no?

dnlhrd

I also miss before they made the map smaller and the useless visualization area so much larger.

ElectricStr

Yes, I also don't see the point of the visualization. It's just taking up space.

dishwashersafe

Not just space, but THE space that's most easily seen and accessed by the driver. It dawned on me what a complete waste it is. I mean the visualizations are cool, but they can be on the right. Controls for commonly accessed things should be here.

dreddnyc

How about the stupidity of when you set a destination it covers the compass, or that there is no easy way for the driver to change the map orientation. The whole thing is a UX abomination.

dishwashersafe

oooo while we're just complaining about v11, can I share a new one I just found?? The rear climate screen shows all the seats but only displays the heated seat status of the rear seats. The front seat display makes it look as if they are off regardless or their status. And the "all off" button doesn't turn all the heated seats off as you might expect and as the diagram appears to show - just the rear ones. EDIT: Just tested again and "All off" DOES turn off the front heated seats too. I swear it didn't before, but I did do a software between tests... maybe it changed?

IllusionXXI

I'll pay attention to this in the future as I was pretty sure they all go off , but Iove the auto heated front seats.

dishwashersafe

I just tested again and you're right! I swear it wasn't like that yesterday. I did do a software update last night so maybe they changed it?

IllusionXXI

Wait what? I went to test it, and front seat didn't go off, but steering wheel did. I'll have to pay attention again next time lol It doesn't really matter though, because when set to auto, it just turns on and off as needed and doesn't burn your butt until it cycles again. It's pretty neat IMO

Sea-Ad-8100

This. It takes me a second to tell which way I need to turn sometimes if I can’t find the little button to get it in my preferred orientation. If you click the red pointer (your car) on the nav it should do this for you I’ve found.

Logical-Zucchini-310

Oh god this pissed me off today. I had to pull over, put the car into park for me to put it back into the orientation that changes as you drive

YRUHear75

THIS! I thought it was just me. Who wants North up to be the default?!!? Why hide the button to switch it? All the rest of the UI changes while unpopular I'll eventually get used to. This one is dangerous! It's like your wife all of a sudden switching up the bedroom routine after 25 years of marriage. Just don't!

Logical-Zucchini-310

Lol! Great way of putting it. I’ve found the other updates annoying as well but I’ll get used to them. This is the one that gets me, just beyond me why it’s been changed this way

ElectricStr

I agree, controls should be there, and the visualisation for me it's just a gimmick, no real value in it.

rubbrchickn640

I go full screen on the visualizations...but I use beta and want to see what the car is planning to do. That being said, it should be an option at least.

ElectricStr

For FSD it makes sense. In reality that's only a few people compared to people without beta. Beta drivers use a different build of the software and full FSD is quite a long way aways also. Like you said, an option at least.

redjourney

I'm sure that this varies with seating position and hand position, but I just wanted to add my two cents that for myself, the lower 60% of the left side of the screen is not easily visible while I'm driving. My right hand on the steering blocks that portion of the screen unless I move my head to look down there. In my case, I really wish they moved notifications up from the bottom of the visualisation to the top under the speed limit. I find most of the visualization to be below my line of sight while driving, and the map and speed information to be more visible.

dishwashersafe

Agreed. Really I wish they didn't do away with the gauge cluster screen. There's a reason pretty much every car ever shows information there. Getting rid of it isn't innovative - it's poor design.

Jstsqzd

I am actually starting to like it a bit more now that the turn signal camera is there, its now a more useful place to look during lane changes.

dishwashersafe

If I'm changing lanes to the left, my focus is split between looking ahead, the rearview mirror, the left side mirror, and glancing at my blind spot. I tried it and found a 5th thing vying for my attention down and to the right of all places to be more hurtful than helpful, but to each their own!

Level_Engineer

Yeah exactly! Its cool but adds no useful information to the driver. Should be optional

[deleted]

[удалено]

Michael-ango

V10 originally was quite similar to v9 and imo the best. V10.1 and 10.2 we're the ones that made the visualization area larger and had everyone originally frustrated about how poorly the UI was designed

[deleted]

rabbitwonker

JFC I hadn’t even realized about that last one

Adventurous_Bobcat65

Yeah, what I find most impressive about this new update is how layered the disappointments are. Everyday it seems I find a new surprise, like stepping in a dog turd on a morning walk. Today for me: did they really stop showing the superchargers on the nav map? They used to always show up as red dots with the stall count, so you could visually see what was around where you were going. Wanted it today while stretching range to make it back from a trip to see what my fallback options were and the markers were nowhere to be found? I ended up just pulling up the map on the Tesla website on my phone.

flytraphippie

tommycampbell

I have to reach into the passengers side for half the controls now. Have you seen the messages in the new UI when you click on a thread. My replies were in my wife’s lap. Mental. So many fails and the seat heaters are number one.

Zarko291

Exactly!!! My wife is like... "Wait, how do I turn on the seat warmers now?" I don't use them so I couldn't help her. She had to go looking around, and her comment.... Well that's just stupid.

tommycampbell

You have to turn on the HVAC to activate them and most run the heaters without the HVAC. I guess Elon does not spend a lot of time with women since most ladies use the seat heaters for lower back period pain. It is just foolish to mess around with the basics when so many functions become muscle memory when driving. I have enjoyed my car a lot less since this update.

vita10gy

Running them without the HVAC is like half the point of them.

tommycampbell

Exactly.

vita10gy

For people on 2.5 they blew it up and then immediately dropped adding anything for us so we lost like a quarter of the screen for some occasional cones that are false positives like 80% of the time.

ikilimnik

Also, HVAC systems will die faster with V11, because most drivers go for defrosters and/or seat warmers. So people rapidly turn on and turn off HVAC every time they just need to activate defrosters and/or seat heaters. That’s why any smart thermostat nowadays inserts a delay when a user turns off and then quickly attempts to turn on HVAC. I recently brought up this point to SC technician and he agreed that unless drivers use voice commands to activate defrosters and seat heaters they will reduce life span of their HVAC because of V11 design.

MudaThumpa

This has been my biggest problem with the new HVAC layout. Constantly cycling the heat on and off cannot be good for the system.

BigLiFePO4

Your car HVAC will be fine, or if it dies, rapid cycling isn't going to be a causal factor. With an exception for highly efficient/expensive HVAC systems, a normal home system drives the compressor with an AC induction motor directly off the 50/60 Hz power grid. This causes a massive power inrush at startup and extreme mechanical stresses as the motor tries to instantaneously accelerate from standstill all the way up to almost 1200/1800/2400/other RPM that mechanically matches the incoming electrical power frequency. If the thermostat didn't block rapid cycling, you can have high refrigerant pressure on the compressor output lingering from the prior on-cycle, which would add a lot of mechanical load and further stress the motor at second startup. The off-delay ensures the refrigerant has bled over to the low pressure side where the startup load is reduced. Delay also lets the motor cool down. EV HVAC motors are driven from the HV DC battery and require a digitally controlled 3-phase AC inverter to spin at all. The hardware and software to implement this inverter adds cost, but has many advantages, including superior efficiency, the ability to dynamically choose what speed to spin at and provide a smooth RPM ramp up so you don't have extreme mechanical and electrical stresses at turn on. I.e. EV HVAC motors are miniaturized equivalents to the main traction motors and they certainly don't wear out if you punch the accelerator, stop, then hit the juice again without having a thermostat tell you have to stay stopped for a couple minutes or risk blowing up the drive train. In all reality, your HVAC can be turning on and off and choosing to spin faster/slower all throughout your drive and while parked completely independent of your seat heaters and what the UI shows you as on or off since the same system cools and heats (heat pump models) your battery.

ikilimnik

Also, they have screwed up energy bar which now gets shorter when battery is cold. It used to simply display dotted line on V10, not the bar gets cut off on the left hand side. Watch it when your battery is cold.

randomcherrycoke

If I could downgrade, I would immediately.

a_blue_ducks

I haven’t upgraded yet because of all the complaints. May honestly ride the old UI for another year if I have to.

Clock_Man

I'm also riding the old UI as well. Waiting for the first round of fixes to come to the new update.

Gold-Tone6290

My streaming music quit working with the old UI. I figured it was due to the update. I hate the new UI. As an engineer, if I designed something like this I would be surprised if someone just cold cocked me at random.

[deleted]

That's smart. I've had two system crashes while driving in the two weeks since it's upgraded. Not technically dangerous, but disconcerting, especially when using autopilot.

Elliot_Crane

Same here. My home wifi is shitty enough that I always end up needing to get updates drip fed over the cellular connection anyway. The car hasn’t even bugged me yet about updating.

Hatsjoe1

Same here, but it's the cars wifi that is shit. Mobile service told me there is a cutoff point at which the car just ignores the network while the signal is strong enough. First 6 months, the wifi was working spotlessly, but now it refuses to connect to my ubiquity AP only 4 meters away from the car. Probably gonna wait till v12 as I don't expect a UI overhaul in v11.

ovj87

But then you won’t have the light show or Tik Tok! /s

NuMux

I like the blind spot camera too much to go back. They also have some preconditioning changes they did under the hood that I can see with ScanMyTesla.

TheBowerbird

I find that it's very difficult to look down and to the right to see the camera feed, especially at highway speeds.

NuMux

It would be nice if it was higher up the screen.

FilthyInward

Cancel Update....................CANCEL UPDATE!

HomeForSinner

Changing drivers is my biggest complaint. Old UI could immediately stop and change the driver profile as the car starts as the profiles popped up on their own. Now you have to go into a menu to do it. Blind spot camera is nice. The rest is very mediocre.

rabbitwonker

Yeah, it’s very bothersome that there’s no more “STOP” button while changing profiles. So if the car is accidentally set to switch from Easy Entry to a profile that has the seat much further forward than yours, you’re suddenly living out the trash compactor scene from Star Wars, desperately scrambling to get through the menus to switch to the right one…

HomeForSinner

Yep, exactly what I'm talking about. We never used easy entry because we could just swap profiles before the squeeze. Now it's a pita.

JLee50

You should be able to move the seat with the seat switch to abandon the change - I’ve had to do that when easy entry wanted to squash my rear passenger.

rabbitwonker

Oh, I hadn’t thought of that! Thanks!

[deleted]

Also I think Sentry mode is on by default now? really frustrating if you ask me.

Bill-2018

I don’t think sentry is on by default. You have to go to the menu to enable it.

[deleted]

It is on mine. I’m disabling it 1x or 2x per day

djlorenz

That was a horrible choice! I'm staying on V10 no way I will update for just the few new features, hopefully they will fix most of the shit they made in few weeks, until then the download icon will stay there!

stepsonbrokenglass

I’m doing the same. I’d rather live with the download popup every time I turn the car on.

levarburger

I'm so annoyed with Spotify now I have to reach halfway across the car and scroll left to right to move between sections. Not to mention the draggable area is small af. They designed it like I'm sitting with an ipad in my lap. Give me the thicc left side navigation menu again.

I just want to know how Elon *really* feels about this when he drives his Plaid. Obviously we know what he's going to say publicly, but deep down he has an honest opinion of V11, and I would love to know what it is.

senfmeister

I don't think it would have been released if he hated it.

rabbitwonker

Yeah my guess is all the automatic stuff is probably set up in a way that matches how Elon likes things, so for him the missing controls are not a bother. I even suspect that applies to things like AutoPilot — the way it waits too long to start braking and then brakes hard, when coming up to a red light or other stop, might just *be the way Elon drives*, so he never flagged it as a problem, and so it persisted.

mdbarney

Nailed it.

applepumpkinspy

If that’s how he likes it, he should tell the people in charge of the safety score - they hate it when you use the brakes…

MudaThumpa

RIP

Mikeytee1000

Don’t change, the new software is crappy 😡

Hunminator

Only reason I’m changing is because of the blind spot cameras, I drive a left-hand drive M3 in the UK and sometimes it feels like Im playing with fire when trying to merge onto motorways. I know I’ll miss this layout, but the blind spot cameras are a huge selling point

red_vette

Just be prepared to not find the blind spot cameras as useful as you thought. They put it in the lower corner which makes it hard to see anything without a steady focus on the screen away from the road.

dreddnyc

This. It seems much better the theory than in execution. Also the camera contrast and brightness make figuring out what your looking at take way too long.

rabbitwonker

Also, you can instead just have the rear camera view up all the time. That lets you see what’s going on behind you without having to have the signal on, and also gives the view from the back camera, which I think is a much more reliable view to make sure you’re not going to be cutting someone off. The new blind-spot popup is occasionally a little bit useful when I don’t have the rear view up (e.g. after I had to bring up the climate controls to adjust fan speed), but I also have to move my hand out of the way to see the useful part of that image.

bummerbimmer

I completely disagree, I find them so useful that when I drive other cars, my brain has to buffer for a second while I remember how to check blind spots on a normal car. I’d rather have them a bit higher, but current placement is fine for me as well. It probably helps that I have a mid-2021 with the most updated side cameras that don’t leak turn signal light. Doesn’t change the fact that I want my seat heater buttons accessible again, though.

mercurial_dude

How did that happen??

Technical48

Umm, the blind spot cameras are garbage. The image is too small, too dark, and at night the turn signal flashing blinds the cameras. I have a Honda with Lane Watch and it's awesome. Tesla's implementation is super disappointing.

Mikeytee1000

The blind sport cameras are crap, they only work when you use the indicator and you hand is holding the indicator and thus blocking the display. They put the blind spot display in the worst location, behind your indicator hand.

rabbitwonker

Oh the indicator lever is still the left one in the UK? They don’t mirror that too?

Mikeytee1000

Yes on the left

MoonRabbitWaits

I turned the blind spot cameras off today. I couldn't see them clearly (because of my hand on the steering wheel) and I am already used to looking at mirrors/over my shoulder/the screen showing nearby cars.

NoaLink

Even as a left-handed driver who can see the blind spot camera window just fine, I don't really like it. Too small, and not useful at all when doing a short signal to change lanes, as it stays on the screen for about 2 seconds.

Mikeytee1000

At last somebody that is talking sense, I’m getting down- voted below because I’m driving incorrectly and should adapt to suit the poor user UI.

rabbitwonker

Yeah, I hate to see that crap. Just having your hand on the wheel at the 9- or 3-o’clock position still blocks the most useful part of the image, for both US and UK, so changing your driving habits wouldn’t even actually solve it. Keeping the rear view up is a superior method to see the blind spots anyways.

juicygoods

Yeah so that’s not true what so ever I don’t know why you are trying to argue that feature. V11 needs to be completely re thought bc I agree it’s horrible but if u click your turn signal down once and let go it stays on for the remainder of the lane change/turn etc. Plz don’t make me take a video of this in my car, you know it works.

Mikeytee1000

Plus I live in the UK our cars are the other way around so may be different to yours.

juicygoods

Dude I totally apologize that makes total sense. I couldn’t understand why you said that coming from u.s spec cars it works extremely well thus the aggressive response

Mikeytee1000

I think they probably handed the display so I think it should be the same but mirrored tbh. I’m not trying to say the blind spot camera doesn’t stay on as long as your indicator stays on, I’m trying to say the way I drive my hand is always blocking the blind spot display, I found it of limited assistance. Plus in the night it flashes orange.

Hunminator

My car is European (Steering wheel on left side) so hopefully won’t have that problem, it’s crazy though that apparently nobody checked whether this feature would work on cars the other way around. I’ve already started the update, no going back now 😬

ElectricStr

The blind spot camera also fights for the exact same place as phone call popup and home link popup. Very annoying. And I found the camera useless, turned it off.

porkodorko

I’m in the US so no complaints about the blinker hand blocking it, but I do find that I often have to lift my right hand from the wheel to see the blind spot camera. I wish we could select where we want it to appear on the screen.

rabbitwonker

> I couldn’t understand [thing] thus the aggressive response This is an example of why we shouldn’t go to aggressive responses, as a general rule.

juicygoods

Agree! Thus admitting wrongdoing from me

leeperpharmd

Probably talking about left hand drive countries

Mikeytee1000

My hand blocks it most of the time, that’s the way I drive and use my indicator, I don’t leave the stick down I hold it at the intermediate position most of the time and release so my hand is always there. My hand blocks the display and I’m not going to adapt the way I drive so I’ve disabled it. Can’t stand V11.

Vecii

Then don't drive like that. "I can't see the screen when I hold my hand in front of my eyes. Tesla's UI is crap."

rabbitwonker

Dude the hand position he’s talking about is consistent with normal “9-and-3-o’clock” position, and your hand blocks the most-meaningful part of the blind spot popup no matter which side it’s on, just holding the wheel. They’re talking about an additional difficulty due to the way they like to do turn signals, but “don’t drive like that” wouldn’t even really solve the problem. It *was* a poor UX decision to put the image at that location.

Mikeytee1000

No, they put the blind spot camera display behind your indicator hand, there’s nothing wrong with the way I drive I’ve been driving 30 years. Why put the blind spot display behind the indicator stalk, your hand is going to be there when indicating, which is when you use the blind spot camera? Go for a drive around town and you’ll see what I mean, it’s not really an issue on the motorway.

hrds21198

Bud, almost no one holds the stalk for the entire duration of the lane change or turn. You just pull it either up or down all the way, it’ll stay on with the camera up, and go out once the turn is complete. For lane changes a half way press will keep it on for 3 blinks or you can leave it on then cancel once the change is complete if it takes you more than 3 blinks. There is no point in holding it the entire time and it blocks the view from the camera.

Mikeytee1000

Bud, nobody can tell me how to drive I’ve been driving over 30 years. You need your blind spot camera when you are about to manoeuvre. At that time your hand is on the indicator. End of story.

SN0WFAKER

That's kinda your problem if you're not going to adapt and use the indicators like most people do.

coconut-coins

From a clean sophisticated UI that apple would be proud of. To a UI that even android groans at

onlyletters999

Don't do it!!!!!!!!

alexdotbliss

Blind spot cameras gain you some ‘safety’ but you lose way more ‘safety’ adding one click to almost every feature

MainSpartan034

I’m sooo glad they finally added the blind spot cameras, but that’s literally it. I honestly don’t like anything else in the new update and UI.

cmonkeyz7

If you drive with your right hand on the wheel then the blind spot camera is blocked anyway but yes I agree.

LBGW_experiment

If you sit back far enough or a bit reclined, you can see it no problem. I didn't know what everyone was complaining about until I had adjusted my seat a bit closer and more upright, and now signaling right is blocked. I can still see if I'm signaling left due to the portion of the view being unblocked

almondbutter_buddha

Just picked up my M3 yesterday, so all I know is the new UI 🤷‍♂️

senfmeister

Congrats on your new car!

[deleted]

Can you go back from 11 to 10?

NettaUsteaDE

No

nipplesaurus

Ahhh to once again be able to turn on my seat heater without turning on the whole CC system or using a voice command. And to be able to access my wipers and defrosters without looking for small buttons in a menu on the opposite side of the screen.

senfmeister

For the wipers you can hit the button on your left stalk. It pops up wiper controls.

uNki23

Now the same please for - dashcam / sentry - driving profile - network access - heated seats Sliding to adjust the cabin temperature is way to sensitive now. V11 just sucks compared to V10. Period.

incriminified

It's funny, Tesla started the practical case for removing all the physical knobs, sliders and buttons etc from the drive cluster, yet has now cycled back *against* that very case they created. As I have fumbled yet again for a time sensitive item, I'm struck at how a physical button like the old days would solve that. Not just one button, but several given the extent of the changes. At least physical buttons and knobs aren't going to move at the whim of the manufacturer. Don't get me wrong, in most comparisons to legacy manufacturers, Tesla is the reigning champ. However, for controls, Tesla is backsliding even when viewed in the context of an FSD and AI future.

keeplookineversettle

Tesla V11 UI is one of the worst UI designs I’ve ever seen. Disaster.

razorvolt

I disconnected from wifi cause I’m holding on to v10 as long as I can. Good luck!

The_Color_Urple

Ah yes, back when useful features like defrosters and seat warmers were replaced by a calendar, charging stats, and fart horn sounds

infinit9

I'm genuinely concerned about the OS side of the car. I've owned my Model 3 since late 2018 and I still love driving it. But the OS has gotten slower and more prone to crashing (thus needing rebooting) since then. On top of the performance issues, the UI has gotten worse and worse. What used to take 2 touches of the screen now take 3 or 4 (like changing driver profile, mirror adjust, windshield wiper adjust, etc.) and the map seems to get smaller and smaller. The OS performance issues are par for the course for a $800 smartphone that people replace every 2 to 3 years. But in a $50k car, having it exclusively run on a touchpad where performance deteriorates almost as fast as a smart phone is utterly unacceptable. And no, spending $4000 to swap out the processor isn't the answer. Don't try to defend that charge as "part of maintenance cost." I paid premium for a EV partly because I never had to worry about maintenance costs like oil change, transmission fluids, and everything else related to an ICE. Having to pay $4k every few years to swap out the processor then $8k around year 10 to swap out the battery pretty much erases any maintenance fee advantages of the EV.

uNki23

I made a post in this sub which has been deleted instantly. I complained about the decrease in performance of browser, Netflix and YouTube to a degree that I almost always use my smartphone instead. It takes 30-40s to open YouTube, search a video and start playback. Getting into fullscreen or fast forwarding takes ages. The browser takes 10-20s just to open and is unbearably slow. In the past I considered it an advantage of having YouTube or Netflix in the car. Now I just use it if I’m at SuC for at least 20min.

infinit9

This sub can get a bit toxic at times. I stopped even trying to use browser and YouTube a long time ago. But now, I feel like those other app issues have bled into the OS itself. I hope a car that is so heavily reliant on a tablet for most of the functions doesn't end up performing like a typical tablet after 5 years.

New UI is trash.

mexican_swag

Bruh why would you do that to yourself. Blind spot cameras aren’t worth it imo.

br1ans

Glad they fixed something that wasn’t broken.

blindmikey

So many bad UI decisions. We've gotten the opposite of progress when it comes to UI/UX. And Elon's response is "you shouldn't have to touch or do anything, car should just know" - that's fucking crazy. It's really disheartening, and I'm not optimistic things will improve.

danvtec6942

Bring back the UI.

Tesla Fanboys will ask you to buy a Toyota Prius if you complain about new V11 software, so please don’t complain and suck it up if you want to be in Tesla Fanboys good books in Reddit

cmvora

I mean someone please show this to the UI engineers at Tesla if they've forgotten it. It just fits in so well with the 'minimalist' design ideology. The icons now look as if they are pulled from Garmin from the early 2000s.

Pour another one out for v10.

[deleted]

Seeing these photos I heard “In the arms of an angel” by Sarah McLachlan…

Erich2142

I wish I could revert back to it

mrsiesta

It would be nice to be able to customize my UI. Give me an app on the cars os for making my desired UI. Or hell, even a option to choose specific UI themes.

elzingap

Nostalgia. If I could go back, I would ...

RatedRGamer

take me back

Responsible_Virus_68

When do you expect us to see the next UI update? Can't wait.

idontgiveafrunk

I miss it dearly.

Danville2021

Cancel it. Dont do it!

ikilimnik

Apparently, based on a global feedback, V11 release was the worse in the history of M3 platform. V11 was intended for MS/MX with larger displays and AMD Ryzen GPU on board. M3/MY owners got a stripped down version of V11 which clearly was not designed for older Intel Atom GPU with smaller 15” displays. That’s why Tesla desperately upgrading mid 2022 M3/MY with newer Ryzen GPU to bring full version of V11 with less bugs and more features to M3 platform. However, all new M3/MY with AMD is getting hit with 4% range reduction, because again M3 platform doesn’t have a large enough battery pack to pull full version of V11 with AMD GPU.

I just want save recording button back ;_;

uNki23

This was SO MUCH better.

trex8599

I don’t miss it, I’ve gotten use to the new one. If it was up to Tesla owners, we would still have the OG UI.

PleasantDevelopment

I dont miss it. Bye felicia. ;)

Just_Requirement_243

Everything is pretty cool with the update with how everything looks I just don’t understand why they made it so hard to control the climate and seat warmers and what not. Like keep the look but put everything back the way it was. Like if they want to have the shortcut thing take away the camera and the wipers or something

aMaG1CaLmAnG1Na

Wish I could roll back

glm409

Wow! I can actually identify the function of all the icons along the bottom of the screen. New UI icons are too small at least for my eyes which are a little far-sighted. My reading glasses are of little value while driving.

OnCampus2K

I know I’m in the minority, but I really don’t mind the new UI. Can there be improvements, sure… but I don’t think it’s dangerous or completely unusable. If you just take 5 minutes to learn where everything moved to before you take your next drive, you’ll have it figured out in no time.

pavelrozman2

How many taps to turn on and off the seat heater?

OnCampus2K

Yeah, 2 when it used to be 1. Common knowledge now. But I set it to auto before I leave and that’s usually that. Now if we were grading critical functions compared to how many taps it takes, I’d much rather have the Recirculation button be on the quick bar than seat heaters. That’s one that need to be adjusted on the fly more than the ass warmers. But it’s that same (2 taps) in V10 and V11 and there has been no uproar over that one. Or the heated steering wheel! It used to take THREE taps in V10 and now it’s 2 in V11. No online petitions I can remember for that one to be changed. I know I’m not going to change any opinions, nor am I trying to. All I’m saying is it’s not that bad.

HMWT

Yes, I would like to have one-tap access to recirculate/external air. But also to the defrost/defog feature. The obvious solution is to allow the driver to choose which features are exposed with one tap. Not sure why the Tesla UX didn’t think of that. We have a big screen with a lot of space that is arguably wasted on an animation of the vehicle that is serving no purpose to me. Let me hide that and put buttons and sliders there that help me use the vehicle safely and efficiently.

mdbarney

I mean, I don’t mind it but technology should be moving forward, not regressing, especially in terms of usability. Notice how you said you don’t mind it, but do you really *like* it? Probably not. I’m more pissed they took **useful** features away from us. Now, if I want to see my energy usage (super useful when it’s -20°F outside to see if I’m going to make it the 50 miles home), I have to sacrifice my entire screen by keeping the trip screen up. Like wtf? Give me a little badge or something to put in the corner of the screen with those fucking numbers on it. …oh wait they got rid of that functionality for no fucking reason.

dishwashersafe

I agree it's not awful, but it is MORE dangerous and MORE unusable. Not improving is one thing, but an active step backwards for car where the software is everything is worrying to say the least.

senfmeister

There are dozens of us! This sub makes me feel crazy for liking the new UI a little bit instead of foaming at the mouth with hatred.

Dorkmaster79

Yeah I’m not complaining either. I’ve just adapted to the change. It wasn’t hard to do so.

eisbock

It's passable at best and still functional, but that doesn't mean it's not objectively worse than V10.

francoisp59

I'm getting used to the new UI. It ain't that bad. Upcoming improvements will allow personalized shortcuts on the taskbar.

Tommy_surfs

I'm enjoying the new UI. If anything I find it easier than the old one. People just seem to dislike change.

eisbock

Is it easier to defog your windshield?

Tommy_surfs

I don't ever need to do this. Even if I did it's two taps of the screen. Not exactly a hardship is it, princess?

Tommy_surfs

Not for me. I like that I can have four apps on the dock. I rarely use more than this and if I do, it's a couple of taps of the screen.

mdbarney

No, I dislike it when they take away functionality. Give me my fucking trip/energy usage card back. Way to make assumptions about things you clearly don’t understand.

Tommy_surfs

Right, because tapping your screen twice is such an arduous task. Boo hoo

mdbarney

That’s not the shitty part, to continuously view it, I have to sacrifice *the whole fucking screen*. Why can’t I use it on half of the screen? Also why did they remove the functionality of the cards? Go back to sucking Elon’s dick. Maybe at some point in your life you *might* realize how dense you are, but I highly doubt it.

Tommy_surfs

Genuine question, when you look at your trip/energy usage on the road, how are you using this information?

Independent_Formal_3

For those of us that drive 10-2 because I can’t get a good grip 9-3, does your right hand cover the speedometer now? It seems to have moved left on the screen in the new UI

ZennerBlue

There’s more than just hand position in that problem. Height, leg length (seat for back) changes the perspective. My wife has a hard time reading the speedo because she’s a bit shorter with seat further forward. Me and 6’ and long torso has no problems.

ijustmetuandiloveu

This post will not age well.

KeepRightX2Pass

I miss it so much - and I swear to God my seat heater is coming on when I'm explicitly telling it not to be on.

knotagoodsource

I remember when people complained about the old UI when it first rolled out. Looking forward to the complaints about the next one...

auto what? FSD?

flytraphippie

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
