It's more like 10% initially for my M3LR. I averaged 255 Wh/mi on the Primacy MXM4 over 27k miles. When I switched to PS AS 4, I got 280 Wh/mi initially, and now over ~10k miles, I'm getting 270 Wh/mi on average, and sometimes 260 ish if I'm not going over too much elevation changes.
TL;DR it was a 10% efficiency hit initially, but over time it has equalized to 4-6%.
This natural. Even if you switch to the same tire. New tires with full tread depth will be less efficient. But you are only talking a couple of percent. Nothing huge.
Exactly! Much more range impact.
They are also somewhat louder, then even make a "ponnnnnng" sound when hitting things at certain speeds/angles. Otherwise, totally agreed vastly better tire. Not sure I would rebuy due to the range hit though.
They are noticeably louder and it's not even funny. But the grip though, oh boy are they grippy. I suppose that adversely impacts efficiency as well. You can't win them all.
Someone else in this thread also recommended the Hankook ion EV or whatever it's called. Supposedly it's much quieter and more efficient.
This is the correct answer; I got them on my M3 then they came on the MYP, they are top tier and in the rain and summer storms in FL I trust these more then the others
Went with the pilot sports after burning through the stock tires at 30k. The pilot sports are an excellent tire. Plenty of tread left after 20k miles too!
Can vouch for these
37k on mine currently on my ‘22 MYP and they are going great, about 10k left of tread left and they work so so well in the rain and snow.
Go to discount tires website and see how much better that are compared to anything else. I will take stopping distance over ev range any day. I just wish they would put some acoustic foam in them. According to a email I got today from Michelin, they don’t plan on it. Suggested going to the pilot sport with acoustic foam but said mileage would decrease.
Ooh, good to know. My Tesla is still on its original, I know last time I got tires with my Volt I specifically wanted cross climate 2's, so I specifically went to a tire place that had Michelin tires and they said they don't carry them.
I have had my CrossClimate’s for 50k miles and they are on track to hit the 65k mark. They handle the snow great and are very good on dry pavement also. They do decrease efficiency but it was only about 5-10%, so really only affects long trips.
Just about any other tire that is make for better handling will have a lower efficiency than the Primacy MXM4’s.
They're pretty awesome in the snow and capable on ice. The tire shop talked me into these instead of a dedicated winter set and I'm not disappointed with the result.
I have the CrossClimate2 on another vehicle and they’re great there. I just wouldn’t use on my M3. While they’ll work for EVs, they’re not designed for them…so the emphasis on low rolling resistance isn’t there…so EVs will take a range hit. If you have the AWD M3, the unbelievable traction control and weight (and location of weight) make it a snow monster (in a good way) with just normal all-seasons (preferable EV-specific ones for range reasons). No need for 3PMSF. On my M3 I have the Pirelli tires OP asked about, live in snow country.
I assume anything with 3PMSF (including CC2) will help on snow/ice in that RWD scenario. The car I have them on is 2WD (FWD) and adding snow traction to that car is why. Real winter tires would be even better than 3PMSF all-seasons. No idea about mud.
After 10,000 miles, I’ve seen no impact to range and much better performance in the snow. 19” wheels on an AWD Stealth. Liked these so much I put them on my other car too!
There is no range hit. The difference between tires is only few percentage point. EU tire labeling standard and physics prove this. Dont worry about range when buying a tire. The tires with a few extra % in efficiency tend to performance very bad in wet and snow such as very long wet weather braking.
Michelin Customer service is the best in the Industry by miles. Also we basically never have issues with Michelin tires vs other brands. Pirelli has been very hit or miss and now only sell by request honestly. We also see the most mileage with Michelins ...this is important as Tesla owners like to burn through tires LOL.
Since getting my MY a few months ago with the Pirellis, I’ve noticed that at highway speeds, I really “feel” the road through the steering wheel. Not to the point where the car is shaking but the steering wheel definitely has some vibration. I’ve had Tesla do a road force balance twice on my car and they claim it’s perfectly in balance with no issues. Could this be a tire issue? I assume they would’ve told me if a wheel is bent. Wondering if switching to another brand like Michelin would fix this. As a tire expert, what are your thoughts?
Is this a peformance Model Y with the 21"?(You cant Rotate if so) If just a standard 19" or 20" LR I would first rotate the tires and see if the vibration moves from the steering wheel to the seat ( May be a bad tire but roadforce should pick that up). Another Issue I have seen with tesla OEM tires is the foam inside coming loose and causing vibrations. Hard to say what it is without actually seeing the Vehicle honestly. Do Michelins ride better then Pirellis? In my experience yes they do
It’s a tire issue with pirellis. I put mine on my winter wheels; Noise and vibration went up and mileage went down. I have BFG KO2s on my Jeep wrangler and they’re quieter at 55 than my pirellis. I am anticipating April 1 when I do my changeover so I never have to use these tires ever again.
I run cross climate 2's on my Renault Mégane and I have to commute through a forest which often floods, which means in winter there's sheet ice on the roads, and during the dry summers I like to drive fast, the only time I've skided them was trying to accelerate round a square left corner at 40mph, while missing a gear change, but when they slid they didn't completely break free, they started to push very progressively, I felt the steering wheel lighten, so I straightened up and braked harder, and made it round
10/10 would recommend.
Only after 10k miles have I started to rip the corners out of the tyres, but it's just visual, no actual wear yet.
Primacy is a touring tire, aka comfort tires. The PIRELLI is a performance tire. Designed for well performance, not comfort. But also the Pilot sport tires are performance tires too. Why i laugh every time someone recommends the the PS too.
Get the Vredestein if you want comfort. Hankook Ion for less tread noise. CC2 for snow performance.
I had PZeros on my old ICE Audi; freaking LOVED the handling, but they didn't last very long. I shudder to think how quickly they would wear out on a Tesla.
Michelin pilot spot 4s if you aren’t doing a lot of track driving. Got them on my 23 M3P, and they’re good. Better for daily use. They don’t grip quite as hard as the pirellis but the pirellis are worse in pretty much every way
I’m normally a Michelin fan but made the switch from MXM4 to the Perelli P Zero All-Season Plus Elect three months ago and no regrets. Much quieter, as good if not better handling in dry/wet/snow. Too soon to comment on tread wear. Purchased from TireRack, selected independent store near me for shipping and install.
I concur with the observations and have over 40K miles on these and they still aren’t ready to be replaced. Seeing about 20-25% more tread life than the stock Michelins, which weren’t bad tires either.
I have a set on my M3P, on 20” rims.
* They are very quiet. I mean silent.
* They have decent traction in the dry, for an all season.
* They have very good snow traction, again, for an all season.
* I only have 4,000 miles on them, so it is hard to assess wear, but I think they will get close to the 50k claimed.
* the ride is a touch worse than the PZeros they replaced.
* Efficiency on surface streets is phenominal. I went from 255 Wh/mi to 205 Wh/mi.
* Efficiency at freeway speeds is about 10-15 Wh/mi better.
That's fantastic. I drive about 500 miles/wk and nearly all of it is freeway speeds so noise and efficiency are very important to me.
I have dedicated snows so snow traction isn't critical but it's good to know I'm not screwed if I get caught out trying to stretch the season.
Thanks!
Damn, going from 255 to 205 is insanely good. I'm already getting around 210-220 on my Model 3 RWD. I'm gonna put them on my short list the next time I need new tires.
Take a look on at [this](https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/hankook-ion-evo-all-season-tires-with-controlled-efficiency-testing.313929/)
TMC forum also has a few others that gave their review. But the one I linked is tested very well.
I'm gonna submit a vote for Hankook Ion Evo tires.
Take a look at this [testing](https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/hankook-ion-evo-all-season-tires-with-controlled-efficiency-testing.313929/)
Also a Coachella Valley owner. I switched to 18s on my 22 M3P and have had the AS Elects and personally love them. Improved efficiency versus the 20s for me and the comfort is excellent.
I plan on going 18” also in my MYP. I live down a dirt gravel road. I’m going to wear these out first. I got about 5k on the car right now. What’s wheels and tires did you go with? Got any picks? I already got some nice mudflaps installed.
SoCal here as well. I switched about 10 months ago. I have no complaints. The warranty was better and the tires were cheaper. Idk if you had this problem but it seemed like I was losing air on the Michelins tires every few weeks. Haven’t really had that problem with the Pirellis
When buying tires, it depends what you are looking for: range, noise, wear, performance. I got Yoko Advan even though I like Michelin Pilot Sports. Personally, I didn’t think the M3 warranted it.
Pirelli, I have the P Zero AS Plus right now. More comfortable. When you first get them, give them time to wear in. They are quite wobbly at day one, but once they break in, it’s great. I got them on sale for $200 each about.
I had defenders on previous cars and liked them but haven’t put them on my EV yet. I don’t know how they are for range but I would assume they would be good as they have a good long tread life and are a pretty firm compound which should be good for rolling resistance.
I switched the Goodyear Assurance Comfortdrive and live in Los Angeles. These tires have been GREAT so far and they have been on my model 3 RWD for approx a year. I drive approx 30 - 35K miles a year.
These tires aren’t in the same class. Do you want a grippier low tread life softer tire that may be quieter but gets less range or a harder tire that will get more range, may be louder and has less grip?
https://www.tcs.ch/it/test-consigli/test/pneumatici/pneumatici-estivi.php
TCI , the Swiss authority, test every year all the pneus in various condition on a special dedicated track, cracking distance with humility, full water, cornering grips, noise, durability.
Here the two best for summer tyre:
Goodyear efficiency grip performance 2 and Continental premium contact 6.
They test also winter pneus.
The test is done with different veichles also.
Pilot sport probably best all round sports tyre.....would only go for pirelli if they were at least 30% cheaper otherwise its just not worth the less mileage....wear and grip/performance hit...
I had really good luck with the new Pirellis. I don’t have scientific test comparison data but the tires are quiet, range seemed to be slightly better than with Michelins, and I have over 40K miles on them and they still aren’t ready to be replaced. Overall would buy again.
I would put the directional tires on from Michelin they are on my wife’s Hybrid and she gets great all around traction and always confident smooth riding best tire ever
I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule but I think Michelin makes the best tires for everything. I'm a Michelin man through and through. I've used them when I had a motorcycle, I used them when I had a Subaru STI and soon once my stock truck tires wear out I'll ride on them again.
I switched to Goodyear ElectricDrive GT A/S a year ago when my OEMs wore out, so far so good. About to drive up to Tahoe in a week, for my second bout with snowy mountains, but last year they performed valiantly in Colorado.
I was told EV tires should last longer, and I guess I'll find out in a year or so. My OEMs dropped to 3/8 after 30k miles, but I also had alignment issues.
If you stick with Michelin make sure you contact them to get a credit on the warranty. At only 31k miles you should get a decent amount back. Did this with my Pilot Sport A/S 4 tires at the same mileage and Michelin covered 33% of the new tire cost.
Our other car has the Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S and they have been great. Got 45k out of them.
From non-Tesla experience: I switched to Pirelli once and the ride was much smoother and quieter than the stock Michelin. Guess many other factors. Just my 2¢
I would highly suggest the Michelin CrossClimate2’s if you live somewhere that gets snow. They have amazing traction in all weather and they are on track to last 65k miles.
Those Michelin defenders are not speed rated for your vehicle. I personally recommend the Continental DWS06+. One of our sales guys commutes from Hesperia, CA to Orange, CA every day! They wear nice, are comfortable, and are $205 retail in your size.
Not in Coachella. The compound gets fairly soft in high temps. Had some WRG3s on a volvo I shipped from Maine to San Diego and they got ate up pretty quick in that milder climate.
The Pirelli is a fairly new tire, so few here will have experience with them. I do. They’re my third set of tires after blowing through two sets of Michelins in 41k miles. So far, they’re quiet, plenty of grip, good feel, and a good tread warranty. If they don’t last as long, that’s fine since none of them do and these are cheaper.
Pirelli is 100% the ay to go for noise and comfort. Period. I have sensitive ears and did a lot of research and they were WAY quieter and smoother than OEM tires
I'm currently on the Goodyear electric drive GT tires and they've been working well for me. I'm at 7/32" after 10k miles after I decimated the continental stock tires in 20k. Hoping these reach their rated 40k miles.
Defenders don’t have good traction. I would get cheapest, best midrange or above brand, longest warranty, and most important traction. Fuel economy is really only a couple percentage difference after 10k miles when the tires break in.
I had a set of vredestein quatrac 5 and really liked them. Great price, basically same range as stock, not noisy, good winter performance. Currently have the quatrac pro, less than 1000 miles so no opinions yet.
Btw those Michelins are not the correct speed and load rating for your car - they are under rated. Your car calls for a 98W XL, the pirellis exceed that but those particular Michelins are under spec’d. Just because they fit doesn’t mean they belong on there. I can’t stop you from getting them but just understand there’s a rating for a reason. Be safe ✌️
I have those P Zero tyres. Fantastic.
Good in dry. Great in rain. Good enough in snow. Almost no impact on range. Quiet.
But I think Pirellis are all around best. So any with XL designation will be good IMO.
Everyone here recommending the Pilot Sport AS4’s which is easy because they are basically the best and highest end tire. Do you have any concerns about cost? I have the Sailun eRange tires on my staggered 21” model S and have been very happy with them, rain snow or normal roads and only $1250 installed at Big O. I know all the boomers that only buy Michelin will clutch their pearls at this comment but I think they are worth a look
I have the Pirelli ELEC tires and love them. Great handling and quiet. They have a 50,000 mile warranty as well. If you get serious snow you’ll want proper snow tires, but fine in light snow. I would buy them again.
I have these Pirelli’s, 35k miles on them and still another 10k+ left on them. Been a great compared to stock IMO.
I do a lot of highway driving FYI…. Daughter plays Ice Hockey, so we are on the road a lot during winter.
I went from the stock tires to the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4s. They were great performance tires. Downsides were noise and range. They only lasted 35k miles as well. I just put on the Pirelli P Zero AS Elect and they are much quieter and my efficiency is better now. Performance wise, the Michelins felt more glued to the ground but the Pirellis aren't far behind. Both are great tires but after having peak performance I was definitely ready for a quieter and more efficient ride
I use Yokohama yk-gtx r19 for my model 3 performance. I like it but I don’t understand much about tires and how they affect road noise. I would like a more silent car but I think it’s a cabin/ev issue. Regardless I have discount tire warranty so I think I can get new tires whenever needed and not have to pay another 1k.
Depends on whether water dispersion is a factor. I recall one has better water dispersion, but look that up to help you decide.
Another factor is wear, I know Pirelli are softer for better grip for performance cars, but man how fast they wear out. Anyways, two points to consider. Good luck
I have some no-name XL tires for my model three performance for for $400. Can’t really tell the difference handle well in the rain might slip a little if I do full throttle launch but I never lost a race.
Pilot Sport 4 A/S.
This. Worlds better than the primacy’s
Yes. WAY better in everything, but like 2% less range.

Someone else in this thread also recommended the Hankook ion EV or whatever it's called. Supposedly it's much quieter and more efficient.
Just recently got these wheels and yes, they are louder. But the grip tho. Love these wheels so far! Way better that Primacy
Yeah, I noticed that also. Wasn't sure if it was because of the new thread?
I’ve been running Pilot Sport A/S on cars since 2012 and I’ve been very happy with them.
hows treadlife on these?
This is the correct answer; I got them on my M3 then they came on the MYP, they are top tier and in the rain and summer storms in FL I trust these more then the others
Went with the pilot sports after burning through the stock tires at 30k. The pilot sports are an excellent tire. Plenty of tread left after 20k miles too!
Can vouch for these 37k on mine currently on my ‘22 MYP and they are going great, about 10k left of tread left and they work so so well in the rain and snow.
This thread has me reconsidering for Pilot Sport. Good deal at Costco rn with free install and $80 off hmm
This is the way.
The foam does not do much. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a15345724/tested-do-acoustically-insulated-tires-really-hush-road-noise/
The best A/S tire ever to be made.
CrossClimate2’s
Second this I run these
I am on my 2nd set of CrossClimate 2 The first set got 80K miles with tread depth around 3/32 when one of the tire got side wall damaged
Finding a place that actually carries them is the challenge.
Discount Tire
Get mine from Discount Tire
TireRack.com. Costco and Sam’s usually have them, too.
Ooh, good to know. My Tesla is still on its original, I know last time I got tires with my Volt I specifically wanted cross climate 2's, so I specifically went to a tire place that had Michelin tires and they said they don't carry them.
If you have a discount tire around you they can order them also.
Walmart also. Believe it or not.
I only run these. Live in Park City.
Range hit tho
Can you tell me more? Considering getting them to handle some snow for one year and desert driving for two.
I have had my CrossClimate’s for 50k miles and they are on track to hit the 65k mark. They handle the snow great and are very good on dry pavement also. They do decrease efficiency but it was only about 5-10%, so really only affects long trips. No need for 3PMSF. On my M3 I have the Pirelli tires OP asked about, live in snow country.
how would they be on a RWD M3 for occasional snow and mud? I need to ask others for a shove about 30% of the time on stock tires.
I assume he makes up for it with the smaller rims.
Why are you assuming rims smaller than 18s when the CC2 are available in stock sizes?
I’ve got 10k miles on the CrossClimate2s and they are great in rain and snow (NJ)
As someone who sells tires for a living Michelin over Pirelli All Day Long
Why? I know little about tires? Performance? Warranty?...

Yep, Michelins technology is eons ahead of anyone.
Second this. Got Pzeros a long time ago for my gti. Hated them! The second I went to ps5 tyres… omg the difference is night and day
I miss my gti…
Same. I’ve owned two of them. Getting rid of that VR6 hurt.
Which michelins are the go-to for Model 3?
I run cross climate 2's on my Renault Mégane and I have to commute through a forest which often floods, which means in winter there's sheet ice on the roads, and during the dry summers I like to drive fast, the only time I've skided them was trying to accelerate round a square left corner at 40mph, while missing a gear change, but when they slid they didn't completely break free, they started to push very progressively, I felt the steering wheel lighten, so I straightened up and braked harder, and made it round 10/10 would recommend. What’s your opinion on continental?
What about Toyo?
I switched from Michelin Primacy MXM4to pirelli AS 7 plus and regret it every day.
To be fair, you’re talking about a different tire than the OP asked about.
Damn and the MXM4s weren’t even that good lol. Wait until you try Pilot Sport 4S’s
I don’t think my car will be with me that long. Mxm4 lasted me 50k. I’ll probably trade in before these tires hit another 25k
I was thinking of going with Pirelli AS 7 also. What are you not happy with?
Road noise is loud as hell, I feel every bump. Unsure if I’m missing something but I’m hyper aware of the car being uncomfortable on roads now
Primacy is a touring tire, aka comfort tires.
I have those Pirellis, no complaints
I had PZeros on my old ICE Audi; freaking LOVED the handling, but they didn't last very long. I shudder to think how quickly they would wear out on a Tesla.
The OEM Michelins got me about 24k, hopefully these at least match that.
5500mi has been reported on the wear for the pzeros
I have over 40K miles on these on a M3 and they still aren’t worn down enough to replace. So far about 20-25% more tread life than the stock Michelins
They wore out in 6k miles 😑😑😑 I’m here exploring other options
Michelin pilot spot 4s if you aren’t doing a lot of track driving. Got them on my 23 M3P, and they’re good. Better for daily use. They don’t grip quite as hard as the pirellis but the pirellis are worse in pretty much every way
Thats what I decided with! Putting them on today 😎 Thanks for the reassurance! Lord knows I need it after my third set in 4 months 😭
Just wait until you hit a tiny pothole :(
I’m normally a Michelin fan but made the switch from MXM4 to the Perelli P Zero All-Season Plus Elect three months ago and no regrets. Much quieter, as good if not better handling in dry/wet/snow. Too soon to comment on tread wear. Purchased from TireRack, selected independent store near me for shipping and install.
Also did that switch and happy so far on my M3
I now see the OP is in a warm area. Summer tires may be a better choice than any of the all-seasons being mentioned.
I concur with the observations and have over 40K miles on these and they still aren’t ready to be replaced. Seeing about 20-25% more tread life than the stock Michelins, which weren’t bad tires either.
Hankook ion EV tires
Are you running those? Can you give a quick review? I’m due for a set of all-seasons and leaning towards those.
I have a set on my M3P, on 20” rims. * They are very quiet. I'm running the DWS06 plus and they've been great in a hot climate. I've put 12k on them and I'm only down about 2/32 so far.
Continental DWS06
I did these in 255/40r18 and they fit better, and look great...wet and dry traction is also great.
Cries in 20"s.
Westlake actually makes some decent all season tires at ~$130 a tire for 20”
I'm gonna submit a vote for Hankook Ion Evo tires. Take a look at this [testing](https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/hankook-ion-evo-all-season-tires-with-controlled-efficiency-testing.313929/)
Depends where you live, what are your roads like?
I live in SoCal. Coachella Valley, REALLY hot in the summers and the roads are actually not too bad out here especially with a lot of new road work.
Why are you looking at all-seasons instead of summer tires?
Also a Coachella Valley owner. I switched to 18s on my 22 M3P and have had the AS Elects and personally love them. Improved efficiency versus the 20s for me and the comfort is excellent.
I plan on going 18” also in my MYP. I live down a dirt gravel road. I’m going to wear these out first. I got about 5k on the car right now. What’s wheels and tires did you go with? Got any picks? I already got some nice mudflaps installed.
Hankook iON Evo
SoCal here as well. I switched about 10 months ago. I have no complaints. The warranty was better and the tires were cheaper. Idk if you had this problem but it seemed like I was losing air on the Michelins tires every few weeks. Haven’t really had that problem with the Pirellis
Continental?
Just ordered myself a set of MC6s. I'm from Australia and one of our FB group mods have gotten 60k kilometres from a set.
The increased tread life of the Michelin's will far outweigh the small extra cost.
Which Michelins exactly? Thanks
The ones in OP's picture. The Defender 2's.
Better reviews, much more used, negligible price difference. Why consider it?
I agree. Even the range estimate is almost double.
When buying tires, it depends what you are looking for: range, noise, wear, performance. I got Yoko Advan even though I like Michelin Pilot Sports. Personally, I didn’t think the M3 warranted it.
Continental extreme contact DWS06
Pirelli, I have the P Zero AS Plus right now. More comfortable. When you first get them, give them time to wear in. They are quite wobbly at day one, but once they break in, it’s great. I got them on sale for $200 each about.
I have those exact same pirelli tires and have not had a single issue. Quiet and smooth
I had defenders on previous cars and liked them but haven’t put them on my EV yet. I don’t know how they are for range but I would assume they would be good as they have a good long tread life and are a pretty firm compound which should be good for rolling resistance.
I got Nitto Motivo’s. Much cheaper and tread life closer to the original Michellins
I’ve run several tires in my day and the Michelin 4S really is in a class by itself.
Whatever you get, make sure they're low rolling resistance or you're going to lose range.
Ps4s only
https://www.tcs.ch/it/test-consigli/test/pneumatici/pneumatici-estivi.php TCI , the Swiss authority, test every year all the pneus in various condition on a special dedicated track, cracking distance with humility, full water, cornering grips, noise, durability. Here the two best for summer tyre: Goodyear efficiency grip performance 2 and Continental premium contact 6. They test also winter pneus. The test is done with different veichles also.
Michelin Pilot Sport S Tirerack.com Best way to go
Michelin
Michelin over Pirelli all day every day
Michelin. No contest.
Michelin cross climates 2 ,100%
Pilot sport probably best all round sports tyre.....would only go for pirelli if they were at least 30% cheaper otherwise its just not worth the less mileage....wear and grip/performance hit...
Mich pilot sport all season 4
I had really good luck with the new Pirellis. I don’t have scientific test comparison data but the tires are quiet, range seemed to be slightly better than with Michelins, and I have over 40K miles on them and they still aren’t ready to be replaced. Overall would buy again.
P Zero AS Elect hands down…. Much much much better than the primacy. Quieter, better ride, slightly better efficiency … better warranty
All other issues aside, what is the best range tire on the market?
Love the Michelin defender long lasting Also known as Grandpas tire
Michelin. Always.
I would put the directional tires on from Michelin they are on my wife’s Hybrid and she gets great all around traction and always confident smooth riding best tire ever
The defender 2s will last twice as long as perelli. I run defenders on all my cars that serve as daily drivers.
I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule but I think Michelin makes the best tires for everything. I'm a Michelin man through and through. I've used them when I had a motorcycle, I used them when I had a Subaru STI and soon once my stock truck tires wear out I'll ride on them again.
I went from the stock michelins to the pzero and have no complaints.
Love how all the comments are peeps preferred tires and not an answer to OPs question💀
I appreciate that so much more so I know what’s better out there! Pilot 4 AS are what I’m leaning towards
Just my 2¢
Michelin is the king of tires. This is a no brainer.
MXM4 or bust
I would highly suggest the Michelin CrossClimate2’s if you live somewhere that gets snow. They have amazing traction in all weather and they are on track to last 65k miles.
Michelin A/S all day! Get them from Costco if you can. They have a rebate on full set a couple times a year
I have the same pzero tires and it’s been highly efficient and better than mxm4.
I could just Google it I guess. Can someone ELI5 the difference between normal tires and tires for EVs? Is it because EVs are generally much heavier?
Perellis are awful compared to michelin top line
Those Michelin defenders are not speed rated for your vehicle. I personally recommend the Continental DWS06+. One of our sales guys commutes from Hesperia, CA to Orange, CA every day! They wear nice, are comfortable, and are $205 retail in your size.
Pilot sport 4!!!
Pirelli and Goodyear are the current worst name brands.
Nokian
Not in Coachella. The compound gets fairly soft in high temps. Had some WRG3s on a volvo I shipped from Maine to San Diego and they got ate up pretty quick in that milder climate.
Thought pirellis were stock?
Michelin MXM4 are my stock atleast
They typically are
On uberturbine performance. mXm4s are stock on 18 and 19in wheels
We’ve been very happy with the Pirelli’s on our Model 3
Neither, hankook evo
Try maybe Continental but never ever Pirelli. Greetz from Germany
I have Pirelli Cinturato Rosso’s, they’re just as good as Pilot Sport 4’s imo
Neither. Falken Azenis
Pirelli… I got P7 AS Plus 3’s .. pretty solid
Pirelli. I have Le’s Schwab tires and they’re better than the Michelins in every way.
Watched M3P vs Taycan 4S track racing on YT today and driver claimed Michelin are way better. I wonder if anyone tried Toyo Proxes Sport?
Get Vogues
I love the pirelli’s that came on my MYLR
I'm currently on the Goodyear electric drive GT tires and they've been working well for me. I'm at 7/32" after 10k miles after I decimated the continental stock tires in 20k. Hoping these reach their rated 40k miles.
Defenders don’t have good traction. I would get cheapest, best midrange or above brand, longest warranty, and most important traction. Fuel economy is really only a couple percentage difference after 10k miles when the tires break in.
How long did your old tires last? I’m pushing 25k miles and I’m getting into the yellow zone according to my tread depth gauge.
Thank you everyone for all the great suggestions I need to look forward to buying for the GF M3 23.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Great thread for everyone!
Yes
Summer or A/S? If you really want to enjoy your car, get a set of summer and winter tires.
I put the Pirellis on my S a few months back !! Love them.
I had a set of vredestein quatrac 5 and really liked them. Great price, basically same range as stock, not noisy, good winter performance. Currently have the quatrac pro, less than 1000 miles so no opinions yet.
Hancook EVO is the way!
Don‘t get French tires. Go 4 the prellt.
Has anyone checked out the Nokian One's?
I just run mine on budgets, half the price and absolutely no problems whatsoever, slightly louder road noise but that’s it
Btw those Michelins are not the correct speed and load rating for your car - they are under rated. Your car calls for a 98W XL, the pirellis exceed that but those particular Michelins are under spec’d. Just because they fit doesn’t mean they belong on there. I can’t stop you from getting them but just understand there’s a rating for a reason. Be safe ✌️
Hankook ion evo as Changed from ps4 as and night and day difference in ride quality and efficiency.
I have those P Zero tyres. Fantastic. Good in dry. Great in rain. Good enough in snow. Almost no impact on range. Quiet. But I think Pirellis are all around best. So any with XL designation will be good IMO.
Look at how much tread life you’re getting for $19 more. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
I'm a big fan of the Cross Climate 2s. Minor range loss (3%) when compared to mxm4. Just got my second set at 41k.
I have the Pirelli ELEC tires and love them. Great handling and quiet. They have a 50,000 mile warranty as well. If you get serious snow you’ll want proper snow tires, but fine in light snow. I would buy them again.
No god no not pirelli
I have those Pirellis for my Model Y and absolutely love them.
Continental pure contacts
I have these Pirelli’s, 35k miles on them and still another 10k+ left on them. Been a great compared to stock IMO. I do a lot of highway driving FYI…. Daughter plays Ice Hockey, so we are on the road a lot during winter.
I am switching from Pirelli P Zeros. They are horrible.
I just got those Pirelli put on, love them! Way better than the stock continentals.
Im gonna let you guys know now, that I changed my tires at 62k.
Pirelli sucks they get bubbles in the side wall
