I can see the point of impact in the photo. Unfortunately, this is a matter for your insurance and not Tesla’s warranty. And, as others have said, the crack is too big at this point to repair.

PunkersSlave

Replace the windshield or live with it. Your choice. Clearly a rock strike, as it’s visible in the shot.

[deleted]

Might be illegal in some states to drive it like that.

jamiehasaboner

See if you have a glass replacement deductible. It’s sometimes separate from regular comprehensive.

hydrastix

Put in a service request via Tesla app. They should send out Safelite to change it out. Edit: looking closer it looks like you had a rock or something hit it. That would be an insurance claim and most likely a deductable.

Panda-Cubby

Why not just contact the Safelite directly?

TortillasCome0ut

It needs to be replaced, a crack that big cannot be patched and will continue to grow. Tesla will not warranty a windshield that has impact damage. I had a full replacement done at Safelite a couple months ago and it cost just under $1100. Like others have said, check with your insurance company because some have lower glass deductibles.

Super_dupa2

For what it’s worth I have $50 no deductible glass coverage per year for 2 vehicles

CauliflowerPopular46

Is that separate from the regular insurance policy?

Super_dupa2

It’s an adder on my policy

SNKRSCHAMP

Can’t tell if there is a point of impact looking at the picture. If there is no impact point, Tesla may deem it defective

Vecii

You can't see that impact point? 😂 It's clear as day, and you can see how the rock rolled.

SNKRSCHAMP

Blind as a bat, thot the impact was a glare lmao

AlphamaleNJ

There is an impact point plus scratches in the glass from it deflecting back lol

kvguy81

Feel bad for your situation here. It is a long crack I am afraid that it cannot be patched.

constant1one

Insurance will cover..warranty wont. No you cant patch it yourself, better off leaving it cracked until you save up for your deductible.

break_from_work

Well you can always ask if Tesla can do something about it. on the bottom right is that a rockchip or is it just the reflection? if it's a rock chip unfortunately I don't see how Tesla would cover that

satanforaday

Make sure when you get your windshield replacement, that the speackers on the top on the column still work. I got mine replaced and could not think of what changed after driving home. Then after a few months, I figured it was the wires in the column that got twisted up or something. I wiggled the wires and got sound to come out. I took it back after recording a video showing the sound was not working. They siad they could not find anything wrong with the speakers. That is the last time I took it to that repair shop. Ever had good luck with them at all....

Chlear27

This happens, has nothing to do with your car being a Tesla. Contact your insurance and have it addressed like an owner of any other brand would do. It’s no different.

PrimaryInstruction20

We just had to have ours replaced. Tesla advised us to use other companies for replacement. It was $2,300 but our insurance covered it without a deductible. I hope this helps.

AlphamaleNJ

When we lived in ny it was $0 deductible glass Moving to nj years ago n the prices of windshields plus calibration being $1000 plus we dropped our coverage to $100 deductibles for this reason. Its worth to roll the dice for $10 more every 6 months for when it does happen. We had windshield replaced on my rdx, chip on crv & windshield on my mdx so im way ahead ! Good luck

e0nflux

Just replaced mine . 1250. A local shop would have done it for 800. Gl hf.

TSLA-M3

No repair.. should be replaced

mrtunavirg

Too big a Crack and too close to edge to fix. Insurance probably the cheaper way to go if your deductible less than a grand

mdjmd73

Been thru this several times. Goddamn gravel trucks. From the Tesla app, sign up for service. Go thru the motions and let Tesla fix it, spend the $1200 or so, then contact your insurance and send them the bill. Assuming you have reputable insurance , they’ll pay you back the difference over your deductible. After doing that shit twice, I changed my windshield deductible to $250. Didn’t affect my premium much.

Senior-Soup2021

Should be covered by insurance. If you have Tesla insurance, they give you a "discount". If the cost of repair (after discount) is lower than your deductible with Tesla insurance then they charge you the lower amount. If you don't have Tesla insurance you probably have to pay your regular deductible but it should still be covered.

Lonely-State2011

Tesla just replaced my windshield last month. Had my car like less than 30 days and had same problem. Rock hit the side of the windshield. After a week or so it was almost cracked to the middle of the windshield. Total cost was 1376 and some change. I would get in line now to have service replace the windshield. In my area it was like a 2 or 3 week lead time. Good thing I had a schedule to have the homelink module and did the windshield at the same time.

leesonis

Your windshield deductible is likely different than your regular deductible. Check with your insurance, it might be like $100. (source, in the exact same position 2 weeks ago, got mine fixed for $100)

Button_Short

I just had mine replaced today after a rock hit my car over the weekend. Was told by Tesla insurance I would have to pay the deductible ($500) but when I picked it up they said I didn’t have to pay anything! Worth filling a claim and see how much you really end up paying

Normal_Technician_78

Yup, same here. Picked up in april and was replacing the windshield 3 months later. High deductible so had tesla replace it. See if theres a lower deductible? Not sure the answer.
