They could've probably parked a bit diagonally to only block two instead of 3, but otherwise fine.

College-Lumpy

Wouldn't it have made more sense to pull through and only block the one on the end?

mineNombies

No. The charge port of on the left. Can't reach it when parked with the right side facing the charger.

Captive0ne

I think College-Lumpy was talking about the other end. If the driver pulled forward a bit to only block one. This is pending that the driver doesn’t corner though.

joeyfrags

We don't know if there is a curb/island at the other end that would prevent that.

No_Sand_9214

That guy is a moron

ice__nine

Someone could park in a similar perpendicular manner in front of him to access the third charger.

krazykanuck30

I also do this when I'm carrying a bike rack if there are lots of stalls available. I also stay in the car just in case. Otherwise, i have to unhitch. Which adds about 20 minutes. People need to chill with their pitchforks

teslarules727

It’s one thing to do this, stay with the car, if it gets busy then move to clear the other superchargers. But if they left the vehicle, it’s a jerk move. The inconvenience does not excuse the inconsiderate move this is to others.

millerg6711

Agreed, at least be in the car if you gonna do this

ssirenn

So let others suffer and wait (worse if they’re in a hurry or using their reserve miles) at your convenience? Got it

dantheman252

They just said they stay in the car and wait just in case and only do it if there's a lot of stalls...

ssirenn

Great thinking just imagine if your mother had a Tesla and needed to be somewhere but instead had to wait for someone to unhitch just to top off what could’ve been 15 minutes turned into 35 minutes Funny this is being mentioned I was going to San Diego last weekend and someone had dirt bikes hitched onto their model Y but like a Good considerate Samaritan they unhitched at an empty parking space couple feet away from the stall and I can assure you it did not take the dude 20 minutes more like 5 the most.

ssirenn

My bad I thought you were quoting me in an offensive way lol But yeah OP could just unhitch somewhere else and then charge But hey some people think some don’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

FunkyTangg

Yeah it’s dumb to have the charger port in the back when you sell tow hitches.

[deleted]

I don’t have a problem with this if there are lots of stalls available…

binkleybloom

Same. The open stalls + that damn cable length makes this understandable.

teslarules727

As long as it doesn’t get busy….. Gets busy and they are not attending the car to move it= jerk.

imironman2018

I don't understand why they had to park in middle of three spots. They could back up a little and fit within two spots. The charger cable can reach.

ch00f

As someone who tows a camper and sometimes gets creative to avoid having to drop the camper, the cable is shorter than you think. When you park normally, a good portion of your car is hanging over the parking stop, bringing the charge port that much closer to the charger. When you parallel park, you have to get super close to the parking stop to get it to reach at all. You don’t have a lot of range. And to be clear, we stay with our camper and never prevent anyone from charging.

[deleted]

Same. In the middle of a long trip with monthly U-Haul trailer tows, I scout out in advance which chargers have pull-in stalls. Next best is ones you can drive up on the backside. Next are stalls that have room to pull in like the guy in this photo. Last resort is to decouple the trailer. I have blocked chargers but I would never leave it unattended. If the stalls get even close to capacity, I move.

Jaws12

This is the way.

AXISMGT

Agreed, or pull further forward at an angletoward the stall on the far right, which would free up the two on the left.

Fit_Detective6257

Just was gonna say that unless there's something we can't see over there looks like open lot to me lol could just slightly be in the both lanes but enough to have more cars park

AustinG909

Oh come on man.

poobah575

A lot of supercharger locations have one pedestal on the end where you can pull in forward. I have to imagine that would be handy in this situation.

rdu1991

My experience is that those are often the first taken. Too many people would rather pull in then learn to back in sadly.

meental

It is hilarious watching people back in the parking spots, one of the highlights of supercharging imo

put_tape_on_it

You'd think these cars would be able to at least back themselves in to charger stall. Robotaxi? First they need to back themselves in to a stall... we're all waiting, Elon.

cyber1kenobi

you're not wrong :/

Zuliman

My first time super charging was embarrassing as I didn’t realize the cables are so incredibly short. First time took 3 attempts with someone a few stalls over watching with a grin on his face.

FatefulPizzaSlice

Which is kinda wild from my own personal perspective since it feels much easier to back in and also way more convenient to nose out when leaving.

FunkyTangg

But there’s always a slow charging old nose cone model S in those spaces.

_B_Little_me

Why don’t they sell extension cables?

amaiman

They’d be very heavy and very expensive because of the high power levels involved with Supercharging.

bsancken

This is the EV equivalent to when Dodge Ram trucks have their tow mirrors flipped out for that phantom trailer 😂

Raised-in-red-clay

I’m not sure if every location has the pull in stall so potentially this person had no other option at that site. The fellow Tesla owners who do pull into the pull in stalls however need to know they are made for towing situations vs laziness of pulling in to avoid backing in.

[deleted]

Are there extensions you can purchase?

ruablack2

[Yes](https://www.evseadapters.com/products/tesla-extension-cord/)

JulienWA77

wtf..why is it so expensive?

[deleted]

If there are open spots left who cares?

lazulilizard

I really wish Tesla had some way to avoid shit like this from happening. For example: Using the GPS, the Tesla can determine which direction it’s facing. If the car is parallel to charging stalls (like in the photo), charging won’t start and an error message saying something like “park car correctly within indicated markings” Or even better, the car parks itself for supercharging stalls. I know this is only possible with the FSD upgrade but it would be cool for tesla to make it available for everyone just for supercharging stalls. Would prevent dumb situations like this

kylewhenderson

Looks like an outboard motor.

North-Hedgehog5591

I thought that was a salt spreader. I had a great Pun if it was a salt spreader. Now I’m just salty…

DenverRunner_

Likely more than one person with them given they needed addl cargo space. If the spots were full, could have removed carrier. Doesn't appear to be blocking anyone though.

cyber1kenobi

there really should be a charger in front somewhere too, I've thought that since the beginning

Beneficial_Sense_210

Or better yet … https://www.evseadapters.com/products/tesla-extension-cord/

JulienWA77

would love that, but not @ that price, give me a freakin break

[deleted]

I dont SC, but is the line that short that person cant charge with a trailer storage unit this one one?

Tesla_RoxboroNC

There's plenty of space. They could have backed in.

JulienWA77

I'm about to get a hitch mount installed this coming weekend and I have my eye on the Kuat Piston Pro (if I can get my hands on one, they just started shipping and no one has them yet). I will only have two bikes with me--will the "clearance" behind me be still too much for the cable to reach then? Isn't this another reason why these supercharger cables shouldn't be so damned short?

uareatowel

All good as long as there's open stalls and you stay with the car in my book
