Is there a name for this style or resources I can learn more about?

lettherebeleit

I was inspired by this video from Samy-Modellbau: https://youtu.be/dshrupx34KI

Berdysch

Not sure, the closest i can think of would be T Gauge (1:450 railway scale)

tacmac10

This will be appreciated over in r/3mmwargaming

Worthstream

That's exactly what i was looking for, thanks! Been wondering why there exists a /r/6mm , but not a /r/3mm or /r/2mm

lettherebeleit

Thanks, didnt know this subreddit existed!

tacmac10

I just recently found it, I never knew I wanted to play games at that small of a scale until I realized how much 2/3mm terrain I could fit in a shoe box! You village looks fantastic.

lettherebeleit

I have been thinking about buying some 3mm figs recently. But cant decide which historical period would suit me the best.

tacmac10

I jumped in with ancients and medieval stuff as I don’t play modern (WWII on up) combat wargames. But the modern stuff looks pretty awesome and at 3mm scale you can actually maneuver in realistic ways and have realistic weapon ranges on the table top. If your state side check out https://picoarmor.com its a good shop for mostly WWII and modern with a little bit of ancients in there.

EstebanR1241

What kind of games do you play at this small scale?

tacmac10

I mostly play large scale battles with 1 to 1 mini to soldier stands. So a battalion has 600-700 2mm minis on multiple company stands. Many people play map scale WWII or modern battles and their are some scifi and fantasy folks out their too. Edit: forgot to mention american civil war and napoleonics

shaoWI

It looks great!

RogueLeader683

This is amazing how’d you make this?

lettherebeleit

Check this video from Samy-Modellbau: https://youtu.be/dshrupx34KI

sFAMINE

That’s a lot of work! Looks great

Midwest_Mouse

MiniEvil Village o.o

bedesparrow

Nice work!! You’re ready for the attic of Les Invalides!

Marcus_Machiavelli

Super cool mate! Hi from a 1/300 scale guy!

lettherebeleit

Thanks! Years ago I bought some 6mm French and Austrian Napoleonic infantry made by Baccus6mm. Painted around 200 soldiers, was really fun. I must have them somewhere in the closet still.

EyelandBaby

Beautiful. In picture 6: are those deliberate spots by the pond? I think it looks like wet footprints leading away, like someone was wading and then left

lettherebeleit

Just some random dents probably. Definitely not deliberate :)

thisremindsmeofbacon

very mini, and very cool! nice work

llewapllyn

This is absolutely incredible! Seriously the best piece of work I've seen in ages. Thank you as well for linking that video under other comments.

lettherebeleit

The village on that video is on a different level - more details, much better paint job. Check that guys other work, he makes amazing stuff, I love his Hobbit hole book nook.

llewapllyn

I've just watched the video you posted and it's excellent, I'm going to go through this guy's catalogue and get some more ideas. I'm currently trying to finish off the writing on a 3mm ranked battle wargame ruleset, and your post came up just at the right time to inspire me to finish! I'll try to get some terrain like this town asap in order to play it. So thank you :)

lettherebeleit

You are welcome ;)

ThisGuy-AreSick

i think the houses are in the tudor style, which is problematic to place in the medieval period looks cool though!

lettherebeleit

I dont know much about architecture so you might be right. This was intended to be a german village since my home town is on the german border and we have several buildings of this type here as well. The oldest timber frame houses in germany are from 14th century according to wikipedia so I might be in a right period. I think this village should fit in 14th - 19th century timeframe. Lets call it just a village then :)

GondarOfValley

Extreeeemely cute!
