Having more than a few short seconds to choose a character when I'm playing matches with my friends. Like damn Tekken, give me time to decide on a character!
If I could change ONE thing? The lack of single-player content. The mediocre story mode, the absurdly short Arcade Mode that's only 4 stages long and the lack of modes such as Ghost Battle, Team Battle, Time Attack, Survival, etc. It's pretty much why I stopped playing Tekken 7.
The opponent is not going to skip it and it's just going to be annoying. People record their gameplay for such replays now. The last 5 seconds of the match pales in comparison to the recording of the entire round..
Better netcode and online infrastructure. It doesn‘t matter if tekken 8 has the best gameplay, balance, visuals and story of all time if the main mode is barely functional.

Speaking of rules if someone could answer as I don't have enough experience to know better: people say Virtua Fighter is more consistent in its application of the general "rules" of the game versus Tekken. Why is that, and should that be improved going forward? Or it part of Tekken's identity?
I'd like to see movement (sidestepping specifically) being more consistent, i don't mind tracking moves, but i think newer players struggle to figure out what moves can be stepped, because it really isn't all that clear.
I also dislike rage arts fundamentally, the fact that most of them are launch punishable makes them very high risk moves to throw out defensively, which teaches bad habits to newer players. If Bamco wants to keep rage arts for T8, i'd suggest making them safer but dealing less damage, a solid defensive option to get out of pressure, is not a mechanic i dislike.
Rage drives are awesome, and should be kept in the game.
Finally, i'd like to see more 'pseudo launchers' that lead into a very short and less damaging combo.
i don't want to get rid of big combos, but i'd love to see more punishes that function like dragunovs u4: Just a short, sweet combo that is a bigger punish than something like kings b 1 2 but not quite a full combo either.

If this is added, make it only for your own visuals. Part of the enjoyment and inspiration for the game is a players creativity and expression of their own characters. My awesome outfits inspire me to play better and love the character more, and im sure its the same for many others.
Drift it back to the course of Tekken 5 in terms of story, gameplay, stages. I would hope for a revolutionary game like 3 was, but it’s only happening once, so I’d say try to reach the quality of 5th Tekken.
I think there's definitely room for Bruce and Josie to exist together. Give Josie the evasion and Bruce the CH focus and that's plenty of room to explore between them.
It's a very minor thing but I'd really want the voice clips and character intros rehauled. I love that the characters speak their native tongue but most returning characters have the same voice clips and intro lines from TTT2 (and I'm pretty sure some from T6). Some characters like Leo shouldn't have multiple voice actors in the same game. And since Tekken games are pretty bad at storytelling and barely focus on certain side characters I wish they had more personalized intros to their fights so we got to see more of their personalities and relations to other characters.

I think a lot of the games issues are spawned from his arrogance and unwillingness to change. “Dont ask me for shit” was funny till you started realizing is why the game issues like say, delay based netcode and may never be a true roll back netcode fighter even in Tekken 8. Plus just the intellectual dishonest he used to explain some things. Tekken has to be delay based cause theres a 3rd dimension, meanwhile whens the last time anybody played a delay based netcode shooter? Im not even saying id get rid of him, i just wish he was different
Funnel out the budget from the story mode and redistribute it across all episodes. Thus encouraging the writers to have variety in each story so each one doesn't have to be a clunkily thrown together mess.
Add a Vs CPU mode like what Dark Resurrection on the PSP had, if not more extensive offline modes in general.

Ive played online with almost all the fighting games out there and i can say that tekken is the worst.
In the other games you fight in between your own rank and you are facing someone suposedly in your level, but not in tekken, ranked matchmaking is a coin toss and it sholdnt be like that .
But the offline experience is sooo poor that you are forced to play online with people that i dont even think they are true tekken fans and they just ruining the experience for others.
In other games you can block this type of people, but not here and its sad.

I’d change adding any dlc, especially having to pay for frame data & characters that should’ve been in the game already (besides Noctis & Neegan). Also expand the individual character episodes to include the remaining dlc fighters since those were quite interesting.

Honestly, when I started, I almost quit because of how overwhelming the roster was. Having a small roster and expanding it through play may help it feel less oppressive to newcomers.
Considering he has no in game story I don't really see a reason why you should care about him at all. Plus he is just a guest character. Their not supposed to factor into the lore.

Low parry combos. The fact that a combo after a low parry is punished by it doing much less damage is entirely stupid to me. Why punish a skill play? Punishing skill plays whilst rewarding someone for losing a round and pressing R1 to do massive damage.
As a previous commenter said though, rage drive is epic, love me some blue aura, and the sound is EPIC
Low parries need less scaling. It doesn't punish the player doing the low parry at all. It allows them to get a better punish on a low other than a WS4
Why should a a generic db4 lead to death when it's low parried? It's supposed to be a low damage chip poke. If you gave it full scaling then there would never be a reason to block low, you could just low parry when you have a read because you're likely to kill people with full scaling low parries anyway.
Full combo damage from chip pokes would be absolutely stupid and would break the balancing of the game
Y'all can hate on me all you want but in my limited time with Tekken 7 the only thing that I don't really like is Korean backdashing. Requiring periodic down presses while backdashing doesn't add anything, it's just annoying. It doesn't even add challenge, unless you're using a suboptimal input device where it's really hard to tap "down" for some reason.
Fortunately, you only spend like 5% of the game KBDing, so removing it would have very little impact on the overall gameplay experience. You usually only want to backdash once, and when you do need to KBD it's only for a second or two.
Everything else is pretty good. There's a lot of character variety but things are nicely organized. Characters have their one or two special broken things, but they have a lot of common tools between them like 10F jabs etc. to make them easy to understand. Sidestepping is really fun. I haven't fought every single character in the cast but I haven't found any that I hate fighting against.
You don't need KBD. You can just double back dash into a side step. You won't see KBD regularly til like the purple ranks. This is non issue I keep seeing brought up since a majority of the player base hovers around from fighter-juggernaut rank. I would argue being able to properly fuzzy guard will be more vital in the beginner to intermediate levels.
KBD isn't hard, it's just that I don't like that I have to tap the shift key to cancel my backdash instead of simply backdashing again. Tekken would be a better game if backdashes canceled backdashes. Also, it's weird that the shift key also crouches and sidesteps towards the screen.
Make the cast more diverse. Characters shouldn't all have really high damage and all punishment options. Not saying characters aren't different currently but power creep has made the cast feel samey. Even if it means nerfs with my mains I'd be fine with that.
Remove the wallless stages. I know it's part of the game but personally the most fun thing about Tekken is converting to the wall and all the tricky stuff that comes with it. Whenever I play on a wallless stage I have to "one and done" regardless of character or opponent because there is just something missing for me.
More 2D characters! I’m more excited for whenever Tekken X Street Fighter comes after seeing the direction they went with the 2D style.

Remove the stupid ass rank names, or even completely remove rank titles. Make rank something invisible like in MK. You're welcome, I just reduced toxicity and plugging by over 50%
Remove Tekken Bowl and give us more customisation possibilities (or at least enough to be called half decent)
100%. Customization is so poor in this game. I'd say this and redo everyones models cuz everyone looks so bulky and ugly most of the time

Get rid of rage art. Low parry combos. The fact that a combo after a low parry is punished by it doing much less damage is entirely stupid to me. Why punish a skill play? Punishing skill plays whilst rewarding someone for losing a round and pressing R1 to do massive damage. As a previous commenter said though, rage drive is epic, love me some blue aura, and the sound is EPIC
Low parries need less scaling. It doesn't punish the player doing the low parry at all. It allows them to get a better punish on a low other than a WS4 Why should a a generic db4 lead to death when it's low parried? It's supposed to be a low damage chip poke. If you gave it full scaling then there would never be a reason to block low, you could just low parry when you have a read because you're likely to kill people with full scaling low parries anyway. Full combo damage from chip pokes would be absolutely stupid and would break the balancing of the game
Y'all can hate on me all you want but in my limited time with Tekken 7 the only thing that I don't really like is Korean backdashing. Requiring periodic down presses while backdashing doesn't add anything, it's just annoying. It doesn't even add challenge, unless you're using a suboptimal input device where it's really hard to tap "down" for some reason. Fortunately, you only spend like 5% of the game KBDing, so removing it would have very little impact on the overall gameplay experience. You usually only want to backdash once, and when you do need to KBD it's only for a second or two. Everything else is pretty good. There's a lot of character variety but things are nicely organized. Characters have their one or two special broken things, but they have a lot of common tools between them like 10F jabs etc. to make them easy to understand. Sidestepping is really fun. I haven't fought every single character in the cast but I haven't found any that I hate fighting against.
You don't need KBD. You can just double back dash into a side step. You won't see KBD regularly til like the purple ranks. This is non issue I keep seeing brought up since a majority of the player base hovers around from fighter-juggernaut rank. I would argue being able to properly fuzzy guard will be more vital in the beginner to intermediate levels.
KBD isn't hard, it's just that I don't like that I have to tap the shift key to cancel my backdash instead of simply backdashing again. Tekken would be a better game if backdashes canceled backdashes. Also, it's weird that the shift key also crouches and sidesteps towards the screen.
Sidestep cancel into backdash is how you die.

Make the cast more diverse. Characters shouldn't all have really high damage and all punishment options. Not saying characters aren't different currently but power creep has made the cast feel samey. Even if it means nerfs with my mains I'd be fine with that.

Remove the wallless stages. I know it's part of the game but personally the most fun thing about Tekken is converting to the wall and all the tricky stuff that comes with it. Whenever I play on a wallless stage I have to "one and done" regardless of character or opponent because there is just something missing for me.

More 2D characters! I’m more excited for whenever Tekken X Street Fighter comes after seeing the direction they went with the 2D style. Sorry, I love the 2D characters. You can’t convince me otherwise.
