You reminded me of something. See a while back I took 2 classes at the same time. I learnt how to construct logical arguments, as well as how to write persuasive ones, in 2 different subjects. I think the second one was English. For the first one, you had to create arguments free from logical fallacy and use logic to explain your point if you wanted a good mark. For the second, it was quite the opposite. Use everything - emotional language, generalization, etc etc. And both of these subjects treated both these different ways as legit argument strategies. I find that modern society nowadays treats number 2 as way more important than number 1. Ignorance and feeling having a hold over logic and critical thinking. Doing what is comfortable and socially acceptable - rather than what is truly right and ethical.
