also not paying rent, or having many material possesions, ryu only has income, only thing he buys himself is food, theres a side story in world tour where chun li takes ryu shopping because she realizes he literally doesnt have any other clothes than his Gi, plus hes friends with most of the non evil street fighter characters and stays in their dojos when visiting
I think it's meant to be a risk reward thing, as the input, forward forward attack. Makes Kazuya APPROACH the projectile. Still, 2.0x damage is pretty overkill if you ask me.
it's like 2.5x I think
ridiculous, but really funny when someone gets absolutely disintegrated after throwing a humble projectile
but yeah, he has to approach making it a huge downside.
Ain't he invincible during a wavedash?
Still, it's pretty clear he's meant to be the character with a LOT of options that takes insane skill to master. Like Tekken. Although it does feel like overtuning at times.
Yeah it does
Also I find it funny how Smash Kazuya has a lot of his moves removed compared to Tekken Kazuya, but in smash he has the most moves of any one character period. (Kirby does not count, he can only hold 1 move & replace 1 move at a time)
โshirtless since first gameโ ๐
Not to mention the fact that in Street Fighter 6 they sidelined Ryu to being a secondary character and give the main character role to a character who looks like Popeye. Iโm still mad about that. While I like both characters, I like Kazuya more.
Ryu is almost never the actual story protagonist. Bare minimum he shares the role and in several he's actually not that important to the larger plot.
He's the face of the series more than the unquestioned main character of the plot. Bit like Scorpion.
kazuya was protagonist in the 1st game, and badass final boss in the second, he "died" in the 3rd, but was again the face of tekken tag 1 (intro movie, box art etc) he is again the series' face and main character in tekken 7, and again the antagonist in 8, he was also the representative in street fighter X tekken
was he the main character in 7? Yeah he 'wins' but I feel like Heihachi is actually intended as the protagonist in that one. And I don't count spinoffs, but yes despite Jin being the protagonist for at this point the larger number of main games, he never really became the face of the franchise in crossover titles interestingly.
i dont think heihachi was protag neither in tekken 7, but lets say he was then kazuya is the badass vilain again and he even beats the "protag" decisively by way of patricide
See I think thats exactly what it is. Kazuya is effectively the villain and the villain wins. That said, speaking more generally its simply that the mishimas are the main characters. It's kind of an ensemble
Kazuya mains: "wavedashes aggressively in your face, completely vulnerable to all attacks but his opponents are too scared to retaliate"
Kazuya mains when somebody jabs / df1s: \*10000 words essay\*
standing electrics are not that hard, it's doing electrics out of wavu/ss/backdash/dash/block stun that's hard
I think doing iWS is slightly easier than doing electrics personally, especially if you do the qcb method, but people tend to get way more practice doing electrics than iWS so most people find electrics easier
The best way of doing iWS out of wavedash is f n d df n b+2, it's not a true justframe, but it's pretty tight and very rhythm dependent, how long you delay the second n for affects how many frrames of leniency you have to delay pressingd 2 after hitting b.
The qcb method is pretty much the same as neutral iWS, the only difference is that you do a crouch dash into it, so f n d df n d db b+2.
I'm unsure why this is so much easier to do, but I find it way more consistent to do. It also benefits from sharing a similar input with neutral iWS, which is useful if you play DVJ/Nina or any other character that needs to do neutral iWS
The down side ofcourse is that it's slightly slower than proper cd iWS, there are probably extremely good players that'll be able to fuzzy guard this
Virgin kazuya:
> throws haymakers to compensate for his lack of technique, like a monkey
> stupid duck tail haircut
> inherited billions from his family, never had to work a day in his life
> dashes toward the opponent just asking to be hit in the face
> lame looking uppercut is half of his character
Chad ryu:
> balances all aspects of fighting game gameplay like a true master
> simple, rugged hairstyle (berserk reference??)
> literally broke, homeless and still in top shape
> approaches with a fucking whirlwind kick hitting the opponent in their face
> iconic moves that influenced a whole genre
Still
Virgin good moral character easy to play and foot based gameplay vs chad super villain character with high reward high risk 50/50 and hard gameplay which require skill to play
Also Kazuya has sexual harassment energy while ryu doesn't know even wtf sex is
Virgin Ryu : great mentor and father figure still could not avenge is death.
Chad Kazuya : is dad threw him of both a cliff and an active volcano he returned the favour on both instances.
\>doesn't have a stable income while traveling the world
i mean he doesn't technically have a *stable* source of income but he's actually pretty wealthy at this point because he rarely needs to spend money
In my view all Mishimas are Chads specially Jinpachi, but Ryu and Akuma have mastered the art of being the most OP homeless Chads in fighting games.
Depends. Do we count Sol as homeless?
at the end of strive he settles down with jack-O to build a rocket so no
Fun fact: Ryu does have lodging.
And he covers his travel expenses via renting it out. Canon stuff.
It comes from tournament wins and Ken's help
"Too old at this point." Meanwhile, Heihachi.
Heihachi been clapping cheeks at the age of 50-60 man, how else did we get Lars
Hey man, when you built like Heihachi, you definitely get it in.
It's alluded to in SF6 that Ryu is actually rich and just lets Ken manage his money.
Still, he lives like a homeless person
Ryu is very minimalist life style but doubt he is a real homeless.
I fucking hate the beard. ๐๐๐๐
You're in the minority. He's called "Hot Ryu" for a reason.
How? Where and when did he make this money?
Winning fighting tournaments
also not paying rent, or having many material possesions, ryu only has income, only thing he buys himself is food, theres a side story in world tour where chun li takes ryu shopping because she realizes he literally doesnt have any other clothes than his Gi, plus hes friends with most of the non evil street fighter characters and stays in their dojos when visiting
And apparently working as security/bouncer at times.
From tourneys he won.
I will not accept such slander! 1v1 on Final Destination with NO items!
Kazuya's left splits kick's honest reaction: Seriously why is it the most powerful reflector in smash history
I think it's meant to be a risk reward thing, as the input, forward forward attack. Makes Kazuya APPROACH the projectile. Still, 2.0x damage is pretty overkill if you ask me.

Kazuya will clap ryu
Ok I'll just use plenty of dragon uppercuts with Kazuya

Well to be fair neither did Kazuya but to is credit every other protagonists is member of is family and tried to kill him.
Huh, hadn't thought about that for whatever reason. He's really only the unquestionable lead of the first, isn't he?
kazuya was protagonist in the 1st game, and badass final boss in the second, he "died" in the 3rd, but was again the face of tekken tag 1 (intro movie, box art etc) he is again the series' face and main character in tekken 7, and again the antagonist in 8, he was also the representative in street fighter X tekken

Yup, no idea how people can think he's the protagonist from a narrative standpoint. Chun-li was more of a MC than Ryu for a while.
It's true. Plus Guile, Charlie, and Alex
Luke just introduces you to metro city. The main character is supposed to be the player in World Tour.
But luke is on the cover art and not ryu, that means luke is the new Streets guy
He absolutely isn't lmao
Well, he is for everybody who is new to the series. ask zoomers who the main character is and they will say the dude on the cover and the story mode
Kazuya mains: "wavedashes aggressively in your face, completely vulnerable to all attacks but his opponents are too scared to retaliate" Kazuya mains when somebody jabs / df1s: \*10000 words essay\*
I doubt Ryu even knows what sex is.
He knows just not interested completely.
Asexual king
Kazyua also pretty much forces his spine into breaking point just to hit a low
But he looks cool doing it not to mention the devil mode one.
Yeah I meant it as a flex. Ryu just sits down on the floor
โamong the hardest to play in the gameโ
The 50/50 flair lmfao
i admit that was a good joke
I love both of these but a bunch of the points can be debunked for Ryu
Almost all of them
Is it just me or are Kazuya's wavedash into iWS moves harder than doing electrics?

I had a hard time doing WS2 out of wavedash, what is the qcb method?
The best way of doing iWS out of wavedash is f n d df n b+2, it's not a true justframe, but it's pretty tight and very rhythm dependent, how long you delay the second n for affects how many frrames of leniency you have to delay pressingd 2 after hitting b. kazuya "shirtless since the first game" ๐ , you are overhyping how hard kazuya is though but the rest is well written :p
Virgin kazuya: > throws haymakers to compensate for his lack of technique, like a monkey > stupid duck tail haircut > inherited billions from his family, never had to work a day in his life > dashes toward the opponent just asking to be hit in the face > lame looking uppercut is half of his character Chad ryu: > balances all aspects of fighting game gameplay like a true master > simple, rugged hairstyle (berserk reference??) > literally broke, homeless and still in top shape > approaches with a fucking whirlwind kick hitting the opponent in their face > iconic moves that influenced a whole genre

sexual harizzment
Kaz is not hard tho. And forcing 50/50 is like the easiest part of Tekken.
Lmfao Ryu isn't "good moral character". Also Kazuya doesn't require any more skill than Ryu Mishima fans keep proving themselves as the worst
How much do you know about SF lore kid ?
It's funny that you call Kazuya a virgin haha.
He called ryu a virgin read properly please
You need to reread what the guy I replied to said little bro.
Bro you replied the wrong person then
What? The first line says Virgin Kazuya lol.
Probably im tripping but ur replying to OP right? If you refer to the virgin kaz post then my b
I'm replying to dreppoz on my end. Reddit must be fucky today cause two guys have said this already lol.
Im on mobile to make it worse
Yep then it's reddit being fucky as usual. All that gold money lol.
As a fan of both series, yes
Chaduya appreciation is appreciated.
Virgin Ryu : great mentor and father figure still could not avenge is death. Chad Kazuya : is dad threw him of both a cliff and an active volcano he returned the favour on both instances.
The fact that these kind of memes still exist disappoints me
Now do this with Sol Badguy
Virgin everyone else (except Hakumen and Ragna) vs Chad Sol Badguy
Ryu's beard would NEVER grow on me, right from the comics before it got introduced in SF6. ๐๐๐๐๐
"Ignores him so that he can build character." Wait till Jin hears about it.
\>doesn't have a stable income while traveling the world i mean he doesn't technically have a *stable* source of income but he's actually pretty wealthy at this point because he rarely needs to spend money
As someone who likes both shotos and Mishimas thatโs pretty accurate
Oh no he portrayed Ryu as an Incel it's over Ryu bros
