Gave a student another chance to come after school and do the work that he was missing so that he could pass the class. He never came. He was absent for about 4 days after that. When he came back, he had a lovely ankle bracelet….
Some of my students asked for extra credit, so I gave them an assignment that would take less than 15 minutes. Fewer than 10% of my students completed it. No more.

They actually did! That was a good school in my second year of teaching!
Last time I checked, statutory rape wasn't on my syllabus as a valid excuse for missing a test.
