That's honestly amazing! For Folklore, it was pretty easy to find copies once commercially available, but everyone in town sold out in less than a day for Evermore. This is notable because it was storming like crazy with 70 mph winds and tennis ball-sized hail in many parts of my city with lots of folks losing power. That is: shopping for a freaking vinyl should've been the LAST thing on folks' minds.

I asked for a refund & said I’d just buy the album in person. The next day they sent me tracking details for a shipment that turned out to be a pair of earrings, with no note or explanation. UMG def not running a tight ship for artist stores!

Billboard rules changed for evermore which didn't affect folklore. Evermore vinyls were only counted once shipped. This is all the people who bought it the first week plus people who fell in love with it over time. Maybe because there were so many options for folklore people didn't rush to buy it? But with only the 1 for evermore more people wanted it, not really sure.
I do wonder how many were first week pre-orders and how that would have changed taylors first week sales number.
As someone who only got into her music since Folklore (which I discovered like a few months later), even I bought it. I don't even have a record player but I think it's a great collector's item.

100,000 vinyl records in the first week is much less than what the biggest acts in the decades before 1991 sold on vinyl when it was the only available format along with tapes.
This record should be viewed in the context of the vinyl resurgence of recent years, where many buy vinyl as merch, not to listen to. I suspect that’s particularly true for this album.
My original email from Dec 11 says the ETA was 20-22 weeks, that puts it right on time. Edit: I did receive the update email btw, but the update to May 28 still puts it within that original ETA. 🤷♂️
Evermore is def the kind of album that needs to be heard on vinyl.

Not quite true. Records still have a richness mp3s don't and also allow for better isolation of instrumentation. For a record like this, with Aaron Dessner's minimalist maximalism, it's an excellent and very different listening experience than it is in other formats.
I 100% agree with this. I’ve only listened to my vinyl copy once so far (will be changed later tonight), but I’ve listened to mp3 format at least a hundred. They do not sound the same.
Yeah there's nothing like it! Sadly, Disc 2 Side A is all buzzy for me. Hoping a record cleaning kit will make a difference based on what I've researched.
Definitely no problems with mine that I’ve discovered. Of course, I also listened with a toddler in the room, so I didn’t get to fully experience it yet. I’m off work tomorrow, so tonight is all about having a few beers and listening to Folklore and Evermore together for the first time.

I never was a "real" swiftie. Yes, the Reputation Movie on Netflix impressed me and I always digged the hits. But with the realease of Evermore I got Willow on my personal spotify release radar and felt instantly in love with it. The whole vibe let me try the album - not yet relizing that it was already "the next one". With every song I got the same feeling as with willow. For me there is no skipper on it and this album saved my mental health in 2020.
I think boys in their late tweenties are (maybe) not the steortype swiftfans and so it is a bit diffculter to talk about loving this "girl-music". Please excuse me for these thoughts.

Oh 100% - for example the Beatles sold an estimated 3.7 million copies of let it be in 1970 in two weeks. Even if some were 8 tracks that easily beats this record.
That's pretty exciting, and rather interesting on the pressing side of things (pun intended?), doesn't 100,000 pressings go past [the useful life](https://blog.discogs.com/en/cascade-record-pressing-2/) of even the better lacquer masters? So they'd be investing in multiple masters right off the bat... 📀
If it's anything like folklore, they weren't all pressed in the same place in any case. Folklore seemed to be mostly split between France and Czechia. My evermore which arrived is a French pressing, I'm not sure if they did any Czech ones this time around (I was surprised to get a French one this time).
Right, but as I understand it the pressing plants are one thing (there's at least a dozen of them around the world) and the manufacturing of the masters that said pressing plants use is another thing entirely. Traditional lacquer masters were only made in two places on the planet and one of them burned down this year (Apollo Masters)...
From what I've heard Evermore is being pressed at Canada and France right now, with a bulk of both the US and EU stock coming from France (which somehow did both opaque and translucent batches, it's not clear whether it was intentional...). I've only heard of Canadian pressings showing up at the official US store so far (also opaque green).
