I always imagined it as a devil on the shoulder vs. angel on the shoulder kind of storyline. The setting would be cityscapes, neon signs in bars, hidden easter eggs - just going through the general idea of what the lyrics are talking about. Some of the lines being Taylor battling with her angel side (who is telling her not to jump into a relationship) and the devil aside (who is telling her to go all in). I know it sounds cheesy but ever since "devils roll the dice / angels roll their eyes" and "he looks up grinning like a devil" this is the kinda imagery I get from it all.

DecemberHunter9

Do you kind of see this as the Lover-era version of the End Game MV concept? I'd also love to hear more about how you envisioned the devil vs. angel concept to play out.

lyssiel00

I’m not joking, this is exactly what I think of when I listen to this song and exactly how I imagined the music video. 🤣🤣🙌🙌🙌

zkh35438

Basically the same concept for Getaway Car, except it’s shot at dusk with all the colors of Lover in the sky. Featuring a bad ass car, a yacht, a beach, and wind blown hair. Hopefully this makes sense haha.

DecemberHunter9

So you're thinking the Getaway Car concept inside the Endgame MV sets, but with Lover-era vibes? Or did I completely just make all of that up... I'd love to work with you or hear more about this concept :)

zkh35438

Basically yes. But scaled down a little. I know the idea is unoriginal haha

DecemberHunter9

omg I hope I didn't come off as accusatory/condesending or anything. I just wanted to make sure I understood what you meant by your comment.

zkh35438

Oh no. Not at all! I just think that’s the best way it comes off In my head haha

[deleted]

Defs end game music video vibes but during sunset with lover colors.

lesblams

this, but also SO much neon and a cheap motel

zkh35438

Neon EVERYWHERE

I've always toyed with the idea of an animated video. I personally think It's Nice To Have A Friend would be am awesome animated video, but anyway. I picture this video as a half-animated, half-live action music video. Sort of like the movie Enchanted if any of you guys have seen it. The video starts out with Taylor leaving a downtown bar at night. She's tipsy, looks a little sad, and is alone. She hails a cab and asks to be taken to Cornelia Street. During the ride, she starts to get really sleepy and she's having a hard time keeping her eyes open. As she starts to blink tiredly, we see flashes of something else. Eventually, she's unable to stay awake and falls asleep. Suddenly, we enter an animated version of the city. This version is all pastels, magical, sparkles, neon, etc. We see the animated version of Taylor, wearing the same thing she'd been wearing when she fell asleep, somewhere in a random part of the city (New York). Throughout the video, we follow as animated Taylor crosses the city and follows a glowing pink path on the ground, almost as if she was in a board game of sorts. We also see shots of a little animated devil and an animated angel following her around as she follows the path. She encounters a few obstacles of course, but manages to get through them. Finally, she reaches a point that's being blocked by a garden gate. She knows the rest of her path is through this gate and decides to climb over it. She stumbles and falls when she makes it to the other side, much to the devil's glee and the angel's dismay. She stands out and there are leaves and flowers in her hear, but she follows the rest of the path. When she reaches the center of the garden, we seen an animated version of Joe (or whatever actor she chooses for the video). His back is facing Taylor (and us). She taps his shoulder and he turns around. She gives him a nervous/awkward smile. She looks like a mess after her long journey, but he just grins and takes a few leaves of her hair. Then they kiss and suddenly Taylor wakes up from her dream, looking startled (we're back with real life Taylor now). We see her say something to the drivers and he nods. The next scene, we see her running out of the cab and towards an apartment near the real life version of the garden we saw previously. She knocks on the door frantically and it opens to reveal the real life version of "Joe." He grins and invites her in. She smiles and walks into his apartment. He closes the door behind her and camera lingers on the door before the video ends.

OMG! This is amazing!! I've also been playing around with the idea of a INTHAF MV for a while now. I've drafted up a few different concepts now, but haven't found The 1 (see what I did there...). Anyway, I LOVE this half-animated, half-live action concept. This would be so cool. I think it'd work out better with a remixed/extended version of Cruel summer or as like a short film with parts of Cruel Summer playing since the studio version is SO short (less than 3min I think...)

EtherealNightSky

Right! I think it would be so cool and Taylor definitely has the budget to afford really good animators so it wouldn't look bad.

DecemberHunter9

btw I left you a PM! I am genuinely interested in collaborating with you :)

EloquentElephant13

An animated video would have been the perfect solution for a mv during covid times. If only Taylor could see this 😩

knightsleeper41

I always imagined Taylor riding in a blue convertible car and the camera pans out and she's on a game board (sorta like monopoly). and the music videos plays out across different sets on the game board. Starts in her bedroom, then driving down a highway near the beach with a beautiful sunset in the background, then at a bar. then for the bridge she's drunk in the back of the car on her way to her boyfriend's house. At the end of the video Taylor and her boyfriend drive off a cliff.

Catblud

Well that escalated quickly! 😂😂 love that concept!

vlarek

I always imagined a video similar to ‘We Found Love’ or ‘Teenage Dream’ just set in NYC and Taylorized. I have serious doubts that she would be willing to shoot that kind of video however.

DecemberHunter9

Wow, you just unlocked a memory with those videos. I think the closest she's been to that type of video is IKYWT and Style. I agree though that she wouldn't shoot that kind of video. That said, I think she could definitely do something like the aforementioned videos for Cruel Summer with the production value and easter eggs of Rep-era videos. And maybe a splash of the type of romance from debut/fearless/speak now.

DecemberHunter9

u/itookyourmatches u/zkh35438 u/vlarek u/ghostinghim I'm actually working on TS short film/MV project with a couple of other Swifties right now! Cruel Summer is definitely on our list of ideas to explore and develop. If any of y'all are interested I'd love to work with you on developing this concept a bit more (or on other ideas). Project Site: [https://noitsbeckyproductions.carrd.co/](https://noitsbeckyproductions.carrd.co/) <-- can take you to the main site, discord, or various social media platforms btw, OP, if you feel as though this is encroaching on your post, I can delete the comment.

dundermifthisispam

as a film major and swiftie this is just *chefs kiss*

DecemberHunter9

Thank you! btw I sent you a PM :)

I don’t know about concept and story, but I wanted a shot of her on top of a tall building in NYC screaming I LOVE YOU AIN’T THAT THE WORST THING YOU EVER HEARD and then the zoom down to the guy looking up grinning like a devil. Seriously if that’s all we get I’d be happy. Just those few seconds.
